We like to complain about them but those who commentate golf on TV create the soundtrack of the game's history. A standout amateur and six-time PGA Tour winner, Koch sits down for a chat with John Huggan to reflect on a life intertwined with the game and some of its greatest players.

We've got a very special guest today - kind of like Jordan and the Bulls in the late 80s and early 90s he has been getting his program better bit by bit each year until this year they finally busted through their ceiling. For the 1st time since 2005 they were able to advance past the 2nd round of the playoffs, and this year it was alll the way to the Regional Semis against state power Humble Summer Creek led by TPP alum Carlesa Dixon (ep. 22)!! He has upheld the standard that many former Team Player Podcast alums set waaay back in 2010. We might as well call it the six degrees of Jyusef Larry instead of Kevin Bacon as Westbury Christian is the alma mater of another TPP alum who comes up in our conversation, the Head Basketball Coach of the Northbrook Raiders, and THE biggest Chiefs fan you know, Jason Campbell (ep.18)!! - This past year Coach Kovo was treated to being assigned broadcasts of many Memorial Mustangs football games in the fall. Memorial Mustangs fans will delight in hearing more about the school and long-time leader of the athletic department, the ever-dynamic Gary Koch, before diving into the main course. The story of the history-making 2022-2023 Memorial Mustangs Girls Basketball team!! - Finally, much like Coach Kovo, Jyusef was a contrarian as a child which explains his eclectic fandom as a diehard Cubs, Bears, and Michigan Wolverines fan! The guys also discuss wins by Tony Finau on the PGA Tour and Tommy Fleetwood on the DP World Tour and the future of LIV Golf and how it will look in 2023. News hits on the report that NBC will be replacing Roger Maltbie and Gary Koch on their golf broadcasts, and the odd backlash that followed. It also touches on the report that Mark King, formerly of TaylorMade, may become the new LIV Golf CEO while Greg Norman would head “upstairs.” Flashback Friday hits on the Houston legend that was Homero Blancas, and his magic round of 55. Then the two clowns record their first ever Golf Advice segment, reading through a handful of listener submitted emails.

Hello Fellow Golfists,In this episode I try to watch golf and talk golf at the same time. I try to be couch commentator to add validity to whatever Justin Leonard isn't talking about. I am really missing Gary Koch from this NBC broadcast. Anyway, I talk briefly about Dustin Johnson's win in Saudi Arabia this week and express hopes for next weeks Pebble Beach Am - Pro from Monterey. Koepka creeps up and wins with a eagle chip in on the 17th and NBC doesn't show the replay. I got back my Callaway Great Big Bertha 7 wood but I'll try it out next weekend. I'll make a video of this asap. Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.
