“This feeling I was nurturing… was punishable by death.”This week on Outcast World, Graeme speaks with writer and doctor Majid Parsa, author of The Ayatollah's Gaze — a compelling story about growing up queer in the Islamic Republic of Iran.We explore forbidden desire, the underground queer scene in Tehran — full of joy, glamour, and danger — and what it means to party knowing your social gathering at home with friends could be raided at any moment.Majid opens up about gender performance, state surveillance, religious expectation, and the power of queer intimacy in places where even the word “gay” is unspeakable.A conversation about shame, courage, exile — and the quiet ways queer Iranians keep finding each other.---THIS IS OUTCAST WORLD ---Like and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and please leave a review. Lyse Doucet speaks to Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, about the future of Iran's nuclear programme and its government. The interview took place in the country's capital Tehran after Iran's twelve-day war with Israel. Both sides fired missiles into each other's territories, with hundreds killed as military sites were destroyed and civilian infrastructure badly damaged.Israel first attacked Iran on 13 June, claiming Iran was close to building a nuclear weapon. The conflict ended when the United States bombed three of Iran's nuclear sites. It is worth remembering, before any of the aggression started, talks about the future of Iran's nuclear programme were ongoing with the US. But they were overshadowed by a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency declaring Iran was in breach of its nuclear obligations and questioned why Iran was enriching uranium to such high levels. For now, there's a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Majid Takht-Ravanchi explains why he thinks it will hold and what it will take for diplomacy with the United States to resume in good faith. The Interview brings you conversations with people shaping our world, from all over the world. The best interviews from the BBC. You can listen on the BBC World Service, Mondays and Wednesdays at 0700 GMT. First: Christiane's exclusive conversation with the Iranian deputy foreign minister on how it could respond to U.S. involvement and still holding out hope for nuclear negotiations once this war is over. Then: If regime change is also Israel's goal. Who is waiting in the wings to take over? Christiane speaks with former State Department adviser and Iran expert Vali Nasr. Also: From her archives, Christiane looks back at a moment of hope inside and outside Iran for a peaceful transition to freedom and stability. Dreams well and truly dashed in the intervening years. And: Film director Wes Anderson speaks with Christiane about his new film "The Phoenician Scheme," the inescapable signature style of all his movies, and hiring Kate Winslet's daughter. Finally: As Berlin pays tribute to the legendary artwork of wrapping the Reichstag by Christo and Jean-Claude this week, Christiane revisits her conversation with Christo and what he told her about the project and how his own history as a refugee informed his art and unstoppable drive. Among our many fine callers is Majid, who's back in the U.S. after visiting Iran...
Will the US join Israel in its offensive against Iran? President Donald Trump says, "I may do it, I may not do it." Residents of Tehran have been called upon to evacuate and are mired in traffic gridlocks trying to leave. Meantime, Israel continues to strike leadership targets and nuclear sites. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, rejected the U.S. President's call for unconditional surrender in a taped video message aired on State TV. Majid Takht-Ravanchi is Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, and is a key player in the nuclear negotiations. He joins Christiane in an exclusive interview from Tehran. Also on today's show: Andrei Kelin, Russian Ambassador to the UK; author Hala Alyan (“I'll Tell You When I'm Home”) Learn more about your ad choices.

World Peace of Glory and Senses by Magic Mason: Farsi and English versionA remarkable story of coming to the USA and how a person can change the world and history.Schools have taught us that humans only have five senses. But revolutionary thinker Magic Mason proposed that instead of five, humans have nine senses. This revolutionary idea, as proposed by Mason, should be taught at all levels in school. He believes that with enough learning and research, people will be able to find ways to satisfy these nine senses and lead satisfactory lives, leading to a safer and sated society.Included in this book is the concept of one language-the language of the world. Here, Mason champions the idea of having only one world language to avoid misunderstandings. He proposed to have this integrated in the different curricula around the world.Another portion of the book also tackles about architecture and design-from foundation to roof plan.World Peace of Glory and Senses is a cornucopia of subjects-from psychology, to linguistics, to architecture.Magic Mason (Majid Khodabandeh) was born in Tehran, Iran, moved to Germany in 1985 and moved to the United States in 1989. On the premiere episode of The Defiant Podcast, Majid spotlights the ongoing GOP meltdown precipitated by the Arizona abortion ruling. Continued overreach by GOP extremists has galvanized Democrats and promises to change the calculus for the 2024 election as voters wake up to what will happen if Trump is allowed to return to the White House. Former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi joins Majid to discuss how Russian propaganda has infected the GOP via extremist Republicans like MGT, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert and Paul Gosar who have become the face of the GOP as they move the party deeper into the arms of Vladimir Putin and QANON. Now GOP strategists and Trump himself are fretting that now that the genie is out of the bottle, people are terrified that the GOP is run by a cabal of extremist lunatics. Check out Frank Figliuzzi's new book “Long Haul,” hailed as a true crime classic about the hunt for the long-haul truckers behind an astonishing 850 murders–and counting. https://www.amazon.com/Long-Haul-Hunting-Highway-Killers/dp/006326515X
