Transformation is calling—are you listening? Dr. BethAnne Kapansky-Wright guides us through the sacred art of metamorphosis, revealing why change isn't just inevitable but necessary for our souls' evolution. Why do we resist changing shapes when our hearts desperately want to expand? Dr. BethAnne uncovers the sneaky ways resistance manifests—not just in our obvious desires to maintain the status quo, but in the harsh self-judgment we inflict when we don't "adapt properly" to life's transitions. This internal criticism creates invisible barriers to the very transformations trying to unfold within us.Drawing wisdom from her book "Small Pearl's Big Wisdom," she reminds us that "a person could live in a square hole their entire life and never realize they were meant to be round." Our questions aren't failures—they're invitations. Our discontent isn't wrong—it's an opportunity to discover who we're becoming. As the Akashic Records described 2025 as "the year of remapping peace," we're collectively learning to rewire neural pathways and find equilibrium amid constant change.Key talking points include: • Understanding that our resistance to change often manifests as harsh self-judgment or criticism• Viewing our questions and discontent as invitations for growth rather than problems to solve• Learning to "change shapes" rather than forcing ourselves to stay in old patterns• Approaching transformation with curiosity and compassion instead of fear• Using visualization to invite grace – that "golden energy" that softens difficult transitions• Finding anchors in our core values while trusting the unknown aspects of our journey• Remembering that our future self is already reaching back to us with compassionWith gentle wisdom and poetic insights, Dr. Bethann invites you to keep your heart open to change rather than closing down in fear. The stardust running through your veins contains all the wisdom you need—you just need to trust the process and allow yourself to become the new shape your soul is calling you toward.Join us next week for an all-new episode of Your Heart Magic and more psychology, spirituality, storytelling, and heart wisdom.--Your Heart Magic is a space where heart wisdom, spirituality, and psychology meet. Mini Blinds are a Portland pop band (append your favorite modifier: dream, paisley, egg, psych, warm) that has been ahead of the current vibes and sounds that pervade the genre since their first releases in 2016. Somehow, that polish and know-how make their music seem more vital and alive. We were thrilled to have Beth Ann and Devin in studio to share some killer tunes and talk about the pros and cons of blinding the audience, the fading peak of the internet vis a vis trampoline accident videos, and the next generation of high-octane designer drugs. Oh, and stuff THEY wanted to talk about, too! Music this week from Mini Blinds, Luca Dell'Orso, Roseblood, and 500 Bucks.

1 Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 2 There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him. 3 Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus's feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” 6 (He said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.) 7 Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial. 8 You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”

31 At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to [Jesus], “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” 32 He said to them, “Go and tell that fox for me, ‘Listen, I am casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I finish my work. 33 Yet today, tomorrow, and the next day I must be on my way, because it is impossible for a prophet to be killed outside of Jerusalem.' 34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 35 See, your house is left to you. And I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.' ”

12 Since, then, we have such a hope, we act with great boldness, 13 not like Moses, who put a veil over his face to keep the people of Israel from gazing at the end of the glory that was being set aside. 14 But their minds were hardened. Indeed, to this very day, when they hear the reading of the old covenant, that same veil is still there, since only in Christ is it set aside. 15 Indeed, to this very day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their minds; 16 but when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. 4:1 Therefore, since it is by God's mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2 We have renounced the shameful things that one hides; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God's word; but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God.

1In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3All went to their own towns to be registered. 4Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. 5He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. 7And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. 8In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: 11to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. 12This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.” 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, 14“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” 15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. 17When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. 19But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart. 20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

Luke 1:26-38 26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” 29 But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. 30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” 34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. 36 And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.

31Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; 32and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” 33They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean by saying, ‘You will be made free'?” 34Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. 35The slave does not have a permanent place in the household; the son has a place there forever. 36So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”
In this episode of the Pound of Cure Weight Loss Podcast, we sit down with BethAnn, whose journey through bariatric surgery has completely transformed her life. From struggling with weight her entire life, trying countless diets, and facing health challenges, to finally achieving long-term success after surgery, BethAnn's story is one of determination, resilience, and self-care.BethAnn didn't just stop at weight loss—she took additional steps to feel comfortable in her new body, including skin removal surgery. She also navigated the self-pay bariatric surgery route, making informed decisions to get the best results for her personal situation.Let's dive into her incredible journey and learn how bariatric surgery can change not just your body, but your entire outlook on life. Whether you're exploring bariatric surgery for yourself, curious about skin removal after weight loss, or considering self-pay options, BethAnn's story is packed with insights that may guide you on your own path.Bariatric Surgery Success Story: BethAnn's Lifelong Weight StrugglesBethAnn's story is one that many can relate to. She had been battling her weight since childhood, trying everything from Richard Simmons' Deal-a-Meal to more extreme options like OptiFast, a liquid-only diet. While she did experience short-term weight loss success with these diets—losing as much as 150 pounds—BethAnn found herself regaining the weight over and over.By the time she reached her late 40s, BethAnn had resigned herself to living with the constant weight struggle. After undergoing a hysterectomy, she noticed her weight began to redistribute to her midsection, leading to additional health concerns like high blood pressure and rising cholesterol. She knew she needed a long-term solution."I'd done this seven times—lost the weight, gained it back," BethAnn explains. "The real battle for me was not losing the weight, but keeping it off."That's when she began to seriously consider bariatric surgery. Initially, like many, she hesitated, thinking of it as "cheating" or "taking the easy way out." But as she reframed the narrative, it became clear that bariatric surgery was a tool that could give her a second chance at a healthier life. After researching extensively and watching Dr. Weiner's video series, BethAnn decided to move forward with a gastric bypass procedure. This decision would turn out to be the start of her success story.Choosing Gastric Bypass Over VSGBethAnn's success with bariatric surgery didn't happen overnight, and her choice to go with gastric bypass rather than VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) was strategic. For her, avoiding weight regain was the ultimate goal. She was determined to pick the surgery that gave her the best long-term chance of success, and after careful research, she saw that gastric bypass offered better outcomes for maintaining weight loss over the years."I was less concerned about losing the weight and more focused on keeping it off," she says. "I knew that gastric bypass had better stats when it came to avoiding weight regain, and I'd been through enough yo-yo dieting to know that was my biggest challenge."At the time of her surgery, BethAnn weighed just under 200 pounds—making her a lower BMI patient for bariatric surgery. Still, her choice of gastric bypass was a decision based on her history of weight regain, not just her starting weight.Skin Removal After Weight Loss: A Necessary Next StepAfter her weight stabilized at around 115-120 pounds, BethAnn faced another challenge that many post-op patients encounter: loose skin. This is a common side effect of significant weight loss, especially after bariatric surgery. Skin doesn't always “snap back” into place after the weight is gone, and for BethAnn, it was more than just a cosmetic issue."It wasn't like the loose skin was only visible at certain angles

2Some Pharisees came, and to test [Jesus] they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” 3He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” 4They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.” 5But Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote this commandment for you. 6But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.' 7‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” 10Then in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. 11He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; 12and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” 13People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. 14But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. 15Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” 16And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.

27Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” 28And they answered him, “John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” 29He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Messiah.” 30And he sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him. 31Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32He said all this quite openly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33But turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.” 34He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it. 36For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? 37Indeed, what can they give in return for their life? 38Those who are ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of them the Son of Man will also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

24[Jesus] set out and went away to the region of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know he was there. Yet he could not escape notice,25but a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately heard about him, and she came and bowed down at his feet. 26Now the woman was a Gentile, of Syrophoenician origin. She begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27He said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs.” 28But she answered him, “Sir, even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs.” 29Then he said to her, “For saying that, you may go—the demon has left your daughter.” 30So she went home, found the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone. 31Then he returned from the region of Tyre, and went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. 32They brought to him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they begged him to lay his hand on him. 33He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue. 34Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” 35And immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. 36Then Jesus ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. 37They were astounded beyond measure, saying, “He has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

1 Now when the Pharisees and some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around [Jesus], 2they noticed that some of his disciples were eating with defiled hands, that is, without washing them. 3(For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat unless they thoroughly wash their hands, thus observing the tradition of the elders; 4and they do not eat anything from the market unless they wash it; and there are also many other traditions that they observe, the washing of cups, pots, and bronze kettles.) 5So the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” 6He said to them, “Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written, 6This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; 7in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines.' 8You abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition.” 14Then he called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, all of you, and understand: 15there is nothing outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are what defile. 21“For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, 22adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. 23All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
Beth Ann Rosica, author at Broad + Liberty, joins the program. As a citizen journalist, how does it feel to bring these various stories to light? Her latest piece focuses on the media bias towards RFK Jr. and how he shredded the media for not covering him. And what did Beth Ann find? That no outlets were publishing his speech! Go figure! How does his race relate to Ross Perot's? Moving to immigration, where is the communication breakdown in tracking which illegal, and sometimes dangerous, immigrants are going? ICE and border patrol seem to be at odds. A year after Danelo Cavalcante escaped, Beth Ann wonders why he was in our taxpayer prison and not just deported, as he is an illegal immigrant. We wrap up with more media bias on immigration.

[Jesus said,] 56“Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. 57Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. 58This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died. But the one who eats this bread will live forever.” 59He said these things while he was teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum. 60When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?” 61But Jesus, being aware that his disciples were complaining about it, said to them, “Does this offend you? 62Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64But among you there are some who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the first who were the ones that did not believe, and who was the one that would betray him. 65And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted by the Father.” 66Because of this many of his disciples turned back and no longer went about with him. 67So Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?” 68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
