In this episode of the show, Baldy and Stu look back at Day 12 of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup, which featured three games: India v Netherlands, Pakistan v Namibia and South Africa v UAE. We start the show by discussing the tournament favourites, India, and their final pool match against the Netherlands. Abhishek Sharma fell early again, but starts from the rest of the top order were iced by a big contribution from Shivam Dube, who continues to be an unsung hero for India. The Netherlands batters played some quality shots during the chase, but it was Varun Chakravarthy who starred for India with the ball and helped seal a 12th consecutive T20 World Cup victory. The second game of the day saw Pakistan taking on Namibia in Colombo, with Super 8 qualification on the line. But there was barely a nervous moment as a Sahibzada Farhan hundred powered Pakistan close to 200, and then the spinners took charge with the ball - Shadab Khan and Usman Tariq in particular among the wickets. South Africa made four changes to their side, but still finished off their pool play with a comfortable win against the UAE. Corbin Bosch and George Linde were in the wickets as the Proteas put the squeeze on - bowling 53 dot balls across the innings as the UAE reached 122-6. That score was never going to be enough, and South Africa eased to the total without too much trouble. To round out the show, the boys look ahead to Day 13, which sees the West Indies v Italy, Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe and Afghanistan & Canada finish up their 2026 T20 World Cup journey. There's also a brief recap of the Super 8 qualifiers as the next phase is nearly here. We'll be back in your feed again tomorrow with the next instalment of our T20 World Cup coverage. In this episode of the show, Baldy and Stu look back at Day 6 of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup, which featured three games: Sri Lanka v Oman, Nepal v Italy and India v Namibia. We start the show by discussing India's cruise to victory against Namibia, which saw the return of Jasprit Bumrah and another masterclass from Varun Chakravarthy. There were runs from Ishan Kishan at the top, and a bit of a stutter at the death, mixed in with some nice bowling from Gerhard Erasmus and Bernard Scholtz, as India got the job done before their big clash with Pakistan over the weekend. In the second match of the day, it was the Azzurri of Italy who shone bright, powering to a 10-wicket win against a Nepal side fresh off pushing England so close in their opening game of the tournament. Kalugamage's three wickets led the Italian spinners, before the Mosca brothers made short work of Nepal's 124-run target. Sri Lanka began the day with a comprehensive victory over Oman, who have found it hard work in this tournament so far. Fast fifties for Pavan Rathnayake, Kusal Mendis & a record-breaking half-century for Dasun Shanaka took the home side to 225, which they defended with ease. To round out the show, the boys look ahead to Day 7, which sees Zimbabwe face Australia in Group B, Canada v UAE and a key game for the Netherlands against the USA to keep the pressure on India and Pakistan in Group A. We'll be back in your feed again tomorrow with the next instalment of our T20 World Cup coverage. SaaStr 841: Going From Blobs to Billions. Clay's Co-Founder Breaks Down Inbound, Outbound, and AI-Powered Sales. Clay's Co-Founder Varun Anand takes the stage at SaaStr to break down how the company went from paying for claymation blobs before generating any revenue to powering growth workflows for companies like Cursor, Anthropic, and Figma. He explains why brand has always been core to Clay's identity, how their CFO roast videos and creative campaigns are actually capturing mindshare in a world where B2B marketing is painfully boring, and why he pushes back on the "use AI for everything" mentality that's taken over the industry. Varun does a full live demo building an inbound qualification workflow from scratch using real audience volunteers, walking through everything from lead enrichment and waterfall data sourcing to AI-powered scoring, personalized meme generation, research brief creation, and CRM updates. He also brings audience members on stage to do live growth hacking for their actual business problems. Beyond the product, this session goes deep on hiring. Varun shares the origin story of the GTM Engineer role, how it went from an internal job title for Clay's non-traditional sales team to the most in-demand position in B2B SaaS, and what he actually looks for when evaluating candidates (hint: it's creativity, not a traditional sales background). He talks about Clay's take-home process, work trials, why they hire generalists who commit to specific roles, and the surprising backgrounds of some of their best hires. Whether you're building out your go-to-market motion, thinking about how to use AI without losing what makes your brand unique, or just trying to figure out what a GTM Engineer actually does, this session covers it all. --------------------- This episode is Sponsored in part by HappyFox: Imagine having AI agents for every support task — one that triages tickets, another that catches duplicates, one that spots churn risks. Varun Sivaram is Founder and CEO of Emerald AI, a company building software that makes AI data centers power flexible. As AI data centers become one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity demand, grid constraints are emerging as a critical bottleneck for compute deployment. In this episode, the conversation focuses on why power availability — not GPUs — is increasingly the limiting factor for AI. Data centers concentrate massive electrical loads in specific locations, creating grid stress, long interconnection delays, and rising electricity costs for surrounding communities. Traditional grid expansion alone is too slow to meet near-term AI demand.Emerald AI's response is to treat AI data centers as flexible loads rather than fixed ones. Its software coordinates compute with grid conditions by shifting workloads across time, geography, and on-site energy resources like batteries. The episode walks through real-world demonstrations, including a published field trial showing a 25% power reduction during grid stress without breaking compute performance. The discussion frames flexible load as one of the fastest ways to unlock power for AI while improving grid stability.Episode recorded on Feb 2, 2026 (Published on Feb 10, 2026)In this episode, we cover:(0:00) Intro(1:36) What Emerald AI is and how it works(6:41) Varun's background and why he founded Emerald(10:59) Emerald's software for power-flexible data centers(19:04) The three types of flexibility: temporal, spatial, and resource(23:29) How much control customers give Emerald(28:20) Coordinating compute with on-site energy like batteries(31:27) Off-grid vs. grid-connected data centers(35:39) Why exiting the grid creates political and systemic risk(37:12) Emerald AI's open rolesLinks:Varun Sivaram on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/varunsivaramEmerald AI: https://www.emeraldai.co/AI data centers as grid-interactive assets paper Enjoyed this episode? This week at ease, we are back for our first guest of season two, Dr. Varun Soni! Dr. Soni joins the table for a soft, expansive conversation on what it means to find your North Star, even if you don't believe in one. As a chaplain, scholar, and spiritual advisor, Varun helps us unpack what we're really searching for when we say we feel lost. Together, we explore the quiet inner compass that lives beneath fear, anxiety, and doubt. From gut feelings to intuition, ego to inner knowing, this episode is for the seekers, skeptics, spiritual girls, and anyone trying to feel a little more grounded in their 20s. Varun shares how spirituality isn't about having all the answers but instead learning to listen for the right questions. We talk about the loneliness of early adulthood, the difference between wisdom and noise, and how to find meaning in the small, unglamorous moments. It's not about finding something to believe in, it's about learning to trust what already lives within you. Enjoy! AI isn't quietly changing software development… it's rewriting the rules while most security programs are still playing defense. When agents write code at machine speed, the real risk isn't velocity, it's invisible security debt compounding faster than teams can see it. In this episode, Ron Eddings sits down with Varun Badhwar, Co-Founder & CEO of Endor Labs, and Henrik Plate, Principal Security Researcher of Endor Labs, to break down how AI-assisted development is reshaping the software supply chain in real time. From MCP servers exploding across GitHub to agents trained on insecure code patterns, they analyze why traditional AppSec controls fail in an agent-driven world and what must replace them. This conversation pulls directly from Endor Labs' 2025 State of Dependency Management Report, revealing why most AI-generated code is functionally correct yet fundamentally unsafe, how malicious packages are already exploiting agent workflows, and why security has to exist inside the IDE, not after the pull request. Varun Puri, CEO and cofounder of Yoodli, joins the show to talk about using AI role play to transform how people practice for high stakes conversations, from sales calls to job interviews to tough manager chats. He breaks down how Yoodli went from a consumer public speaking tool to a serious enterprise platform used by teams at Google, Snowflake, Databricks, and more, all while staying anchored in one mission, helping humans communicate with confidence. We dig into product led growth, honest feedback loops, and why real human communication will matter even more as AI makes information instant.Key takeaways• Why Yoodli started with public speaking anxiety and grew into an AI role play simulator for any important conversation, not just conference talks or pitch decks• How watching real user behavior inside companies like Google pulled the team into enterprise without abandoning their consumer product• A simple approach to product feedback, talk to end users constantly, then prioritize changes by business impact, renewal risk, and how many people benefit• What it really takes to move from consumer to enterprise, new roles, new processes, and a very different mindset around reliability, security, and expectations• Why Varun draws clear ethical lines, using AI to coach and prepare people, not to replace human judgment in hiring, promotion, or high trust decisionsTimestamped highlights[00:35] What Yoodli actually does today, from solo practice to training sales and go to market teams inside large enterprises[01:43] The original vision, helping people who are scared of public speaking, and the insight that interviews, sales calls, and manager talks are all just role plays[03:37] How the team listens to end users, the channels they rely on, and why the consumer product is still their testing ground for new ideas and experiments[05:20] Following users into the enterprise, why it was an addition and not a full pivot, and how product led growth inside companies like Google works in practice[07:42] The early shock of selling to enterprises, learning about new roles, SLAs, InfoSec, and bringing in leaders from Tableau and Salesforce to build a real B2B engine[11:10] Two paths for AI in sales, tools that try to replace humans versus tools that make humans better, and why Varun has drawn a hard line on what Yoodli will not do[15:26] A future where information is commoditized and instant, and why communication and presence become the real edge for top performers in that world[20:48] Designing for trust and adoption, how Yoodli keeps practice private by default, when data is shared, and why control has to sit with the end userA line worth saving“In a world where AI makes everyone smarter and faster, the thing that will be at the biggest premium is how you communicate as a human with other humans.”Practical ideas you can use• Keep a consumer like surface in your product so you can experiment faster than your enterprise roadmap would ever allow• Treat feedback from large customers like a queue you rank by renewal risk, strategic value, and number of users helped, not as a list you must clear• Look for product led growth signals inside your user base, if thousands of people in one company are using you, someone there probably wants a team level solution• Draw explicit boundaries for your AI product, write down what you will not automate, so you can build trust with users and buyers over the long termCall to actionIf you care about the future of sales, interviewing, and communication in an AI rich world, this conversation is worth a listen. Follow the show, leave a quick rating, and share this episode with a founder, product leader, or sales leader who is thinking about AI in their workflow. And if you want feedback on your own speaking, check out what Varun and his team are building at Yoodli.
We know we're late to the party, but we had to talk about Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" and all of the discourse surrounding it, or at least try to.Dhruv is joined by (much to his dismay) Varun and his "crime-in-partner" Cris in this endeavour as they tackle one wonder after another (sorry, the title is just unendingly pun-able) that the filmmaking presents, as well as some reservations they have with it. They also try (and mostly succeed at) not being too condescending as they discuss the online buzz around the film since its wide release. Dr. Jeanne De Lavallaz and Dr. Ramy Doss discuss the results of the TRANSFORM-AF Trial with expert faculty Dr. Sanjeev Saksena and Dr. Varun Sundaram. The TRANSFORM-AF trial enrolled 2,510 patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), type 2 diabetes, and obesity across 170 Veterans Affairs hospitals to evaluate the impact of diabetes-dose GLP-1 receptor agonists on AF-related outcomes. Participants were assigned to receive either a GLP-1 receptor agonist, a DPP-IV inhibitor, or a sulfonylurea. The primary composite outcome included AF-related hospitalizations, cardioversions, ablation procedures, and all-cause mortality. Over a median follow-up of 3.2 years, GLP-1 use was associated with a 13% reduction in major AF-related events compared to other therapies. The study population was predominantly male, with a high prevalence of severe obesity (BMI >40 kg/m²) in whom the benefit appeared most pronounced. Notably, the observed benefit occurred despite only modest additional weight loss, suggesting potential non-weight-mediated effects of GLP-1 therapy This episode was planned in collaboration with Heart Rhythm TV with mentorship from Dr. Daniel Alyesh and Dr. Mehak Dhande. AI is adding to US electricity consumption at a pace not seen in decades. That demand growth is creating new strains on the grid in many parts of the country. But what if AI could instead help keep the system running? Varun Sivaram is a founder & CEO of Emerald AI and a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He says that far from undermining the grid, AI could actually save it. If we can enable AI data centers to provide flexibility during times peak stress, they can become a powerful ally for reliable, affordable, and clean electricity.Earlier this year, the Energy Gang hosted a conversation with Tyler Norris of Duke University, author of an influential paper assessing the potential for large flexible loads in the US electricity system. He argued that if grid operators could ask data centers to dial back the power consumption when the system is under strain, those new facilities could get online faster without waiting for long transmission and generation upgrades. In effect, flexibility is like a fast-track pass: by allowing short reductions in consumption during peak stress, the grid can handle more demand and data centers can connect sooner. That's the theory. In this show we talk about how to make it a reality. To explain how data center flexibility works, and will work in the future, Varun joins host Ed Crooks, regular guest Amy Myers Jaffe, Director of NYU's Energy, Climate Justice and Sustainability Lab, and resident investment expert Shanu Mathew, Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst at Lazard Asset Management. How can data center developers, operators and customers create flexible loads? Spread computing tasks across multiple sites, pause the less time-critical ones during grid stress, and use smarter software and batteries to smooth short spikes. The gang discuss early real-world tests with utilities and tech companies, and why some regions are considering rules that let them temporarily reduce power to big users rather than risk neighborhood blackouts. Is this all hype? Some of the claims being made are running ahead of what is actually being achieved in the industry today. And even as chips get more efficient, demand for AI is growing even faster. But Varun wants to run more pilots, reward flexibility with quicker hookups, and build toward a “virtual power plant” made of data centers that can respond in milliseconds. If the irresistible force of AI development is to overcome the immovable object of power grid capacity, that is the kind of innovation that is going to be needed.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
