Brent Axe chats live following SU basketball's 87-77 loss to North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. If you want to look on the bright side, SU trailed by 32 points at one point of the game (72-40) and fought to trim the deficit down to six points before eventually losing by 10. But, uh, they still trailed by 32 points. That tends to weight more heavily in the conversation. Axe discussed with fans how the mirage of ball movement represented in SU's in over Notre Dame faded as the Orange had just 7 assists against the Tar Heels. SU is now 0-8 all-time in Chapel Hill. While he expects volatility, he's bullish overall and thinks we can see double-digit market returns in 2026. He's “more neutral” on the Mag 7 and thinks the baton is being passed to the other 493 companies in the S&P 500. Mike Rode sees a strong start to the year for small caps, which began rotating after Liberation Day after a rough few years. The Rams are double-digit favorites on Saturday in Carolina as we prepare for Wildcard Weekend, and teams that are double-digit favorites in the WC round are 12-1 in the last 13 games. This Rams team is getting healthy at the right time, and their aspirations are far above a wildcard win. Regardless, the Rams have to show up and get back to their winning ways. A commanding win vs. Carolina will alter how fans feel moving forward dramatically. But a loss? Could be one of the worst, if not THE worst in the Sean McVay era. We have all the faith in the world that the Rams will take care of business. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Investors will keep focusing on market fundamentals, says Sam Stovall. Though he expects a good year, he warns that historically, we're reaching the end of a pattern for double-digit gains. He highlights tech, utilities, and communication services, and potentially financials. Turning to the Fed, he doesn't expect the first cut until April. He explains what a failed Santa Claus rally could mean for January trading, which often previews the rest of the year.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. On this week's episode of The Business of Watches, we sit down with Ilaria Resta, the Chief Executive Officer of Audemars Piguet. Among the strategically important years in the brand's 150-year history, 2025 may rank among the most significant. Not only did it mark a century-and-a-half anniversary, it demanded a strong and determined leader to navigate through a mille feuille of challenges. Amid U.S. tariffs, record prices for gold, an extremely strong Swiss franc, and an overall downturn in market demand, Resta and her team from Le Brassus grew sales by double-digits, up 12%, as of the end of October compared to the year before, according to the brand. That's more than CHF 2.3 billion in sales, according to analyst estimates. That's no small achievement considering the extraordinary headwinds facing the industry. Overall, Swiss watch exports are set to decline for the second year in a row in 2025. Under Resta's leadership, AP is bucking the trend and then some. In this episode, we talk about the notable product releases from AP this year, including its innovative perpetual calendar and the highly wearable, groundbreaking RD#5; how she intends to manage production; the evolution of the brand; and possible changes to model lines. A long-time senior executive in the consumer goods industry, Resta discusses what makes the watch industry unique and what it needs to do to appeal to the next generation of clients.Show Notes3:50 Audemars Piguet at Dubai Watch Week5:27 AP Perpetual Calendars in 38mm 7:50 Book round-up featuring Audemars Piguet The Watch 9:10 Swiss Watch Exports11:52 Royal Oak Offshore 15:30 Audemars Piguet says CEO Staying (BoF) 17:33 AP Certified Pre-Owned 19:30 Dubai Watch Week CEO Roundtable 22:25 A Plea For Proportionality (Hodinkee)

Seattle's Westland Distillery welcomed more than a thousand people this weekend hoping to get their hands on a bottle of the distillery's first 10-year-old single malt, the 10th Anniversary Garryana. It's largely matured in Garry Oak casks from the Pacific Northwest, and this year's release is more scarce than usual - after thieves stole a semi-trailer with nearly half the year's production of Garryana last month. We'll talk with Westland master distiller Shane Armstrong and managing director Jason Moore on this week's WhiskyCast In-Depth. In the news, Portland's Westward Distillery has been saved by investors after filing for bankruptcy, and sales are down again for Pernod Ricard and Moet Hennessy.

What if you could buy a property that cash flows from day one, has tenants who've been there for 10+ years, and just experienced 22% rent growth while multifamily struggles with competition? In this continuation episode, Daniel Holmlund dives deep into the mechanics of industrial flex space investing and why it's outperforming traditional real estate sectors. He explains how supply chain disruptions created a "computer cache" effect—businesses want inventory stored close to consumers rather than sitting on ships at sea. Daniel breaks down the advantages of triple net leases where tenants pay utilities, taxes, and maintenance, plus shares real examples of how flexible spaces allow businesses to scale up without relocating. In today's market, investors are finding it difficult to achieve strong, reliable returns. That's why more investors are acting as the bank, making loans directly to other investors who don't qualify for shorter-term bank loans despite having excellent borrower qualifications. These loans are shorter-term, real estate-backed loans that often generate low double-digit returns. Fred SaintAmour, Owner and Managing Partner of Boathouse Commercial Funding Group, has closed over 200 hard money loans with no losses. Fred does one-off deals versus a fund that puts pressure on him to deploy investor capital and risk compromising his lending standards.
“We are an absolute recurring revenue engine,” says Ted Lee, co-founder of SmarTrak.ai, in a new podcast interview with Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News. Speaking from Cisco GSX and VMware Explore, Lee describes how SmarTrak.ai is enabling partners to transform data into growth, helping some global players reverse declines and generate new momentum in just 12 months. Founded with a multi-vendor vision, SmarTrak.ai began by solving a central challenge in the Cisco ecosystem: partners struggling to manage renewals and subscriptions at scale. The platform pulls data from 30–40 sources across Cisco, partners, customers, and distributors—then applies AI to generate actionable, prescriptive insights. Instead of static dashboards, SmarTrak.ai tells partners what to sell, when to sell it, and how to grow adoption. “We're beyond BI,” explains Lee. “Our AI is building presentations, highlighting opportunities, and giving sellers the recommendations that turn renewal data into recurring revenue.” Key highlights from the conversation: Recurring revenue growth: Partners are using SmarTrak.ai to drive hardware, software, subscription, and managed services sales. Executive-level visibility: Daily insights reveal whether a business is growing or in decline—and why—empowering leaders to take corrective action. Speed of innovation: As an AI-first platform with no legacy “technical debt,” SmarTrak.ai deploys new functionality in weeks, with measurable revenue results in days. Secure AI adoption: SOC 2 compliance ensures sensitive customer data stays safe—unlike dropping files into public AI tools. Multi-vendor future: While rooted in Cisco, SmarTrak.ai is rapidly expanding to support VMware and other leading IT vendors. Lee says partners see SmarTrak.ai as their “competitive advantage machine”—so much so that few will provide references, fearing competitors will catch on. For Cisco, for partners, and ultimately for customers, the result is a healthier ecosystem and stronger long-term value. To learn more, visit smartrak.ai.

In the world of craft beer, it's rare to see a regional brewery consistently post double-digit growth — especially as the craft beer category contracts. But that's exactly what Iowa-based Big Grove Brewery has done, posting strong gains every year since 2018. The company is now on track to sell more than 500,000 cases in 2025 — with a full 90% of those sales coming from within Iowa.In this episode, we sit down with Matt Swift, Big Grove's co-founder and CEO, to find out how he's building one of the most successful breweries in the country by doing things a little differently.Matt shares how he:Built a best-selling product line in the Easy Eddy hazy IPA family Created deep community ties through taprooms, university partnerships, and local philanthropyTook a deliberate “inch wide, mile deep” strategy — dominating in-state sales before expanding Structured the portfolio into clearly defined product “families” that drive trial and loyalty at shelfContinued investing in draft sales, even as other craft brands pulled backWorks with distributors as true partnerships, planning A&P budgets and activations 9 months out We also talk about the risks Matt wishes he'd taken earlier, how he approaches SKU rationalization, and why he believes lighter, lower-alc and non-alc beers will play a big part in the future of the category. If you're a beverage entrepreneur thinking about growth — whether via taprooms, retail, or distributor relationships — this episode is filled with battle-tested insights.
