Twitter owner Elon Musk teased that "what really happened with the Hunter Biden story" and its suppression by the social media giant in 2020 would be revealed Friday afternoon. "What really happened with the Hunter Biden story suppression by Twitter will be published on Twitter at 5pm ET!" he wrote, in a tweet that went viral immediately. Musk has promised to bring greater transparency to Twitter since he officially took over in October.  Officials say Fresno County has been hit with respiratory illnesses like the Flu, RSV, and COVID-19, & has local hospitals and emergency rooms overwhelmed. The Fresno County Health Department announced on Thursday that people who are not seeking life or limb-threatening emergencies should seek health care through a primary care physician, telehealth, or urgent care.  Sandra Brown is one of two employees accused of helping Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters allow a copy of a hard drive to be made during an update of election equipment last year in search of proof of the false conspiracy theories spun by former President Donald Trump.  Brown, 45, pleaded guilty to attempting to influence a public servant, a felony, and official misconduct, a misdemeanor, but will not be sentenced until right after she testifies at Peters' trial next year so her performance on the witness stand can be considered.    A Georgia man is behind bars after questioning why he wasn't among the most wanted people in his county. The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office posted a list of their ten “most wanted” violent offenders on social media. Just a few hours after making the post, Christopher Spaulding entered the comment section and asked, “How about me?” The sheriff's office shortly replied to Spaulding's comment saying, “You are correct you have two warrants, we are on the way.”   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Celebrating Yellowstone National Park: Episode II

Between the fur trade and prospecting eras is a brief period of missionary and military exploration which advanced the general knowledge of the Yellowstone region. maps and writings these explorers became the means of preserving important residual and accurate geographical information amassed by the men of the fur trade. Jim Bridger provided most of the information set on paper. The Bridger map is essentially a hydrographic sketch of amazing accuracy.   The Park's Early Years  The park's promoters envisioned Yellowstone National Park would exist at no expense to the government. Superintendents received little or no compensation, little help, and often succumbed to politics. Although they were able to build roads, trails, and structures, they failed to stop the destruction of wildlife. Poachers, squatters, woodcutters, and vandals ravaged Yellowstone.  The Army Arrives  On August 20, 1886, the U.S. Army took charge of the administration and protection of Yellowstone. The Army strengthened and enforced regulations, guarded major attractions, and patrolled the vast interior of the park. However, running a park was not the Army's usual line of work. The troops could protect the park and ensure access, but they could not fully satisfy the visitor's desire for knowledge. Moreover, each of the 14 other national parks established during this period was separately administered, resulting in uneven management, inefficiency, and a lack of direction.  The National Park Service Begins  In 1916, Congress passed the National Park Service Organic Act, creating the National Park Service. Yellowstone's first rangers, which included veterans of Army service in the park, became responsible for Yellowstone in 1918. The park's first superintendent under the new National Park Service was Horace M. Albright, who established a framework of management that guided the administration of Yellowstone for decades.  The Legacy of Yellowstone  The years have shown that the legacy of those who worked to establish Yellowstone National Park in 1872 was far greater than simply preserving a unique landscape. This one act has led to a lasting concept—the national park idea. This idea conceived wilderness to be the inheritance of all people, who gain more from an experience in nature than from private exploitation of the land. Scores of nations have preserved areas of natural beauty and historical worth so that all people will have the opportunity to reflect on their natural and cultural heritage and to return to nature and be spiritually reborn. Of all the benefits resulting from the establishment of Yellowstone National Park, this may be the greatest.  Courtesy of http://www.yellowstonenationalpark.org/blog/yellowstone-history/    About our Wyoming historian and narrative from Jeremy Johnston:  Growing up in Wyoming  Jeremy M. Johnston was born in Powell, Wyoming. He was fortunate to be raised near his paternal and maternal grandparents, as well as two great-grandmothers who resided in Cody, Wyoming, and a great-grandfather who lived in Arizona. Johnston's maternal grandparents, the Bevers, homesteaded on the Garland Division of the Shoshone Irrigation district in 1913. His paternal grandparents, the Johnston and Spaulding families, settled near Cody, Wyoming, in the late 1890s. His great-great-grandfather was John B. Goff, a hunting guide for Theodore Roosevelt in Colorado who later managed Buffalo Bill's Wapiti stage stop located on the Cody to Yellowstone road. As a young boy, Johnston listened to numerous stories about his family's past experiences and began to see how their past experiences tied him to Wyoming and how the history of the region shaped current sociopolitical issues and the culture of the State of Wyoming. This experience led him to become a professional historian.  For More Information  Indians of Yellowstone Park, revised edition, 2002. Joel C. Janetski Journal of a Trapper, 1997. Melissa's mission is to help women move past their past and to live an adventurous life. Melissa helps women work through trauma, depression and anxiety.  One tool in Melissa's arsenal is EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitazation & Reprocessesing. This mode of therapy allows the receiptient to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in their brains. There are three brains; the head, the heart and the body and as Bessel van der Kolk taught us,  the body keeps the score.  Melissa looks at our memories like sticky notes. When we think of sticky notes they are usually so you can take a number or name or notation. Something imortant at the time, but may not be necessary to hold on to long term. That's where EMDR comes in. It helps you clear the mental sticky notes and stop holding on to memories that no longer require you to hold on to them.  Melissa Spaulding can be found at guidedwellnesscounselingut.com. Ross Caputi and Scott Spaulding join us to discuss The Sacking of Fallujah, both the event and the book which Ross co-wrote.  Fallujah is seen by the American empire as a great victory over the burgeoning Sunni insurgency during the early years of Operation Iraqi Freedom, but for the people of Fallujah and their descendants, it is nothing less than the entire destruction and poisoning of their people and land.  Birth defects are rampant among the population, spurred by the use of heavy munitions like white phosphorus, depleted uranium, and thermobariacs, which have destroyed the environment for generations. Ross' book, The Sacking of Fallujah: A People's History (Culture and Politics in the Cold War and Beyond), is a great primer on the subject, as well as a detailed microcosm of the war in Iraq and its tactics.  I consider it a must-buy. One of the things I love most about having a podcast is the amazing connections I make because of it. I met Matt Spaulding of Spaulding Communications at NeoCon this past year and it was because of this podcast. Listen as he shares his story and why thought leadership is so important to building a brand and business that people trust. As with most of us, Matt happened into the contract interiors industry. He was working for a PR and Marketing firm and a couple of his really good clients were companies within the industry. After 9/11 happened, the firm decided they needed to shut down one of their branches and cut ties with the clients that those branches were serving. He reached out to the heads of some of the companies he was working with and let them know that he'd be happy to take them on in his own business. They agreed and several of them are still with him today. When building a brand, it's important to realize that thought leadership is the key to client and customer trust. In order to build trust you have to have written communications that show your potential clients and customers what it would be like to work with you. This is exactly what Matt does. Listen in to hear his thoughts about the importance of thought leadership, why the words you use in relation to your brand are more important than your logo, and examples of how he's helped his clients reach new heights. Such great nuggets of information were shared during this conversation and you won't want to miss out.In this episode:[01:47] Welcome to the show Matt Spaulding![04:30] How he ended up in the industry.[07:34] Learn what a marketing communications company does.[15:12] Matt gives us his definition of thought leadership and why he believes it's so important.[18:22] When people give you their email address they are saying that it's okay to talk to them.[22:31] People want to connect with people which is another key to thought leadership.[26:00] There are two sides to marketing communications, the promotion side and the company values side.[29:38] What he believes companies need to do differently with their marketing.[34:40] Share the story behind your product, whose idea it was, why is the design important or what materials are you using to help the environment.Links & Resources:The InsiderSupport the Trend ReportConnect with Matt:Spaulding CommunicationsLinkedIn | Facebook | Twitter Connect with Sid:www.sidmeadows.comEmbark CCT on FacebookSid on LinkedInSid on InstagramSid on YouTubeSid on Clubhouse - @sidmeadowsThe Trend Report is proudly sponsored by the Insider, a weekly newsletter delivering a quick dose of insight to get your Monday off to a well-informed start. Welcome to episode seventy-three of New Creation Conversations. It's a joy for me today to get to have a conversation with one of my favorite young scholars and ministers, Dr. Henry Spaulding III – better known to his family and friends as “Hank.” Hank is the Associate Campus Pastor and Assistant Professor of Theology at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He's an alum of Trevecca Nazarene University, has Master's Degree in Theological Studies from Duke Divinity School, and has a PhD in Christian Ethics from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Hank and I talk about the unique challenges of campus ministry, but we also talk about his two writing projects – one out and one in process. The project that is out is The Just and Loving Gaze of God with Us: Paul's Apocalyptic Political Theology (published by Wipf and Stock). This book is an edited version of Hank's dissertation work and is an interesting look at the recent interest in the Apostle Paul by non-Christian political scholars and reflects on what they get right but also what they often misunderstand about Paul's political theology. The project that is forthcoming is Iconoclastic Sex – it is a quantitative and theological study of the problem of sex trafficking and Christian sexual ethics. Both are interesting works, and both are deeply connected to the vision of a new creation. It is always encouraging to me to get to connect with young scholars. I'm deeply thankful for those like Hank who have a passion for deep theological reflection and for church ministry. I'm thankful that people like him are picking up the baton and carrying it forward.
