Send us a textIn this episode of The Dirt Path Sermon Podcast, we journey into the often-overlooked book of Song of Songs, where a tender invitation becomes a wake-up call for our spiritual lives. Drawing from Song of Songs 2:14–15, Pastor Jason explores the metaphor of “little foxes” that sneak in and threaten to ruin the vineyards of our faith, relationships, and calling. This message was more than just a sermon—it was a physical, prayerful experience involving symbolic eggs, a real animal trap, and a powerful moment of surrender. While podcast listeners couldn't be in the room, you're invited to engage right where you are: reflect, respond, and consider what foxes might be quietly stealing the growth God is nurturing in your life. The episode closes with a heartfelt challenge, prayer, and a connection to the song “I Won't Let You Go” by Jon Foreman and Lauren Daigle—a reminder that God lovingly calls us out of hiding and won't let go, no matter what we're facing.Linkoln shares his story on why he started coming to Ravenna Church of the Nazarene and shares why you should consider doing the same.Ravenna Church of the Nazarene530 Main Street, Ravenna, KY 40472Enjoy this message? TODAY'S GUEST: Jon Foreman is the lead singer, guitarist, primary songwriter, and co-founder of the alternative rock band Switchfoot. As a true songwriter's songwriter, Foreman's songs have been sung by a truly wide array of artists including: Taylor Swift, Twenty One Pilots' Tyler Joseph, the Jonas Brothers, and Jon Bellion. From Mandy Moore to Meatloaf, his work is appreciated by quite a disparate cross section of the populace. His latest work, “In Bloom,” was crafted to accompany a drive down the coast on a California afternoon. Nuanced and subtle, the collection is a return to the restraint of Foreman's first solo effort. LINKS AND RESOURCES MENTIONED: Music & Meaning with Charlie Peacock Surprised by Grief with Daniel Harrell and Clarissa Moll ABOUT THE BULLETIN: The Bulletin is a weekly (and sometimes more!) current events show from Christianity Today hosted and moderated by Clarissa Moll, with senior commentary from Russell Moore (Christianity Today's editor in chief) and Mike Cosper (director, CT Media). Each week, the show explores current events and breaking news and shares a Christian perspective on issues that are shaping our world. On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Jon Foreman of Switchfoot. The early aughts band rang in a big milestone last year with the 20th anniversary of The Beautiful Letdown. They celebrated by curating a special deluxe edition, featuring newly recorded tracks from fans of the band — including the Jonas Brothers, twenty one pilots' Tyler Joseph, and Owl City, to name a few — in addition to a re-recorded version of the album and B-sides from the vault. After performing the record in its entirety last year, they're hitting the road again this summer with fellow vets Blue October and Matt Nathanson as part of a triple co-headliner, which features a rotating lineup every night. Goldberry is a St. Louis based indie-folk band, influenced by artists such as The Staves, JOSEPH, and Jon Foreman, Sarah Frechaut and Ein Prinster met and became best friends in high school. They both grew up in musical households and had experience playing music in church and school, but had a passion to do music in a different context-one where they could connect with people by writing and performing songs that were honest and comforting, the kind of music that was pivotal to them during hard times of their own lives. Their friendship led to the band and they started making music together in 2011 and played their first live show as Goldberry in 2015. Amy Huff officially joined the band in 2020 after recording lead guitar for the band's debut EP, Liminal Space. Amy's been playing music since she was a child and says her favourite thing about being a guitarist is to take what others have written and add something special to it. #Music #Interview #Conversations
Jon Foreman is a land artist. He creates work in natural spaces using natural materials like stones, sand, leaves and driftwood. Known for his mesmerising sculptures that harmonise with nature, Jon's work has captured the imagination of art enthusiasts worldwide. His artwork may last as little as 10 minutes before the sea washes it away, but his sculptures are not meant to last; his art is a testament to the beauty found in the ephemeral moment. From the ancient tools he uses to create his sculptures to the modern technology he employs to capture it, we follow Jon's creative process as he takes us to his favourite location to work - the pristine beach of Lindsway Bay on the Pembrokeshire coast, west Wales.
Jon Foreman is a land artist who uses the raw materials of the environment to create breathtaking ephemeral pieces. His ability to see creative potential all around him is his superpower, but when his life presents him with the unexpected, he has to become more narrowly focused on his responsibilities. In today's episode, Jon tells the story of how he eventually found his way back to his creativity, and gives himself grace for the times when his life is otherwise full.Listen to Jason Mraz's Mediative Story: "Finding the energy we need, all around us": https://listen.meditativestory.com/JasonMrazPIOVisit Jon's website: www.sculpttheworld.smugmug.comFind Jon on Facebook: www.facebook.com/sculpttheworldFind Jon on Instagram: www.instagram.com/sculpttheworldIf this episode resonates with you, we'd love to hear from you. The late 90s and early aughts were a banner time for a really specific type of rock band - the are-they-or-aren't-they a Christian band, band. Sixpence None the Richer. Creed. Evanescence. Lifehouse. Owl City. Paramore. They all had different sounds, but they left listeners wondering: are they - or aren't they - “Christian music?” This week on Rock that Doesn't Roll: does an artist who identifies as Christian have to brand their music as such? With insight from David Dark (author, We Become What We Normalize), hosts Andrew Gill (producer, Sound Opinions) and Leah Payne (author, God Gave Rock & Roll to You) follow the story of Jon Foreman, a pastor's kid from Carlsbad, California whose band Switchfoot created songs that resonated with youth group kids and climbed the Top 40 charts. Were they, or were they not, a Christian band? We explore efforts to rethink Christian music, and how mainstream superstars U2 led the way for bands like Switchfoot to wrestle with the marketing category of “Christian” - and find an enduring connection with their fans along the way. Everybody's talking about it, so today we are too. In this episode, we're exploring the implications of AI for construction. (And yes, we know it's not Friday.) (We touched on this topic in our conversation with Norine Bagate a couple weeks ago. Check out that episode if you missed it.) Tyler shares what he's read and seen about AI virtual assistants that can identify potential candidate (for podcast guests, for instance) and then write emails customized to each of them. He goes on to discuss some interesting insights from the Marketing Against the Grain podcast. Eddie shares about a dismal experience with Shopify's AI DJ, which acted confusingly on his love of the Interstellar soundtrack and also gave him some wonderfully mellow Jon Foreman tunes right as he was ready to work out. As we shift to construction, Tyler asks Eddie where he thinks the greatest amount of disruption will occur. He suspects that the first significant impact will be on research-based tasks, such as those involved in architecture and engineering. Tyler predicts that the changes will be huge but that it may also be a bit slower than expected. He's guessing that today's kids will expect AI. They'll integrate it intuitively into their daily activities. With this in mind, we discuss the “generational” difference even between the two of us (who are only 13 years apart): Eddie's knee-jerk reaction is not to use technology. His first instinct is to figure it out with his own two hands and with books. If he has a question, he goes for the manual. Tyler is likely to just Google it. That will likely bring him back to digital versions of the same source, but the way a person engages with it is different. We compare AI/ChatGPT with Google search as far as how they may affect our approach to questions, problems, and solutions. We discuss exclamation points as a generational identifier. Eddie discusses the hesitations he continues to feel in the shift toward paperless documentation. Tyler entered the industry when that shift had already taken place. Is it all doom and gloom? Tyler hopes not. He's hopeful that AI will speed up processes that are currently unnecessarily slow. Eddie's prediction is that the first big change will involve crawling models for codified deficiencies as well as code compliance. As municipalities come on board, the movement will grow. Tyler speculates that insurance companies may soon require that plans go through an AI check. Today's 10-year-olds, such as Eddie's daughter, can design entire homes on their tablets. They're deeply immersed in technology that even some architects are still struggling to adopt. Design, Tyler thinks, will become less intense. The collection of options and modules available to meet a specific use will be much greater. We don't want to quit having ideas. We want buildings to continue to have a personality. We want people to continue to have to solve problems. This won't be easy. It won't be quick. There's an intuition that comes with being human. We hope it will enhance and facilitate imagination rather than You've likely heard about the AI-generated song that was originally claimed to be by Drake and The Weeknd. We close by pondering: Is there any chance that this will all go the way of 80s synth? Ten years from now, might there be nostalgia for long-form blog posts? Prayer is so simple, but often times our minds convolute and complicate it. Today we're exploring how to encounter God through prayer, and I pray you take away a simplified, childlike approach to spending time with your heavenly Father. May your heart and mind be at peace today as you encounter the living God. Our Scripture for today comes from Jeremiah 33:3, and today's worship is House of God Forever by Jon Foreman. -- Faith doesn't happen on its own. It's a byproduct of time spent experiencing the faithfulness of our God. It's a gift given to us by the Giver of good gifts, himself. It was a supernatural faith that allowed Paul to sing even while in chains. It was supernatural faith that allowed Peter to proclaim the gospel, even unto death. And it's supernatural faith that will carry you to and through the greatest gospel opportunities in front of you. We pray our printed devotionals, Faith and Trust, help people like you experience the life changing reality that faith and trust have on your everyday life. With Faith you'll: Discover a Biblical framework for living faithfully Study powerful moments of God's faithfulness in scripture Tear down personal strongholds in your life where you struggle with faith Develop a lifestyle of faith, that weathers the storms of life And every dollar you give today goes to help more people like you experience the nearness and love of our God. Everything changes when we learn to trust and become filled with faith in our good, good God. Get your copy at supportfirst15.org!
