With the upcoming election in the US we will look at politics and Buddhism. Should we allow our Buddhist ideals to influence our voting? What would the Buddha himself have said in the midst of so much partisanship and how do the teachings on "holding to fixed views" fit into our own political dialogues?  Jon and Doug have an animated discussion on this important topic without implying how you should vote.  But you should vote!Support the show

"Love is a living, breathing thing.  There is no need to force it to grow in a particular direction.  If we start by being easy and gentle with ourselves, we will find it is just there inside of us, solid and healing." ~ Thich Nhat Hanh   In episode 44, Kristy has a conversation with her meditation teachers, Lodro Rinzler and Adreanna Limbach, about life, love, and relationships.  Listen in to learn about how meditation can be the opening for our willingness to seek to understand ourselves and the people around us as well as how mindfulness can be the antidote for divisive times.  Meditation can help us open our hearts to not only those who are easy to love but also to those we perceive to be insignificant to our direct experience, to those who have proven to be difficult, and ultimately to ourselves.     Lodro was named one of 50 innovators shaping the future of wellness by SONIMA.  Rinzler's work has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Good Morning America, CBS, and NBC.  He is the author or seven meditation books, including "The Buddha Walks into a Bar" and the brand new "Take Back Your Mind: Buddhist Advice for Anxious Times".  Lodro has taught meditation for 20 years in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and travels frequently for his books, having spoken across the world at conferences, universities, and businesses as diverse as Google, Harvard University and the White House.   Adreanna is a meditation instructor, personal development coach, and the author of Tea and Cake With Demons: A Buddhist Guide to Feeling Worthy.  Her work has been featured in The New York Times, OPRAH Magazine, Refinery29, Women's Health and Yoga Journal.   Follow @lodrorinzler and @adreannalimbaach on Instagram for opportunities to practice and connection to community

In this episode, I'm overjoyed to say I am talking to Lodro Rinzler, a meditation teacher who has taught Buddhism for 20 years, starting when he was just 18 years old. Lodro is the author of six meditation books including the bestseller The Buddha Walks into a Bar; and is the co-founder of the MNDFL meditation studios in New York City. Lodro's work has also been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Good Morning America, CBS, and NBC. Not only that, but it's difficult for me to overstate how much of an impact Lodro has had on my career and understanding of how to apply the principles of mindfulness, meditation & Buddhism to my life. He has - I hope he won't mind me saying - become somewhat of a mentor to me, and has been my teacher on 3 separate training courses over the past few years, including on the principles of Buddhism and Buddhist theory - which was totally fascinating and very important to me as someone who originally came at meditation and mindfulness from a very secular, scientific point of view. He has also been my teacher on 2 meditation teacher training meditation courses I have completed, including shamatha mindfulness meditation, and metta, loving-kindness meditation. He is also extremely wise, and has managed to maintain a real sense of humour and approachability, despite being extremely learned in the principles of Buddhism and Buddhist theory. I am totally honoured to have him on the episode today - and it also includes the most Buddhist definition of “being a badass” that I have ever heard, so you do not want to miss it! ------------ As usual, all the shownotes and resources for this episode - plus how to contact Charlotte, are on my website at BreatheLikeABadass.com/Podcast ------------ This episode was brought to you by my FREE quiz - What's Your Inner Critic Identity (And How Is She Sabotaging Your Success)?
