This week on Eat Drink Smoke Happy Hour, Tony and Fingers review the Tatuaje Avion 13 Corojo, a 6 7/8 x 52 Nicaraguan Corojo perfecto with a smooth draw, a silky feel, and plenty of spice. The guys break down the cigar’s red pepper, cedar, coffee, cocoa, and creamy chocolate notes, while also clearing up some confusion between the Corojo and Reserva versions of the Avion 13. Also this week: Fingers explains why golf is best enjoyed from the clubhouse deck with a cigar, Costco’s hot dog combo takes a controversial turn, microplastics lead to an unexpected conversation, John Hinckley Jr. weighs in on hotel safety, and a Chinese EV with a built-in toilet raises several important questions nobody wanted answered. This week on Eat Drink Smoke Happy Hour, Tony and Fingers review Woody Creek Distillers Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a 90-proof bourbon with a mash bill of 70% dent corn, 15% rye, and 15% malted barley. The guys break down the bourbon’s oak, honey, vanilla, sugar-cream-pie sweetness and slow-building heat, then test it neat, with water and on a cube to see where it really shines. They also revisit the Tatuaje Avion 13 Corojo, a 6 7/8 x 52 Nicaraguan Corojo perfecto that keeps delivering cedar, coffee, spice and a surprising hay note as it moves into the second third. Also this week: William H. Macy, Indy 500 radio greatness, Mother’s Day gift disasters, TSA officers leaving during the shutdown, the return of questionable gift guides and why a cow from Defiance Beef may be the only Mother’s Day present that truly says love. This week on Eat Drink Smoke, Tony and Fingers review the Tatuaje Avion 13 Corojo and Woody Creek Distillers Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The Tatuaje Avion 13 Corojo is a 6 7/8 x 52 double perfecto with a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and filler. Tony and Fingers break down the cigar’s cedar, red pepper, coffee, cocoa sweetness, creamy texture, spice, draw, construction, and whether it belongs in the humidor at around $13 a stick. Spoiler: this one made a very strong impression. On the drink side, the guys sample Woody Creek Distillers Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a 90-proof bourbon made with 70% dent corn, 15% rye, and 15% malted barley. They talk oak, honey, vanilla, rye spice, sugar cream pie sweetness, heat, water, a cube, and whether it earns a spot in the liquor cabinet at $50 a bottle. Also this week: Tony and Fingers clear up some confusion over the different Tatuaje Avion blends, debate whether Costco is ruining civilization by offering bottled water with its hot dog combo, discuss TSA officers leaving during the government shutdown, and review a Mother’s Day gift list that somehow includes earplugs, a fish-shaped water pitcher, and a $95 hairbrush. Plus, Chinese EVs with built-in toilets, why Fingers wants one only as a way to avoid driving people places, Tony’s motel bathroom emergency, cigar notebooks, Indy 500 radio coverage, and why Defiance Beef may be the only Mother’s Day gift list anyone really needs. Watch Video Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbKyIxpOLms L'PURE Instagram: / lpure.rd To Purchase: https://topcigarshub.com/lpure/ ~Full Description for YouTube: Born from a deep-seated passion for the art of tobacco, L'Pure Cigars is the brainchild of Luis J. Pendones and Moises Gonzalez. The brand's journey began in 2016 within the heart of the Dominican Republic's cigar industry, where Pendones honed his craft in one of the region's largest factories. Formally launched in 2019, L'Pure was built on a foundation of "quality and consistency," aiming to bridge the gap between novice smokers and seasoned connoisseurs through meticulously sourced raw materials and traditional artisanal techniques. The L'Pure portfolio is anchored by its signature Corojo and Connecticut blends, each designed to offer a sophisticated, balanced smoking experience. By focusing on the "purity" of the process—from the mineral-rich soils of the Dominican Republic to the skilled hands of the torcedores—the brand delivers a profile that emphasizes natural sweetness, smooth transitions, and a refined aroma. Whether you are looking for the creamy subtlety of their Connecticut or the spicy depth of the Corojo, L'Pure remains a testament to the dedication of the farmers and craftsmen who make every puff possible. Beyond the blends themselves, L'Pure distinguishes itself through a philosophy of patience and precision. Every leaf undergoes a rigorous aging process, ensuring that the inherent strength of the tobacco never overpowers the delicate flavor notes. This commitment to the "long game" results in a clean finish and an effortless draw, making their cigars a favorite for those who appreciate a slow, meditative smoke that doesn't leave a harsh aftertaste Expanding their reach from local Dominican roots to the international stage, the brand continues to build a community centered around the lifestyle of relaxation. L'Pure isn't just about the product; it's about the moments of connection and reflection that happen around a humidor. As they continue to innovate with new vitolas and limited releases, Luis and Moises remain hands-on, ensuring that every box bearing the L'Pure name meets the exacting standards they set back in 2016.~ $27 a month, unlimited data, 100+ countries = pangia pass Use my link for 10% off: https://pangiapass.com/a/bold Find Me Here: https://linktr.ee/bold.perceptions Travel / Lifestyle Consultation, DM Me On Instagram: bold_perceptions #travel #podcast #cigarlife #cigars #santiagodeloscaballeros #dominicanrepublic #travelpodcast #nomad
On this episode of Eat Drink Smoke Happy Hour, Tony Katz and Fingers Malloy light up the Camacho Corojo Toro -- and find out what happens when a cigar sits quietly in the humidor for nearly four years before finally getting its turn. The guys break down the cigar’s oily wrapper, steady construction, black-and-red pepper spice, wood notes, and just enough underlying sweetness to keep things interesting, even if it doesn’t quite land in Tony’s personal wheelhouse. They also stumble into an actual surprise during a Gas Station Find when Big Sipz Chocolate Martini turns out to be far more drinkable than either of them expected. What starts as a joke ends with comparisons to a White Russian, a rare moment of approval, and the shocking possibility that a three-dollar gas station drink might actually be party-worthy. Along the way, they get into rotating cigars in the humidor, frozen burger tricks that may or may not be gourmet, dog walkers treating Fingers’ mailbox like public property, the challenge of talking about Iran when the story keeps changing by the hour, and why this may be the first truly successful gas station find in show history.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Tony Katz and Fingers Malloy smoke the Camacho Corojo Toro and find out that a cigar sitting in the humidor for nearly four years can still bring plenty to the table. The guys break down the all-Corojo build, talk through the pepper, wood, and subtle sweetness in the profile, and debate whether this under-$10 stick earns a spot in the humidor. They also pour Two James Spirits Johnny Smoking Gun, a Detroit-made whiskey infused with Japanese tea that delivers one of the strangest and most interesting flavor profiles they’ve had in a long time. Smoky, herbal, savory, and unlike just about anything else on the shelf, it turns into a full-on tasting-room conversation about whether “weird” is worth $50. Along the way, Fingers brings in a surprise Gas Station Find that actually works, the guys argue about the right way to season burgers, get into neighborhood dog-walking etiquette, talk airline delays and TSA chaos, and take a look at a list of the best places to work in America. #ELOsoFumarTakes – #351stTake It's that time of year again… my Top Ten Cigars of 2025 are about to be revealed. WELCOME BACK! HAPPY NEW YEAR! The night is here! The time is right! It's time for the #ELOsoFumarTakes Top 10 Cigars of 2025! Once again, the legendary George Brightman joins us for the Top 10 Countdown for the ages! I've sent George my top ten cigars for him to sample and taste test blind. He gives an honest breakdown alongside my own assessments. Enjoy! Criteria: It's vitola based. I had to have smoked the cigar for the first time in the last year and a half.* It must not suck. No limited edition cigars (i.e. TAA, shop exclusive) are eligible. A previous number 1 cigar winner (blend-specific, i.e. 2017 Winner Espinosa Habano) cannot be on this year's Top 10 or repeat as winner.* A company cannot have more than 1 cigar on the Top 10, however, may be considered for honorable mention.* THE BIG ONE: frequency of smoke. Basically, I had to have the means AND opportunity AND did, in fact, smoke the cigar frequently. Just to review, here is last year's list: Top 10 Cigars of 2024: Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu Blue No. 1 Toro Grande BLK WKS Killer Bee Robusto Room101 Johnny Tobacconaut Robusto (2023 Edition) Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Robusto Gordo Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Umbagog Bronzeback Plascencia Cosecha 149 Azacualpa Powstanie Connecticut Belicoso La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut Corona Micallef Blue Robusto Ferio Tego Summa Torpedo Top 10 Cigars of 2025 (this year): 1) Kristoff Veinte Twentieth Anniversary Toro (Timestamp: 02:49:37) The Veinte Cigar follows the recipe template of incorporating tobacco from many regions. Coming in at #18 on the 2024 Cigar Coop Cigar of the Year Countdown is the Liga Privada 10 Aniversario by Drew Estate. In 2018, Drew Estate celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Liga Privada brand by introducing two cigars: The 10 Aniversario and the H99 Connecticut Corojo. These two releases were groundbreaking because they incorporated uncommon wrappers from the State of Connecticut. The Liga Privada 10 Aniversario uses a Connecticut-grown Criollo wrapper, while the H99 uses a hybrid Connecticut-grown Corojo wrapper. While the cigars were unveiled in 2018, these remained extremely limited releases for nearly four years due to low yields of the wrapper. In 2023, that would change, and the 10 Aniversario and H99 Connecticut would begin to reach the market. Initially released in a Toro, Drew Estate has now expanded production of the Liga Privada 10 Aniversario to include a Robusto, which lands on this year's countdown. The #9 2023 Cigar of the Year is the Tatuaje Havana VI Verocú Blue No. 1. The Verocú Blue is a regular production line that made its debut at the 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. Verocú Blue is described as an offshoot of the Tatuaje Havana VI Verocú line, which is, in turn, an offshoot of the Tatuaje Havana VI (aka Red Label) line. While there may be some DNA connections among these lines, the difference with Verocú Blue is the Shade-grown Corojo wrapper grown by the Garcia family in Nicaragua. I've noticed that you can count on Estaban Carreras to introduce a new product at the year's Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. You can also count on them not announcing what that cigar is until the doors of the show open. Typically for its PCA show releases, Esteban Carreras has introduced a regular production cigar. In the case of the 2023 PCA Trade Show, Esteban Carreras opted to release a limited-production cigar called Taken from the Devil's Hand Maduro. This is a Maduro counterpart to a regular production cigar that was introduced last year called Taken From the Devil's Hand, which was the company's first Corojo cigar. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-qiD

This week on The Cigar Authority, Mr. Jonathan, David Garofalo, amd Ed Sullivan talk about Private Label products including cigars brands. We will smoke the Dos Hombre Nicaraguan Robusto, a house brand for Two Guys Smoke Shop. With the economy taking a hit, you might want to take your chances with a private label house brand. In the 2nd hour, we will light up another private label brand called 22 degrees North, 83 degrees West, which is a 5 country Corojo tobacco blend. The Cigar Authority is a member of the United Podcast Network and is recorded live in front of a studio audience at Studio 21 Podcast Cafe upstairs at Two Guys Smoke Shop in Salem, NH.
It's the final episode of Flavor Odyssey's Emerging Cigar Trends segment, and on this episode, we explore familiar wrapper types that are grown in atypical regions. Cameroon from Honduras? Broadleaf from Nicaragua? Corojo from Connecticut? It seems that tobacco agronomists are getting creative these days, and your hosts Robby and Randy will be exploring drink pairings with these tobaccos grown far from their normal terroir. Pairings Randy: Aladino Cameroon & Dark Lager
Coming to you from the JRE Tobacco Aladino Mobile Studios, Nick is joined by Mr Jonathan of the Cigar Authority and they ask ChatGBT what they should talk about. They each light up an Aladino Corojo Reserva, but Mr. Jonathan's has nearly three years of age on it allowing them to compare flavor notes.
