In today's episode, my daughter Grace comes back to talk about her favorite Christmas traditions and memories. We also talk about some recent romantic Christmas movies I've seen lately. Then, for our cozy story, I read Chapter 3 of "Old Christmas" by Washington Irving. In the chapter today, our narrator arrives at Bracebridge Hall on Christmas Eve, and continues to observe the old traditions.  If you have a questions for Gracie, let me know and it might appear on an upcoming episode! Hello everyone! Today's episode was intended for Halloween, then it was intended for Christmas Podcast Day, then it was intended for yesterday... But it's here now, so better late than never, right?! In today's episode I talk about another delicious recipe I tried - Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll Muffins. I highly recommend! Then for our story I read the odd but charming story "Little Roger's Night in the Church" by Susan Coolidge. What happens when a young boy gets accidently locked in a church on Christmas Eve? Some very strange things like talking owls, fairies, and more!  Here's a better recipe that I found, called Pumpkin Cinnamon Streusel Muffins: https://sweetkitchencravings.com/recipes/pumpkin-cinnamon-streusel-muffins/    Timestamps: 00:00 This Week's Recipe: Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll Muffins 07:52 Story Introduction 11:21 Story: Little Roger's Night in the Church 32:47 Thoughts on the Story   Ways to support the show: Rate and review: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-cozy-christmas-podcast/id1523423375  Buy me a coffee? www.ko-fi.com/cozychristmas  Ornaments, Mugs, and Notebooks: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CozyChristmasPodcast  Logo shirt designs: http://tee.pub/lic/edygC_h4D1c    Contact Me: facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cozychristmaspodcast  instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cozychristmaspodcast/  twitter: https://twitter.com/CozyXmasPod  youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCikiozEbu0h9pKeI1Ei5TQ email: cozychristmaspodcast@gmail.com       #christmas #cozychristmas #podcast #christmaspodcast #christmaspodcastday

Happy Leon Day! (A day late - sorry about that...)  Today I share a couple of Christmas book recommendations, and read you a cozy Christmas story called Christmas in the Alley by Olive Thorne Miller. Ann is a poor old washer woman with a heart of gold. Her husband is curmudgeon who just wants his tea and pipe. Like many people during the early 1900s they are living in extreme poverty. In spite of that, Ann often helps those in need. On Christmas Eve, she realizes that she has no money to help her and her family celebrate the day. Will there be a Christmas miracle? Probably... but what Ann does with the Christmas miracle really makes this story shine.  Books Mentioned: The Christmas Train by David Balducci Death of a Christmas Caterer by Lee Hollis Find out more about the author: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harriet_Mann_Miller    Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction 01:35 Cozy Book Corner: The Christmas Train by David Balducci 06:35 Death of Christmas Caterer by Lee Hollis,  09:16 Introducing the story - author bio 12:41 Christmas in the Alley - A Christmas Story by Olive Thorne Miller 29:18 Thoughts on the Story and Conclusion   Ways to support the show: Rate and review: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-cozy-christmas-podcast/id1523423375  Buy me a coffee? www.ko-fi.com/cozychristmas  Ornaments, Mugs, and Notebooks: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CozyChristmasPodcast  Logo shirt designs: http://tee.pub/lic/edygC_h4D1c    Contact Me: facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cozychristmaspodcast  instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cozychristmaspodcast/  twitter: https://twitter.com/CozyXmasPod  youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCikiozEbu0h9pKeI1Ei5TQ email: cozychristmaspodcast@gmail.com       #podcast #christmas #christmaspodcast #leonday #christmasstory

"Jumping Jingle Bells!" In honor of Christmas Podcast Day, Robert is stepping into the Delorean to take the time jump to 1991. He does a little deep dive into the Back to the Future animated series and the Christmas episode that was produced, "Dickens of a Christmas". While the Back to the Future trilogy is Robert's all time favorite set of movies, the animated series is a mixed bag... and Dickens of a Christmas is not a better one. There's still a lot to take in from a story about Ebenezer Tannon getting a visit from a ghostly Marty on a hoverboard, Doc recusing his boys Jules and Verne from a Sykes-like figure, and taking the Delorean to Victorian England. Robert also explores the cartoon's history and how the same team from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures were tasked with briging another time travel series to life. This year the Christmas Podcast Network is covering adaptations of “A Christmas Carol!” I've got Santa Ambassador Matt Spaulding from  North Pole Radio with me to talk about “The Real Ghostbusters” season 1 episode ‘Xmas Marks the Spot!'The Ghostbusters are driving back from a bust when they inadvertently enter a rift in the space-time continuum. This time slip transports them back to London in 1837. They pick up massive readings in the PKE meter and follow them to their he house of Ebenezer Scrooge. Seeing ghosts, the boys take action and bust the spectral figures, not really they trapped the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. Scrooge is initially grateful, but quickly becomes flabbergasted when they demand payment. When the ghostbusters return to the future, people are cruel and selfish, and it seems that Christmas has been eradicated. It turns out that Scrooge was so furious over having to pay for their services, that he wrote a book denigrating the holiday. The ghostbusters have no choice but to launch a counter operation on two fronts: Egon will go into the containment unit to retrieve the benevolent spirits, and Peter, Winston, and Ray will go back to the past and pretend to be the ghosts in order to scare Scrooge straight. Spoiler alert! They succeed.Christmas carols? Check. Ebenezer Scrooge? Yep. Blonde wigs and pink tutus? Well…only if for pretending to be a ghost. Up first is Jazz singer Yuki Izumine's 2008 alubm, “Let It Snow!” Then join me for another fantastic compilation, “Christmas Songs,” from 2010. Plus, keep in mind that November 1st is Christmas Podcast Day. A bunch of us Christmas podcasters will be releasing special episodes. Stay tuned for further details. As always, any feedback on this episode would be appreciated. If have any suggestions, or if you'd like to recommend a song or album for a future episode, drop me a line and let me know. Remember, I've added a button to my Ko-fi page. If you'd like to support me one cup of coffee at a time, a donation is only $3. I've also opened a Redbubble store. I only have a couple designs up, but keep an eye on it as I'll be trying to add more. Half of any proceeds or donations received will be donated to support the people of Ukraine, while the rest will be used to purchase new Japanese Christmas music to review for future episodes. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. And if you get a chance, leave me a review on iTunes. Thanks!

Welcome to episode 63 of Holly Jolly X'masu! For Christmas Podcast Day, I've remastered one of my earliest episodes, where I discussed Jackey Yoshikawa's 1966 album, “Christmas With Blue Comets.” November 1st is Christmas Podcast Day. It kicks off the peak season for Christmas podcasters, and a lot of us try to do something special to mark the day. This year, I'm revisiting my fifth episode. I've added a new introduction, replaced the original music with the re-recorded songs at the correct speed, and replaced the intro and exit music with a few songs from Jackey's 1967 EP, “Roseate Christmas.” Listening to the original episode, I cringed a bit, but I also enjoyed hearing how much I've improved over the past two years. I've also gotten a lot better at editing so, even though this one was a chore, it wasn't nearly as bad as if I'd re-edited it a couple years ago. Since the original episode came out, I've added to my Jackey Yoshikawa collection as well. I managed to get the LP with the “lounge” cover, and the “Jingle Bells” EP, which contains four tracks from the album. There was a third variant of the LP, and a single with the same cover as the EP, but I haven't bothered with those. I hope you've enjoyed this revamped look at Jackey Yoshikawa. I hope you're also able to find the time to check out some of the other great Christmas podcasts out there. As I said, this is the start of the busiest time of the year for Christmas podcasters. I have a bunch of episodes lined up for the next two months. Tune in the rest of the month as I talk about artists who were “Big In Japan.” Then join me in December as I look at some really spectacular albums, including an unknown gem of a compilation. Welcome to episode 62 of Holly Jolly X'masu! In this episode, I'll be talking about the 2010 compilation, “We Wish You A Happy.” A lot of my collecting requires leaps of faith. So many of the albums I buy aren't available online, so I can't sample them in advance. This is especially true of the older ones, but even a lot of the music from the 1990s and later still can't be streamed. I learned early on that the bloggers I rely on for recommendations have vastly different tastes than I do, so while a recommendation from them may be a start, I try to look for something else in their comments or the album's content to convince me that I might like a particular album. “We Wish You A Happy” was one where I had nothing to go on other than recommendations a clip of Riddim Saunter's “Guest Of A Christmas.” I was glad I put my doubts aside and got it, though, because it turned out to be an enjoyable album. I hope that at least a couple of the songs here suited your tastes. I felt there was enough variety that nearly anyone could find something to enjoy. I have some great and unique albums lined up, so be sure to tune in in November. Up first, for Christmas Podcast Day on November 1st, I'll be revisiting one of my earliest episodes. I've remastered Episode 5, where I talked about Jackey Yoshikawa's “Christmas With Blue Comets.” You'll get to hear more of the albums plus a few songs from Jackey's later Christmas EP. Then listen in the rest of the month as I talk about artists who were “Big In Japan.” I'll be talking about everyone from figure skater Janet Lynn, to the Ventures, Jimmy Osmond and others, including a couple of hard to find records that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Happy November everyone! And happy Christmas Podcast Day! Have you ever wondered if a relative or friend might just be Santa Claus? Today I share a listener's memory of how his family member dressed up as Santa Claus one Christmas. His story reminds me of a Christmas tale that I read in the episode - "Old Father Christmas" by Juliana Horatia Ewing. It tells the story of two small children who think a local elderly man they meet near their house might just be Santa Claus. There's a few other odds and ends packed away in the episode, and be sure to check out the Cozy Christmas YouTube channel to see Gracie and I give some Christmas gift ideas as we look through some Christmas catalogues.
