Whew! 2025 was a helluva year of loss for Rockers all around the world! But the year also brought back some artists to active duty (Gaps), and as usually happens, some artists have hung up the touring game, or the music, completely (Wraps) in this past year. There's a personal side to this week's episode as well. Here's to a brighter (and healthier) new year for our Rock heroes, who are aging as we do. Did we forget someone? Welcome to the final work day of 2025! Jean and I are off the rest of this week, but you can still tune in from 6am until 10am for a "Best Of" the show! Kicked things off with the Wednesday song and talked about some of the New Year's Eve TV specials that are on the boob-tube tonight. Also had a list of things to look forward to in the month of January. In the news this morning, the Trump administration is freezing child-care funds for the state of Minnesota, more than thirty bodies have been recovered from the bayous in the Houston area this year, the FBI released pictures of a motorcycle collection they seized that belonged to former Olympian Ryan Wedding, and actor Isiah Whitlock Jr. has passed away. In sports, the Badger men's basketball team got a nice win last night, the Bucks play tonight and look to win a third straight, a look at the NFL's Week 18 schedule along with the College Football bowl game schedule. Cool story about a toy store in Arizona that donated a bunch of toys to the local Salvation Army right before Christmas…and another incredible story of a group of middle schoolers who helped save a bus driver who was experiencing a medical emergency. Elsewhere in sports, the latest on the Stefon Diggs situation, his brother Trevon Diggs gets released by the Cowboys, and Nikola Jokic is going to be out for a month after injuring his knee the other day. As we say goodbye to 2025, we listed some of the rockers & celebrities who died in the past year. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about the world's first oral care robot that brushes your teeth automatically, a guy who tried to steal a utility truck with a man still in the bucket, a naked #FloridaMan who robbed a meat market while wearing nothing but a mask, and a woman that was "wrongfully inseminated" at a hospital in Oregon.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textMerry Christmas friends! kk here goes:HOUSE OF THE WORLD.Ancient story and artifact meets lo-fi and Mediterranean hip hop in this journey to reclaim the art of the Bible's creation story. Poetry… in cosmological motion. haha!HOUSE OF THE WORLD was craft-brewed to give you the wisdom that our end is in our beginning. If you grew up with the Bible and it seemed like you were the only one who had serious questions about the creation story... here is a way forward with full acceptance of science and reason applied to ancient literature in context. We think this can profoundly help you rediscover who you are and what you are here to do and how to hold the sacred text of your childhood now that you've grown up.Along the way you'lllearn how the world made in Genesis 1 is less "planet spinning in space and more cosmic snow globe floating safely through chaos waters."discover how in creation myths, the creator God makes the world by separating into realms (sky, land, sea) and assigning roles (flying things, land animals, sea creatures).observe what it means in context to be made in the statue (צלם) of the divine counsel and ask "what is the best way to be a divine counsel mini-figure anyways?"meet a lovable collection of archetypal-first-humans from near Eastern Literature and consider what the first humans in first human stories actually represent.explore ancient artifacts and musings from ancient literature like the Book of the Dead and the Epic of Gilgamesh to Seneca, New Testament authors, and Rabbinic Midrash Agaddah. At the end of the day, we made HOUSE OF THE WORLD to help you reclaim ancient story for a better tomorrow. See you inside!Be good to each other!Mark and EricFor Text and Rock Poetry, Podcasts, and Video Content or to contact Mark and Eric, visit us at www.textandrock.com. Music is love… or is nothing ! ► Titres interprétés au grand studio - Wiggling Live RFI - The Salmon (Ska Version), extrait de l'album - Flowers Live RFI ► Line Up : Kiddus I (chant), Camille Bazbaz (claviers) et Jérôme « Tchiky » Perez (guitare) Son : Mathias Taylor, Benoît Letirant, Camille Roch. ► Album The Salmon (22D Music 2025). Send us a textShock Rockers Dangerous Toys Are Rattling Your Cage As Demolition Grows Closer#shockrock #newmusic #newalbum #dangeroustoys #hardrock #heavymetal Southern sleaze-metal veterans Dangerous Toys might not have released a new album in 30 years (although they promise there's one on its way), but that hasn't stopped them from establishing themselves among the most ferocious live bands on the circuit right now, while an avid following remains as rabid as ever. Time, then, to break the silence with Demolition, a brain melting compilation of 10 tracks, all previously unreleased and recorded during the hiatus between the band's second and third albums, 1991's Hellacious Acres and 1994's Pissed - arguably, the peak of the original band's activities. It wasn't easy selecting the contents. The band had some 70 new songs to choose from as they pieced together Pissed, almost everyone banged down on tape within days of the original idea being brought into the jam rom. Time to lift your Bic lighters up over your heads, Slackers!By 1981 the radio belonged to a handful of bands we still hear almost every day. Most people remember the massive ballads, the ones that cleared the floor at middle school dances or showed up in every movie montage. Because those songs were so huge, the bands got stamped as “soft rock” or “corporate” and that label has stuck for forty years. The part that rarely gets mentioned is how good the actual players were. These weren't studio creations or hired guns. These were working bands who spent years on the road or in the studio before anyone had heard of them. When the hits finally came, the same guys who wrote the three-minute love songs could still stand on stage and deliver hours of tight, inventive rock that most critics pretended wasn't there. This episode looks past the hits everyone knows and focuses on the musicianship that made the hits possible in the first place. I'll breakdown some of the biggest radio friendly rock bands of the era and lay out why their reputation as musicians never seems to align with their massive fame. If you've written this whole corner of the 80s off as lightweight, as I certainly did as a teen, this one's for you.

They say Elvis was the King of Rock and Roll, so Gurdip and Justin are joined by John Heath (EAP Society, Atomic Wax) to put forth their picks for the most underrated rockers that Elvis Presley ever recorded: from overlooked singles to forgotten album cuts, 50s to the 70s, in the studio and live, there may just be one in here that you've underrated, too! Although Gurdip has to bow out after this meaty and outrageously fun episode, as a very special Thanksgiving/holiday kickoff treat, a slightly shorter Episode 386 featuring "I'll Hold You In My Heart," "Hide Thou Me" and "Shy Me Thy Ways, O Lord" as Songs of the Week will be dropping into your podcast feed ASAP. If you enjoy TCBCast, please consider supporting us with a donation at Patreon.com/TCBCast. Interview with : The Problem With Kids Today Take It! is the third and latest album released by The Problem With Kids Today, the Connecticut-based trio of Tate Brooks, Silas Lourenco-Lang, and Reena Yu. The album was recorded in a shed in Tate's backyard in Branford, CT with Joe LeMieux producing. They are releasing Take It! via their In The Shed Records imprint on CD, digital download and streaming services on August 22. Following an eye-opening experience in a large studio as well as their first ever tour, The Kids were ready for a change. They were tired of being corralled by pencil-pushers, desk jockeys, and Suits. They were ready to take back control. So they did. Why pay to go to a fancy studio and be told what they can and can't do? There was a perfectly good shed in Tate's yard. Why hire a producer who may or may not understand the sound? They had long-time friend and Connecticut DIY staple Joe LeMieux who was passionate about the project. Why wait for some label to deem it worthy to release? They'll just put it out themselves. So, the band and Joe cleaned out the shed and turned it into a home studio even Guided By Voices would be jealous of. Finally, it was time. For 8 days in the middle of October, Silas, Reena and Joe moved into Tate's house. Wake up early. Record all day. Drink and smoke into the wee hours before catching a few precious hours of sleep on Tate's floor. Do it all again the next day. That was the routine. There were only two rules. Keep it simple. Keep it fun. The result is Take It!. An album that wears its Pastels badges proudly on its sleeve. The group takes inspiration from the long canon of English rock, from the mod-infested beaches of Brighton to the cobblestone streets of Glasgow, still reverberating with a DIY ethos. Bands like The Jam, The Who, and The Replacements bled into the brains of the band and informed the album as a whole - from the songwriting to the cover and even the photo shoots. It might finally be the answer to the age-old question: “Mods or Rockers?” …and the answer might be Both. Lead single “I Dunno” captures the energy and rawness of youth in a bottle, with all the stress and insecurity that comes along with it rising to the top. “The Beginning of the End of the World” touches on the poppier side of the group, with the yearning categorically reminiscent of iconic Sarah Records groups like East River Pipe and the Sugargliders. Some hits, like “Anymore”, are right out of the Mod playbook and others, like “What Happened to You?”, are born to wear leather. Most carve out a space all their own. One of the many highlights of Take It! is the medley that comprises most of the second half. While on one hand it illustrates a step- up in the ban;s songwriting, it also encompasses the principles of The Problem With Kids Today as a whole. Uncompromising, unceasing, unstoppable. Take It! is the culmination of 20-something years lived, a turn away from youthful indulgence into informed expertise. It sits at a new height of Tate and Silas's songwriting, with razor-sharp performances and unforgettable melodies, and a determination to be heard. Mods and Rockers will riot on the streets once again from the first strum of Take It! by The Problem With Kids Today. https://www.instagram.com/theproblemwithkidstoday/?hl=en https://www.facebook.com/TPWKT/ https://theproblemwithkidstoday.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/@theproblemwithkidstoday175

As musician and activist BILLY BRAGG makes a welcome return as a voice of countercultural sanity, we revisit the Lost History of Skiffle as he takes us on an extraordinary whirlwind tour through the music that the counterculture forgot. Along the way, we hear about the emergence of The Teenager in post-war Britain, the massive impact of Rock Around the Clock, the Soho espresso bar culture of the 50s and the birth of British youth culture. We explore why Skiffle, which soundtracked that youth culture for a few intense years and was the inspiration for musicians in The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who and The Rolling Stones, has been oddly forgotten. And Billy explains why, as the first British DIY musical revolution, Skiffle provided the template for the Punk movement of the 70s that was to inspire him. Along the way, we get educated about the post-war 'trad jazz' movement, the cultural stranglehold of the BBC - and the terrific transformatory power of a guy - or a girl - with a guitar. There's so much going on this week so we packed it all into one episode. First up, Neal and Stumpy John took an adventure ride up to the Lost Coast in N. Cali. Everything up there is either ocean, redwoods, pot farms or vineyards, so you know the ride was epic. Next up, we spent the weekend down at Laguna Seca for the MotoAmerica races. For some of us, we've been going for years, so we focus on test riding bikes and all the things the races have to offer. For Jake 2.0, it being his first time to the races AND Laguna Seca, it was all amazing. We share our test ride stories on the CF Moto 450 Ibex, 800 Ibex and the Papeo. And Jake talks about seeing the corkscrew up close, and then what it's like to experience on the track. Liza introduces a new game called Wrong Answers Only, and pretty much regrets it immediately. Steph just got back from the Mods and Rockers rally, where scooterists and bikers all get along. Chris shares has stories on returning from the Scooter Cannonball. As a long distance IBR rider, did he have what it takes to do it on a scooter? And lastly, we read listener emails and answer some questions. with Liza, Stumpy John, Neal, Jake 2.0, Naked Jim, Bagel, Chris Comly and Steph Yue. www.motorcyclesandmisfits.com motorcyclesandmisfits@gmail.com www.patreon.com/motorcyclesandmisfits www.zazzle.com/store/recyclegarage www.youtube.com/channel/UC3wKZSP0J9FBGB79169ciew https://womenridersworldrelay.com/ adifferentagenda.com/products/the-lost-tribe-25 motorcyclesandmisfits.com/shop Join our Discord at discord.gg/hpRZcucHCT
Here's a warning right from the outset: this is going to be a weird program…the performs and the music we're going to talk about are famous because of their weird, shocking behaviour…they set out to get our attention—and they did… Some of us appreciated what they were doing…but the vast majority didn't get them at all…they were branded as sick, deviant, sociopathic, psychopathic, and even criminal… Yet all found some measure of fame within certain corners of the rock universe…their antics may seem tame now, even quaint…but if we put these images and behaviors in the context of the times, it seemed like that antichrist's musicians were on earth, ready to lead the young dancing and singing towards the apocalypse… So, if you're listening to this program, please look around and asked yourself this question: “won't someone please think about the children?”… This is a look at some of the weirdest and most shocking rockers of all time… Learn more about your ad choices.
