Food Travel USA with Elizabeth DoughertyAlbum: The TRUTH About Food and Travel 060826 Original Broadcast Date: 06/08/26 It was a packed week in food news and Elizabeth had plenty to say about all of it. WK Kellogg is becoming one of the first major food companies to completely overhaul its packaging around nutrition transparency with a new system called SPOONS, which stands for Simple ingredients, Protein, Outstanding fiber, Other nutritious foods, Nutrients, and Single digit sugars. It rolls out this month on Raisin Bran, Frosted Mini Wheats, Corn Flakes, and Rice Krispies. Kellogg invented the nutrition label. Now they're trying to reinvent what it means. Meanwhile Doritos just launched a Garlic Parm flavor nationwide, and if you were hoping two years of MAHA pressure and a $50 billion market cap hit had taught Frito Lay anything, the ingredient list will disappoint you. Maltodextrin, yeast extract, potassium chloride, citric acid. New flavor. Same playbook. Walmart expanded its 30 minute grocery delivery to 33 markets, now reaching 60 percent of the U.S. population. Chick fil A is shrinking its chicken sandwich with no comment and no apology. Upcycled ingredients, food byproducts that used to be called garbage, are now certified and showing up at Whole Foods, Target, and Costco. And a Virginia woman is suing Outback Steakhouse for $1.5 million after slipping face first on mashed potatoes on the way to the restroom. Virginia is a contributory negligence state. Her attorney has a long road ahead. Elizabeth connects the dots on all of it. FOOD TRAVEL USA FAST FACTS About the Show Using the chassis of a food and travel show, Elizabeth Dougherty has carved out her own lane in Talk Radio, covering the contamination of the food supply and the travel restrictions placed upon us by an overreaching government. The CPG Guys are joined in this episode by Doug VandeVelde, Chief Growth Officer at WK Kellogg Co, manufacturer of an iconic brand portfolio including Kellogg's Frosted Flakes®, Rice Krispies®, Froot Loops®, Kashi®, Special K®, Kellogg's Raisin Bran®, and Bear Naked®.Follow Doug on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/doug-vandeveldeFollow WK Kellogg Co online at: https://www.wkkellogg.com/Doug answered these questions:95% of Americans are missing their daily fiber, but nobody goes to a Super Bowl party looking for a "health lecture." Why was 2026 the specific moment you decided to use the world's loudest stage to talk about the "Fiber Gap"?Fiber has historically been marketed as a functional necessity for the "older" demographic. How are you using this campaign to pivot the narrative from a "health trend" to a "tasty daily routine" for everyone from Gen Z to Boomers? You partnered with Gary Vaynerchuk's team to bring humor and high-profile talent to a topic as "unsexy" as gut health. How do you, as a 25-year CPG veteran, balance the "legacy brand guardrails" of Kellogg's with the fast-paced, "attention-first" creative style of VaynerMedia? You chose a regional and streaming-first buy for the Big Game rather than a traditional national spot. As Chief Growth Officer, how did you justify the "reach vs. precision" trade-off to your board?Gut health can be clinical and boring. Talk to me about the decision-making process behind using humor. Does "funny" actually move units of Raisin Bran and Mini-Wheats, or is it just about winning the "Ad Meter" rankings? With a streaming-first approach, you have more data than a traditional TV buy. How is WK Kellogg using real-time signals from this campaign to adjust shelf-level execution in the weeks following the game? You've been in this game for over 25 years. What is the one "old school" CPG rule you had to break to make this 2026 Super Bowl campaign a reality? When you go big on a Super Bowl scale, the pressure on the supply chain is immense. How did the $500M modernization of your plants allow you to "lean in" to this demand spike in a way you couldn't have three years ago? Before the campaign went live, did you use AI-driven "attention analytics" or "predictive creative" tools to ensure the humor would land across different demographics, or was this a "gut-feel" (pun intended) decision? If this "Fiber Gap" campaign succeeds, you aren't just selling boxes of cereal—you're changing a category's trajectory. Is the future of WK Kellogg less about "Breakfast" and more about "Functional Wellness"?CPG Guys Website: http://CPGguys.comFMCG Guys Website: http://FMCGguys.comSheCOMMERCE Website: https://shecommercepodcast.com/Rhea Raj's Website: http://rhearaj.comLara Raj in Katseye: https://www.katseye.world/DISCLAIMER: The content in this podcast episode is provided for general informational purposes only. **Erin is out this week for some family time and I was also out of town, so here is a fun episode from the Patreon Bonus vault! Our usual schedule of bi weekly episodes will be back in play beginning next weekend with a new episode! We know the Kellogg name for their cereal's (They'rrrrrreeee Great!) and other such foods. However, the men behind the brand were a a pair of interesting brothers who honestly sucked at being brothers. Now in William Kellogg's defense, Dr. John Kellogg was an arrogant ass of a man who took credit for everything he could, invented some wild wellness contraptions, and who ended up becoming a huge supporter of eugenics...when he wasn't trying to cure masturbation or constipation (two "evils" he was strangely obsessed with). I don't mean to be so biased against Dr. Kellogg--who by the way, lost the rights to the family name for his food company to his brother, William--but I can't stand a racist, eugenicist jerk face so here we are. Do not fear, fans of Kellogg cereals, because technically it was his brother who made the Frosted Flakes and Rice Krispies we know today (Dr. John could never with his restrictive ways). Dr. John Kellogg ran a popular sanitarium that provided some interesting treatments to some famous people before he ventured into foods. He taught that a certain lifestyle could cure all your ails, which, my friends, is a red flag when it comes to a wellness scam, just saying. Were all of his health and wellness ideas and practices wrong? No, but I will definitely be covering the wackiest ones. So let's go into the history behind these two men, including their upbringing, education, personal lives, and beliefs as well as the making of a lasting brand. Snack credits are either the best little “vacation cheat code” Disney ever slipped into the Dining Plan - or a spreadsheet-powered trap that turns your family trip into a competitive sport. This week in the Court of the Disney World Resort, Len Testa and Chris Cox argue whether snack credits are a smart way to stretch your Walt Disney World dollars, or just a confusing system that rewards the deeply committed and mildly deranged. Along the way, there is Starbucks math, Epcot festival strategy, and at least one Easy-Bake oven-related conflict of interest. HIGHLIGHTS • Why snack credits can be a secret weapon at EPCOT festivals - especially when you know which items creep up toward that $10 “sweet spot.” • The maddening part of the Dining Plan - there is no consistent rule for what counts as a snack, so you're stuck hunting for the logo like it's a scavenger hunt. • The “snack credit endgame” - realizing on your last day you have a pile of credits left, and suddenly you're importing Rice Krispies treats through customs. • Using snack credits for “breakfast” (because apparently cheesecake counts as dairy and eggs) and other vacation logic that only makes sense inside the Disney bubble. • The philosophical divide - gaming the system for maximum value vs. enjoying the feeling that “past you paid for this,” so present you can just say yes and keep moving. In this episode of the HVAC School podcast, Bryan sits down with Ray Wohlfarth, a seasoned HVAC contractor and prolific author who has dedicated over 30 years to mastering the art and science of boiler systems. What began as a competitive disadvantage—competitors claiming he knew nothing about boilers—became Ray's driving passion. Through daily reading, countless mistakes, and an unwavering commitment to learning, Ray transformed himself into one of the industry's most respected voices on hydronics and steam systems. Ray shares the personal story of how legendary author Dan Holohan literally "saved his marriage" with his book on one-pipe steam systems. When Ray and his wife moved into their first house with steam heat, mysterious banging sounds threatened domestic harmony until Dan's book provided the answers Ray desperately needed. This experience inspired Ray to pay it forward, eventually authoring 14 technical books himself—all written with the vision of a technician stuck in a boiler room at 9 PM on a Friday night, frantically searching for solutions. The conversation dives deep into practical wisdom earned through experience. Ray emphasizes the critical importance of safety in boiler rooms, recounting a harrowing story of a hospital engineer who bypassed safety controls and manually lit a boiler with a flaming broom—resulting in dangerous explosions. He stresses that technicians should always identify escape routes before beginning work, as a lifting relief valve can quickly fill a room with steam, displacing oxygen and eliminating visibility. Beyond safety, Ray shares diagnostic techniques like listening for dripping, hissing, or the "Rice Krispies" sound that indicates scaling, and visually inspecting for soot streaks that reveal combustion problems and potential carbon monoxide issues. Throughout the episode, Ray's philosophy shines through: humility, continuous learning, and the joy of solving complex problems. Whether discussing the holistic nature of steam system troubleshooting, the importance of water quality treatment, or the surprising efficiency of properly designed steam systems (like the LEED Gold-certified Empire State Building), Ray's expertise and passion are evident. His advice for aspiring boiler techs is simple but profound: read 15 minutes daily about your industry, engage with online communities like HeatingHelp.com, and never stop learning from every service call. The snap, crackle, and pop of aging joints might not be what we expected in our forties, but as we navigate this season of life, we're finding both humor and wisdom in the journey. Jess opens up about her recent knee replacement surgery and the humbling experience of buying a raised toilet seat and walking with a cane before she hit 50. Meanwhile, Steph shares her transition to progressive lenses and how her once-perfect vision took a sudden nosedive after 40. Together, we laugh about bodies that make Rice Krispies sounds when we stand up and how our children are both mortified and fascinated by these new developments. But amid the physical challenges, we're discovering unexpected gifts. Our conversations with our Gen Z children have revealed important lessons about work-life balance and setting healthy boundaries—concepts our generation wasn't always taught to prioritize. We're learning to honor our limitations, like recognizing when our "social battery" is depleted or acknowledging that sometimes, when the sun goes down at 5 PM, we're just done for the day.We take a nostalgic trip through technologies that have faded away, from encyclopedias sold door-to-door to mix tapes and AOL's iconic "You've got mail." These shared memories connect us to our past while reminding us how much we've adapted through the years. While aging isn't always graceful (and certainly isn't for the weak), we're embracing this season with gratitude, perspective, and plenty of laughter. After all, what's the alternative? Join us for this honest, heartfelt conversation about finding joy in life's changing seasons.

They catch up on news via Alex Jones clips, including his wild, offensive rants and commentary on MAGA's fractured base and World War III fears. 00:10:00 - Trump, Iran, and the Council on Foreign Relations Discussion turns to Trump's shifting stance on Iran. The Council on Foreign Relations surprisingly urges against U.S. involvement in Israel's military action against Iran. The hosts debate neocon warmongering and America's push for another prolonged conflict. 00:20:00 - Military Industrial Complex and Historical War Declarations Commentary on how U.S. wars have become business ventures for elites. The last declared war was WWII; everything else has been a "police action." They criticize inconsistent intel about Iran's nuclear capabilities and express disillusionment with Trump. 00:30:00 - Prepping for War and Media Manipulation Reports of military movement and air refueling deployments spark concerns of war escalation. Speculation rises over Israel targeting Iran's outdated aircraft and oil fields. They connect geopolitical instability to oil prices and economic manipulation. 00:40:00 - Civilizational Collapse and Population Decline A hypothetical: if no one could have children, civilization would collapse within decades. The discussion dives into dystopian timelines, nuclear conflict fallout, and how infrastructure would crumble without younger generations. 00:50:00 - MKUltra and CIA Mind-Controlled Animals The crew revisits the CIA's MKUltra program and experiments with using animals as mind-controlled assassins. This bizarre yet historically documented topic segues into military-tech rabbit holes and ethical absurdities. 01:00:00 - Secret Military Bases and Moon Soldiers A wild clip emerges of a U.S. Army official casually mentioning "soldier astronauts on the moon." The team speculates on secret military space programs and the plausibility of militarized lunar bases. 01:10:00 - Ultra-Terrestrials and Cyclical Civilizations Discussion shifts to the “ultra-terrestrial” theory—suggesting ancient advanced civilizations may have existed before humanity. They consider nuclear traces, lost technology, and elite underground survivors as part of a repeating civilizational loop. 01:20:00 - Flight Scam and Bigfoot Sightings A man impersonates a flight attendant to fly 120 times for free. Then it's back to Bigfoot: Michigan sightings prompt a cannabis dispensary to offer discounts for photo evidence. They play a custom Bigfoot song and enjoy the folklore. 01:30:00 - Bear Attack Thwarted with Walker and Rice Krispies A heroic nurse uses a walker and Rice Krispies to fend off a bear at a Pennsylvania nursing home. The hosts praise her bravery and riff on the absurdity of the situation while wrapping up with bear sightings in Ohio. 01:40:00 - Media Manipulation and Dragon Believers The hosts criticize media outlets for changing headlines without acknowledgment after stories gain traction—particularly citing Joe Rogan's influence. A humorous detour emerges debating whether Rogan believes in dragons, with discussions on dragon mythology and its cultural resonance. 01:50:00 - Mosh Pit Mayhem and Accidental Emergency Alerts Smartwatches and fitness devices accidentally triggered emergency alerts during a UK music festival mosh pit, mistaking the chaos for real injuries. Authorities asked attendees to disable alerts or switch to airplane mode to avoid flooding emergency lines.   Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research ▀▄▀▄▀ CONTACT LINKS ▀▄▀▄▀ ► Phone: 614-388-9109 ► Skype: ourbigdumbmouth ► Website: http://obdmpod.com ► Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/obdmpod ► Full Videos at Odysee: https://odysee.com/@obdm:0 ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/obdmpod ► Instagram: obdmpod ► Email: ourbigdumbmouth at gmail ► RSS: http://ourbigdumbmouth.libsyn.com/rss ► iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/our-big-dumb-mouth/id261189509?mt=2

But this is a new application for the tech, at least as far as I know: a Reddit user, who goes by the name “SedRitz”, challenged ChatGPT to “Write the most unattractive Tinder bio you can think of.” The result did not disappoint. Here is the savage response that he…or she…received in response:”42-year-old couch potato with a passion for complaining. Looking for someone who doesn't mind my 12 cats and can tolerate my collection of toenail clippings. I don't believe in deodorant, and I think showering is overrated. My ideal date is watching conspiracy theory videos on YouTube while eating expired canned food. No, I won't stop talking about my ex, and yes, I live with my mom. Swipe left if you can't handle the real me.”If you'd like to enjoy better sleep, try doing a few sets of squats in the evening. A study by University of Otago in New Zealand found a link between short bursts of nightly strength training and about half an hour of extra sleep. The researchers chose squats because the exercise recruits the largest muscles – and test subjects didn't need equipment or substantial space.‘TOP CEREALS' – NOT ‘CEREAL TOPPINGS':If you're in the mood to spark a debate at work today that will result in someone becoming irrationally angry, and will probably also hurt a few people's feelings, ask your co-workers: “What is the best breakfast cereal of all-time?” According to Pop Culture site “Complex”, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is #1, and here are the rest of the top-10 . . .2.
