Welcome back! Today, I want to do a deep dive into supplements. This is for our health series. Of course, there's no way I can't talk about supplements. I've been reading and studying the supplement world for a long time.    My goal today is to give you a realistic look at supplements and what they can and can't do. I want to debunk the myth that we can get the majority of everything we need from our food alone. I have some really interesting data to support this. So whether you love them or hate them, this will be a fascinating episode for you.   Favorite Quotes:  03:00 - “Even if you're eating really healthy, it is very difficult for you to eat enough food to get your minimum RDA levels of vitamins and minerals every day.” 04:01 - “Most important is a multivitamin. A multivitamin is like your daily safety net. It's gonna fill in the gaps where your diet will fall short.” 05:28 - “Another one that I'm obsessed with and I think everyone should take as a supplement is magnesium. Magnesium is a powerhouse. I love it because magnesium is involved in over 300 processes in your body.”  18:13 - “Multivitamins help us feel better in the time that we have to live.” 21:48 - “However many years the Lord has given us, we want to feel good. We want to live them abundantly. We want to thrive. We don't just want to limp through life and that takes educating ourselves. It takes empowering ourselves.”   Recommendations: This week I'm currently loving The Rose Code by Kate Quinn. It's historical fiction that dives into the lives of three women code breakers during WWII. If you're like me and haven't read it yet, you just may love it.   I know what great song you'll love, Everything Has Breath by Bryan and Katie Torwalt and Jesus Culture. It's upbeat. It's the perfect song to put on, roll the windows down, and sing and praise through it all.   Things I love and think you will too: Pure Encapsulations    Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega-3    Pure Encapsulations O.N.E. Passage: 7 He showed me this: The Lord was standing there by a vertical wall with a plumb line in his hand. 8 The Lord asked me, “What do you see, Amos? ” I replied, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will no longer spare them: 9 Isaac's high places will be deserted, and Israel's sanctuaries will be in ruins; I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with a sword.” 10 Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to King Jeroboam of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you right here in the house of Israel. The land cannot endure all his words, 11 for Amos has said this: ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will certainly go into exile from its homeland.' ” 12 Then Amaziah said to Amos, “Go away, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah. Earn your living and give your prophecies there, 13 but don't ever prophesy at Bethel again, for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal temple.” 14 So Amos answered Amaziah, “I was not a prophet or the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman, and I took care of sycamore figs. 15 But the Lord took me from following the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.' ” -- Amos 7:7-15 (CSB) Song: Prophesy Your Promise (https://open.spotify.com/track/4X0WNlQtcoGOf4mWlUIeD7?si=a05beca429a94a25) by Bryan and Katie Torwalt and Mack Brock Lyrics: I found You in the middle of my mess You had been there all along Open arms and open heart You called me in You didn't hesitate at all And the lies I once believed They crumble With the weight of Your truth And the fear that gripped my heart Is arrested So that I can see You When I only see in part I will prophesy Your promise I believe You God 'Cause You finish what You start I will trust You in the process I believe You (God) You set a table in the middle of my war You knew the outcome of it all When what I faced looked like it would never end You said watch the giants fall Fear can go to hell Shame can go there too I know whose I am (God) I belong to You I belong Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name; your kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. On today's episode, we chat with Mack Brock! Centricity Music recording artist and songwriter Mack Brock is one of the founding members of GRAMMY Award-winning Elevation Worship. Co-penning some of Elevation's earliest hits, like RIAA certified Double Platinum® single “O Come To The Altar,” Platinum-certified “Do It Again” and Gold-certified “Resurrecting,” Brock has also written songs recorded by Phil Wickham, Jesus Culture, Passion, Pat Barrett and Bryan & Katie Torwalt, among others. After a decade with Elevation Worship, Brock released his debut, Greater Things, which garnered him a radio hit with the title-cut. The five-track Covered EP followed the next year, and 2020's SPACE cemented Brock as a bonafide solo artist. His newest single, the anthemic “Just Like You've Always Done,” which is his first for Centricity Music, was co-written with Hank Bentley and Jessie Early. The song boasts of the consistency of God yesterday, today and forever. “It's the launching pad of what we believe,” Brock says of the fresh track. “He is the same as He's always been. He's the same God that's the lead character in all the stories we've read in Scripture. He's still working miracles.” The strength of Brock's new music rides on the hope he finds in the unfolding story his family is living. The South Carolina native and his wife, Meredith, who currently serves as the CEO of Proverbs 31 Ministries, have three children. From the unexpected joy discovered in foster parenting to leaving the known to pursue the unknown, Brock writes songs to remind his own heart and encourage others that there's an all-knowing God who is sovereign over it all and is worthy of all our praise. “With my music, I'm just trying to relive all the times God has shown up,” he says. “I want to use that as a catalyst to build my faith and, hopefully, encourage others in their faith for the future as well.” mackbrock.com @mackbrock christianmusicguys.com @christianmusicguys --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christianmusicguys/message

Today we're going to explore the role of the Holy Spirit in living with the joy available to us in God. Know that as a believer, the Holy Spirit is with you, ready to search the heart of God for you, and to give you this free gift of joy, if you'll simply trust him and receive it.   May your relationship with the Spirit deepen today, and yield a joy so real and strong that no trial or tribulation could come against it. Our Scripture for today comes from 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7, and today's worship is  Joy of the Lord by Dante Bowe and Katie Torwalt. -- I'm Craig Denison, author of First15. Thank you so much for listening to today's devotional on joy from the Spirit.    Take a moment, before you go, to just reflect on what the Lord has done in your life today. Reflect on what God's doing as you're creating space to meet with him. And think about how that's impacting not only your life, but also how you engage with others around you. Reflecting on the fruit of meeting with God is a powerful tool in developing consistency, faith, and ultimately fully centering your life around the purpose for which you were created, relationship.    Have a wonderful rest of your day today, and may God bless you as you seek him.

Opening: O Lord, open our lips and our mouths will declare Your praise. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen. The Scripture for today is Philippians 1:1-11 Passage: Paul and Timothy, servants[a] of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers[b] and deacons:[c] 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanksgiving and Prayer 3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. 7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace,[d] both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. 8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.

Preach the Word 4 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound[c] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. Musical Reflection: “Amazing Grace,” Appalachian folk tune Reflection Notes: This beloved tune, formally known as NEW BRITAIN, originates from the folk music of Appalachia. The melody is simple and outlines triads, making it memorable; the ascending line creates a triumphant climax. Prayer: Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who care for us: Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. How was the Bible created? Why do we need to interpret the Bible? What is the Bible about? What are the best tools for studying the Bible? What can I learn from others? How can I learn for myself?   I love that the goal of this book is not to learn more about the Bible (even though you will), but to better understand the Bible as one of the primary ways God seeks to have a relationship with us today.  Get your copy today  at supportfirst15.org!

Most of the time our emotional happiness is based on our life's circumstances. As we continue our week on the simplicity of love, today we'll be taking a look at the joy that comes from living a love-based life. Once we know that God's love is for us always, unconditionally—no matter what, our hope is secure and joy is ours for the taking. May you walk in joy today as you lean into this love-based reality a bit more. Our Scripture for today comes from Philippians 4:4, and today's worship is Joy of the Lord (feat. Katie Torwalt, Dante Bowe & Naomi Raine) by Maverick City Music | TRIBL. --   Faith doesn't happen on its own. It's a byproduct of time spent experiencing the faithfulness of our God. It's a gift given to us by the Giver of good gifts, himself.    It was a supernatural faith that allowed Paul to sing even while in chains. It was supernatural faith that allowed Peter to proclaim the gospel, even unto death. And it's supernatural faith that will carry you to and through the greatest gospel opportunities in front of you.    We pray our printed devotionals, Faith and Trust, help people like you experience the life changing reality that faith and trust have on your everyday life.     With Faith you'll:    Discover a Biblical framework for living faithfully Study powerful moments of God's faithfulness in scripture Tear down personal strongholds in your life where you struggle with faith Develop a lifestyle of faith, that weathers the storms of life   And every dollar you give today goes to help more people like you experience the nearness and love of our God.    Everything changes when we learn to trust and become filled with faith in our good, good God. As we reach the middle of our week-long focus on stirring up our affections for God, today we're going to create space to simply delight in God's love. Oftentimes focusing on the simple, foundational aspects of our relationship with God will produce more fruit than trying to journey beyond them. And I pray that God reveals his love in a tangible and fresh way today for you and me as we open our hearts to meet with him. Our Scripture for today comes from John 17:26, and today's worship is Joy of the Lord (feat. Katie Torwalt, Dante Bowe & Naomi Raine) by Maverick City Music | TRIBL. -- We are so excited to share our latest worship song, Coming Through, featuring Jeremiah Brinkley! Check it out on the various streaming platforms here or over at our YouTube channel, here! -- There are two things you and I need most: secure connection and unconditional love.  It's impossible to live with confidence unless we have the sense of self that comes from secure connection with our heavenly Father. And it's impossible to fully love ourselves and others unless we experience and trust in the unconditional love of the one who gave us life.  We pray our printed devotionals, Closer and Love, help people like you experience the connection and unconditional love available to you in God every morning.   Everything changes when we live from a place of secure connection and unending love.
