Este mes nuestro club de lectura de comics se va primero para Bélgica, pero después para el viejo oeste estadounidense. Leímos Lucky Luke: Sobre la Pista de los Dalton, publicado en 1960 por capítulos, y recopilado en libro en 1962. Grok says: “Listen up, you sorry bunch of candy-ass civilians and weekend warriors! This just in from the Unrelenting war room. Darren and Gene are locked and loaded on Unrelenting 0189, ripping the lid off the bullshit machine like a thermite charge on a locked hatch. They expose how the Southern Poverty Law Center is straight-up paying hate groups, including the KKK, to keep the grift alive, rip apart the paid opposition operators like Megan Kelly and Tucker Carlson who flip faster than a Tijuana hooker on election night, and unload on the asymmetric warfare where the left plays hockey while conservatives are still calling fair play in a rigged football game. They shred Podcasting 2.0's Satoshi streaming disaster, laugh their asses off at retro TV spandex (Buck Rogers over Battlestar any day), roast brain-rotting short-form dopamine hits, and drop red pills on why Democrats won't vote because they're stupid while pushing hardcore voting reform that would make the Founding Fathers proud. Plus live kebab extraction, AI close air support, and enough unfiltered truth to make your average legacy media anchor shit his pants. If you've got the balls to handle real talk with zero safe spaces, zero apologies, and maximum unrelenting firepower, then stop what you're doing and listen to Unrelenting right now. Darren and Gene don't just speak truth to power — they waterboard the bastards with it. Download it, stream it, share it with your platoon. This ain't background noise, this is combat audio.

A few days ago, we lost Gil Gerard—forever Buck Rogers in the 25th Century to a generation of kids who grew up in the late 70's believing the future was sleek ships, sharp one-liners, and heroes who always found a way...oh yeah and some absolutely beautiful woman. For Shawn, Buck Rogers wasn't just a show. It was a piece of his childhood. It was imagination, escapism, and optimism wrapped into a weekly ritual. Years later, that love became something more when Shawn and Shiff took it live on The Place to Be Pop Feed back in 2021–2022 when Battlestar in the 25th Century Podcast began. What started as Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century watch-alongs turned into a journey—one where Shawn got to share the shows that shaped him with someone who had never experienced them. The goal was simple: pass along the joy, the absurdity, the heart, and the fun of the sci-fi that made Shawn who he was. And then came what would become the final episode of the pod. A one-off. A curveball. A deep dive into Gil Gerard's personal journey, including his decision to undergo gastric bypass surgery. It is still talked about in Backbone circles as the first and only podcast that truly broke Shiff. Laughter, disbelief, humanity—it had all of it. And fittingly, it centered on the man who meant so much to us in the first place. Gil Gerard wasn't just a TV hero. He was human. Complicated. Honest. And willing to share his story in a way that connected with people far beyond the world of New Chicago. So this is a tribute—to Gil Gerard. To Buck Rogers. To childhood wonder. To shared fandom. And to the unexpected moments that stay with us long after the microphones are turned off. Rest easy, Buck. The future you helped us dream about is still flying. ***Original Write Up of the Pod from March 12, 2022*** On “very special” Episode 26 of Battlestar in the 25th Century, Shawn and Scott pause on a regular episode watch and go down the You Tube rabbit hole to watch Buck Rogers star Gil Gerard in “Gil Gerard Action Hero Makeover Video Mini-Gastric Bypass”. Gil, now at 350 pounds shares his journey to Gastric Bypass surgery taking on a larger fight than the Draconians, his health! Guest stars galore, including Bill Clinton and some Buck Rogers favorites!
Hi everyone, happy Tuesday! You didn't think I could keep Michael Trucco away for long, did you? The last time I had Michael on the show, it was audio-only, so if you've been dying to see his beautiful face, today's your lucky day! I first met Michael on Battlestar where he played Samuel T. Anders, but we have stayed close over the years. As an actor, he has been on a role recently— you may have seen him as Sean Del Monte in The Rookie, Luke Leone on Fire Country, or in one of Mike Flanagan's recent projects, from Life of Chuck, to Fall of the House of Usher, to Midnight Mass. Why is Michael Trucco in all of these amazing projects, and many many more? Because he's the BEST and literally everyone wants to work with him! We have so much fun catching up in this episode. We swap Battlestar stories, we talk about how he stays positive through the ups and downs of a long career, and we even get into some questions from you, the audience. Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I can't believe it's taken this long, but this week I am finally talking to my friend and Battlestar legend James Callis! On Battlestar, James played Dr. Gaius Baltar. He is also known for playing best friend Tom in the Bridget Jones' Diary movies, as well as appearances in Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys, Arrow and most recently as Claude Whelan in Slow Horses. James was an intimidating person for me to interview — he's so smart about acting (and about everything else) and he plays a really good bad guy— but in this conversation, you get to see his goofy side and his tender side too. James is an incredible dad and I loved getting to talk to him about how fatherhood helps him keep the nonsense of life on set in perspective. He has also worked with some of the greatest actors of all time and we discuss what traits Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif all have in common. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation and I'm so happy I got to see James in person! Enjoy the episode and check out our Patreon for an extended hindsight where my producer Jeph and I discuss James and all things Battlestar in more detail.
