Kelly Cochran was a young, outgoing, intelligent woman who did what she wanted to do and never thought about the consequences of her actions. She also happened to be a sociopathic serial killer. Kelly murdered and dismembered her lover, and then went on to murder her husband, all in cold blood. It is speculated that she may be responsible for multiple other murders in at least 4 states. Join us in the closet this week as we discuss the life and crimes of Kelly Cochran, The Devil Woman of Michigan. *Crimes & Closets is a true crime podcast production of Skoldon, LLC Sources: https://allthatsinteresting.com/kelly-cochran https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-pact/id1673778760 https://www.ironmountaindailynews.com/news/local-news/2017/02/cochrans-parents-detail-her-life-with-husband/ https://www.ironmountaindailynews.com/news/local-news/2017/02/cochrans-parents-detail-her-life-with-husband/ https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/190191003/christopher-karl-regan https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/158516297/jason-thad-cochran https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/crimefeed/serial-killer/meet-kelly-cochran-convicted-serial-killer-who-may-have-served-boyfriend-as-bbq https://www.foxnews.com/us/inside-devil-woman-kelly-cochran-plot-kill-lover-husband 20/20: Where Monsters Hide, Season 45 Episode 34 (2023) Dead North (2018) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/crimesandclosets/message

The sun melted the pills and revealed to her what made them so effective. Those pills my grandmother’s friend had contained eggs. The hot sun caused those eggs to hatch...into tapeworms. Now tapeworms are disgusting little things. I wanted to explore the idea of a beautiful parasite.”Rob Ward is an actor, choreographer, and most recently, a writer, living and working in the Twin Cities. In honour of International Women's Day - March 8th 2021.Mayor of Bell Gardens California, Daniel Crespo Snr abused his wife Lyvette for 28 years. He also threatened those he worked with in the council and had a secretary fired for not sleeping with him.On September 30th, 2014, while beating Lyvette, he turned his violent rage toward their teenage son when he tried to intervene. Crespo punched his son in the face so hard he fell down the stairs. What happened next was an unusual ending to a horribly common situation.TCNT: Doug Coster wrote to us about the Investigation Discovery Channel show Dead North.Aussie As: A pair of drunk knuckleheads rob a Northern Territory store of two VB six packs. If you feel you are affected by family violence. Coming March 15: The premiere episode of Dead North, horror theater for your ears.Oncoming Productions and Hot Chocolate Media
This is the second half of a two-parter. If you haven't heard part one yet, listen here and then come back to listen to part two. Chris Regan, a 53-year-old war veteran and father of two sons, hadn’t been seen since October 14, 2014. Weeks turned into months, and as the lakes of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula turned to ice, there was still no sign of him. Inside Chris’ car, police had found one item of interest; a handwritten note that appeared to be directions. At first, it hadn’t made any sense. But once police looked more closely, it became clear they were directions to the home of Kelly Cochran, a colleague who Chris was having a relationship with. According to Kelly, her husband Jason Cochran was aware of her affair with Chris. Her affairs were simply part of their marriage. She’d seen Chris a few days before he’d disappeared, but she didn’t know where he’d gone, or why he’d left. But police knew this wasn’t true. Kelly knew far more than she was letting on. And they were beginning to suspect so did her husband Jason. Iron River, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, is known for its scenic lakes, hiking trails, exceptionally cold winters and dense forest. It’s sparsely populated, and many who do live there are blue collar workers. Laura Frizzo was the first female Police Chief in Upper Michigan and worked for the city of Iron River for almost 22 years. She knew what sorts of crimes to expect. And then came a woman named Terri O’Donnell. Towards the end of October, 2014, 50 year old Terri arrived at the police station and told authorities that her ex-partner, Chris Reagan, was missing. What would unfold over the following months, and then years, is a story of extramarital affairs, drug abuse and serial murder. One woman would come to be known as the black widow - capable of crimes far worse than anyone could have imagined. This is part one of a two-part feature. This week we explore the theme of barbecues. Remember those? COVID 19 has robbed us of many things but barbecues can still live in our hearts. Dana shares the story of Marlene Olive and the Barbecue Murders. That's one barbecue we'll be passing on. Nydia retells us her version of the Investigative Discovery documentary, Dead North, about the horrific and gruesome tale of possible female serial killer Kelly Cochran. For dinner, we went with barbecue foods. Dana tried a homemade barbecue sauce recipe that she used to coat her grilled chicken with. Nydia prepares a sure to please Oreo Fluff potluck dessert that is easy to make and looks like it took a lot of effort. We shared a bottle of L'Umami Pinot Noir of Oregon. At $20, this is our new favorite Pinot Noir! It was absolutely delicious and didn't leave an after taste. We really enjoyed this wine and would highly recommend it based on our unsophisticated taste buds. Dead North's festival trailer dropped today! Check it out on their facebook page and get your tickets for this year's film festival at deadnorth.ca. While you're getting tickets, how about supporting the Yellowknife Women's Society by buying a ticket or table for the Fight For Her event happening THIS Saturday at Chateau Nova?! Huh??!
Temperatures in the NWT have continued to drop and northerners are ready to SNAP. You would have to be crazy to go shoot a film almost entirely outdoors, no? Well, Wheeler and Lekter took part in a group that did just that. No regrets (or feeling in our...*ahem*...)
Taylor Saracuse boards the Scandimaniac and we talk traveling, building community, Yellowknife, Dead North and bringing intention to your life.
Dead North's founders tell Sarah how they plan to turn the festival into a TV show, plus a literary agent describes what she's looking for when she selects six lucky Northwords winners to receive her mentorship.
Ollie's back at the Cabin! And apparently is now part of Team Newfoundland? No time to elaborate, however, as tomorrow Cabin Radio turns 1 year old! Let's get ready to party!
Ollie is back after the Canada Games with a look at federal funding to begin planning a road connecting Highway 4 to Nunavut, and the winners from Dead North.
Wheeler recaps night 1 of the 2019 Dead North Film Festival...and needs new shoes. PLUS special guest Flora & The Fireweeds perform LIVE!
A scary-face challenge game with no prizes? No thanks. And have you ever wondered why Japanese people like to visit Yellowknife? Yumi Nagashima has got your answer!
Dez Loreen from the Deztro Show joins Wheeler and Lekter for a Morning at the Cabin filled with thrills, chills, spills and...well, mostly movies.
Sadetło boards the Scandimaniac and we talk about Yellowknife vs Whitehorse, Tłı̨chǫ culture, impact of residential schools, catholicism, Dead North and the horror genre. Be advised we cover a lot of ground here and there are lots of heavy topics touched on. Clearly when dealing with such subjects there is more than can ever be said in an hour, and we both wish to be respectful to anyone who has experienced trauma related to the numerous issues discussed. Also, storm warning: were both dummies just having a conversation as we figure out our place in the world : )
Wheeler is still upset about an awful photo of him that was posted on Facebook by...his mother. And yes - it is that bad.
Wheeler, Ollie and Lekter talk Dead North (video) shootings, The Who in Edmonton and free flags for the very patient!
Wheeler and Ollie discuss the mysterious hairy beast that showed up unannounced in front of Yellowknife City Hall last week. And Pat Kane visits the Cabin to talk Dead North 2019!
Melissa is joined via telephone by one of the most fascinating crime-fighting duos ever to bring really bad guys to justice! Except this bad "guy" was actually a female, but just as - or even more - evil than your average serial killer. Kelly Cochran was more than just a "black widow" - she is suspected of knocking off at least 10 men, including her last husband, Jason - whom she had enlisted in helping murder the man she was cheating on Jason with - Chris Regan. Cochran was finally brought to justice by the cunning, determination and sheer will of an unlikely pair of law enforcement professionals three hours away from each other - Iron River, Michigan police chief Laura Frizzo and Hobart, Indiana detective Jeremy Ogden. The Cochran case - including Frizzo and Ogden's story - is the subject of the Investigation Discovery documentary "Dead North." It's an incredible journey - and Melissa fell in love with the documentary so much that she found Frizzo and Ogden living in Indiana and invited them for an interview on JUST THE TIP-STERS - and they said yes! It's a fascinating, hour-plus conversation with two true original Good Guys pf law enforcement you won't soon forget.

The guys have a bona fide Idiot of the Week. They talk about that story and the documentary Dead North. Dead North is about a murder in the Upper Peninsula that was rather brutal and the details are shocking and disgusting. They get into the TV series Manhunt Unabomber that is on Netflix now and finish talking about some movie stories. No game this week, the guys want to bring a fresh idea to the next episode.
When Iron River, Michigan, police responded to a missing persons call, Chief Laura Frizzo had no idea it would start her on a years-long trail that would lead to a suspected serial killer. Kelly Cochran later told a detective she has murdered as many as 21 people, including two husbands. Frizzo, who lost her job as chief in a dispute with a city council member, is the host of an Investigative Discovery documentary about the case. Frizzo is Nancy Grace's guest in this episode, along with lawyer & psychologist Dr. Brian Russell, host of Investigation Discovery's "Fatal Vision" series, forensic expert Joseph Scott Morgan, and DailyMail.com's Sean Walsh.
Dan Patrick Brady's back for a look at ID's latest miniseries, Dead North, which follows Upper Peninsula police chief Laura Frizzo in the search for a missing man, through a bizarre love quadrangle, to a gruesome discovery while filming in the woods...and a possible woman serial killer. It's not your average true-crime fare, and might have worked better as a podcast, but Dan and Sarah are in for Dead South should it become a thing. We're decidedly LESS eager to eat barbecued foods we didn't pack into the party ourselves, however. Later, it's tea we're turned off of when we take on notorious poisoner Mary Ann Cotton and ITV's Dark Angel. A story we thought had a lot of potential is ruined by confusing time jumps, anachronistic dialogue, clonky exposition, and ironically bittersweet pronouncements of love punctuated by barfing. (Yes, that's the name of our second country album. No, you probably shouldn't listen to our last clip if you have a sensitive vom trigger.) We're hoping listeners can let us know whether the book Dark Angel's based on is worth reading, because Sarah could only get through one ep of the series. Fargo, sexism in profiling, and the found art of the talking-head interview: it's an all-new The Blotter Presents.
