The basis of the celebrated Paramount Network miniseries starring Michael Shannon and Taylor Kitsch--Waco is the critically-acclaimed, first person account of the siege by Branch Davidian survivor, David Thibodeau.Twenty-five years ago, the FBI staged a deadly raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco. Texas. David Thibodeau survived to tell the story. When he first met the man who called himself David Koresh, David Thibodeau was a drummer in a local a rock band. Though he had never been religious in the slightest, Thibodeau gradually became a follower and moved to the Branch Davidian compound in Waco. He remained there until April 19, 1993, when the compound was stormed and burned to the ground after a 51-day standoff with government authorities. In this compelling account--now with an updated epilogue that revisits remaining survivors--Thibodeau explores why so many people came to believe that Koresh was divinely inspired. We meet the men, women, and children of Mt. Carmel. We get inside the day-to-day life of the community. We also understand Thibodeau's brutally honest assessment of the United States government's actions. The result is a memoir that reads like a thriller, with each page taking us closer to the eventual inferno.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

From 1999: David Thibodeau was born and raised in Bangor, Maine while spending a few years in South Portland. He is a survivor of the tragedy that unfolded at Mount Carmel near Waco, Texas 27 years ago. In February 1993, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms raided David Koresh's Branch Davidian home, a small religious community, triggering a drawn-out gun battle that resulted in many lost lives. After a 51-day standoff, the conflict ends when an FBI assault leads to a fire that engulfs the Branch Davidian home, killing 76 people, most of which were Thibodeau's friends and people he considers family. A Place Called Waco: A Survivor's Story is a book Thibodeau wrote in 1999 about his experience at Mount Carmel. David Thibodeau's book was noticed by John Dowdle who made it into Paramount Network's six-part miniseries about the events that took place between February 28th and April 19th, 1993. The six-part scripted series "Waco" dramatizes one of the most misunderstood stories in American history. David has lived in Los Angeles, Austin, Waco and Maine. Thibodeau enjoys playing the drums and has been in many bands, including Why Am I, Lefty, Phatt Sally, Dakota, Sideways, and the Blast Addicts. He also recorded two original CD's, one of which was with the band Lefty and the other with The Blast Addicts. He continues to spread the shocking truth about what happened at Mount Carmel. David is frequently featured on Podcasts, documentaries and TV shows but he really likes to give talks for live audiences that come from all over to hear his story. David also loves speaking to High School and College students all over the Country.https://www.wacosurvivors.comWebsite: thefacthunter.comEmail: thefacthunter.comSnail Mail: George HobbsPO Box 109 Goldsboro, MD 21636

When you read, hear or see the word "Waco" what comes to mind? For some, it's the Waco Siege began in early 1993, when a government raid on a church near Waco, Texas led to a 51-day standoff between federal agents and members of Mount Carmel Center called the Branch Davidians. The siege ended dramatically on April 19, 1993, when fires consumed the church, leaving some 82 people dead, including 25 children. Join me as I walk in David Thibodeau's shoes.

The basis of the celebrated Paramount Network miniseries starring Michael Shannon and Taylor Kitsch--Waco is the critically-acclaimed, first person account of the siege by Branch Davidian survivor, David Thibodeau. Twenty-five years ago, the FBI staged a deadly raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco. The result is a memoir that reads like a thriller, with each page taking us closer to the eventual inferno. 2 years ago #david, #kores, #opperman, #report, #story, #survivor's, #thibodeau, #waco

We are speaking with John Dowdle, writer and director of ‘Waco' the Paramount 6 part TV series which is based upon David Thibodeau's book ‘A Place Called Waco: A Survivor's Story'. A theme through his work is to challenge the mainstream narratives fed to us through the govt., and media. Along with his brother, Drew, the Waco TV series brings a different narrative to the world. This is his story.
We are speaking with David Thibodeau, Waco Survivor, author, drummer, seeker of the truth. David is one of only 9 people to walk out of the howling inferno that engulfed and killed 76 of his close friends and fellow Christians. He has been challenging the govt. and mainstream media's version of the narrative surrounding this dark moment in the history of America. This is his story.
We are sitting around the table in Mt. Carmel with David Thibodeau, Eddy Oliver and Heather Jones. Heather was 9 years old at the time of the siege and was one of the 30 children allowed to leave the building during the stand off. She left her father in the compound thinking they would soon be reunited. Weeks later he was killed in the Waco inferno. She heard people say, “Their parents must not love them [the children] enough. They just started a fire and killed themselves.” She recently moved back to live at Mt. Carmel. This is her story.
Have you seen the Netflix series WACO? Our guest tonight David Thibodeau was one of the survivors from the Waco massacre and helped put together the Netflix series. He joins us tonight to tell his story and answer some questions live at 9pm est!
Waco: A Survivor's Story : David Thibodeau As a tie-in to the upcoming Paramount Network miniseries starring Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, and Melissa Benoist (starting in January 2018) and commemorating the 25th anniversary of the siege at Waco, TX, comes the critically acclaimed WACO by Branch Davidian survivor, David Thibodeau. The book and miniseries have recently been featured in a 20/20 two-hour documentary special, Variety Magazine, interviews on NPR, and stories in Entertainment Weekly, TIME, Deadline, and the Boston Globe. For the first time ever, a survivor of the Waco massacre tells the inside story of Branch Davidians, David Koresh, and what really happened at the religious compound in Texas. When he first met the man who called himself David Koresh, David Thibodeau was drumming for a rock band that was going nowhere fast. Intrigued and frustrated with a stalled music career, Thibodeau gradually became a follower and moved to the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. He remained there until April 19, 1993, when the compound was stormed and burnt to the ground after a 51-day standoff. In this book, Thibodeau explores why so many people came to believe that Koresh was divinely inspired. We meet the men, women, and children of Mt. Carmel. We get inside the day-to-day life of the community. Thibodeau is brutally honest about himself, Koresh, and the other members, and the result is a revelatory look at life inside a cult. But Waco is just as brutally honest when it comes to dissecting the actions of the United States government. Thibodeau marshals an array of evidence, some of it never previously revealed, and proves conclusively that it was our own government that caused the Waco tragedy, including the fires. The result is a memoir that reads like a thriller, with each page taking us closer to the eventual inferno. One Leg and a CupThis is the true story of how Terry Celano overcame fears that lingered for over 30 years, stemming from an unfortunate experience involving a homeless person. As a result, he went on a quest to find and interview people that are living day by day with no place to go, most of which have to panhandle for their very survival. Their stories are compelling, sometimes shocking, and always heartbreaking. To answer questions that remained, Terry takes to the streets experiencing what it is like to beg for money. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/1198501/advertisement
