The Celtics beat the Jazz 122-114 in another full team effort. Derrick White was the player of the game in the first half, Brogdon probably was in the second half and Tatum played great throughout. Derrick White had 15pts at halftime and was super efficient getting to the rim and then was slow in the second half. Brogdon was slow in the first half with only 4pts at half but he ended the game with 19pts 7ast including one of the best 4 possession swing we have seen in a long time. Right when the Jazz went on a run in the third to bring our lead down to 72-68, Brogdon goes out and hits back to back 3s, then drives and dishes to Grant for an open 3 and then hits another 3 of his own the next possession so 12pts in 4 possessions all because of Brogdon. Tatum was really good throughout this game though. He ended the night with 39pts 11reb 3ast 3stl and was super efficient from the field once again. He shot 12-17 from the field and 5-8 from 3 all while hitting 10-11 FTs. These last two games from Tatum have been MVP level performances. Outside of those 3 guys, Blake played really well in that starting role bringing a ton of energy to the court as well as adding 6pts 12reb and 5ast. His passing was off the charts in this one. Grant played a really solid game as well. He played the exact role we want him to be playing. Excellent defensively and shooting really well from the field. Smart was a little trigger happy in this one and JB was just off. It was not a great night for either of them but the Celtics pulled through it all for a big win getting within 1.5 games of the Bucks for the 1 seed and not quite but pretty much locked ourselves in a 1 or 2 seed now that we are 2.5 games up on Philly and also have the tiebreaker. The Celtics play the best game of basketball we have seen in years and blow out the Bucks 140-99. This game was over as soon as it started. the Celtics outscored the Bucks 34-26 in the first and then 41-21 in the second giving the Celtics a 28pt halftime lead. Then, to pound it in even more, the Celtics outscored the Bucks by 39-27 in the third and even 26-25 in the fourth despite sitting all of our stars. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown went OFF in this game combining for 70pts!!! JB came out of the gate firing with 17 first quarter pts and was putting on an absolute clinic. What I love about JBs game is that only 9 of his 30pts came from 3s. He was very aggressive getting downhill once again. Jayson Tatum scored 40pts in just 31min and was on fire from deep which is a nice change of pace. He shot 8-10 from 3 and also was 8-8 from the FT line. Both of these guys were super efficient and led this team to an incredible victory. This was truly a perfect game from the Celtics as a whole. The defensive game plan that Joe put together for guarding Giannis was perfect. There was a line of guys at the rim forcing Giannis to kick out to guys on the wing OR take a ridiculously hard shot all night long. He still ended up with 24pts but he was 11-27 from the field and outside of him, Middleton and Portis were the only ones in double figures. The defense in this one was top notch. Horford looked great hitting 4-6 from 3. Smart got back to his facilitating role I've been begging for and put up 10ast. Brogdon also played a huge role adding 14pts 4stl and 5ast. Timelord also looked great in this onewith 7pts 7reb (4oreb) and 4blk!!! This was a team effort and gave Joe the ability to rest the starters the entire 4th quarter before the second night of a back to back! Celtics are now just 2GB the Bucks for the #1 seed BUT we now have the tiebreaker. It is still a huge uphill battle with only 5 games left but there's still a chance! The Celtics got embarrassed by the Wizards 130-111. The Celtics fell down by as many as 23 with over 9:00 minutes to play in the 4th quarter and Joe just emptied the bench. The starters weren't hitting wide open shots or defending at all and pulling all the starters sparked something but the comeback was short lived. The bench got it down to 12 before the Wizards went on another big run to close out the game. Some people will complain about the Celtics taking too many 3s but I will say they were absolutely wide open for a large majority of them. There is a big difference between taking too many 3s and creating 3s and the Celtics created a ton of open 3s in this game but they just weren't falling. As poorly as the Celtics shot from 3 (11-44), that wasn't the only reason behind this loss. The Celtics were a revolving door at the rim giving the Wizards whatever they wanted. Porzingis torched us with 32pts 13reb and got whatever he wanted at the rim. The Celtics, for whatever reason, had Horford guarding Avdija while Smart, Brogdon or White had the matchup on Porzingis most of the night and Porzingis bullied himself to a good spot on the floor creating easy shots all night long. The Celtics are smarter than that but it didn't show in this one. After 3 straight blowout victories, I thought the time of us playing down to competition was over but here we are. The Celtics blowout the Spurs 137-93 in our 3rd straight complete domination. JB was as unstoppable as we've seen in a long time. He ended the night with 41pts 13reb and 3ast on 18-29 from the field and 2-10 from 3 meaning he was 16-19 from inside the arc. This was the picture perfect game from JB that ended in a standing ovation from the fans in Boston. While JB was truly unstoppable, this was a complete performance and a lot of others stepped up as well. Our 3 guard trio of Smart, White and Brogdon were great in this one. Smart was ejected in the third quarter after getting 2 technical but was playing a solid game prior to that. Brogdon was huge with 20pts and a team high 9ast. White continued his hot streak with 19pts alongside 8reb on a super efficient 7-11 from the field. Timelord put together another dominating effort with 11pts 8reb and 1blk in just 19 minutes. Horford was really solid with his 6pts 9reb and 4ast as well. Outside of our core rotation guys, we also saw solid minutes from Muscala who was 3-4 from deep and JD Davison even had some great garbage time minutes as well. This is very much a team we should beat but this is 3 straight games where the Celtics played a near perfect game and won by 20+ in all 3. The Celtics blow out the Pacers 120-95 making it 2 straight dominating complete game performances. Robert Williams was phenomenal tonight in his second game back from injury. He only had 4pts but he added 8reb 3stl and 3blks and was an instant energy boost for this team on the defensive side of the ball. We also saw both of the Jays go off in this one too. Jayson Tatum added 34pts and was super aggressive getting downhill and his shot selection was great tonight as well. There were still a couple of his superstar heat checks but overall, this was a much more balanced game for him. JB also contributed 27pts but it was also his passing that set him apart in this one. He only had 4ast in this one BUT he created 2 open 3pt shots because of his drive that he got a "hockey assist" and created a couple other opportunities where guys got fouled. Derrick White came up with another unbelievable performance adding 22pts and a team high 9ast on another super efficient 3pt shooting night. In a game where Brogdon missed, we even saw some good minutes from both Grant and Hauser. Grant added 12pts 6reb and Hauser contributed 9pts 5reb as well as a beautiful steal that led a White transition 3. This team was doing everything right. We outscored them in all 4 quarters and held them under 25 in the final 3. We shot the ball really well, moved the ball really well, rebounded really well and protected the rim really well. This is the Celtics playing basketball to their potential instead of down to their competition which a breath of fresh air as we near the end of the regular season. The Celtics destroyed the Kings 132-109 in a very balanced attack. This was a game where Derrick White completely dominated. He had 20pts 7reb and 11ast and was making all the right plays all night long. The only negative from his night was a lone turnover but even after that turnover, he sprinted back on defense and blocked Harrison Barnes in transition and turned that into a bucket on the other end for the Celtics. He was really good in this one but he wasn't alone. JB continued his hot stretch with 27pts 5reb 4ast on a super efficient 10-16 from the field and 4-7 from 3. Tatum still drove me crazy with his 2-7 shooting from 3 and 6-11 from the FT line but I will give him credit for being much more aggressive getting to the rim in this one. Tatum is not a very good 3pt shooter and I said this when he was named to the 3pt Shooting Contest but he is PHENOMENAL getting to the rim. He needs to focus on that part of his game much more often. This wasn't a perfect game overall but it was pretty close to it. The Celtics shot 40.9% from 3, had 33ast on 49fgm, only tuned the ball over 6 times, outrebounded them 43-42 and scored 21pts off their 14TOs. You can't really ask for much more but the Celtics even delivered more. They held the highest rated offense in NBA history to just 109 pts and matched their pace. The Celtics fall to the Jazz 118-117 in a nail biter. This is, once again, another game where the Celtics held a 19pts lead and watched it slip away as fast as it came. We out scored the Jazz 34-24 and were rolling. Started the 2nd quarter hot and built up that 19pt lead and then proceeded to get outscored 33-30 in the 2nd, 31-27 in the 3rd and 30-26 in the 4th. We lost 3 straight quarters and gave up 30pts in all 3 of them. The part of this game that is most frustrating is the fact that the Celtics offense looked great tonight. Tatum had another horrible game scoring just 15pts and missing 2 huge shots down the stretch but outside of him, the offense was great. We shot 43% from 3, had 30ast on 42fgm and only turned the ball over 8 times. You should win a game where you play like that every day of the week. The big reason we lost this game was because of offensive rebounding and defense. The Celtics gave up 17 offensive rebounds in this one that led to 20 second chance pts. The Celtics shot themselves in the foot. Obviously in a game with no Horford, Timelord or Smart you are going to regress defensively and from a rebounding perspective but there's no excuse for playing how they did on the defensive end. This team is filled of very capable defenders and tonight wasn't a good depiction of that. I will give Grant a lot of credit for a great game alongside our bench. Every single bench player ended the night with a positive +/- while every starter was a negative. The Celtics beat the Trail Blazers 126-112 in a pretty impressive win. The offense was buzzing tonight and the shot selection was much better. For the people out there seeing 42 3pt attempts, I will say that 90% of those 2s were created from penetration and kick outs so they were great shots. We weren't simply settling for 3s but creating those 3s. Tatum still went 2-11 from 3 so I would like to see that number go down a bit but even he was super aggressive getting to the rim and it shows as he was 16-18 from the FT Line. JB continued his "scorch the earth" stretch and added 27pts 6reb 5ast and 2stl on a super efficient 12-23 from the field and, like Tatum, most of his makes were at the rim. Al Horford led the way tonight with 10ast and was getting people involved left and right and Marcus Smart had, arguably, his best game since coming back from the injury. He ended tonight with 15pts on efficient shooting while also adding 6ast and 4stl including a huge strip on Damian Lillard while Portland was a big run that led to a JB transition bucket to go up 11 with 2:00 left. We saw some really good contributions off the bench as well from Blake, Kornet and Hauser. This wasn't a perfect win but it was definitely a good one. Dame went off for 25pts in the 4th quarter alone and made this game interesting for a bit but when Portland got it down to single digits, the Celtics responded with a punch to the throat which is exactly how you want a team to respond. The Celtics beat the Timberwolves 104-102 in a rollercoaster of a game. JB absolutely dominated this game from start to finish. He had 35pts 10reb including 15 of those pts coming int he 4th quarter. He was 12-24 from the field and 5-8 from 3 and couldn't be stopped. He was super aggressive getting downhill in this one and came up huge down the stretch in this win. Jayson Tatum had another off night shooting BUT was much more aggressive getting downhill and it resulted in him going 14-16 from the FT Line. With that being said, he was still 4-16 from the field and 0-8 from 3 so to say he struggled is an understatement. This was a game where the Celtics won because of JB and the defense. Holding this Timberwolves team who averages 115 to just 102 on 44% from the field and 33% from 3 which are both well below their team averages is impressive. Every single starter for the Celtics chipped in a steal with Tatum and Smart having 2 each. Then you have White and Horford with 2 blocks each and Tatum joining that party with one of his own. This was a really strong defensive game through and through. The Celtics still need to get out of the iso game which did plague them a bit in this one but most of the reason we ended the game with just 20ast is actually because the Celtics just shot soo poorly (40% from the field and 30% from 3) and not necessarily because of the iso ball. Guys just weren't hitting shots tonight which makes this win even more impressive. The Celtics have just 12 games left in the regular season and have a lot of issues to address come playoff time. The Celtics fall to the Rockets 111-109 in another embarrassing game. JB came out and was simply unstoppable in this game. He scored 43pts on 16-25 (64%) from the field and 4-10 (40%) from 3 and, as good as he was all game, went off for 17pts in the third quarter. Jayson Tatum on the other hand was absolutely brutal in this game. He had 22pts and 4TOs on 8-22 (36%) from the field and 2-10 (20%) from 3. After a horrible first half, Tatum comes out and puts up 11pts on 5-7 from the field with both of his misses coming from 3. He was aggressive getting downhill and it looked like it may have been a tipping point. It was not. The 4th quarter came and he went into his shell missing all 3 of his shot attempts including the potential game tying basket at the buzzer. Outside of JB, Malcolm Brogdon really did play excellent in this one with 20pts along with a couple of huge plays on both sides of the ball down the stretch. Besides JB and Brogdon, nobody put together a good performance. In fact, if you take their numbers out of the 3pt shooting (7-15 combined for 46%) the Celtics shot 20% from beyond the arc. They only had 19ast on 39 makes which is also a huge issue with tonight's game. The Celtics truly got outplayed in this one. We were outrebounded by 10, gave up 15oreb and allowed 22pts off our 14TOs. This was truly a bad showing and as the postseason nears, one would hope the Celtics would start playing their best basketball of the season but they seem to be moving backwards. The Celtics rolled the Hawks 134-125 in a game where the Celtics played as well as you could ask offensively but just as bad defensively. We saw Tatum put together a solid overall performance with 34pts 15reb and 6ast but the shot selection left a little to be desired. He ended the night 5-14 from 3 which I think is far too many 3pt attempts from 1 person. Outside of the shot selection, he had a really solid game. JB was spectacular in this one scoring 24pts alongside 5reb and a team high (tied with White) 7ast. This was one of the best games we have seen from him as far as rim reads goes. He was super aggressive tonight cutting constantly, creating easy baskets and finding guys for wide open shots after his drives. He didn't shoot well from 3 (1-5) but didn't seek that shot very much. Outside of the Jays, White and Brogdon both chipped in 18pts and kept the ball flying around all night. We also saw Sam Hauser hit 4-5 from beyond the arc and Blake Griffin contribute 8pts 5reb 1ast 1stl 1blk in his 15 minutes and provide a huge spark off the bench. Horford, while the stat line might not show it, played really well tonight too. He hit a huge 3 down the stretch countering a Hawks run and then had a huge block on Johnson that led to a Brogdon transition layup to go up 8 so a huge 4pt swing late in the game. Overall, the Celtics played really well offensively, shooting 47% from 3 and collecting 35ast on 52fgm. This wasn't a game where they were chucking up 3s. They were creating 3s and that is when they are at their best. Their interior defense was a mess tonight which led to 72pts in the paint for the Hawks as well as 13oreb so there are still quite a few things to clean up but good overall win for the Celtics! The Celtics beat Portland 115-93 and finally give us fans a night off from having a heart attack. The Celtics had a double digit lead most of this game and finally closed it out giving our starters (minus White) the entire 4th quarter to rest. Tatum looked great in this one with 30pts and 7reb on 6-10 from 3 so it was good to finally see him hitting these 3s. White stepped up big in this one with 21pts 5reb and 7ast including a couple big baskets in that 4th quarter to push the Celtics lead back up to 19 after the Trail Blazers got it down to 14. Horford looked 10 years younger once again having a big night with 17pts 6reb 5ast on a super efficient 7-11 from the field. JB and Brogdon weren't necessarily on their game tonight but Brogdon was especially bad in this one. He ended the night with just 5pts on 2-13 from the field including 1-7 from 3. He missed 4 layups and got a 5th one blocked and had a couple of wide open 3s that were nowhere close. He did contribute 9reb but it was definitely a tough night overall for him. This was a much needed win to get the Celtics back on track mentally as well following that 3 game stretch of blowing double digit leads. The Celtics improve to 46-21 and are now 2GB the Bucks for the 1seed and have a 2 game lead over Philly as well. They now go on to a 6 game road trip against a pretty easy schedule so hopefully the Celtics can go on a nice little run here leading up to our game against Milwaukee which will determine a lot seedings wise. The Celtics fall to the Cavs 118-114 and blow their third straight double digit lead in this one. The Celtics played 3 quarters of brilliant basketball. We outscored the Cavs in all of the first 3 quarters and had a 14pt lead going into the 4th. The Celtics built this lead with excellent 3pt shooting and an unbelievable night from JB (32pts 14reb and 9ast) and Malcolm Brogdon (24pts 4reb 5ast). The ball was flying around and guys were cutting creating open shots. On top of that, the Celtics were playing hard on the defensive end forcing a ton of turnovers that led to easy opportunities. After going into 2OT yesterday the Celtics looked exhausted going into this 4th quarter and was evident as most of their shots came up short. I'm not using that as an excuse because it is inexcusable to lose a 14pt lead in a 4th quarter. The ball stopped moving the way it was in the beginning and after out 13-26 start from 3, we ended the night 16-48 so from the 3rd quarter on we shot just 13% from 3. With all of that being said, the Celtics had the ball with 6 seconds left in a tied game and Pritchard flew up the floor and Grant Williams gets fouled on the putback attempt. He had an opportunity to win the game by hitting just 1 FT and missed both of them forcing an OT and at that point the Celtics were toast. They made just 1 FG the entire OT which was JB splitting a crazy double team and the only other pts were 3 FTs from JB. The Celtics fall to the Knicks 131-129 in 2OT on the front end of a back to back... No Brogdon or Timelord in this game and we saw Hauser and Muscala play limited minutes because of their inability to hit shots. They combined to shoot 2-7 from 3 in 32 minutes and forced Joe to rely very heavily on the starting 5. We saw Tatum play 49 minutes and JB play 47 and are expected to bounce back tomorrow against a tough Cavs team. This game was certainly exciting and we saw stretches of great basketball but we also saw the Celtics blow another double digit lead. As well as Tatum played at times, his shot selection was atrocious once again. He ended the night with 40pts 11reb and 6ast but he was 12-30 from the field and 6-17 from 3!!! When he is aggressive, the Celtics play their best basketball and we didn't see that for most of the night. JB hit a couple of huge shots including the massive And 1 to tie the game at the end of regulation and was much more consistent getting downhill. Horford showed that he ages like fine wine adding in 20pts on 6-10 from 3 in one of his better performances of the year. Grant stepped up and played great in this one. The shots weren't falling for him as he was only 1-5 from 3 but he was 4-4 from the FT line including some clutch ones in OT and his defense was excellent in this one but all of those performances went wasted in a tough loss. The Celtics lost to the new look Nets 115-105 in a game where they once led by as many as 28pts!!! The Celtics came out firing early in this one and led 37-15 after the first and were doing everything right. They were getting downhill, getting to the FT line, hitting their 3s and defending at a very high level. Then everything changed and we saw the intensity slip on the defensive end, the pace slowed down and we saw more iso ball. We were outscored by 13 in the 2nd quarter, 14 in the 3rd quarter and 5 in the 4th quarter... Obviously losing a 28pt lead is frustrating but the thing that frustrates me the most is the fact that we still outplayed them in several aspects of today's game. We shot a higher % from the field, we outrebounded them, had more assists, more fastbreak pts and way more pts in the paint and we still lost. The 3pt shooting killed us but the play of Jayson Tatum was the real killer. He just seemed disinterested in this game which is odd considering it was his birthday. He shot 0-8 from 3 today and had 4 boneheaded turnovers. If you take out his 0-8 from 3, the Celtics shot 40% which will win you a lot of games in the NBA but Tatum's shot selection was horrible in this one. JB (35pts 5reb 4ast 3stl) and Derrick Whites (16pts 4reb 3ast) were the only real bright spots in todays game. Smart had a couple of beautiful steals and assists in this one but those slowed down as the game progressed. The Celtics cruise past the Cavs 117-113 and I know that doesn't seem like "cruising past" but this game was not as close as the final score. Celtics were up by 20 late in that fourth quarter and there certainly was a massive collapse because guys reverted to iso ball and they slowed the pace which you cannot do against this Cavs defense. They are one of the best halfcourt defenses in the league with Allen and Mobley and the Celtics were at their best tonight when they dictated the pace and it showed with out 16 fast break pts. Tatum finally caught his post all star break hot streak after a tough start but he ended this one with 41pts 11reb and 8ast after starting the game 1-4 from the field and only 2pts in the first quarter. He caught fire and never cooled down. Speaking of never cooling down, Al Horford went off for 23pts 11reb on 6-8 from 3 and was hitting big shots all night long. We also saw Timelord look like Timelord again. This was probably the best we have seen him look in quite some time. He ended the night with 11pts 11reb 1stl and 2blk and was a force down low. We're used to seeing our bench step up and perform at such a high level but tonight was a game run by the starters and despite JB struggling from the field, the starters combined for 105pts. The Celtics fall to the Knicks 109-94 and are officially behind the Bucks in the Eastern Conference Standings percentage points wise. This was an ugly game through and through. The Celtics shot an abysmal 9-42 (21%) from 3 and refused to take it hard to the rack drawing free throws instead. The Knicks shot 34 free throws compared to our 14. On a night where JB was out, one would expect for Tatum to step up but that didn't happen either. Tatum scored just 14pts on 6-18 from the field and 1-9 from 3. He is in a serious funk coming off of the All Star Break. In his last 3 games, he has shot a combined 36% from the field and 24% from 3. He needs to get his mojo back and he needs to do it quick. We did see solid performances from Brogdon and Horford and we saw sparks of brilliance from Smart at times but it just wasn't enough. This isn't a game that should have fans freaking out because it was an anomaly but it certainly wasn't a fun one to watch. This was one of the few games where I was really upset with rotations. With the Celtics missing so many 3s, you are forced to EITHER stop shooting 3s and start getting to the rim OR switch up your personnel and Joe did neither. This would've been a good game to get Muscala more minutes (he didn't check in till midway through third and actually played pretty well) and Pritchard some time but that didn't pan out. The Celtics beat the 76ers 110-107 after a clutch 3 from Tatum off of a beautiful ATO from Mazzulla. Tatum struggled for most of this game but hit the big shot when it mattered most. Despite Tatum's struggles, we were able to win this game because everyone stepped up. JB was phenomenal in this one scoring 26 including 10 in that 4th quarter and just kept hitting big shot after big shot. Al Horford single handedly brought the Celtics on a 9-0 run in the third quarter when we were down 15 and then hit another 3 to make it 12pts in that quarter. Derrick White continued balling at a high level with his 18 and Timelord even added in 14pts and was much more aggressive getting shots up at the rim instead of passing out for a 3. The formula for beating Philly has been pretty simple. Let Embiid get his and shut down everyone else and that is exactly what we did. Harden was fine in this one and Harris was great in the first quarter but after that we stopped him completely and nobody else hurt us. This formula has set us up for win after win against Philly which is beautiful to see. One of the major things that jumped out to me in this one was the rotation. We saw Joe play just 9 guys and Hauser was one of them but he only played 1:57 so we essentially saw an 8 man rotation in this one. This could be indicative of the playoff rotation we are going to see. Either way, big win for the Celtics as they remain the best team in the NBA! The Celtics beat the Pacers 142-138 in OT and improve to 43-17 on the year! This was a fun one to watch because it was so back and forth but it was too close for comfort over a bad Pacers team. We saw the return of our preferred starting 5 and against a Pacers team that runs a very small lineup, it wasn't ideal. I will give credit to Joe for adapting and going smaller while limiting Horford to just 34min and Timelord to just 26 and letting guys like Brogdon and White get some much deserved time. Offensively, this game was great for the Celtics. The ball movement was great and the offensive rebounding was even better. The Celtics had the opportunity to win this game with 2:15 left as they were up 4 but then Tatum got crossed from Haliburton who hit an easy 3 and then you saw JB miss 2 of 3 FTs keeping only a 2pt lead. Then Tatum goes and misses a layup and turns the ball over in back to back possessions and then we see another JB turnover. The Celtics should've had this one wrapped up but let it slip away. Fortunately they pulled it off in OT thanks in large part to 7 straight pts from Smart and a huge OREB that led to a Tatum putback to ice the game. The Celtics blow out the Pistons 127-109 and we finally saw the return of Marcus Smart! Smart may have missed the last 11 games but he didn't miss a beat. He came out as the best version of himself with 9pts 7reb 6ast and 6stl!!! Defensively, he was an absolute monster in this one and offensively he only took 6 shots with 2 of them being wide open layups after a steal lol. This was the perfect Smart game. We also got to see our other 2 PGs in Brogdon and White play excellent and contribute 6ast apiece. It is an absolute luxury to have 3 legit starting caliber PGs on your team that can go out and create offense for other. As good as those 3 were, Jayson Tatum stole the show in the third quarter with a career high 24pts in an overall 38pt 9reb 7ast night. He was excellent in this one and, besides the last 2 minutes when he was really searching for that 40pt night, he played within the flow of the offense and wasn't forcing anything. The Celtics really won this game because of the defensive effort for 3 of the 4 quarters (3rd quarter was horrible) and the 3pt shooting throughout. The Celtics continued their hot shooting stretch tonight hitting on 21 of 45 3pt attempts (46.7%) and are slowly getting their 3pt% back up after a tough stretch. This was a fun way to head into the All Star Break and with today's win, the Celtics secured the best record in the NBA heading into the break! The Boston Celtics fall to the Bucks 131-125 in OT. They played this game with no Smart, JB, Tatum, or Al and only played Timelord 13 minutes as they were monitoring his minutes. Most people would automatically write this game off as a loss but the Celtics battled showing the entire NBA what we have been seeing all year and that is our depth is going to be a killer this year. We saw Derrick White continue his torrid stretch of destroying teams but we saw everyone else step up as well. Muscala has already scored twice the amount of points that Justin Jackson scored for us in just 3 games. Brogdon was big at times in this one. Hauser hit a 35ft 3 in Middleton's face to force OT and we saw Blake and Grant play phenomenally on the defensive end. This was the most fun I have ever had watching the Celtics lose. We saw excellent ball movement and timely doubles forcing tough shots or sending Giannis to the FT line and it worked time and time again in this one. The hospital Celtics have no business keeping up with a fully healthy Bucks team but we did and it was incredible to watch. We still have a .5 game lead in the Eastern Conference but there's still a lot of time left. Time to handle business in Detroit and get healthy over the All Star Break. The Celtics beat the Grizzlies 119-109 on Super Bowl Sunday. We played this one without JB, Smart or Brogdon and similar to last game, Derrick White stepped up big with another double double. This time 23pts and 10ast and was a huge key to the Celtics win because of that much needed playmaking. Sam Hauser continues an impressive hot streak with 20pts on 6-11 from 3 and is really looking like early season Hauser once again which is amazing to see. This was very much a team win as we saw 8 guys all in double digits and only 9 guys played in this one. Once again, Mike Muscala is showing Celtics fans that he can fit in seamlessly into this offense and contributed 10pts and 5reb in 17 minutes. This was the perfect pickup at the deadline for Justin Jackson, who, again wouldn't find himself on the floor at all in 99% of the games we play and 2 second round picks! Overall, this was a fun one to watch. Ja Morant can be must watch TV at times with his high flying tendencies but it was the Celtics who walked away with the win. This one came down to 3s and the Celtics outscored the Grizzlies by 27pts from beyond the arc with their impressive 21-51 (41%) shooting. Everybody contributed on that end including Pritchard who scored 12pts on 4-7 from 3. The only one that really struggled from beyond the arc was Jayson Tatum who was 1-8 from 3 on the night but he really struggled offensively in general. The Celtics beat the Hornets 127-116 in an offensive masterclass led by Derrick White. Derrick White had a regular season career high 33pts alongside his 10ast 1stl and 3blks!!! Derrick White came out of the gates scorching hot scoring 26pts at halftime on 9-11 from the field and 7-9 from 3 and simply couldn't miss. During the second half, the Hornets keyed in on him defensively and he adjusted and had 7 of his 10 assists in the second half. This was a masterclass. This was also another super impressive performance from our MVP Candidate Jayson Tatum who ended the game with 41pts on very efficient shooting as well. As good as both of those were, a lot of eyes were locked in on newly acquired big man Mike Muscala who had an excellent debut with the team. Despite not having any practices or film sessions with this team, he went out there and played 16 minutes and contributed 12pts 1reb and 2ast on 4-8 shooting from 3. This was a very impressive debut and a couple things stood out to me. The first, and most of us already knew this was going to be the case but this dude can flat out shoot, Second, at 6'11", this dude can and will run the floor on every possession and that led to a couple of great looks. Third, for not being acclimated to this group whatsoever, he seemed like a pretty seamless fit on both sides of the ball. Overall, very impressed with his debut. This is a good win over a pretty bad Hornets team but this one had trap game written all over it and the Celtics came out firing which is great to see. The Celtics beat the 76ers 106-99 in one of the more impressive team wins of the season. We started this game with Horford, Timelord and Smart out and then JB goes down after taking a gnarly elbow from Tatum to the head so we had to finish this game out without 4 of our normal starters! On top of that, Jayson Tatum only scored 12pts on 5-15 from the field and 1-5 from 3 and we still managed to pull this one off. The reason being, all of our role players stepped up and played as good as we've seen all season. With both of our starting bigs down, Blake got the start and was 5-8 from 3 for 15pts and Grant Williams was phenomenal both defensively and offensively. On top of playing some of the best defense on Embiid that we've seen in some time, he also contributed 15pts 8reb and 5ast and was a super efficient 4-6 from 3. Brogdon and White both added 19pts and were excellent in this one basically from start to finish. White had a monstrous block on Harris in transition that led to a Hauser corner 3 that was a huge energy shift for the Celtics and was one of my favorite plays of the game. Then we watched Hauser go out there and shoot 4-4 from beyond the arc while adding in 14pts! We also saw Kornet add in 2 blocks including a huge block on Embiid right before halftime! Even Joe Mazzula had a couple of incredible ATOs and a huge overturned Challenge at the right time. The Celtics beat the Pistons 111-99 and finally close out a win against a bad team lol. Jayson Tatum was an absolute no show in the first half with just 12pts on 3-13 from the field but turned on the jets and looked like the best player in the world in that quarter where he scored 18pts on 7-8 from the field and was basically unstoppable. During his bad first half, however, we saw some huge performances from Derrick White and Sam Hauser! White ended the game with 23pts 7reb and 7ast but had 15pts 3reb and 4ast at half and was a huge reason the Celtics were winning the game early on. Sam Hauser also looked like his beginning of the year self with 15pts on 5-6 from 3 in that first half which was great to see. Brogdon also played solid in this one contributing 16pts and 4ast off the bench while hitting 4 big 3s. Timelord was also one of the biggest reasons this Celtics team pulled off this win despite a huge Pistons push in the 4th quarter. Timelord ended the game with 15pts and 15reb but 6 of those rebounds were offensive and he had some huge putbacks including 2 in the 4th quarter. This was a solid team win shooting really well, moving the ball really well and defending really well especially while missing JB and Smart. The Celtics fall to the Suns 106-94. This was a brutal game to watch for Celtics fans because it was the polar opposite of the Nets game. Shots weren't falling for anybody and the defense was abysmal. The Celtics shot a whopping 38% from the field and 26% from 3 which is one of the worst offensive performances of the year. On top of that, the Celtics also reverted back to a lot of iso ball in this one. Jayson Tatum shot 3-15 from the field and 3-10 from 3 so only 5 of his 15 shots were within the 3pt line and he missed every single one of them. This was truly a game of "die by the 3" and it was not pretty to watch. The Celtics beat the Nets and this one was over as soon as it started. The Celtics started out on a 14-3 lead forcing a Nets timeout and then they continued to push that lead all the way up to 27-4. This was a game where they simply couldn't miss as they shot from the field and from 3. We saw incredible performances from pretty much everyone but Robert Williams was the guy that stood out the most. He's heard a lot of comparisons between him and Claxton and Timelord showed the world that Claxton may be his way younger brother. He ended the night with 16pts and 9reb but 5 of those were offensive and led to 3 putbacks. He was simply unstoppable in this one. Obviously when you score 139 pts on 58% shooting, it is easy to tell that they had one hell of an offensive night but they shined on defense as well. Holding any team to under 100 is impressive but to hold a team under 100 while only committing 7 turnovers shows how impressive the half court defense truly was. On top of the half court defense, the Celtics held them to just 10 fast break pts and that is also a testament to the Celtics hustling back on D. The Celtics beat the Lakers 125-121 in OT!!! Jaylen Brown was incredible in this one down the stretch. He got in foul trouble and was forced to sit during big points but down the stretch he had 9pts in the 4th quarter and 11 of our teams 20 in OT. With the Celtics down 3 with 4 seconds left, he also had an And 1 to tie the game so he more than made up for last game. Outside of JB, we saw Malcolm Brogdon step up in a major way hitting big shot after big shot. This was far from a perfect game but we pulled it off which is all that matters. The Celtics lose 120-117 to the Knicks and drop their 3rd straight game. The Celtics got off to a scorching hot start from beyond the arc and built up a 15pt lead. We then saw that lead diminish real quick and watched the Knicks build a 13pt lead of their own. Then we saw the defensive intensity turn up led by JB picking up Randle and Brunson full court and Timelord keeping guys out of the paint. We also saw a bunch of timely doubles that led to a huge Celtics run. Tatum scored 7 straight for the Celtics in their comeback and ended up tying the game forcing OT. Then OT comes around and the Celtics end up starting hot and building a 5pt lead that quickly disappeared and the Celtics found themselves down 1 and JB drives and pulls up for his signature mid range and gets fouled for 2FTS! Mind you, we were only down 1 so he can still miss one and have us in a good spot but he misses both and the Celtics find themselves with their 3rd straight loss. One thing is for certain after this 3 game stretch. Marcus Smart means a lot more to this team than most people want to admit. The Celtics lose a nail biter to the Miami Heat 98-95 in a game that the Celtics led by as many as 14. We played this one without JB, Smart, Horford and Brogdon so were certainly behind the 8 ball to start but the Celtics really played well through most of this game. Derrick White was great in this one and so was Tatum in spurts. During our stretch of winning, everything was working for us. Defensively, we were solid and offensively, we were moving. White, Tatum and Pritchard did a great job of getting everyone involved but then the 4th quarter came. Turnovers were an issue throughout this one but in the 4th quarter, we really shot ourselves in the foot. We ended the game giving up 17pts off 17 turnovers and also endured a 6 minute stretch of scoreless basketball. During that stretch we saw our 14pt lead turn to a deficit in the blink of an eye. You could tell this team was gassed being on the 2nd night of a back to back while missing 4 of our top 6 guys but there is no excuse to go 6 minutes of scoreless basketball. Despite losing the lead, we still had an opportunity to win it being down 2 with 20 seconds left and Tatum attempts a cross court pass to Grant that was easily picked off and the game was over. No timeout which I disagree with from Joe but he trusted his superstar to make the right play which is still what he would've drew up had he called a timeout and Tatum didn't deliver. It's just one loss in an 82 game season so it is nothing to get worked up about. The Celtics play again Thursday against the Knicks and will likely be playing with Horford, JB and Brogdon again so we will be close to fully healthy. The Celtics lose their third straight game to the Orlando Magic, this time 113-98. This was an ugly game from start to finish. The Celtics had to play this one with no Malcolm Brogdon, no Marcus Smart and no Timelord. On top of that, both Jayson Tatum and Derrick White were taken out of the game with apparent injuries that they both returned from. This was the return of the Hospital Celtics that we were so fond of last year. Besides 3pt shooting, the Celtics played pretty horribly in this one. They shot 39% from 3 which is excellent but outside of that, they were not aggressive getting downhill at all. This game was lost because of a couple key elements. The first major issue in this one from an offensive perspective was turnovers. We gave up 19pts on our 18 turnovers. The magic number is 17 and once they turn the ball over that many times the Celtics very rarely win those games. The next big issue was on the defensive end. We allowed the Magic to walk into the paint all night long and score at the rim with ease. This is a very big athletic team in Orlando but they are not good enough to drive right past the few available perimeter defenders that we have but we were lazy and when they got past them, Timelord wasn't there to clean it up. Every big winning streak usually ends in a clunker and that is what we saw tonight. Hopefully we see the Celtics bounce back tomorrow night against the Heat! The Celtics beat the Raptors 106-104 and win their 9th straight game! This was a game with no Jayson Tatum and we also saw Marcus Smart and Robert Williams go down in the 2nd quarter so we played the large majority of this game without 3 starters. With that being said, our bench showed up and outscored the Raptors bench 62-14. We saw a massive performance from Grant Williams who scored a regular season career high with 25pts and was frankly unstoppable in the second quarter. If it weren't for a pretty bone headed foul with 3.8 seconds left, you very easily could've called this the best game of Grants career. Besides Grant, Malcolm Brogdon and Payton Pritchard were also incredible. Malcolm Brogdon contributed 25pts and 7reb and was solid throughout the game but Payton Pritchard was the one that stepped up and scored all 12 of his points in the 4th quarter and helped solidify this comeback win! JB did step up with Tatum out and scored 27pts alongside 8reb and 6ast but with Tatum and Smart out, he was also forced to handle the ball a lot more than we are used to seeing and he did struggle at times with 5 turnovers. The other guy that stepped up huge down the stretch was Al Horford. This was not a box score type of night for Horford but he was as good as it gets defensively, especially late in this one forcing 2 jump balls and stealing the ball from Siakam to ice the game. Overall, this is a scrappy win against a hard nosed physical team while we played the majority of the game without 3 starters. The Celtics beat the Warriors 121-118 in OT and win their 8th straight game! This was probably the ugliest win of the season for the Celtics but a win is a win. At the end of the 82 game regular season, nobody is going to remember how they played in game 46 but they will see a W on the schedule. This was a game won by our bigs. Al Horford was spectacular in this one scoring 20pts alongside 10reb with a couple of huge shots that helped push the Celtics over the edge. Timelord was another massive reason behind the W with his 14pts 11reb including 7oreb!! The Celtics ended the game with 18oreb in this one which ended up being a huge reason the Celtics were even in this game. Jayson Tatum ended the night with 34pts and 19reb which sounds like a monster night but his shooting efficiency was horrible and he turned the ball over 7 times. Jaylen Brown had 12 4th quarter/OT pts including the game tying 3 that sent this game to OT but similar to Tatum, shot horribly from the field. Regardless of their shortcomings, both of these guys dug deep and hit a couple of monster shots in this one when they needed it most and that is what stars do. They dig deep. Again, this is an ugly win and there are certainly some things that the Celtics need to clean up like the 24pts allowed on 17 turnovers but they still managed to pull this one off. Jayson Tatum continues his MVP hunt with a 51pt performance on MLK day propelling the Celtics to a huge 130-118 win over the Charlotte Hornets. This truly was one of the best offensive games we have seen this year and that is saying a lot considering how we have started this year. We ended the game with 34ast on 43fgm which is super impressive and Tatum was a huge part of that. Often times when superstars go off, they tend to go hero mode and that never happened with Tatum in this one. Almost all of his makes were assisted and he played within the offense perfectly. The backup guard duo of Brogdon and White were also phenomenal in this one but that isn't where we stop. Everyone contributed in this one. Smart and Grant both hit some big shots but their playmaking is what stood out most. Timelord and Kornet continued to be rim threats and Horford played excellent defense in this one. It certainly wasn't perfect but a win is a win. In the first quarter, we gave up 7oreb and let the Hornets stay close. Then in the second quarter, we gave up 11pts on 6 TOs. In the third quarter, our defense fell apart and it impacted our offense for a bit. These are all issues that we played through tonight against a bad Hornets team but could be costly against a better opponent. Either way, a win is a win and you have to be happy about this one. The Celtics outscore the Hornets 60-40 in the 2nd half on their way to a 122-106 W! With no Jaylen Brown in this one, we needed guys to step up and Derrick White did just that with 8pts in the first 4 minutes of the game before colliding with Marcus Smart and leaving the game with a neck sprain. From there, we had no JB and no White for the remaining 44 minutes and we really needed guys to step up. That's where Malcolm Brogdon stepped in. He contributed 30pts 3reb 3ast and 1stl on a super efficient 11-17 from the field and 4-6 from 3. This was arguably the best game we have seen Brogdon play all year and it came when the Celtics really needed it. We also saw Horford step up and add 16pts 7reb 6ast in this one and it is pretty apparent that he likes playing the 4 better than the 5 so that double big lineup is hopefully here to stay. Outside of that, we saw another double double (13pts 12ast) from Marcus Smart who was really good in this one besides the fact that he took way too many shots. We did see big energy minutes from both Timelord and Pritchard who, both, were beasts on the offensive glass. It's really good to see Timelord start to see his minutes go up and it is also great to see Pritchard continue to earn his time out there. Tatum was fine again in this one. He still scored his 30pts but it was on a super sloppy 12-27 from the field and 4-14 from 3. What was different from Tatum this game opposed to last was his ability to pass out of doubles. He was significantly better tonight playmaking which is is great but we still saw a decent amount of hero ball and the shots weren't really falling. The Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets 109-98 to win their 5th straight game! With no Jaylen Brown in this one, I was very much expecting Jayson Tatum to go off and carry this team to a win but that was certainly not the case. Tatum didn't play bad in this one but it certainly wasn't his best. He ended the night with just 20pts shooting a horrible 31% from the field and 20% from 3. Fortunately for him, every other Celtics player stepped up in a major way. And I mean everyone! Grant had a couple of huge finishes that he created out of horrible possessions. Timelord was a monster defensively. Smart led the team with 10ast while making some huge plays on the defensive end creating extra possessions. Derrick White chipped in 15 on 4-7 from 3! Kornet was a stud with 2 alley oops, a nice hook shot and corner 3 and some solid minutes on the defensive end. Brogdon continues his 6th Man of the Year stretch adding 16pts on 7-13 from the field. Payton Pritchard even contributed 9pts and 3oreb and was an absolute bolt of energy in this one. This truly was a great team win not won by a superstar but won as a collective. Ohh yeah and it's always nice locking down Kyrie and watching him shoot 9-24 from the field and only 3-11 from 3 lol. The Celtics beat up the Pelicans 125-114 in another Raining Jays Masterclass. Jaylen Brown was the lead guy in this one contributing 41pts and 12reb on a crazy efficient 15-21 from the field (71%!!!!!) and 8-9 from the FT line. The Pelicans had no answer for JB all night long which led to the Celtics leading this almost wire to wire. Jayson Tatum ended with 31pts 10reb and 4ast in this one but most of his points came late when the lead was insurmountable. What I loved about the way they Jays played was how aggressive they were getting to the rim. They showed the entire world that they are way too strong to be handled by the Pelicans and were taking full advantage of it getting to the FT line a combined 19 times. Outside of the Jays, we saw another incredible performance from Malcolm Brogdon who finished with 20pts 4reb 4ast and 2stl on a very efficient 7-11 from the field. This team is near impossible to beat when you have the Jays playing the way they did AND having this type of efficiency coming off the bench. Even without Marcus Smart and Timelord, the Celtics came to play. The defense certainly took a step back in the absence of those two but the offense looked great in this one. The Celtics take on the Nets tomorrow night so expect Horford to sit out. With that being said, I would definitely expect Timelord and Smart back in the lineup with a very high likelihood of Blake and Kornet minutes as well. The Celtics beat the Chicago Bulls 107-99 in one of the best defensive games we have seen in a long time. While Marcus Smart sat this one out due to a knee injury, we did see Timelord inserted back into the starting lineup and he looked incredible. This was also a monster night from Jayson Tatum (32pts 8reb 7ast) and Grant Williams (20pts 8reb 2blk). We saw the full range of versatility to Grants game in this one playing a phenomenal game defensively but also hitting his 3s and getting to the rim for tough buckets. What I love most about this game was the fact that we won because of our defense. Despite shooting 11-41 (26.8%) from 3, we still managed to pull this one out and it started on the defensive end. The Celtics held the Bulls to just 99pts while also holding them to just 14FTs. The Celtics did have a couple lapses in this game on the offensive end where we reverted back to hero ball but it was always the defense that bailed them out which is a welcoming sight. The Celtics escape the Romeo Langford & Josh Richardson revenge game with a 121-116 Win over the Spurs. The Jays did their thing combining for 63pts but it was the play of Malcolm Brogdon, Derrick White and Robert Williams that put this team over the edge tonight. Brogdon ended the night with 23pts 2reb and 7ast and made big shot after big shot when the Celtics were starting to revert back to iso ball. Derrick White only had 8pts BUT he also contributed a team high 11ast along with 5reb and 3blks and was doing a little bit of everything in this one including some stellar defense. Timelord carried that defense through with 4blocked shots of his own on top of his double double (10pts 11reb) while also contributing 3ast and 2 steals. As good as the Jays were, the role players were even better. This game certainly wasn't perfect as they did revert back to some iso ball late in the 4th quarter and were pretty terrible on defense in non Timelord minutes. Horford looked slow in this one and so did our perimeter defense at times so when guys like Tatum or Brown got blown by or just lost guys on good backdoor cuts, Horford couldn't rotate over to protect the rim. Timelord changed a lot of those things when he was on the court. I know the Celtics are trying to keep his minutes low and I am 100% fine with him keeping his minutes low but I do think it is time to get him back into the starting lineup just to give this team a bit of energy to start games and hopefully watch that grow as they continue on. The Celtics destroy Luka and the Mavs 124-95 in the best game we have seen in weeks. Jayson Tatum led the way in this one with just his second career Triple Double with 29pts 14reb and 10ast. This was a game where the Celtics got back to their roots on the offensive end. The ball and player movement was amazing. Guys were cutting backdoors for easy layups and we finally saw them hit their wide open shots again. When guys are cutting and the ball is moving so fluidly, the shots are soo wide open and we finally saw all of it come together tonight. Obviously Tatum came out here and did his thing but he was not alone. This was probably the best game we have seen from Brogdon in a month and in the first half, Grant Williams was spectacular. We saw JB get in foul trouble early but even he ended up with 19pts on 6-12 from the field! At the start of the 4th quarter, the Celtics had a 27-2 advantage in bench points which is exactly what we have been looking for in recent games. It's just good to see this team play up to their potential after a tough couple of weeks. At this point, the Celtics remain 1.5 games up on the Bucks and Nets as the best team in the entire NBA and look to hold onto that in their final game on their road trip against the Spurs Saturday night! There's not much to say about this one. The Celtics got embarrassed from start to finish and lost 150-117. This was a game where the Celtics came out with absolutely no energy from the jump. We gave up 34 in the first, 40 in the second and 48 in the third. That totals out to 122 which is the most points allowed since we gave up 123 to Syracuse back in the 60s... In the second quarter, we made 5 field goals the entire quarter while we also gave up 5 turnovers. The Thunder scored 27pts off of our 17 turnovers tonight. It was an ugly game through and through. Besides JB playing well, we also saw a really strong performance from Payton Pritchard which was good to see and Brogdon turned it on when the game was already out of reach. Outside of those 3, everyone else was pretty terrible in this one. The Celtics have now lost 7 of their last 11 games and still hold a .5 game lead for first place in the NBA but the race is tightening. We now head into Dallas to take on Luka who has been playing at a different level than everyone in the NBA right now. The Celtics will need to figure this out before they get run off the court again. The Celtics fall to the Denver Nuggets 123-111 in another brutal 3pt shooting effort. JB came out firing in this one and ended the night with 30pts 8reb and 3ast while shooting 12-20 from the field and 4-8 but outside of him, everybody struggled creating offense and hitting shots. Tatum did end the night with 25pts but his shooting struggles popped up again as he missed all 4 of his 3pt shots as well as 3FTs. This was far from Tatum's fault as he was not the only one that struggled shooting. Guys not named Jaylen Brown combined to shoot just 20% from 3 but we saw Tatum, Smart and Brogdon (arguably 3 of our top 5 guys) shoot a combined 0-11 from deep. Honestly, outside of the horrible shooting, I thought the offense looked fine for most of this game. We ended the game assisting on 30 of our 40 makes which shows the ball movement was certainly there and I thought we saw a lot of cutting in this game as well. The Celtics had 4 less turnovers, 6 more rebounds, 1 more fast break pt, and 14 more pts in the paint and they still lost. It was the 3pt shooting and defense that really stabbed the Celtics in the back. On top of us shooting just 27% from 3, the Nuggets went out and shot 57% from 3. The Celtics beat the Clippers 116-110 in another impressive performance from the Jays. While the Jays contributed 29pts each, it was the play of Marcus Smart that pushed this team over the edge. From his incredible defense including a steal and finish at the rim in transition to go up 112-102 during a big Clippers run, Smart controlled the pace and play of this game. This wasn't a game where the ball was moving as fluidly as Celtics fans would like as we only tallied 22ast but Marcus Smart did everything he could to help with that as he contributed 9 of those 22ast. Overall, this is a really good win over a very good Clippers team but it was far from perfect. The Celtics shooting struggles continued in this one as they only shot 28% from 3 and only 77% from the FT line. These are two of the areas the Celtics have excelled at and Celtics fans can look at this in two way. They can either be pissed that the Celtics struggled happened or be impressed that they battled through the adversity and still came out with a big win extending their win streak to 4 games. As for me, I am a glass half full kind of guy and loved that they fought through their struggles and won and extended their lead in the Eastern Conference to 2.5 games over the Brooklyn Nets (yes the Nets are in 2nd). After scoring 70pts in the Celtics last game against Giannis and the Bucks, the Jays explode for 77 points in this monster 126-102 win against the Houston Rockets. This truly was another masterclass from them but the part that I enjoyed the most was the way they played Celtics basketball. This wasn't a game where they were super heavy on iso ball. They assisted on 32 of our 43 makes which proves that they were playing within our offense and not forcing the issue which is all you can ask for as a Celtics fan. On top of the Jays, we saw Timelord record a Triple Double (11pts 15reb) and you could see him completely shift the offensive game plan for the Rockets. They were more or less having a field day getting to the rim but as soon as Timelord comes in, the Rockets started kicking out more and they were not hitting those shots. I don't like single game +/- but Rob was a +19 in 21 minutes which is beautiful to see. We also saw our 3 guard trio in Smart, Brogdon and White play well. Defensively they were great but they were all moving the ball really well in this one highlighted by a team high 8ast for Brogdon. Derrick White had a sneaky good game despite what the box score shows. He ended the night with just 6pts and 3ast BUT he also had a steal and 2 blocks and always seemed to be in the right place which contributed to his team leading +22. Overall, this is a great team win over a bad team but the Celtics win streak now sits at 3 games and we extend our lead in the Eastern Conference to 2 games over the Bucks! The Celtics destroy the Bucks 139-118 because of an absolute masterclass from the Jays. Jayson Tatum was the headliner in this one where he scored 41pts alongside 7reb and 5ast and was super aggressive getting to the rim in this one. Jaylen Brown came out hot scoring 13 in the first but then scored the only 3 in the 2nd and 3rd quarter combined while Tatum cooked. When that 4th quarter came back, JB came back and torched the Bucks with another 13pt quarter ending the game with 29pts 5reb 4ast and showed that Jays is better than 1. We really saw a complete performance from the Celtics in this one. The ball and player movement got back on track and we saw it reflected in their shooting splits. They ended the game shooting 58% from the field and 48% from 3 and a big reason behind that was the beautiful playmaking of Marcus Smart and the Jays. This was a super impressive win against one of the best teams in the league. Despite our torrid stretch losing 5 of 6 games, the Celtics have now won their last 2 and are now 1.5 games ahead of the Bucks in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics bounce back in a big way to a 121-109 Win over the Timberwolves. It may not have been perfect all the way through and our 3s still weren't falling but our ball and player movement was fantastic in this one. We saw a lot more cutting and driving in this game than we have in the last couple weeks and you could tell from the jump. JB was the big gun in this game ending with 36pts 7reb including 23pts in the 4th quarter alone. He certainly started off slow missing all 7 of his 3pt attempts but was 3-6 in the fourth from 3 and carried this team to victory. Outside of that, we saw another great Tatum performance but we also saw Horford, White and Smart all return to their early season form. Tatum ended with 30pts 8reb 5ast while Horford was 5-10 from 3, White was a pest defensively while also contributing 18pts and Smart played the perfect Smart game with 10ast on only 5 shot attempts. The Celtics fall to the Pacers 117-112 after an embarrassingly bad first quarter where we were outscored 42-22. The Celtics got out out to an 11-5 start and were super aggressive going after old friend Aaron Nesmith but it all came crashing down as the Pacers went on a 26-2 run following it. The Pacers dominance continued the rest of the first half where they built up a 30pt lead right before halftime. The ball and player movement in the first half was almost nonexistent and the Celtics relied very heavily on Tatum and Brown to get things going but that is when the Celtics offense is at its worst. They did turn on the jets and outscore the Pacers 42-29 in the third and 27-17 in the third quarter but it wasn't enough. We saw a near perfect game from Tatum and really solid contributions from Timelord, Hauser and Brogdon but nobody else really showed up in this one. Jaylen Brown even broke his 21 game streak of scoring 20+ points in this one. The Celtics outrebounded the Pacers by 15 including 25 offensive rebounds, got to the FT line 16 more times than them, had 4 more fastbreak points and 2 more blocks than them but still lost. They say it is a make or miss league and that is exactly what happened in this one. The Pacers shot 46% from 3 and the Celtics only shot 31%.
