Wake the Faith up Slayer… This is Garth Heckman with the David Alliance and you can reach me at TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com Gym Apparel for men and women that rocks and shocks and ain't for everybody - but just might be for you. wellbuiltbody.com What did you eat for breakfast today? what about yesterday? What about 3 days ago… if you known and you can answer for all 3 days you probably are eating the same thing and its probably not very good for you. If… and I say IF breakfast is the most important meal of the day.. why do we eat piles of outdated highly sugared cardboard substituted Quote unquote wheat based or grain based garbage. In the united states there are over 2.7 billion boxes of cereal eaten a year. and over a 1000 different varieties… including warm cereals like oatmeal, grits, cornmeal and porridge… porridge? Really… when was the last time you had porridge… ME? never. Does cold pizza count as breakfast? probably not. We spend over 11 Billion dollars on cereal a year… The average person eats 3 pounds of sugar a year just in cereal… and who eats the most cereal? Why our kids of course… because kids of all people deserve to be started off in life with garbage carbohydrates and volumous amounts of sugar and a get in free to the dentist card. You say Garth where is this going? I don't know… well actually the point is this. We all have our habits for breakfast… and typically our worst eating habits are our first meal of the day. So my question to you is “what do you feed your spirit first in the day?” I can tell you right now, for many its not much better than what we feed our physical bodies in the mornings. We feed it what tastes good. News, music, a podcast (except mine of course) but seriously think about this… when you eat a good healthy breakfast- lets say 2 eggs, bacon, some oatmeal and a glass of grapefruit juice… once your done with that you don't typically crave cereal. No one says, great breakfast but what was missing was frosted flakes I hear theeeerrreeee great. How much of our human inner appetites would starve if we had a solid daily spiritual meal in the morning. You don't have to eat a lot but you should eat regularly. You should eat a balanced spiritual diet of Gods word, prayer and praise. And when you read scripture actually read the bible and not just a devotional. I love devotionals, I have quite a few myself, but it is the crunch berry of my spiritual food. What do I mean? Crunchberries do not have any berries actually in them. Just some strawberry syrup. A devotional is just the syrup… the bible is the meat and potatoes… and is there any better breakfast than steak and potatoes? or hash browns… Mark 1:35 Verse Concepts In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. Psalm 5:3 Verse Concepts In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. Psalm 63:1-5 O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my flesh faints for You, in a dry and thirsty land with no water. 2 I have seen You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. 3 Because Your loving kindness is better than life, my lips will praise You. 4 Thus will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth will praise You with joyful lips. There is something about seeking God's presence early in the stillness of the morning. That is the time when our minds and hearts are the clearest.
Hello again Backstory fans! This week marks 2 years since we started Backstory Sessions, and we are foever grateful to our awesome listeners, as well as our amazing guests. We thank you all for making this podcast a passion project for us. Our guests on this episode are our friend Dr. Cheryl, who joined us on a previous episode ("A Good Approach") to chat about the topic of obesity, and also Tesa Edge, who is a life coach at Dr. Cheryl's practice. We talk with these knowledgeable ladies about some of the myths surrounding weight loss, which, as you probably know is a maze of misinformation, partial truths, and money making scams. It is a very interesting episode, where they dispel some of the misinformation out there about a range of different topic related to weight loss. If you want to know how much water you should be drinking daily, or if Crunchberries can be considered a fruit, this episode will tell you. Dr. Cheryl and Tesa share some of the science and numbers involved in weight loss, as well as things that they do to help the clients they work with daily. We are so happy to have Dr. Cheryl back, and to have Tesa join us for this fun and informative episode.

Since the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series came in second in our recent franchise poll (which Nightmare on Elm Street won) we thought it would be fun to do a couple minisodes on collaborations between TCM director Tobe Hooper and actor Robert Englund. With Hooper directing the pilot episode of the Freddy's Nightmares television show, we thought it would be a great place to start! As the episode title indicates, the resulting recording did not go the way we expected. But we think it's a very fun conversation, particularly for long-time listeners. So we hope everyone has fun with this minisode, and as always: thanks so much for listening!!
We're back with more crunchberries this week, and this time we had our old friend Brian Brown back to hangout with us. We talk a lot about food (cereal, ice cream, Mac n cheese, Mac n cheese-ice cream, etc.), Michelle gives us a run down on a tictock conspiracy she is clearly invested in, and we talk about a guy who would stop at nothing to make his flight. We also played a couple games called "prize inside" (about cereal) and "coo coo competitions & goofy games" (about unusual competitions from around the world). It's a bit all over the place, but we had so much fun. If you're enjoying the show we would love your support. Happy Thanksgiving weekend, everyone! We hope you're relaxing and getting to eat all the good food. Thanksgiving this year is much different than any we've had, so we thought we'd celebrate (or mourn depending on your mindset) by doing a special episode we are naming "Oops! All Crunchberries!". This means we did a whole episode with only the fun bits from our usual episodes. We had our bestie Pat Houston on to help us out, and we discussed some hilarious news of the week, played some games, and answered some Twitter questions. We hope you like this episode and will check in with our usual segment next week!If you like what you hear, we'd love your support to keep us going! Okay kids, it's time for a good clean fight as we talk about our favorite skirmish games! This is the last episode we recorded before we all went into lockdown, so next month may be a little different...but we'll see how it goes. In the interim, stay safe, wash your hands, and try to get some games in (Tabletop Simulator is a lifesaver in times like these). We discover that the "father of science fiction" may also have been the father of miniature wargaming. (Here's a link to a nice article on this book.) We talk about a copyright controversy that wasn't really FASA's fault. PSA: Please don't confuse these Crunchberries with these Crunchberries. Mike just wants somebody to love the Tau, Brian just wants to talk about Malifaux, and Jayson just wants a giant, blue... As always, we appreciate your listening and would love to hear your comments on any or all of these items, and especially a review on iTunes if you have the time and inclination! Grab your bowl of Capt Crunch (with Crunchberries of course), jump on the couch and join us as we explore how we Used 2 Know Saturday Mornings were all about Cartoons! We go through the history of how Saturday Morning Cartoons got started- we wander deep into memory lane on some of the best cartoons we remember and how the Saturday Morning Cartoon tradition has gone the way of the 8 track tape. One quick note- we had so much fun with this podcast- its longer than normal.
The oft-mentioned “Thrillon” (Dillon) joins Steve and Joey as their special guest this week, and he comes bearing some mighty fine gifts: ten pale-variety beers from Massachusetts-based Tree House Brewery for us to share and sample on the air! After this extended suds-bud session, the boys talk about their experience at the recent 7th birthday party for Noble Ale Works, which underpromised and overdelivered in a MAJOR (nelson) way! Their 2nd Canniversary Triple Hazy IPA was a big hit, as were its variants, and the biggest (and most pleasant!) surprise was their wide variety of Lactose infused Cereal Beers, flavored with Apple Jacks, Golden Grahams, Froot Loops, Reese’s Puffs, Crunchberries, and Cocoa Pebbles. We also try out our new portable recorder for the first time, so you can witness us getting more and more drunk and idiotic as the day went on.

Our very first episode. Full of bugs and learning. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
It's just as good as the first one, with just as many bugs and twice the blatant racism. You'll love it. I swear.
