Kike Oniwinde is a Forbes 30 under 30, World Economic Forum Shaper, and has won three national pitch competitions. Kike has been a high achiever since she was raised in East London, throwing the Javelin for GB whilst crushing her grades. In 2020, she raised £900,000 through crowdfunding for her business, BYP Network, a platform that empowers and connects black professionals to each other and to corporations. As a black female founder, Kike's achievements haven't come easy though, and she experienced push back from VCs making her feel like they “just didn't want to invest”. However, Kike met Angels who believed in her venture and decided to get her community investing through a crowdfund. In this episode you'll discover:How to set your valuation based on growth potentialHow to control timescales during your investment roundWhy you should take part in pitch competitions (even if you hate the idea!)

It's not everyday that you hear of Great British athletes trading gruelling training regimes in for the world of app design and entrepreneurship but that's what Kike Oniwinde did when she left the world of javelin behind and launched BYP Network in 2016 - A platform that empowers black professionals around the world to connect with each other and global corporations.Often dubbed 'the LinkedIn for black professionals', the platform has gone on to win a whole host of awards over the past four years, Kike has earned herself a place on the prestigious Forbes '30 under 30' list and led the company through a successful crowdfunding raise in the midst of a pandemic that saw the platform successfully secure more than £800,000 from over 1100 investors on Seedrs. Pretty impressive, right!?From how she's learnt to sieve through advice and follow her gut instinct having been easily swayed by others' opinions in the early days; how she successfully infiltrated the right business ecosystems to grow the right network that supported her through the company's various stages of growth; to why she's happy to shine a spotlight on the negative stats about black female entrepreneurs but refuses to let said stats affect her progress; this is Kike's INCREDIBLE story so far...PS. She can. She did. has just launched the UK's first Benefits Programme curated for and by self-employed women in the UK! Providing all self-employed womxn, female founders and freelancers with access to the health and financial benefits that come hand-in-hand with a corporate career like pensions, health insurance, gym memberships, eye care etc... PLUS a whole host of additional fashion, beauty, wellbeing, parenthood, and lifestyle incentives too; She can. She did. is on a mission to bridge the gap between female founders' ambition and what current business infrastructure fails to offer them. With over 60+ brands on board and counting including the likes of Pure Gym, Hiscox, Penfold and Vision Express on the more traditional benefits front to the likes of ESPA, Bloom & Wild, Hello Fresh and Oh Mumma on the ultimate rewards front, for just £5.99 per month you'll gain access to a whole host of exclusive benefits and rewards to support both your business and your life.
