In this part, Swamiji narrates the sacred dialogue between Shukadev Ji and King Parikshit, who had been cursed to die in seven days. Calmly renouncing his kingdom, Parikshit sat by the Ganga and asked the sages: “What is the true welfare for a man at the time of death?” Shukadev Ji, the liberated son of Ved Vyas, arrived and explained that fear of death arises from attachment. By cultivating detachment, one becomes fearless. He urged Parikshit to use his remaining days to engage in three practices: hearing, chanting, and remembering the names, forms, virtues, and pastimes of Shree Krishna. To guide him, Shukadev Ji taught two meditations: Virat meditation — seeing the entire universe as the cosmic form of God, which dissolves attachment and lamentation. Roop meditation — focusing on the sweet personal form of Shree Krishna, which increases love and devotion. Swamiji emphasizes that this dialogue is the very origin of the Srimad Bhagavatam. It shows that the supreme welfare at life's end is not rituals or worldly concerns, but Bhakti — loving remembrance of God. About Swami Mukundananda: Swami Mukundananda is a renowned spiritual leader, Vedic scholar, Bhakti saint, best‑selling author, and an international authority on the subject of mind management. He is the founder of the unique yogic system called JKYog. Swamiji holds distinguished degrees in Engineering and Management from IIT and IIM. Having taken the renounced order of life (sanyas), he is the senior disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj, and has been sharing Vedic wisdom across the globe for decades.

Even experienced investors make mistakes. Not because they don't know enough… but because money has a way of triggering very human decisions. In this episode of Moneywise, Virat and Rachita break down the 10 most common investing mistakes that almost everyone falls for, from beginners starting out to long-term investors who think they've seen it all. These are the small slip-ups that can quietly derail your long-term investing journey. In this episode, we cover:• Beginner investing mistakes that most people repeat• The “I'll time the market” trap• Overreacting to short-term noise• Chasing hype instead of having a plan• Ignoring diversification and risk• Common investing mistakes to avoid even after years of experienceChapters:00:00 Intro01:40 Chasing Top Performers02:20 Panic Selling02:29 Too Many Funds03:23 Relying on Forwards04:00 Checking Portfolio Everyday04:43 Not Setting Goals05:00 Timing the Market05:29 No Emergency Fund06:00 Tax Considerations07:54 RecapWhether you're new to investing or already investing through mutual funds, this episode is a reminder that investing is less about being perfect… and more about avoiding the obvious errors.Watch till the end and see how many of these mistakes you've caught yourself making. This content is for educational purposes only and should not be construed as investment advice.Mutual Fund investments are subject to market risks, read all scheme related documents carefully.
Your mutual fund has a chef and no, it's not random. When you invest in a mutual fund, you're not just buying a basket of stocks. You're handing your money to someone who decides what goes in, what stays out, and when the recipe needs a change. That someone is the fund manager. In this episode of Moneywise, Virat and Rachita break down who a fund manager really is using a simple kitchen analogy. Think of the fund manager as the chef, the market as the pantry, and your portfolio as the final dish. Just like a chef follows a process rather than cooking randomly, fund managers follow defined research and risk frameworks while selecting stocks.
Mutual fund tax is one of the most misunderstood parts of investing, and many investors realise it only after booking profits. In Moneywise Season 2 Episode 22, Virat and Rachita explain tax on mutual funds in India in simple language, helping you understand how mutual fund taxation actually works. In this episode, you'll learn: • How mutual fund capital gains tax applies to equity mutual funds • The difference between short-term and long-term capital gains tax on mutual funds • Why the 1-year holding period matters for equity mutual fund tax • How debt mutual fund taxation rules changed after April 2023 • What tax-loss harvesting in mutual funds means and when it can reduce tax • Why tax should be a factor, not the deciding factor, in investment decisionsIf you've searched for mutual fund tax explained, tax on mutual funds, long-term vs short-term capital gains, or how mutual fund tax works in India, this episode breaks it down clearly. This video is for investor education only. Early Tuesday January 13, 2026, multiple reports said four Greek-managed oil tankers had been hit by drones near Russia's key Black Sea loading point for Kazakh crude — the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal at Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka, near Novorossiysk. Ever wish investing came with a cheat code? Index funds pretty much are that cheat code, the “Ctrl+C Ctrl+V of the market,” as Virat calls it. And Rachita? She's already obsessed with this idea of legal copying. In this episode of Moneywise, we break down index funds for beginners in the simplest, funniest, and most no‑nonsense way possible. Whether you're a first‑time investor or someone still wondering “what is an index fund, exactly?”, this one clears the fog without boring jargon or scary charts.Chapters:00:00 Intro01:00 Long-term vs Short-term04:15 Real-World Examples07:27 How To Assess Funds10:14 Practical Advice12:32 Investment Mistakes to Avoid14:27 RecapIf you've been thinking of entering the market but want something simple, steady, and beginner‑friendly, this episode will help you connect the dots without promising any magic outcomes.

Silicon Bites Ep272 | News Update - Day 1,377 - 2025-12-01 | Two things went boom, but not in Crimea. Not Sevastopol. We're 30–40 nautical miles off Turkey's coast, in supposedly “safe” waters, watching two aging oil tankers from Russia's sanctions-busting shadow fleet burn in the dark. Beautiful, in a sinister kind of way. Ukraine does not deny it. Sea Baby naval drones. Precision hits. A deliberate punch to the Kremlin's oil lifeline. But a moral dilemma for Western states that are nominally pro-Ukraine but get squeamish when it treats this like the existential conflict that it is and takes actions it must. Ukraine embraces tough, challenging, dirty, and morally messy problems, and owns the decision and their impacts. The hypocritical and squeamish west labels this escalation. It's not, but our view on this reality exudes weakness and hypocrisy, as well as a shirking of duty. ----------SOURCES: Kyiv Independent – “‘Successful' Ukrainian naval drone strike disables 2 Russian shadow fleet tankers, source says” (Nov. 29, 2025)Kyiv Post – “SBU Drones Hit Sanctioned Oil Tankers Off Black Sea Coast” (Nov. 29, 2025)Reuters – “Ukrainian naval drones strike two Russian oil tankers in Black Sea” (Nov. 30, 2025)Associated Press – “Ukraine's Sea Baby drones hit Russian oil tankers in Black Sea off Turkish coast” & “Turkey condemns Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil tankers off Black Sea coast” (Nov. 29–30, 2025) RBC-Ukraine / UNN – coverage of Turkish Foreign Ministry and Transport Ministry reactions to the Kairos and Virat strikes Lloyd's List – Oleh Dunda & Ian Ralby, “Shadow ports: how cutting off Russia's access to maritime trade could help sanctions have real impact” (Nov. 27, 2025) gCaptain – “Two Sanctioned Tankers Catch Fire in Black Sea After Suspected Mine Strikes” (Nov. 28, 2025)Kyiv Post – analysis on Ukraine's campaign against Russian energy infrastructure and Zelensky's comments on striking energy facilitiesNaval News / H. Mientras uno pudo haber chocado con una mina flotante, la tripulación del segundo lanzó un SOS inequívoco: “¡Ataque de drones!”. In this episode of the show, Baldy, Binksy and Stu look back at the past two weeks, which saw NZ sweep England in an ODI series, Rohit & Virat roll back the years, Women's World Cup upsets & South Africa win a Test away in Pakistan. We start the show in New Zealand, where the Black Caps beat England 3-0 in the ODI series after a rain-affected false start to the international summer. There were plenty of positives for New Zealand - Daryl Mitchell, most of the bowlers and Mitchell Santner's bat, to name a few - as they chased down the visitors' modest totals on three separate occasions. We talk about Zak Foulkes's composure, Kane Williamson's retirement from T20 internationals and ask if there's anything to worry about from an England point of view. Next we head to Australia, where the home side has been playing white-ball cricket against India, but inevitably the conversation turns towards The Ashes. Has Marnus done enough? Would they actually leave out Beau Webster? And is Josh Hazlewood the first name on the Australian teamsheet? There's also praise for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's unbeaten partnership in the 3rd ODI, which could well be the last time the two of them stride to the middle on Australian soil. Then it's off to the Women's World Cup, where we saw India end Australia's incredible run and South Africa reverse their opening-match loss to England on their way to the final. Batting was in the spotlight once again in our discussion of this tournament, with the hundred from Jemimah Rodrigues taking top billing. To round out the show, there's a brief shout-out to the South African men's side for defeating Pakistan in the second Test of their series, thanks in no small way to Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer as the latter brought up his 1000th first-class wicket during the match. Cheteshwar Pujara retired two years after playing his last Test. R Ashwin bowed out midway through a Test series in Australia. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirements from Test cricket during the IPL season. Yet, none of them were accorded a farewell.Overseas stars such as David Warner and James Anderson were able to choose their stage and script emotional farewell matches. Why can't Indian greats enjoy the same privilege? Is this down to the BCCI's inability to communicate better with its senior players? Pujara's retirement also raises a crucial question: Is there still space for Test specialists in modern-day cricket? In the latest episode of the Sledging Room podcast, Akshay Ramesh, Kingshuk Kusari and Saurabh Kumar debate whether India's modern-day greats have been short-changed in retirements. Tune in!
In their first conversation Nadine and Virat speak about two films which are pilgrimages of a sort. Kasimir Burgess' Iron Winter, a documentary that takes the viewer into a land rarely seen — that of the nomadic Mongolian horse herders. An immersive and intimate piece of cinema which invites people to see a dying ancient tradition undertaken on the Mongolian Steppes during a five month journey herding horses to viable snow covered pastures. Transcendentally lensed by Benjamin Bryan Iron Winter is almost elegiac. The ravages of the climate crisis are making extreme conditions significantly more brutal and two young herders have to come to terms not only with the elements but also their futures.Romería by Carla Simón translates to Pilgramage in English. An autobiographical fiction about Simón's parents and the quest for an orphaned 18 year old woman to find remnants and memories about her father and his family in Vigo, Galicia. Simón's avatar Marina (Llúcia Garcia) needs documentation for a university scholarship to study film in 2004, but whether she can convince her father's patrician and evasive parents to accept her as Fon's daughter is complicated by the way he died and their shame. With her mother's diary from 1984 through to 1986 guiding her she imagines their lives as young lovers, but it is a bittersweet imagining as Fon's family obfuscate truths and misremember because his life has been erased. Again, a film that is spectacularly lensed by Hélène Louvart capturing Vigo and its islands. Will Marina be claimed or rejected? Will she find vestiges of her parents? Will she be able to prove she is more than a reminder of the hidden ghosts of the past?Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky @thecurbau. The biggest stars of the post-Dhoni era call time on their India Test careers. Nitin, Tony, Chops, PDP and Bisi gather to discuss what may have happened behind the scenes. We rightly conclude that Donald Trump is responsible for their retirements. We also spend about 100 minutes on the legacy of Virat, and 2 minutes on Rohit. Funnily, in an episode about Kohli and Rohit, the jokes are still about Ashwin.
In this episode of the show, Binksy, Jamie, Baldy and Stu discuss an eventful week, which saw the return of the IPL but not all its players, the Test cricket retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, squad news galore and some potential candidates emerge for the Black Caps coaching role. We start by talking about the IPL's resumption and the players such as Jos Buttler and Mitchell Starc who have decided not to return or will need to depart for the playoff stages as the international calendar fills up again. Does previous form go out the window? And how will teams manage the disruption? Next we discuss the Test Cricket retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Was it the right time? What legacy have they left? How will they be remembered? Who will replace them? And does their departure put Test cricket in danger? We round out the show by bouncing around a couple of upcoming Test matches - England's first match of the summer, against Zimbabwe, and the World Test Championship Final between Australia and South Africa - as well as the latest reports emerging about the Black Caps' coaching search. We'll be back in your feed next week with more cricket news as the IPL playoff picture takes shape and England take on Zimbabwe.
