The parallels between the two stories highlight themes of ambition, manipulation, and the ruthless pursuit of fame. All About Eve and All About Mariah: A Comparative Analysis"All About Mariah" is a clear reference to "All About Eve," the classic 1950s film directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz for 20th Century Fox. In the movie, a young Eve Harrington, played by Anne Baxter, cozies up to Bette Davis' aging Margo Channing, only to shoot herself to superstardom. Harrington grows close to Channing, adopts some of her mannerisms, and becomes a fixture in her life. When Harrington achieves success, she leaves the aging Broadway star in the dust as she ascends to the award-winning spotlight.ComparisonsIntroduction to the Protagonist All About EveAspiring actress Eve Harrington enters the life of established theater actress Margo Channing via Margo's close friend, Karen Richards. All About MariahMariah May enters Toni Storm's life through RJ City.First Meeting All About EveEve meets Margo for the first time as her big fan in the dressing room before a performance. All About MariahMariah meets Toni in a similar fan-like manner.Suspicion of IntentionsAll About EveMargo's maid, Birdie, gets suspicious of Eve's intentions immediately. All About MariahToni's butler, Luther, is similarly suspicious of Mariah's motives.Adopting the Star's PersonaAll About EveEve tries on Margo's costume while nobody is looking. All About MariahMariah always keeps hold of the AEW Women's World title and starts cosplaying as “Toni,” evolving from her rocker gimmick to her outcast gimmick.Becoming the UnderstudyAll About EveEve slowly manages to become Margo's understudy. All About MariahMariah starts repeating Toni's catchphrases and “learning from her.” They become “bosom buddies. Újabb hollywoodi klasszikust pótoltunk a héten: az All About Eve (Mindent Éváról) Joseph Mankiewicz rendezése 1950-ből. A filmet rekordszámú, 14 Oscarra jelölték, amelyből ugyancsak rekordszámú, négy jelölést kaptak a színésznők. Ezt azóta sem tudta megismételni egyetlen produkció sem. Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, Celeste Holm és Thelma Ritter is emlékezeteset nyújtanak, mellettük még egy nyúlfarknyi szerepben Marilyn Monroe is feltűnik. Az adásunkban a wmn.hu kritikusa, Gyárfás Dorka volt a vendégünk. A Mindent Éváról a New York-i színészvilágban, a Broadway környezetében játszódik - milyen általános, és ma is érvényes állításokat fogalmaz meg a sztárságról? Hogyan száll szembe a műfaji sztereotípiákkal az átverésekkel, rivalizálással, szélhámossággal foglakozó történet? Miért lenyűgözően sokrétű Bette Davis alakítása a negyvenes éveiben járó színpadi legenda, Margo Channing szerepében? Anne Baxter hogyan lepi meg a nézőket a feltörő üdvöske, Eve Harrington szerepében? George Sanders játssza a kritikust, Addison DeWittet, akin keresztül az egész sajtóról alkot képet Mankiewicz filmje. Shy, sincere and conscientious, Eve Harrington's dream is realised when she is taken on as a personal secretary by her actress idol, Margo Crane. However, Eve's seemingly innocent and devoted demeanour masks her true intentions– to usurp Margo's position in the theatre world and become the new reigning star. Many people know or have heard of the film version of this story, starring Bette Davis and Anne Baxter. But this is a rare chance to see the stage version with an amazingly strong Cork cast of leading ladies!! And they joined Elmarie in studio on Sunday. One of the few male cast members, Jim O Mahony, also treated everyone to a bit of smooth Sinatra for the Jazz weekend! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The story is based on actress/writer Mary Orr’s short story for Cosmopolitan magazine “The Wisdom of Eve” published in December 1946. It tells the tale of an actress (Margo Channing) who is threatened by a younger ingenue, Eve Harrington. At the time, people suspected it was secretly about the supposed rivalry on Broadway between Tallulah Bankhead and her understudy Lizabeth Scott. Orr claims it was actually about Martina Lawrence and Elizabeth Bergner.  The story was bought by 20th Century Fox for $5000 and writer/director Joseph Mankiewicz created the script that would become the classic film that won six Academy Awards, fantastic performances, and a plethora of quotable lines that have lasted to this day.  In this ep the Margos discuss: The All About Eve origin story Which actors did (and did not) get along Trivia about the film and behind the scenes gossip The amazing women in the film The unusual number of retakes created a year after the film was first made The cast  Bette Davis (Margo Channing,) Anne Baxter (Eve Harrington,) George Sanders (Addison DeWitt,) Celeste Holm (Karen Richards,) Gary Merill (Bill Simpson,) Marilyn Monroe (Miss Casswell,) and Thelma Ritter (Birdie Coonan.)  Clips Featured: All About Eve  trailer Eve meets Miss Casswell “Fasten your seatbelts…” Bill loves Margo Margo describes what it means to be a woman Eve now belongs to Addison Outro music Bette Davis Eyes (Performed by Kim Carnes) Join our Patreon page to help support the show! https://www.patreon.com/bookversusmovie  Book Vs.
