This twelfth episode in our UK falconry series highlights one of the other important aspects of falconry: camaraderie. Not all falconers are social with their practice, and that's perfectly fine. However, for a large majority of falconers across the world, the friendships and bonds formed in the field with others practicing this art are as important as the relationships formed with their raptors. This episode features one of those lifelong friendships, with Simon Tyers and Ian Butler taking the time to talk about how they formed their friendship in falconry, their falconry routine, and a few of their falconry highlights in the field! Ian Butler seized the moment at last month's Marathon Project running a nearly 7 minute PR of 2:09:45 and joining an exclusive group of sub 2:10 American men. Butler's underdog journey has followed a serpentine path from high schooler who held a single Division 2 scholarship offer to a post-collegiate runner who nearly quit the sport before joining his current training group, and now a top 5 finisher in the deepest American marathon field ever assembled. But Ian's story is much greater than the sum of his accomplishments. He suffered two traumatic brain injuries as a child — the first as a baby leaving him in a coma. Running eventually provided him an outlet and an anchor. In his words, it saved his life.
@USAultrarunning Flag of United States USA 24 Hour team member, Olivier Leblond broke an American Age-Group 100 mile record at Desert Solstice. However, he comes on the podcast today to talk about his fight outside of the cage and on the front lines of the Black Lives Matter movement. He is one of few professional athletes leading the charge for change and he is even one of fewer MMA fighters out there fighting for what he believes in. He is raising money for the NAACP and Color of Change. He has been doing some amazing things like organizing events to help people and kids through this tough time of uncertainty. You can go to his website or social media and find ways to support this worthy cause and https://www.ianbutlermma.com/blm/ Ian Butler IG https://www.instagram.com/ianbutlermma/ It takes a tough man to step inside the cage and be a professional fighter, it takes in even tougher human to step up and fight for what you believe in. In Episode 5, the boys recapped their predictions for UFC 249. Ian proved that he's better at fighting than picking fights because he didn't do that great. Paul further confirmed that he's not the one to ask when it comes to giving predictions. Their predictions were lackluster at best. Despite that, the podcast was great because Paul and Ian are the two greatest human beings to ever walk on earth let alone host a podcast.
