This Sunday episode starts with a Sports Minute in which Brendan asks Andy to answer for Illinois hanging a banner upside down during Saturday night's game. There's also some chatter about the USA-Canada hockey game ad the Four Nations Faceoff. In a positive for golf, the Sports Minute closes with an agreement from everyone that the Presidents Cup has more juice than the NBA All Star Game! From there, Andy and Brendan discuss Ludvig Åberg's first win in a Signature Event at the Genesis Invitational. They talk through Ludvig's come-from-behind victory, chasing down Maverick McNealey at Torrey Pines. There's some intel from the ground that Ludvig skipped out on buying the media beers after his ace which leads to Brendan ranting about this ridiculous tradition. Andy has some critiques about the setup on Sunday and the two also discuss Tiger's appearance in the booth coming down the stretch on CBS. With the West Coast swing over and done, Andy, Brendan, and PJ give out some awards to commemorate the first six events of the season. After some internet issues due to cold weather, the conversation moves on to LIV Adelaide, won by Joaquin Niemann. Brendan dives into some reporting about LIV's ratings in Australia and their balance sheets from the past few years showing that the league is spending billions of dollars without much return. Champions Tour Minute checks in on the spread at the Chubb Classic to finish this episode. Justin Leonard won for the first time since 2008, but folks are upset about Papa and Zinger not being on-site for the call!

He graduated from the University of Colorado with a Master's of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1997 and went on to work at the renowned Aspen Sports Medicine clinic prior to opening up his own private practice in 2001. His client list has included Fortune 500 hundred business owners from Jones Apparel, Progressive Insurance & Fiji water, as well as, Hollywood stars including Ed Bradley and Kevin Costner. Pete's dedication to advancing the fitness industry and his entrepreneurial spirit has inspired him to create multiple products that impact fitness enthusiasts and athletes worldwide. His first product, The Functional Training Rack, was licensed to Perform Better in 2008 and inspired “hoop” platforms for current stability ball rack designs. His second product, the RIPCORE-FX, was acquired by TRX and is now referred to as the TRX Rip Trainer. The Rip Trainer has grossed over $30 million in worldwide sales and can be seen in commercial gyms and sports performance centers around the world. Next, seeing a need for Golf specific training modalities, Pete partnered with GolfForever and iterated the Rip Trainer into the GolfForever Swing Trainer (the world's first 2 in 1 Golf training aid.) With custom handles and coaching zones, a lightweight aluminum shaft and weighted ball heads for overspeed training, the Swing Trainer has quickly become the number one Golf training aid sold in Golf Galaxy, PGA Superstores and Dicks Sporting Goods. Endorsed by pro Golfers Scottie Scheffler, Ryan Palmer and Justin Leonard, the Swing Trainer is poised to revolutionize fitness training for Golfers! The Glute Drive is Nautilus's number one selling commercial strength product, selling over 3000 units a year. Pete's latest product is the world's first Loaded Carry/Sled Push combo machine. Growing up on a small farm in Littleton Colorado, Pete hauled road base, concrete, railroad ties and manure around the farm. He attributed his grip, hip and core strength, which later lead to him becoming a US National TaeKwon-Do champion, to his Farm Strong work. He brought the concept to Escape Fitness and the Escape Barrow was created. Pete works tirelessly on developing education, programming and products that will have a positive impact on health and fitness worldwide. In Part 2 of Episode 39, I am joined by former Blackhawks goalie and current broadcast team member Darren Pang, as well as former Major League infielder/outfielder Kurt Bevacqua. Darren Pang has become a great friend of the show over the years. He is one of the all-time great hockey broadcasters, I am particularly fond of his work for the NHL Network and during the Winter Olympics. Darren is also an ambassador for Miura Golf. In this segment, Panger shares his insights on the Blackhawks draft and the thrilling Stanley Cup Finals between the Panthers and Oilers. He recounts stories from attending the 1997 Open Championship, which Justin Leonard won at Royal Troon, and his return to play the course in 2005. We also hear about his experience playing Carnoustie, the site of this year's Senior Open, his backyard putting green that rolls at 12.5 on the stimp, and what's in his bag these days. Kurt Bevacqua played in the Major Leagues from 1971 to 1985 for the Indians, Royals, Pirates, Brewers, Rangers, and Padres. Known as "Dirty Kurt" for always having the dirtiest uniform on the team, he shares a story about meeting his childhood idol, Mickey Mantle, during an old-timers game at Arlington Stadium. He also discusses his complicated times playing in Pittsburgh and his wish for more regular at-bats to showcase his abilities. Kurt talks about his relationship with Willie Stargell and the impact Willie had on his career. Finally, we reflect on his 1984 season in San Diego and what would have been an MVP performance, had the Padres won the Series.

As 2023 is winding down, it was PNC time again. Bernhard Langer and his son won the title, but Tiger and Charlie Woods stole the show as expected. Charlie showed off his power and charisma as he drove par 4's and made chip-in birdies. It was great to see Tiger out there having a great time as Charlie soaked up the attention and was all over social media. With Charlie Woods all over the internet, we have a special guest interview this week with his high school coach at the Benjamin School, Toby Harbeck. The Benjamin School is coming off a state championship, where Charlie played an integral part in the win. Toby will give us some insight into coaching with the spotlight on his team, his interactions with Tiger Woods and Justin Leonard as his son also is on the team. He also will talk about Jack Nicklaus and his sons, as they also played for Toby in the 80's. You won't want to miss this interview. It sounds like the PGA Tour may be getting an infusion of cash, but not from the Saudi's and the PIF as we thought. The Strategic Sports Group, with owners from multiple sports teams, the Boston Celtics and Red Sox, Atlanta Falcons, etc. is in talks to infuse $3 billion dollars into the tour. What does this do for the talks with the PIF/LIV golf? Will the tour get billions from both? Will that deal fall out? Time will tell as we put a bow on 2023 and get ready for the 2024 golf season.
In the final episode of 2023, John Swantek hangs with Justin Leonard, who comes off a win at the World Champions Cup with Team USA, and is competing in this week's PNC Championship. Plus, Bob Harig explores all the recent news in the professional golf world including Tiger Woods as we wrap up the season.
Justin Leonard talks about his first full season on the PGA Tour Champions, shares Ryder Cup memories, gives thoughts on the 2023 Ryder Cup and shares whether he would be interested in being a captain or vice captain for the US in the future.
The three time Ryder Cup player and 1999 hero of the 'Battle of Brookline' had a front row in Rome as an analyst for NBC. Justin breaks down all facets of Europe's dominant performance over Team USA and what stood out, as well as what needs to change ahead of 2025 at Bethpage Black. Never launch your perfect product, always launch the imperfect product. If you think back to the iPad 1 it only became the product that it is after several iterations. In my personal experience when I wrote the book "abominable secrets revealed" It was only a year since I learned how to type. Prior to joining the Air Force I did not know how to type. I had to figure out how to type 30 words per minute to get through training. The book was published without a ISBN number, I didn't hire a proof reader. And what I did is I published it and then over time I perfected it. Don't launch a perfect product, always go ahead and launch the imperfect product and then improve it as you go. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-inventive-journey/message
