Join us for an unforgettable night of music and conversation as we welcome reggae chart-topper Marcia Aitken, veteran artist Carl Meeks, and promoter extraordinaire Kevin “KP Roots Man” Prunell to the show. Hear the stories behind the music and get up close and personal with some of the biggest names in reggae. Don't miss this chance to feel the love with Marcia's timeless classic “I'm Still in Love with You Boy” and much more!Marcia Aitken is a reggae singer best known for her recordings in the late 1970s, produced by Joe Gibbs along with Errol Thompson. She concentrated on lovers' rock and recorded a popular version of the Alton Ellis song “I'm Still in Love With You” (as “I'm Still in Love with You Boy”, recorded while still at Excelsior), which was a number one hit in Jamaica and successful UK and US reggae charts. Is there anything else you would like to know about her?

If you have not heard of Kehv, then you've got some real catching up to do! Kehv has been bubbling on the music scene since his earlier recordings in 1995. Born in the same parish of the late great Bob Marley, Kehv maintains his strong reggae influence while blending the soulful sounds of R&B seamlessly, developing a sound all his own which he and his team calls “Reggae Soul.” Growing up in Jamaica, Kehv's musical career began at the early age of ten in the church choir. He blossomed into an amazing vocalist and prolific songwriter; with no formal training He mastered both the guitar and piano. After migrating to the United Statesand settling in MiamiFL. Kehv recorded his first single "Half Way There" in 1995. With the demand from his audience for more music highlighting his beautiful vocals and heartfelt melodies. 1962, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Carl Meeks is an original, Cultural, Reggae, Dancehall singer with a "Sing J" style. Carl has a unique slur that identifies him, whenever you hear it you know it's Carl Meeks. As a youth, Carl always followed the sound systems from country to town.Carl was then introduced to Hugh "Red Man" James who produced “Weh Dem Fa”, “Youthman”, “Johnny” and “Heard About My Love featuring Daddy Lilly”. Carl worked with a lot of producers such as Jammy's, Jack Scorpio, Steele and Cleeve, Gussie Clark and Harry J to name a few. Carl has done show and tours around the world.
Last December we held an event called DIGIKAL WE DIGIKAL where DEADLY DRAGON was joined by the great Digital English and SCREECHY DAN, DEVON CLARKE, CARL MEEKS, KNIGHT RIDER all performed. As the night progressed K VIBES and MARSHALL ONE joined the session. Through a terrible storm we dropped riddim after riddim and rode the storm out! It was a wicked evening and here is the recording of the STAR TIME when all the performers jumped pon the Mic! Enjoy! Check www.deadlydragonsound.com for all your reggae needs!
Last year, Jase won an ebay auction for 100 reggae cassette tapes from the 1990's. When the tapes arrived I decided to hook up a dual cassette deck to a DJ mixer and make a mix tape of 'mixed tapes' and call it a TapeCast. This is the result. The term "REWIND" takes on a whole new meaning... Mix features Johnny P, Beanie Man, Spragga Benz, General Degree, Lady Saw, Carl Meeks, Tenor Saw and more.
Hot on the heels of his mix for Spannered from October last year, Tim Rayner, aka Dub Boy, graces the site's radio section once more, this time dropping a wide range of original and contemporary roots, dub & dancehall, from both Jamaica and Europe — with plenty of Bristolian goodness sprinkled throughout. Since 2002, Mungo's Hi Fi Soundsystem have been showing big love for all things reggae, dub, ska and dancehall by releasing some seriously high-grade music — not to mention regularly shaking Glasgow's foundations with their lofty speaker stacks. Following three outings on London's Dubhead label, the lads decided to set up their own imprint in 2005 — the wonderfully titled Scotch Bonnet Records. There's been a slew of 7"s and 10"s so far, all as hot as the label name suggests, with their unstoppable Belly Ska Riddim blazing its way across the UK, America, Germany and Poland. And there's no let up in pressure; next month sees their huge Mary Jane Riddim unleashed on a series of singles that feature vocals from Top Cat, Carl Meeks, Kenny Knots, Mikey Murka, Soom T and El Fata. There's also a Mungo's Hi Fi album on the way, due out on Scotch Bonnet in the not-to-distant future. In fact, they tell us they're sitting on so much new material that they don't know what to do with it all! For those unable to catch Mungo's Hi Fi on their European travels in the coming months, they've kindly supplied Spannered with this killer studio mix, packed full of unreleased Scotch Bonnet goodness. As you can tell, they've been feeling the current dubstep flavours too — hold tight for releases later in the year!
