Fast food was an event back in the '80s and '90s. On this episode of "When We Were Kids: A Time Capsule Toys Podcast," B.J. & Rick talk about several fast food experiences then and now. Topics covered include: McDonalds, McDonalds toys, Burger King Kids Club, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Arby's, Rax, Rally's and more. They also do another segment of comic book ads from the '90s and another installment of toy lines we can't believe exist for "Congo: The Movie." #fastfood #mcdonalds #mcdonaldstoy #congomovie #congothemovie #crashdummy #crashdummies #toys Watch this episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/jYWM0p3PPNY
The Burger King Kid’s Club (BK Kid’s Club to the cool ones out there) was a radical set of kids being radical in your radically marketed mind. They needed someone to combat the monstrosities McDonald’s was giving us with years and eons of lore, just in case Mayor McCheese ever decided to unleash the Grimace… Read more S9:E4 – Burger King Kids Club Commercial
Remember the Burger King Kids Club, the chain's ad campaign targeted to “the kids?” There was Kid Vid, the white, video game-playing leader; Jaws, the Black kid who loved to eat; and a boy in a wheelchair named (seriously) Wheels. The idea, Rob Long speculates, must have been devised at one of those offsite retreats, the kind TV execs love to do in Laguna. But hits rarely are born from suits tossing around banal concepts. Instead they begin with a writers' novel idea, the equivalent of a delicious-looking hamburger. Also, we've been nominated for a Webby Award, vote for us here by April 18th! Transcript here. RPG designers John Kennedy (Star Trek Adventures, Stargate 5E) and Sharene "Madfishmonger" Gilchrist (Capers, Vast Kaviya) join to talk their new Staged Heroism RPG: A Comedic RPG of Super-Heroics, Super-Villainy, and Failure at its Best inspired by shows like The Venture Bros. Plus: Designing not to fail forward, but to embrace the fail. The Roger Rabbit style of gameplay. Flashback scenes as a game mechanic. Venomous monarch butterflies. Where did Sharene get her nickname? Cops raiding a Vampire LARP session. The design philosophy behind Star Trek Adventures. John gets a no-prize. Everyone is entirely too amused by the Burger King Kids Club. Shane Plays Geek Talk Episode #254 - 3/25/2022 Like what you hear? No matter what you think of clowns, you likely have no idea what their lifestyle is actually like. From living on a train with Ringling Bros. to performing for kids at a children's hospital, Joy Powers has done it all on the professional clown circuit. She joins the pod this week to discuss what it's like to clown for a living. You'll learn what it's like to travel the country as a performing clown and whether or not scary clowns give the rest of the bunch a bad name. Joy talks about common misconceptions of clowns (they don't all look like the clowns you see at the circus) and how the most rewarding part of her work is cheering up kids that, more than anything else, need a smile. In Hot Takes, Tim and Eben discuss solo cruising and irrational childhood fears. Vampires did it for Eben, while Tim discusses his terror at being dragged into the Burger King Kids Club. Murder Mystery dinners are also dissected, following Eben's recent experience. Now here's an episode to hurt your brains! It's S03E06, "Welcome to Latnok"! You know how we've spent the entire show dealing with Latnok and their various subgroups, and how it's well-established that they're a shadowy cultish organization with symbolic rings named after the prophet who they believe will lead mankind into a brighter future? Well, what if instead of that, they were the Burger King Kids Club? And Kyle had to compete in a hoverboard building competition against a jealous regular? Would that be good? Listen and find out! his week, we talk about Twitch, no, not the actual act of twitching, or convulsing, or anything like that (go see a doctor folks if you're experiencing any of that on the reg by the by.) The conversation covers all the areas worth noting like monetization, new security implementation, online narcissism, and the whole platform just getting too damn big for its own britches. Among other things, Andrew and George preach what the ALS Ice Bucket challenge, and what it SHOULD be about when you do it, along with the Burger King Kids Club, Captain Planet, Pauley Shore’s Son-in-Law, and fucking Bible Man of all things because when do we ever have a handle on things?Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. Finally, make sure to rate and subscribe to us on iTunes and YouTube, follow us on Twitch page and Twitter, and finally take part in our Facebook and Steam group!
The subject is Bibleman. A superhero that not even Keith or Greg have heard of, but his skills are pretty legendary. The duo also touch upon race relations in the Burger King Kids Club, and Greg recalls a terrible TV show from the past.
