 Bonjour à toutes et à tous et bienvenue dans un nouvel épisode des balados du Caped.Les longs hivers canadiens laissent place aux beaux jours et au retour des cyclistes aux abords des villes. Même si certains et certaines d'entre eux, pour les plus téméraires, ne les ont pas quittés malgré la neige et le froid, on peut observer une augmentation de la circulation des vélos sur les pistes cyclables montréalaises.Le déplacement en vélo est une alternative certes écologique, mais la pratique du vélo en ville constitue aussi un enjeu politique. En effet, dû au peu d'investissements publics dans l'aménagement des pistes cyclables dans certains quartiers, notamment les plus défavorisés, faire du vélo prend une tout autre forme en termes de sécurité, mais aussi plus globalement en termes de réinvestissement social dans ces quartiers.De plus, la pratique du vélo est politique car certaines catégories sociales, notamment les femmes, se font davantage frapper à vélo. Socialisées à prendre moins de place et à moins s'imposer dans la circulation, les femmes se retrouvent souvent dans les angles morts des automobilistes. Par ailleurs, les femmes issues de l'immigration, souvent peu socialisées à la pratique du vélo, apprennent sur le tard à pédaler et sont moins confiantes sur les routes, ce qui les met le plus souvent en danger. Ainsi, la cohabitation entre les automobilistes, les poids lourds et les cyclistes n'est pas prise au sérieux par les pouvoirs publics et ces derniers négligent la sécurité de certaines populations déjà aux marges de la société.Pourtant, que cela soit pour les femmes ou tout autre groupe marginalisé, la pratique du vélo est vue comme un outil d'empowerment ou d'agentivation. Cela permet d'investir la route, au-delà des frontières de marginalisation urbaines et sociales.Aujourd'hui, plusieurs groupes militent pour plus de sécurité, et pour discuter de tout cela, nous avons le plaisir d'accueillir Fatima Gabriela Salazar Gomez : Fatima est une réfugiée 100% papa à la huancaína, une mestiza à la Gloria Anzaldúa, une féministe décoloniale passionnée de participation et de mobilisation citoyenne, une Nord-Montréalaise beaucoup trop fière de son hood et de son monde. Lorsqu'elle ne milite pas dans son quartier, elle travaille à Hoodstock comme chargée de projet.Nous parlerons de ses engagements à Montréal Nord et des différents projets qu'elle mène pour défendre la mobilité active dans son quartier. Nous sommes très heureux et  heureuses de vous retrouver pour un nouvel épisode d'une série spéciale des balados du CAPED en partenariat avec l'Observatoire des profilages (ODP). La saison hivernale 2022 sera consacrée aux questions de profilages et aux mobilisations sociales autour de ces enjeux.Pour commencer cette série de balados, nous avons le plaisir d'accueillir Pascale Dufour, professeure en science politique et directrice du CAPED ainsi que Francis Dupuis-Déri, professeur en science politique et membre du CAPED, à l'occasion de la parution de leur ouvrage  "Profilages policiers" (Presses de l'Université de Montréal, janvier 2022).Cet ouvrage présente les résultats de neuf enquêtes sur les pratiques de profilage policier au Québec, en France et en Argentine. Il met en lumière les dynamiques de croisement entre différents types de profilages (racial, social, politique et de genre, entre autres). Il se démarque en cela de l'habitude d'étudier le profilage à l'aune d'une seule caractéristique.Dans ce balado, nous mettons l'accent sur le fait que l'intérêt croissant porté aux violences policières apparaît surtout depuis que celles-ci sont visibles dans les centres urbains majoritairement blancs. On pense entre autres au Printemps érable québécois ou encore aux  manifestations des Gilets Jaunes en France. Pourtant, plusieurs groupes, parmi lesquels des groupes racialisés, produisent depuis longtemps des études sur les comportements violents de la police. Au Québec, par exemple, on trouve la Coalition contre la Répression et les Abus Policiers (CRAP), ou encore Hoodstock, ainsi que des comités formés par les proches de victimes de violences policières comme Montréal Nord-republik, fondé après l'assassinat de Fredy Villanueva en 2008.
