Passage: 8 Then the word of the Lord came to him: 9 “Get up, go to Zarephath that belongs to Sidon and stay there. Look, I have commanded a woman who is a widow to provide for you there.” 10 So Elijah got up and went to Zarephath. When he arrived at the city gate, there was a widow gathering wood. Elijah called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup and let me drink.” 11 As she went to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.” 12 But she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I don't have anything baked — only a handful of flour in the jar and a bit of oil in the jug. Just now, I am gathering a couple of sticks in order to go prepare it for myself and my son so we can eat it and die.” 13 Then Elijah said to her, “Don't be afraid; go and do as you have said. But first make me a small loaf from it and bring it out to me. Afterward, you may make some for yourself and your son, 14 for this is what the Lord God of Israel says, ‘The flour jar will not become empty and the oil jug will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the surface of the land.' ” 15 So she proceeded to do according to the word of Elijah. Then the woman, Elijah, and her household ate for many days. 16 The flour jar did not become empty, and the oil jug did not run dry, according to the word of the Lord he had spoken through Elijah. -- 1 Kings 17:8-16 (CSB) Song: Miracles (https://open.spotify.com/track/3QzlaToAAD4RAI1NneP6uH?si=a976f4157aa5431e) by Chris Quilala, Dustin Smith, Joshua Silverberg, and Stuart Garrard Lyrics: The One who made the blind to see Is moving here in front of me Moving here in front of me The One who made the deaf to hear Is silencing my ev'ry fear Silencing my ev'ry fear I believe in You I believe in You You're the God of miracles I believe in You I believe in You You're the God of miracles The One who does impossible Is reaching out to make me whole Reaching out to make me whole The One who put death in its place His life is flowing through my veins His life is flowing through my veins The God who was and is to come The power of the Risen One The God who brings the dead to life You're the God of miracles You're the God of miracles Prayer: This is another day, O Lord. He was with the wild animals, and the angels were serving him. -- Mark 1:9-1 (CSB) Musical Reflection: Harp Meditation No. 3 by Gretchen Kirby Reflection Notes: This harp reflection features rich, full chords with a strong melody. The tension between major and minor chords reflects the challenges and triumphs of life. Prayer: Eternal Father, at the baptism of Jesus you revealed him to be your Son, and your Holy Spirit descended upon him like a dove: Grant that we, who are born again by water and the Spirit, may be faithful as your adopted children; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. The Long Island native, who now resides in Nashville, TN. Break it down.* Clint and his team break positions down to get as many people involved on their team as possible. This may mean breaking one position into four separate roles. They understand that most people are busy and aren't able to commit to a bigger position so they figured a way to get people to start serving on their team by breaking the roles down. *2. Share the share* Clint is very intentional about replacing himself. On a typical Sunday, his church will sing three songs and he makes sure that he leads no more than two of those songs. He looks to share the spotlight with other worship leaders whether it be through co-leading a song or them leading worship by themselves. *3. Know your audience* Clint and the Freedom House team know that they have both churched and unchurched people in the audience on Sunday mornings. This affects the words that they say from the stage so that they connect with people rather than confuse people. *Quotes to Tweet* "Comfort is the enemy of growth." - @cpugh @LearnersPodcast Click to Tweet ( http://ctt.ec/DcHEc ) "Expose yourself to bigger thinkers and better leaders than yourself." - @cpugh @LearnersPodcast Click to Tweet ( http://ctt.ec/2MHyf ) *New Episode Every Tuesday* Subscribe for free on iTunes! What Can Compare? - Written and composed by Ezekiel Chester. I've been listening to the song "Your Love Is Everything" this week by Chris McClarney (most will know it by Chris Quilala from Jesus Culture), as well as reading Psalm 24. Verse 3 and 4 say, "Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart". Having clean hands and a pure heart has been my prayer recently. And so today (November 25th 2010) I decided to sit down and worship for a bit with my guitar when this song started to flow. I wanted to record it to share it with all of you, and my prayer is that it will be a blessing to you - but most of all that it will be used to bless the name of the Lord, because truly there is none like Him! ezekiel.chester@rescueministries.ca
