#270 - Decoding The Science Of Energy & Consciousness w/ Ana María Oliva

The first step in understanding the nature of our material world can be found in the ritualistic practices of indigenous people.  Native Americans would expose sand on a taught buckskin to rhythmic chants and drums, while the particles danced to a geometric still-point. Australian Aborigines produced similar effects with the didgeridoo, and Tibetan Buddhists did the same with their wind instrument known as the dungchen. Harmonic patterns (Cymatics) are the proving ground for what has eluded Western "Science" in its quest for answering the most basic of questions, "what makes the material universe tick"? The profundity underlying these simple & observable truths is that human consciousness produces resonant patterns with every thought, emotion & deed! We're excited to host Ana Maria Oliva on this special Alfacast to help us unpack what our distant ancestors knew regarding pattern recognition and the Natural Order from a contemporary context of 'Information - Energy - Matter'. Ana Maria is the perfect guide for this exploratory discussion.  Here's just a few of Ana Maria's credentials: Mom of twins, industrial mechanical engineer, master inBiomedical Engineering (extraordinary award ) from the University of Barcelona, PhD Biomedicine (Study of the effects of electric fields on cells), 5 years working in the NanoBioEngineering Lab and Microbiology Lab, with a 20 year history of teaching at different levels.  She has clinical experience with 10.000+ patients, while working in the most-awarded clinic in Europe.  Ana Maria has additionally been involved in "science for consciousness" conferences spanning 16 some countries, published 5 books, and created the Living University of Terrain and the EscuelasVivas.    This one is not to be missed, as our conversation is sure to deliver a good number of eye-openers, as we traverse many fascinating topics. Escuchar audio

Bet you didn't know that nurturing the next generation of opera performers, technicians, and enthusiasts begins in classrooms. Join Key Change co-hosts Anna Garcia and Olga Perez Flora on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Santa Fe Opera Department of Community Engagement and Education, featuring guest appearances by Season 5 favorites Charles Gamble, Director of Community Engagement, and Marissa Aurora, Community Engagement Liaison, plus new friend Olivia Dorrell, Administrative Coordinator.  “We're all moved by the extraordinary pageantry, music, and movement of opera,” says Charles. “I'll be honest with you, though; the thing that most excites me is the process of being able to engage in that process with young humans and watching them do the heavy lifting of being artists.”  Santa Fe Opera's myriad school programs and summer camps introduce children as young as three to the collaborative spirit of opera, while professional development workshops help teachers use opera to facilitate learning. Internships provide an essential point of entry for college-aged talent. “It's been really rewarding to see and hear from the students how it's opening their world to a lot of career paths that they didn't think were possible in New Mexico,” says Marissa. Other initiatives like volunteer opportunities, the Pueblo Opera Cultura Council, and the Pueblo Opera Program ensure that Santa Fe continues to be a welcoming environment for all. Oliva agrees. “It's always lovely to welcome so many patrons to the preview dinners, some seasoned opera-goers and some attending the opera for the first time.” FEATURED IN THIS EPISODE Charles Gamble, Director Of Community Engagement  Marissa Aurora, Community Engagement Liaison Olivia Dorrell, Administrative Coordinator MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Opera Storytellers Summer Camp | Santa Fe Opera Pueblo Opera Program | Santa Fe Opera Pueblo Opera Cultural Council | Santa Fe Opera ALTO: Arts Integration | Santa Fe Opera Guilds Of Santa Fe Opera, Inc Opera Theatre | University Of New Mexico Albuquerque Academy Northern New Mexico College The Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts Lucio Silla 2005 | Santa Fe Opera Der Rosenkavalier | Santa Fe Opera The Turn of the Screw | Santa Fe Opera Die Walküre | Santa Fe Opera La bohème | Santa Fe Opera KEY CHANGE RECOMMENDED PLAYLIST An Opportunity to Encounter Excellence (and Big News!) Round and round and round it goes, where it stops nobody knows… and that's a really good thing if it means it doesn't end up in the unmanageable waste landscape we humans have created for ourselves. In our 99th episode we're joined by Neda Hashemi and Andrés Olivia from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation where we explore why Marketers are key facilitators in the transition to a circular economy. Neda and Andrés talk about their latest research and explain the different ways that the circular economy can future-proof and scale businesses, drive efficiencies, reduce emissions and help to ease the burden we place on biodiversity and the planet. Andrés explains that their are many different ways to implement circularity, “the first one is about selling access rather than ownership for example, a washing machine, what if you rented it instead of owning it? We also have monetising of product through life extension for example selling repair services. And finally, and this is the last resort, once products are no longer fit use, reuse or repair can they can be recycled and turned into new products?” Neda and Andrés share how B2B is leading the charge when it comes to circularity, but in the B2C world, whilst there is plenty of innovation - it is not scaling at the levels required. A reason for this Neda explains is “the demand isn't happening because behaviours are not consistent.”  She goes to say, “don't be intimidated by the concept of the circular economy and circularity, all need to do is understand the simple premise of what the business model entails, which again, they have been doing forever and inject their creativity and human understanding into it. And then the potential is huge for them to engage with it.” It's not rocket science, when you remove the word circular economy and focus on what people value and want, then there's plenty of scope to unlock the opportunities. Tune in to hear us talking about how: Bringing in the marketing function as problem solvers and the key communication interface between the brand, the organisation and the consumer is key. The role of education and how Marketers are critical in driving this. The key areas coming out of the research including their “Four Action Pathways” How Marketers can make circularity desirable, irresistible and remove the barriers for adoption. The ‘Why' we need to build a circular economy. How focusing on upstream demand should bring in multiple perspectives to take the innovation forward and bring everybody together to organize themselves around the common objectives. Metrics – from circular sales to increased loyalty and lifetime transaction values. Core resilience of the business is often not brought into the business case for circularity.

Ep 132. Why are friendship breakups even more dramatic than romantic ones, and how might they teach us about deeper patterns of behavior we may need to break? In this solo episode, I share my experience of losing close friendships, as well as how I've maintained and nurtured long-term, healthy relationships. I'm breaking down the #1 sign I look for in myself and others to know if there is capacity to be a “good friend,” why we often enter dynamics that recreate the one we shared with our mother until the dynamic becomes conscious, and why sometimes it “has to be dramatic” in order for the pattern to be witnessed and broken. Whether you're currently struggling with friendships or looking to deepen your existing relationships, I hope this episode will make you feel a whole lot less messy – and a lot more understood.    HERE'S THE JUICE The number 1 sign of a healthy friendship How to have both compassion & high standards for the relationships in your life How to know if it's just a mistake, or a repeated pattern of behavior How to avoid friendship breakups in the future by looking for red flags in your OWN behavior, not theirs, when you're around them The importance of personal responsibility and how to develop this lens in conflict How to grow together in a long term friendship without growing apart How to create a relationship with yourself first to truly enjoy connection, rather than “fulfill a need”  The ways childhood wounds and "mother wounds" shape our friendship patterns  Why it's okay to be "choosy" about who you let into your inner circle Why loneliness can actually be an unexpected medicine      Watch the full episode on What's The Juice YouTube Channel  To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia's line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com.   Connect with What's The Juice: Follow What's The Juice  Leave us a voicemail  Email us: Whatsthejuice@organicolivia.com   Connect with Oliva:  Follow Organic Olivia  Olivia's personal IG Organic Olivia on TikTok Read Olivia's blog posts

Ep 130. Welcome to Season 6, and the mark of a brand new chapter for What's The Juice Podcast. Wellness is changing, humanity as a collective is changing… each and every one of us are going through huge internal shifts right now. When I sat with the question, ‘how can I be of maximum service to my community at this very moment?' I realized that at least for right now, that doesn't look like another episode about your circadian rhythm. It doesn't look like another complicated protocol to add to your to do list. In the age of information overload, we now know what we “should” be doing to take care of ourselves – I'm more interested in unpacking the deeper, not-so-palatable reasons as to why we sometimes can't or don't. The things we think we're alone in carrying, like shame or guilt, that prevent us from hearing our own inner wisdom and voices about what our bodies actually need separate from an IG perfect morning routine.    I'm ready to show up as a fuller, wiser version of myself and speak even my ugliest truths because telling our stories is what free us from that shame. This means I also get to speak to the fullness of YOU, and the big life you're working so hard to create by facing your deepest layers. Let's talk about all the things we struggle with behind closed doors: how to build a real relationship with yourself after a lifetime at odds, candid chats about vices, friendship breakups, and rediscovering your inner child so that she can get you through this often magical but sometimes extremely difficult life. Come along for solos, Q&As, conversations between everyone from thought leaders to my very best friends.   Starting off strong, today we're chatting about periods of death and rebirth. Massive transitions are a part of life, but how do we best care for ourselves during a time when it feels like the world we once knew is ending? What do you do when you wake up one day and your life no longer fits – you know you need to say goodbye to the way things are, but you're terrified of jumping when you don't know what's next? I'm breaking down my last couple of years and the terrifying experience of letting go, sitting in nothingness, and trusting that something new will be born. I'll be sharing the very best wisdom I learned from the pain. Whether you're ready for a change in your career, relationships, or sense of identity, this episode is a comforting reminder that growth is necessary, nonlinear, and ultimately SO worth it.    HERE'S THE JUICE Why we're so afraid of change and how to understand that the “death” before a rebirth is necessary What to do when you know a part of your identity has expired, but you can't quite see what's next yet How to know when you're entering a period of restructuring and change (and the signs your life might be giving you that it's time to course-correct) Why major life pivots are essential even if our society doesn't value us during them – how to train your brain to know that discomfort and pain come before growth and birth Embracing the idea that your worth isn't dependent on your creations and productivity, but rather your innate ability to create in the first place How to navigate misalignment and have patience for ourselves when we don't listen to our inner voice and fall off our path The power of the unknown and why jumping into it is sometimes the only way forward  How to create space for rest and reflection in small ways on a day-to-day basis & why nature can be an influential teacher and source of comfort during transitions     Watch the full episode on What's The Juice YouTube Channel  To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia's line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com.
