Las Merrell Skyrunner World Series 2025 han cerrado su primer mes de competición. Cuatro pruebas en semanas consecutivas han llevado a los y las skyrunners a tres países y cuatro pruebas: Acantilados del Norte y Calamorro Skyrace en España, Mexico Skychallenge en Mexico y Merrell Andes Mountain Race en Chile, certificando las previsiones de que este 2025 iba a ser apasionante, con un Luca del Pero mandando en el ránking masculino desde el principio y una categoría femenina tremendamente abierta. En el Territorio Skyrunner World Series de abril hablamos con Patricia Pineda analizando su vuelta a la alta competición a lo grande con su gran triunfo en la Calamorro Skyrace y repasamos con Andrés Olivera estas cuatro primeras pruebas del circuito.

Solemos pensar en Uruguay como un país avanzado en materia digital. El nuestro es un país donde casi el 100% de los hogares tiene acceso a internet, donde la velocidad de conexión es de las más rápidas del mundo, donde el Plan Ceibal va rumbo a cumplir dos décadas. Y sin embargo, quedamos chiquitos al lado de Estonia. Puede parecer extraño el planteo para La Mesa TIC. ¿Por qué hablar de Estonia, ese pequeño país del norte de Europa? Porque este otro “paisito”, mucho más reducido en superficie y con menos de la mitad de la población uruguaya, juega en otra liga cuando de Estado digital hablamos. A esta política le llaman e-Estonia. Se presenta como un país sin burocracia, con todos los trámites del Estado digitalizados; el último de ellos, el divorcio. Allí enseñan a programar en las escuelas, desde niños, y el sistema educativo rankea en las pruebas PISA como el mejor de Occidente. Alló ofrecen residencia electrónica a personas que viven fuera del país, en lo que consideran un paso hacia un país sin fronteras. Hasta en la salud tienen ventajas: por ejemplo, los médicos de una ambulancia pueden acceder inmediatamente a través de una app a la historia clínica de un paciente. En el aspecto empresarial, se fomentó un ecosistema de startups que pone a Estonia hoy como número 1 mundial en cantidad per cápita de compañías tecnológicas y “unicornios” (o sea, las empresas valoradas en la bolsa en más de mil millones de dólares). Incluso, promocionan su pequeño tamaño como una ventaja para atraer inversores extranjeros: “Ser chicos es nuestro superpoder”, dicen los estonios al vender su mercado como un lugar donde probar y mejorar herramientas antes de usarlas para dar el gran salto. ¿Qué puede aprender Uruguay de la experiencia de Estonia? Emma Olivera se graduó de la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago (UIC) con dos títulos de licenciatura: Ciencias (Ciencias Biológicas) y Artes (Estudios Latinoamericanos). Completó su educación en la escuela de medicina en la Facultada de Medicina de la UIC, campus Rockford. Ha centrado gran parte de sus actividades en ayudar a la comunidad médicamente desatendida al asumir varios roles de liderazgo dentro de organizaciones nacionales como la Asociación Latina de Estudiantes de Medicina, la Asociación Médica Nacional Hispana y la Academia Americana de Pediatría. La Dra. Olivera complete la residencia pediátrica en el Children's Hospital Michigan (Universidad Estatal de Wayne) en Detroit, Michigan. Actualmente trabaja como pediatra en los suburbios de Chicago, Illinois y es profesora clínica asistente en la Facultad de Medicina de la UIC. Antes de la pandemia, participó en Healing the Children, viaje misionero médico y quirúrgico del noreste en Bolivia para niños con labio y paladar hendido. Actualmente es becaria de liderazgo de la Asociación Médica Nacional Hispana. Desde el inicio de la pandemia, es líder en múltiples coaliciones nacionales que trabajan para elevar las voces de los héroes de atención médica para combatir la desinformación sobre salud y las vacunas. El 3 de diciembre de 1864 se iniciaba en el litoral de nuestro país el sitio de Paysandú. Alrededor de 15 mil soldados, entre ellos parte del ejército brasileño, fueron rodeando la ciudad. Los lideraba el caudillo colorado Venancio Flores, con el respaldo del presidente argentino Bartolomé Mitre y el Imperio de Brasil. De este lado, la resistencia era encabezada por el caudillo blanco Leandro Gómez, que disponía de apenas mil soldados y el apoyo del presidente Bernardo Berro. Finalmente, en el año nuevo la ciudad cayó. Pero al mismo tiempo nació la leyenda sobre la “heroica defensa” llevada adelante por los sanduceros, una seña de identidad que desde entonces define a Paysandú. A 160 años de los hechos, la semana pasada comenzó la pre-producción de la película No robarás las botas de los muertos, que se propone recrear aquel acontecimiento trágico y emblemático, basándose en la novela del mismo título que Mario Delgado Aparaín publicó en 2002. Por su temática, un episodio de guerra instalado en el pasado, se trata de un proyecto especialmente complejo, que requiere un presupuesto sin precedentes en Uruguay y por eso de algún modo marcará un antes y un después en el sector audiovisual de nuestro país. ¿Por qué es importante reconstruir en la pantalla grande aquel episodio de nuestra historia? ¿Qué desafíos enfrenta esta producción? Marissa experienced intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) with her first pregnancy. That, along with some early signs of labor made for a hospital birth that included a lot of intervention and fear. El PIT CNT organizó ayer un acto en respaldo a la Federación Nacional de Profesores de Educación Secundaria (Fenapes), que culminaba este miércoles un paro de 48 horas. La jornada de movilización, convocada bajo la consigna “Contra el Modelo de la Desigualdad” y por los “Cambios Necesarios”, incluyó una marcha que partió de la explanada de la Intendencia de Montevideo y culminó con una concentración en la esquina de 18 de julio y Andes. El orador central fue Enrique Méndez, responsable de la Secretaría de Organización del PIT-CNT y dirigente nacional de la Federación de Trabajadores de la Industria Láctea. El dirigente se solidarizó con los trabajadores que están en conflicto en las empresas Copsa, Calcar, Lactalis y Balsa y Asociados. Y pidió a los próximos gobiernos que “obliguen” a las empresas a “cumplir con sus obligaciones laborales” antes de recibir “subsidios y beneficios del Estado”. En su discurso, Méndez aseguró que en tiempos electorales “algunos sectores muy pudientes del país, reflejados en algunos sectores de la coalición al frente del gobierno, no hablan de los más de 550.000 uruguayos que la pasan muy duro, ganando apenas 25.000 pesos y menos”. Además dijo que esos sectores tampoco hablan “de los más de 300.000 uruguayos que viven y sufren la informalidad en nuestro país”. En cambio, exclamó, “hablan de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas”. “Desarrollan una campaña sin ideas, sin pasión, que no ayuda absolutamente en las verdaderas necesidades de la gente. No hablan expresamente de cómo llenar la olla ni brindan soluciones para saber cómo los sectores trabajadores, jubilados y pensionistas pagarán el almacén a fin de mes. Esta campaña está hablando de frivolidades, de cuestiones que son hasta bobadas”. Méndez agregó que el gobierno “no habla de la pobreza infantil” porque a sus integrantes “les da verguenza”. Sostuvo que Uruguay “es uno de los pocos países de América Latina que tienen sus indicadores de pobreza en peores parámetros que antes de la pandemia” y aseguró que esos indicadores no mejoran porque durante tres años se recortó salario y jubilaciones. Méndez dijo que “cuesta que los números cambien en nuestro país porque hubo una política aplicada que aumentó el proceso de la desigualdad. El promedio de los ingresos de los hogares más ricos capturó el mayor crecimiento, mientras que los hogares más pobres lo terminaron perdiendo”, agregó. Además, denunció que se perdió “calidad de empleo” ya que hay “cada vez más ocupados sin horarios de trabajo”, “cada vez con jornadas más largas de trabajo”. Por su lado, Nathalie Barbé, representante de la Asociación de Trabajadores de la Seguridad Social (ATSS), defendió la reforma constitucional que impulsa el PIT CNT para cambiar el régimen de jubilaciones y pensiones. Barbé denunció una “campaña del miedo” de parte del oficialismo. “Estamos escuchando a estos iluminados, que ganan más de 500.000 pesos por mes, decirnos que aumentarles el ingreso a nuestros jubilados que están pasando hambre va a fundir el país”, agregó. Por su lado, el vicepresidente de Fenapes, José Olivera, llamó a militar en contra del plebiscito contra los allanamientos nocturnos. Olivera dijo que si se quiere combatir la delincuencia “hay que cerrar las asociaciones para delinquir en la Torre Ejecutiva, no hay que darles más pasaportes exprés a los narcotraficantes”. El paro de Fenapes se realizó contra la “transformación educativa” , el “recorte presupuestal” y la “reducción de grupos” en Secundaria.
