His success on the fairway afforded him the chance to play college golf beside Tiger Woods at Stanford University – winning a national team championship in 1994. Begay is widely considered the first Indigenous golfer to compete on the PGA Tour. KNAU's Chris Clements reports that is according to House Democrats, who have launched an investigation into Energy Fuels for potential insider trading. Two House Democrats allege the Trump administration may have tipped Energy Fuels off about the cut to Bears Ears National Monument before it happened, leading company executives to invest in their own firm. One of the Democrats is U.S. Rep. Jared Huffman, D-California. “The timing and the volume of these stock purchases are conspicuous and speak for themselves.” Huffman asked the company to send a year's worth of communications with the feds, as well as its lobbying contracts, by August 24, but Energy Fuels did not provide the materials by that deadline, according to a spokesperson for Huffman. In a statement, the company said it strongly rejects the idea that anything improper took place, but did not deny that it missed the deadline. Energy Fuels stands to benefit from less protections to the uranium-rich monument, the lawmakers argue, because the company owns the White Mesa Mill, the only conventional uranium processing mill in the United States. Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minnesota, has signed an executive order blocking new state mineral leases and halting permitting work for proposed nonferrous mining projects in the Rainy River Headwaters Watershed near the Boundary Waters. The National Congress of American Indians praised the move, saying it protects treaty rights, Tribal resources, and culturally significant lands from potential mining-related pollution. NCAI also recognized the Bois Forte, Fond du Lac, and Grand Portage Bands of Lake Superior Chippewa. The three 1854 Treaty Tribes have pushed for protections in the region and earlier this year joined the Red Lake Nation and an Anishinaabe First Nation in Canada in a cross-border effort to protect the watershed. NCAI Executive Director Larry Wright Jr. says the order provides immediate relief, but permanent protections are still needed. The organization is calling for federal legislation permanently withdrawing the Boundary Waters and Rainy River Headwaters from mineral leasing and development. The letter came during Pontiac's War, when a confederation of Native nations fought British forces around the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. Pour lui, l'une des réponses passe par l'accélération de la transformation locale. La Côte d'Ivoire compte déjà plusieurs usines de transformation et l'objectif affiché est d'augmenter encore cette capacité afin de contribuer à stabiliser la filière et à créer davantage de valeur sur place. Autre combat : permettre aux producteurs et aux coopératives d'accéder davantage aux marchés à terme et de mieux maîtriser leurs risques. Une question essentielle dans une filière exposée aux mouvements des marchés internationaux et aux stratégies des grands négociants. Athina Argyriou, déléguée générale de la CSIAM (Chambre Syndicale Internationale de l'Automobile et du Motocycle), a analysé la montée en puissance des constructeurs chinois, la politique protectionniste américaine et les difficultés auxquelles les constructeurs européens doivent répondre. Elle souligne notamment les atouts industriels de la Chine : une importante capacité d'ingénierie, un effort considérable de recherche et développement et un appareil industriel capable de mettre rapidement de nouveaux produits sur le marché. Face à cette concurrence, elle met en garde contre la tentation européenne du protectionnisme. Pour elle, la compétitivité passe davantage par le maintien d'une base industrielle solide, l'innovation et l'indépendance énergétique. La transition vers la voiture électrique constitue évidemment l'un des grands enjeux. Athena Argyriou estime que le choix américain de ralentir cette évolution risque de pénaliser l'industrie des États-Unis elle-même, tandis que l'Europe doit continuer à investir dans cette transformation pour préserver sa compétitivité. Baba Hady Thiam : Simandou, le pari minier de la Guinée Avec Baba Hady Thiam, avocat d'affaires franco-guinéen, l'émission s'est penchée sur l'un des projets miniers les plus importants du continent : Simandou. Un projet intégré associant extraction de minerai de fer, infrastructures ferroviaires, installations portuaires et transformation locale. Pour la Guinée, l'enjeu dépasse largement l'exploitation du minerai. Simandou doit devenir un catalyseur permettant de développer d'autres secteurs de l'économie et de sortir du piège traditionnel de la dépendance aux matières premières. Baba Hady Thiam insiste cependant sur une condition essentielle : la réussite dépendra de la capacité à exécuter concrètement les plans annoncés. L'autre grand sujet est celui du contenu local. À Marrakech, à l'occasion du Gitex Africa 2026, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, ministre marocaine chargée de la transition numérique, a défendu une vision d'une IA souveraine et durable. La souveraineté ne se résume pas au stockage des données. Elle suppose également des infrastructures, des capacités de calcul, des datacenters, une connectivité et surtout une réglementation capable de protéger les données et d'encadrer leur utilisation. La ministre marocaine plaide également pour une coopération accrue entre les pays africains. Plutôt que de reproduire les modèles européens ou asiatiques, elle défend une « troisième voie » africaine de l'intelligence artificielle et de la technologie, fondée sur le partage des données, des talents et des capacités de calcul. Es el primer frigorífico de exportación de ese departamento y viene con el respaldo directo del Gobierno.Pero lo que más me interesa contarles es lo que está pasando en el porcino.El Grupo Costa está ejecutando una inversión de USD 300 millones en la cadena porcina paraguaya. Más de cincuenta mil nuevas madres reproductoras se están instalando en distintos puntos del país con desembolsos que superan los USD 250 millones solo en la fase de crianza. Sumando logística, frigoríficos y ampliación de infraestructura industrial, la inversión total ronda los USD 500 millones. La Cámara Paraguaya de Industrias Porcinas proyecta que el sector va a crecer 20% este año.Y no es solo cerdo. JBS anunció una inversión de USD 135 millones en el sector aviar paraguayo. El capital que está llegando viene principalmente de Brasil y de Europa, y está apostando por la cadena de proteína animal completa.¿Por qué Paraguay y no otro país?Aquí está el punto que quiero dejar claro y que va más allá de la coyuntura.Paraguay tiene un flat tax de diez por ciento. Diez por ciento de IVA, diez por ciento de impuesto corporativo. Simple, predecible, sin capas de excepciones ni regímenes especiales que cambian cada dos años. Un empresario que quiere invertir cien millones de dólares en una planta que va a operar durante treinta años necesita saber cuál va a ser su carga tributaria en el año quince. Y en Paraguay lo sabe.Eso se llama seguridad jurídica. Y no beneficia solo al inversionista extranjero. In this episode Chris Rutkowski is talking about his book 'Canada's UFOs: Declassified'. Since 1947, the reality of UFOs has been hotly debated by enthusiasts, zealots, debunkers, and scientists. Skeptics insist that people who report UFOs are either mistaken or liars, whereas many true believers are convinced that aliens are visiting Earth and interacting with its inhabitants. Recent years have seen a tonal shift in mainstream media coverage of UFOs following surprise admissions by the US Pentagon that it continues to investigate dramatic sighting reports from its personnel. Canada has had its own UFO projects, too. Science writer Chris Rutkowski has viewed files on these studies, many of which were declassified from higher restrictions. These records demonstrate that many Canadians not only witnessed unusual objects in the sky (and on the ground) but that they overcame their fear of ridicule and possible legal persecution by reporting their remarkable sightings to the Canadian government. What's more, many of the UFO reports were made by military personnel, and many continue to defy conventional explanation. La Cédéao a apporté son soutien au gazoduc Nigeria-Maroc, un projet long de 7 000 kilomètres lancé il y a près de dix ans. Destiné à alimenter 13 pays d'Afrique de l'Ouest en gaz avant d'approvisionner le Maroc et l'Europe, il doit entrer en service à partir de 2031. Reste un défi majeur : réunir les 25 milliards de dollars nécessaires à sa construction. L'une des principales ambitions du gazoduc est de renforcer l'accès à l'énergie en Afrique de l'Ouest. La moitié des volumes transportés, soit environ 15 milliards de m3 de gaz par an, sera destinée aux 13 pays situés sur le tracé. L'autre moitié alimentera le Maroc, avant d'être exportée vers le marché européen. Pour Amina Benkhadra, directrice générale de l'Office national des hydrocarbures et des mines (ONHYM) du Maroc, cette double vocation est au cœur du projet. « Il longera 13 pays sur la côte africaine, depuis le Nigeria jusqu'au Maroc et sera connecté à l'Europe, à l'Espagne à travers le gazoduc Maghreb-Europe, qui est déjà en production aujourd'hui », explique-t-elle. Une infrastructure pensée d'abord pour les besoins africains Au-delà de l'exportation, les promoteurs présentent le gazoduc comme un levier de développement pour les économies de la région. L'objectif est d'offrir une énergie plus stable aux ménages mais aussi aux secteurs industriels, notamment les activités minières, particulièrement consommatrices d'électricité. Pour Amina Benkhadra, cette disponibilité énergétique est un préalable à la croissance : « Beaucoup de pays sur le tracé ont besoin d'une énergie durable pour pouvoir assurer leur développement économique et social. Il y a plusieurs industries énergivores. Parlons par exemple des industries minières, qui ont besoin d'une énergie stable et durable comme le gaz. Et donc, c'est d'abord une énergie qui va être mise à leur disposition pour assurer le développement et la croissance dans leur pays. » Le soutien affiché par les 13 États concernés s'explique aussi par leurs intérêts économiques. Les futurs producteurs de gaz, comme le Sénégal ou la Mauritanie, pourraient utiliser cette infrastructure pour exporter une partie de leur production. Pour Francis Perrin, directeur de recherche à l'IRIS à Paris et chercheur associé au Policy Center for the New South à Rabat, l'accord politique de la Cédéao constitue une étape importante, sans pour autant garantir le succès du projet : « Quand l'idée de ce projet a été lancée par le Maroc et le Nigeria, qui sont les deux promoteurs principaux en 2016, ça pouvait apparaître comme un très beau rêve. La décision importante de la Cédéao ne veut pas dire que c'est gagné. Mais le projet a quand même avancé. Chacun des pays sur ce tracé a intérêt à ce que ce projet marche. C'est une base, ça permet d'avancer. Ce n'est pas une garantie absolue de succès, bien sûr. » Le défi du financement Le principal obstacle reste désormais financier. Construire près de 7 000 kilomètres de gazoduc représente un investissement estimé à 25 milliards de dollars. Dopo il SE in italiano ci vuole sempre il congiuntivo? Ho un trucchetto che può aiutarvi a fare chiarezza una volta per tutte. Trucco per Non Sbagliare il Congiuntivo Il Problema: Dove Va il Congiuntivo? Osserva queste tre frasi e prova a individuare quale è corretta: A) «Se avrei più soldi, viaggerei di più.» B) «Se avessi più soldi, viaggerei di più.» C) «Se avessi più soldi, viaggiassi di più.» La risposta corretta è la B. Ma perché le altre due sono sbagliate? La A è sbagliata perché dopo «se» non si usa mai il condizionale — in nessun caso, anche quando può sembrare logico. È uno degli errori più comuni in assoluto, ma in italiano corretto è assolutamente da evitare. La C è sbagliata perché usa il congiuntivo in entrambe le parti della frase: il secondo verbo non segue «se», quindi non deve essere al congiuntivo. Il problema di fondo è sempre lo stesso: non sapere dove mettere cosa. Ed è esattamente quello che questo articolo chiarisce. Il Secondo Periodo Ipotetico La frase «Se avessi più soldi, viaggerei di più» è un esempio di secondo periodo ipotetico: descrive una situazione ipotetica e poco probabile, ma non impossibile. Non si hanno molti soldi in questo momento, ma la situazione potrebbe cambiare in futuro. Questo tipo di frase segue una regola fissa, senza eccezioni: congiuntivo imperfetto + condizionale presente Il problema è che molti conoscono questa regola a memoria, ma nel momento in cui devono applicarla arriva il dubbio: «Quale dei due va dopo 'se'? E quale va nell'altra parte?» Ed è qui che entra in gioco il trucco. Il Trucco: "SE Vuole SS" Il trucco è questo: "SE vuole SS". Nell'altra parte della frase mettere il condizionale presente. Le Coniugazioni da Conoscere Il Congiuntivo Imperfetto Il congiuntivo imperfetto ha sempre la doppia S — con una sola eccezione, come si vedrà a breve. Il Trucco in Azione: Esempi Pratici In ciascuno degli esempi seguenti, il «se» è sempre affiancato dal verbo con la doppia S — il congiuntivo imperfetto — mentre l'altra parte della frase porta il condizionale presente. «Se cambiassi città, troverei nuove opportunità di lavoro.» «Se non fossero così timidi, farebbero nuove amicizie facilmente.» «Se dessimo più attenzione ai dettagli, commetteremmo meno errori.» «Se tu traducessi questo testo, aiuteresti molte persone.» «Se non facesse così tardi, uscireste ancora un po'?» Il trucco funziona anche quando la frase è invertita — cioè quando il condizionale viene prima. Il congiuntivo rimane sempre vicino al «se», indipendentemente dall'ordine: «Mangereste meglio se sceglieste ingredienti più freschi.» «Capirei tutto se il professore parlasse più lentamente.» «Sarebbe tutto più semplice se le persone ascoltassero di più.» Gli Errori Più Comuni da Evitare Errore 1: Il Condizionale Dopo "Se" «Se avrei più tempo, studierei di più.» «Se avessi più tempo, studierei di più.» Dopo «se» il condizionale non si usa mai — anche quando sembra logico, anche quando lo si sente nell'italiano parlato informale. In italiano corretto è sempre sbagliato. Il trucco "SE vuole SS" è proprio il modo più efficace per non dimenticarlo. Errore 2: Il Congiuntivo in Entrambe le Parti della Frase «Se parlassi meglio l'italiano, trovassi più facilmente lavoro.» «Se parlassi meglio l'italiano, troveresti più facilmente lavoro.» Il congiuntivo appartiene esclusivamente alla parte della frase introdotta da «se». Nell'altra parte ci vuole sempre il condizionale presente. Errore 3: Confondere Secondo e Terzo Periodo Ipotetico Questo è un errore più sottile, ma importante. Considera queste due frasi: «Se studiassi di più, prenderesti voti migliori.» → secondo periodo ipotetico: la situazione è improbabile ma ancora possibile. «Se avessi studiato di più, avresti preso voti migliori.» → terzo periodo ipotetico: la situazione appartiene al passato e non può più cambiare. La differenza è fondamentale: nel secondo periodo ipotetico la situazione può ancora cambiare; nel terzo si parla di qualcosa di definitivamente passato. I tempi verbali cambiano di conseguenza: Secondo: congiuntivo imperfetto + condizionale presente Terzo: congiuntivo trapassato + condizionale passato Domande Frequenti Come Faccio a Ricordare Quale Tempo Va Dove? Con il trucco "SE vuole SS": la parola «se» vuole sempre accanto a sé il verbo con la doppia S, cioè il congiuntivo imperfetto. Nell'altra parte della frase va il condizionale presente. L'ordine delle due parti può variare, ma questa distribuzione rimane sempre invariata. Cosa Succede Se la Frase È Invertita? Il trucco funziona lo stesso. Anche quando il condizionale compare nella prima parte della frase, il congiuntivo rimane sempre vicino al «se». Per esempio: «Capirei tutto se il professore parlasse più lentamente.» Qual È la Differenza tra Secondo e Terzo Periodo Ipotetico? Attendees have raved about the trend, praising it for bringing badly needed Jewish resilience and inspiration that lasts long after the boat owners set their feet on dry land. In fact, the idea has been such a success that it's multiplied. There are, in fact, two different spiritual celebrations each Friday, organized and operated by separate people. Both groups of boats listen to Jewish music alongside candles, challah, a rabbi and seafaring shmoozing, but don't mix them up—each organizer is quick to point out key differences in flavour and religious observance. With three drill rigs active across two priority areas, the company has reported an 11.5 metre composite uranium mineralization intersection at Lac 50 West, located four kilometres from the known Lac 50 deposit, and a 37 metre composite intersection at RIB North, the widest result recorded at that target to date. Both results support CEO Troy Boisjoli's description of a district-scale opportunity spanning a 21-kilometre corridor at Lac 50 and an 18-kilometre corridor at RIB, rather than a series of isolated deposits.Management has been clear that 2026 is not a delineation year. Drilling is deliberately spaced between 150 and 500 metres apart, designed to establish continuity of mineralization across the wider system before committing to tighter, resource-defining infill drilling, which the company expects could begin in 2027 if results continue to track as planned. This sequencing is a meaningful signal for investors: near-term news flow is likely to focus on scale and continuity rather than resource ounces, and grade or thickness data should be read in that context.The program is well funded, following a $63 million raise in the first quarter of 2026 led by Queens Road Capital, giving the company a stated 24-month runway. Dans cet épisode, nous parlons de tout ce qui touche à l'eau, du plus intime (peut-on boire l'eau du robinet sans risque, faut-il un filtre, l'eau chaude est-elle dangereuse) au plus vertigineux (pourquoi les grands lacs du monde rétrécissent, comment des États s'accusent de voler la pluie de leurs voisins, pourquoi l'eau pourrait devenir la ressource géopolitique du siècle qui vient).J'ai questionné Simon sur les fausses bonnes idées autour de l'eau en bouteille, sur les méga-bassines et leur effet rebond, sur le cycle de l'eau qui se dérègle avec le climat, et sur ce qu'on appelle l'empreinte eau, celle qu'on porte sans le savoir dans chaque jean, chaque verre de vin, chaque steak. On termine sur une question toute simple que personne ne se pose jamais : pourquoi n'existe-t-il aucune gouvernance mondiale dédiée à l'eau, alors que tout le monde a soif ?Un épisode dense, parfois inquiétant, mais qui donne surtout envie de regarder l'eau qui coule du robinet avec un peu plus de respect.Citations marquantes"L'eau du robinet, c'est le produit alimentaire le plus contrôlé en France.""Si l'eau a un goût de chlore, c'est justement qu'elle a été bien désinfectée.""Il y a toujours la même quantité d'eau sur la planète. Un filtre Brita retire le goût du chlore mais ne protège pas contre les PFAS ni les microplastiques, et un filtre mal changé devient pire que l'eau brute. L'eau en bouteille, elle, contient aussi des polluants, parfois des traces d'excréments qui ont mené à la destruction de lots entiers. La quantité d'eau sur Terre ne change pas, mais sa répartition dans le temps oui : plus de sécheresses en hiver, plus d'inondations au printemps, des sols trop secs qui n'absorbent plus rien. D'où l'idée de "villes éponges" capables de stocker l'eau de pluie au lieu de la laisser ruisseler vers les fleuves. Elles permettent de puiser l'eau en hiver pour irriguer en été, mais elles créent un effet rebond : les agriculteurs continuent à cultiver comme si l'eau était infinie, sans jamais s'adapter vraiment au climat qui change.
