In another player interview I was joined by Ladies European Tour pro and the very talented Moa Folke who called in from back home in Tranås, Sweden before flying out to South Korea for Aramco Series Korea then the European swing in the summer. Tranås is also where Kajsa Arwefjäll was originally brought up. A representative of Landeryds Golfklubb, Moa would go to Murray State University in Kentucky where she would be a 4x Ohio Valley Conference 1st team selection as part of Murray State Racers and was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year for 2017 whilst also competing at NCAA Championships twice. Moa would turn pro in 2018 and would win on Swedish Golf Tour in 2019 at Tegelberga Open defeating Linn Grant & Emma Svensson by a whopping 6 shots. At the end of 2021. Moa would gain her LET Card at Final Q School for the 2022 season and at Dromoland Castle for KPMG Women's Irish Open Moa would be the 36 hole leader after shooting at -10 62 on Friday. In 2023 in the Sunshine Ladies Tour Folke would win Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am at -8 by 3 shots to Annelise Caudal, that would set up for a good run on LET with 2 runner ups at Joburg Ladies Open and Lacoste Ladies Open de France as well as T9th at KPMG Women's Irish Open. In 2024 by Moa"s own admission was worse as she admitted trying to force things after a good 2023 ultimately leading to finishing 38th on LET Order of Merit. In 2025 it's been a solid start for Moa as she would post a respectable T14th at PIF Saudi Ladies Intl in a high quality field, was in contention at Australian Women's Classic before unfortunately a final round 77 propelled her to T27th then T5th at Ford NSW Open in Woollongong. She currently sits in 21st on LET Order of Merit standings and with a big European run coming up hopefully we will see Moa challenging more often. Great player even better person. Lovely and down to earth. Download via Podbean, Apple & Spotify and be sure to like and subscribe. Thanks
In this episode I was joined by Swedish LET title winner Lisa Pettersson as we found out about her preparation just before last week's first LET event in Rabat, Morocco. A lot of things have changed for Lisa having recently got married to her long term partner and recalls the unfortunate story of her now husband getting involved in a slight skiing accident causing a fractured elbow that required surgery just a couple of days before the wedding, thankfully everything worked out! Lisa is from Stockholm, Sweden currently residing in Solna just outside of Stockholm and won Most Outstanding Female Scholar Athlete at East Carolina University. Lisa turned Professional in 2018 and while admittedly struggling she managed to win Swedish Matchplay on Nordic Tour and would play on Symetra Tour now Epson Tour in 2019 and discusses States life. In 2020 I Civid year Lisa in Arizona would win on Cactus Tour Arizona & finished 2nd behind the legend Anna Nordqvist not long after. At Final Stage LET Q School in 2021 Lisa would finish 2nd to gain LET status for 2022 and would hold the clubhouse lead at Skaftö Open before narrowly missing out to Linn Grant. 2023 would be much better with a T6th at Aramco Team Series - Hong Kong before winning her home open in Helsingborg in June defeating Ana Pelaez Trivino by a shot to win her maiden title. At Dromoland in Ireland Lisa would get into a playoff at Irish Women's Open with Smilla Tarning Soenderby & Anne Van Dam before losing out to eventual winner Smilla Tarning Søenderby who had produce a worldie of a round to win. A nice episode was had with Lisa and I hope you enjoy! As always I ask if you could download, listen, rate and review via Podbean, Apple Podcasts & Spotify. Thanks for the continued support!

At Muirfield Village, Jack Nicklaus shared the hand of Scottie Scheffler who continues to dominate in Tiger Woods fashion with his win at the Memorial (1:28).Alex made the trek to LIV Houston to see if it really was "Golf, but louder." Spoiler: it wasn't (5:47).On the DP World Tour, they held their annual mixed field event, the Volvo Cars Scandinavian Mixed, where the leader had an unfortunate collapse to allow Linn Grant her second win at the event (11:42).On the LPGA Tour, Linnea Strom made the cut on the number, then posted a record tying round to overcome a 6-shot deficit to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic (13:21).The US Open returns to Pinehurst No. 2, where Scottie Scheffler is far and way the favorite. Usually one to shy away from the favorites, Alex thinks it may be a good idea to bet hard on Scottie, whose game is well suited for the North Carolina course (15:43).In Tuned In, Alex is sharing in the joy of a hole-in-one for a golf creator whose not the best at the game, while Michael finally got a round of simulator golf in at X Golf (19:45).The NBA Finals have started with a bang for the Boston Celtics, and Alex is hopeful he'll be at the deciding game in Dallas for his hometown Celtics (26:18).The Women's Olympic Basketball team was announced for Team USA, and Caitlin Clark is notably absent, but when you stop and look at it, it all makes sense (29:53).As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex is hyped up for the new Arby's Burger Driver, while the guys can't believe the spread the Celtics put out for the media at the Garden (32:00). In another Chasing Pars player exclusive interview sponsored by Golf Tips Checker I was absolutely delighted to be joined by 1x LPGA Tour winner, 5x Ladies European Tour winner & 2023 Solheim Cup star Maja Stark who becomes my 25th Professional Player interview. In this brilliant episode with Maja we find out about her background growing up in the village of Abbekås in Sweden growing up with an older brother they would play competitively in most things against each other. We find out that Maja was in the same year & went to the same school as none other than Ludvig Åberg & Linn Grant while Madelene Sagstrom was also at the same school in Helsingborg. Craig asks some quick fire questions to find out more about Maja with a nice little discussion on ABBA (Why Not?). It was at the age of 15 where Maja would start to get noticed by Top Swedish Coaches & managed to get into university at Oklahoma State University where she was a First Team All American & won 2021 Big 12 Championship with Oklahoma State. Other Amateur accolades include being on the 2017 Junior Solheim Cup Team for Europe, Winning the European Girls Amateur Team Champs with Sweden, winning European Amateur Team Champs 3 times with Sweden & being a part of the successful International side at 2020 Palmer Cup at Bay Hill. Maja turned Professional in 2021 & since then she's been relentless when it comes to getting wins with 6 wins in a 2 year spell on LET Tour & which includes the win in 2022 at the Co-sanctioned ISPS Handa World Invitational at Galgorm Castle which would help secure full LPGA Tour status. 2023 was a decent year for Maja with T2nd at Tournament of Champions in the opening event & T4th at both Honda LPGA Thailand & Women's Scottish Open events. Maja would win Lalla Meryem Cup on the LET beating Linn Grant by 4 shots & would also get to play in her first Solheim Cup for Team Europe at Finca Cortesin contributing to 2 & a half points for Europe on Debut. An experience that Maja says she will never forget. As Tournament of Champs starts up next week I ask Maja about her goals going forward for 2024 with making back to back Solheim Cup teams the top of her list along with the Majors. We mention about Maja & Linn's friendship but eagerness to beat each other every time on the Golf course & we also talk late about what to expect from WAGR number 1 Ingrid Lindblad and what the future holds for Ingrid when she does finally turn pro. It was amazing to speak to one of the best players in the world again & to try and process what goals they try to achieve & what obstacles they have to overcome to achieve them. Maja was a lovely person with an even better Golf game & is a future Major Champion in waiting! Please Like, Download & Subscribe on Podbean & Spotify I want this episode to reach as many people as possible!

We have reached Solheim Cup week! On the latest episode of The Slam - in association with Callaway - Matt Chivers and Matt Coles look ahead to the match between Europe and America at Finca Cortesin. The team considered who would be the star performers on each side, with both Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis having an abundance of experience and freshness at their disposal. Who will Charley Hull be paired with in Spain? Will America's Solheim Cup veteran Lexi Thompson be paired with the impressive Rose Zhang? America has two major champions as rookies, Lilia Vu and Allisen Corpuz, but will they trump the youth of Linn Grant and Maja Stark? There are so many dynamics to consider. The Matts also look back on the BMW PGA Championship which was superbly won by Ryan Fox, despite making a triple-bogey on the front nine at Wentworth. With the entire European Ryder Cup side in the field, how pleased will Luke Donald be with his team's performance? Also, we congratulate Sahith Theegala on his first win on the PGA Tour at the Fortinet Championship after many heartbreaking near misses. You know what to do!

After a tumultuous few days in golf Martin and Des reflect on the good, the bad and the ugly. The good includes the sensational performance from Linn Grant to win the DP World Tour Swedish Mixed tournament and Rory battling it out in Canada with Justin Thomas and Tony Finau. The bad includes the awful golf at the inaugural LIV Golf event, the treatment of the press corps and the car crash press conferences from the players. The ugly focuses on the damage being done to the PGA Tour and the looming legal battle that now seems inevitable. With the US Open this week the Boston fans will be the first to express their opinions within earshot of the players. The PGA TOUR took over Canada this weekend, and the headlines were Rory, JT, and Tony Finau, who played together Sunday for one of the most exciting finishes this year. And as hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell share, it came at just the right time (2:04). Across the pond, the LIV Tour burst into reality as they hosted their first "tournament" outside of London. Alex and Michael wonder at the spectacle, and wonder about its relevance (4:09). The ladies represented big time on the DP World Tour, where the Scandinavian Mixed featured both men and women, and the winner, by 9 shots, was Linn Grant (10:38). Stateside, American Brittany Lincicome played to a T-6 on the LPGA Tour while being 28 weeks pregnant (11:47). This week, attention turns to Brookline, MA and The Country Club for the US Open. Wonky New England golf will take over the usual "Toughest Test in Golf," while the LIV "stars" make their return to the states. Phil Mickelson's Monday press conference highlights what may be to come for the PGA TOUR defectors (12:38). As the CoL Book Club continues, Alex and Michael recap chapters 6-8 of Alan Shipnuck's "Phil," where we learn about the union of Phil and his caddy Bones, Tiger Woods's explosion onto the golf scene, and Phil's label of "Best Golfer to Never Win A Major" (17:15). In Tuned In, Michael celebrated love at a weekend wedding, while Alex was rocking out with the LIV Tour's apres golf concert series (22:35). This week's first guest is a professional golfer who qualified for his first US Open. Sean Jacklin shares his golf story, his plans for this weekend in Brookline, and what it's like playing in a tournament his father, Tony Jacklin, won in 1970 (26:28). Another US Open qualified and past guest, Taylor Montgomery, also joins the pod to chat about whats been going on in his golfing world since last joining, including earning his Korn Ferry Tour card, and qualified to play in his second US Open (44:53). Boston keeps things rolling this week, but having the US Open and Game 6 of the NBA Playoffs, in which Alex has high hopes the Celtics will take the series to a pivotal Game 7 (56:27). As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex has a new favorite at The Cheesecake Factory, while Michael is snacking on some Old Bay Goldfish (57:15). In the big picture, the most important thing to happen in golf last week was Linn Grant winning the Scandinavian Mixed event. We at least talked about that a bit before getting completely derailed - like everybody else - by LIV Golf and the turmoil at the top of the men's professional game. We took a trip to Centurion last week to watch the conclusion of the first ever LIV Event and we have a good chat about what was good and what improvements could be made from our experience. We also have a chat about history being made on the DP World Tour as Linn Grant became the first female winner on the tour and we take a look back at Rory's unbelievable victory at the RBC Canadian Open. We give our BIRDIE BOGEY BUST for the week and take a look ahead at the third major of the season at The Country Club at Brookline for the US Open. Professionel golf er i forandring.
U.S. Open week has arrived but there's plenty to dispense with from a monumental weekend in the professional game. Andy and Brendan begin first with Rory McIlroy's win at the Canadian Open, battling JT in front of a full-throated crowd and then taking a shot at Greg Norman on the way out of town. They praise most of the product on display, while cautioning against extrapolating anything larger from it. Jay Monahan's appearance in the booth on CBS is critiqued, and they wonder what's possibly next for the commish. The LIV Saturday finale is reviewed and it's debated whether “exhibition” is the perfect term for that snoozefest finish where the only thing notable was the payout. They close by hailing Linn Grant's dominance in a mixed event, as well as the lopsided Curtis Cup that may need to broaden the net. Lastly, the pro shop currently has a Father's Day sale ongoing, with some new Brookline-themed polos and other merch -- everything is 15% off auto-applied at checkout.
This week has the crew excited as football is within reach and the dog days of (almost) summer begin. Muff talks about his weekend in Raleigh, including a championship trophy during a golf outing. Jim continues to almost have a stroke introducing the NFL offseason segment. Alex brings interesting perspectives as always while keeping the peace during Quick Thoughts. (Spoiler Alert: One person gets an auto loss in Quick Thoughts for their thoughts on WVU)
LIV Golf, Rory McIlroy, Linn Grant y el US Open.
