At the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Davidoff made a notable return, and one brand that stood out with a fresh look was Zino. Davidoff had not participated in the PCA (formerly IPCPR) Trade Show since 2019. For many years, the company's primary focus has been on its flagship brands: Davidoff, AVO, and Camacho. Although Zino has always been included in Davidoff's exhibits, it was generally considered a secondary brand. However, this year, Zino took its place alongside the other three major brands, and the difference was quite noticeable. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-w80

This was the seventh Premium Cigar Association (PCA)/IPCPR Trade Show For Jochy Blanco's La Galera line. Blanco first came to the IPCPR Trade Show back in 2016 when he would launch his own premium cigar brand, La Galera Cigars. Since then, La Galera has been at every Trade Show the PCA/IPCPR has covered. At the 2023 PCA Show, there wasn't anything from La Galera in terms of new product lines or line extensions. Most of the changes involved samplers and a revamping of the packaging for the La Galera Connecticut. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-qje

On August 15 2010, Will Cooper went to his first IPCPR Trade Show as a buyer. After an adventure getting an Iced Coffee in the heat of New Orleans, he decided to chronicle his tales of his visit to the Trade Show and Cigar Coop was born. Along the way, he met some interesting characters and one of them was a newcomer to the cigar industry named Matt Booth. Over the years, Matt and Coop have developed a friendship akin to the Odd Couple -at the same time that friendship expanded to the rest of the team. Tonight, we welcome Matt Booth to this anniversary show. All I can say is put on your seat belts for this one. Bear and Coop will reflect on the last 13 years as well. Plus we have our U.S. History segment, Tabacalera USA Great Things are Happening Here, and Espinosa This Day in Sports History segments. At an FDA Seminar at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show, a relatively unknown new brand had its debut cigar launched. That brand was Fratello Cigars, owned by Omar de Frias who worked for NASA. Following the Trade Show, Omar would take a grassroots approach to introduce his cigars to the market that he called "Fratello Road." Fast forward to 2023, and this year Omar and Fratello are celebrating ten years in the cigar business. Our visit to the Fratello booth included a lot of reminiscing over Fratello's decade in the cigar business. In addition, there were a couple of new releases. The first was Fratello - The Lunar, which is being released in conjunction with the upcoming Nova-C Lunar Landing project. In addition, the Fratello Sorella, a line that hasn't had a full U.S. launch, will now see one. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-qgf

Looking back several years ago, it was not unusual for Rocky Patel Premium Cigars to release seven or more new lines at the IPCPR Trade Show. These numbers have been streamlined over the past couple of years. This year the company introduced two new lines at the Trade Show. Leading the pack would be The Edge 20th Anniversary – a line that had been promoted prior to the PCA 2022. The second, with details kept under wraps, is the Rocky Patel DBS. At the same time, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars has been on a roll – delivering some high quality products. This resulted in a #1 Cigar of the Year from Cigar Coop in 2021 with the Rocky Patel Winter Collection; and a Prime Time Award for Best Large-sized company. We would have the opportunity to present owner Rocky Patel these awards at PCA 2022. PCA 2022 Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-nn1

At the 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Selected Tobacco unveiled its biggest portfolio expansion since the brand first appeared at the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show in Orlando, FL. There are two new brands, several new lines, and some ultra-premium humidor offerings. The brands of Selected Tobacco are ultra-premium luxury brands. Selected Tobacco had a booth worth of being the home for such brands at the PCA Trade Show. Some called it a museum or an ultra-premium showroom. One can also make the argument that it was a combination of both. If you missed the Selected Tobacco booth and the products showcased in it, you truly missed something special at the Trade Show. For as long as I have been coming to the Premium Cigar Association (and its predecessor IPCPR Trade Show), Kristoff Cigars has been a staple at the Trade Show. Some years are busier years than others in terms of new product, but each and every year Kristoff is one of the booths I look forward to visiting. 2022 was a year where it certainly was one of the busier ones - in terms of both traffic (hey, we photobombed our friends at HBTC in the booth shot) and new products. This year the new products had both a personal and business touch. There was a new regular production line, a PCA Exclusive line, and a line extension. At the same time, all three of these lines continue to showcase that Kristoff is very healthy when it comes to delivering innovative products. PCA 2022 Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-neQ

In this interview from our archives, we interview Charles Awad, who at the time was the Vice President of Marketing and Product Development. This interview took place at the 2017 IPCPR Trade Show. During the 2010s, Davidoff was in a period of growth an innovation like we had no other company was - and Charles was at the center of this strategy. We take a look this strategy and how it led to one of the most exciting periods in Davidoff history. Note: This an audio only interview, we recommend increasing the volume for this interview.

In this interview from our archives, we interview Nestor Andrés Plasencia at the 2017 IPCPR Trade Show. If there was “the story” at the 2017 IPCPR Trade Show, it was the launch of Plasencia Cigars. The Plasencias have over 150 years experience in the cigar business and truly are one of the iconic families in the industry's history. Now, after many years being growers and producers in the cigar business, the Plasencias last year have launched their own brand. It's not just a brand with their name on it. To bring this product to market, the Plasencias now have their own U.S. distribution company, Plasencia 1865, LLC. The 2017 IPCPR would prove to be a very special trade show as the Plasencias would be exhibitors for the first time showcasing their new products. Note: This an audio only interview.
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to James Brown at Oveja Negra Brands At the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Oveja Negra Brands returned with the same booth as it had for the 2019 IPCPR Trade Show. This was especially pleasing because I loved how this booth highlighted the unique nature of each of the four brands – and still puts them under one umbrella. The world has changed quite a bit since 2019, but Oveja Negra Brands still keeps to its “less is more” small batch philosophy, and it paid off dividends. Between Cigar Coop and El Oso Fumar, Oveja Negra Brands has collected quite a number of awards. Meanwhile, there was no shortage of new things to look forward to in 2021. One of three La Reloba releases, with the others being the Habano and the Mexico. Great value cigar. Viaje Holiday Blend - 5.25 X 54 Torpedo - Nicaraguan Criollo Wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder and Filler. Also available in a 4.25 X 54 Petite Robusto. Not as spicy as previous releases, but a satisfying medium-bodied smoke. Illusione Maduro 88 - 5 X 52 - San Andreas Maduro Wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder and Filler. My favorite of the Illusione line What else have you been smokin' Dale? Cain Daytona Robusto - 5” x 50 - Nicaragua puro with a good dose of smooth, flavorful ligero from Jalapa. Esencia Petite Corona - 5.12” x 42 - I can’t decide... the lancero or the petite corona continue to switch places as my favorite vitola in the Esencia line. Fortunately, the pc is available year round! Outstanding “old world” traditional flavors from great Nicaragua tobaccos - savory, spicy and with huge depth. Trinidad Coloniales - 130mm x 44 - This petite corona from Havana is finished with a beautiful wrapper & a pigtail cap. Very subtle and complex flavors, mostly floral with caramel sweetness. Light spice in the middle and more cedar in the last 3rd. Creamy medium bodied smoke with an aroma that invokes the old English library. What's My Band?- This week's unbanded, the AJ Fernandez Fresh Rolled, was provided by Jay Ledou. Palio Cutter Contest: The winner of the December Silver Palio cutter was Tim Banic. For January's contest, we are looking for photos of you and your friends enjoying cigars (all the better if they happen to be Esencias, but it will not affect your chances of winning). Send your entry to theshow@cigarmedia.tv. Please include your mailing address with your entry and type "Palio" on the subject line. Don't forget, you must re-enter the contest every month to be eligible to win. January's prize will be a silver Palio cutter. Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week? Bob then opens a sealed envelope and discovers the cigar’s name and manufacturer. If you have suggestions for the "What's My Band?" segment, please send them to liz@cigarmedia.tv. Do you have a Cigar Review? If you call and leave a cigar review on the herfline and it is played on the show, you will receive a DogWatch Cigar Radio patch!
