On the latest episode of the Long Ash Podcast, we invited the Executive VP of Kristoff Cigars Jarrid Trudeau to hop on and talk about how he landed the job at Kristoff, their most recent line Tres Compadres, and a brief overview of Kristoff's portfolio.
Kristoff Cigars would use the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show to celebrate its 20th anniversary. As a result, the company is coming with its 20th Anniversary Cigar, the Veinte. While as excited as Kristoff is to reach the 20 year milestone, the company is looking toward the future. At last year's Trade Show, owner Glen Case announced he was doing an overhaul of the packaging and bands of his portfolio. The loose tobacco and rustic elegance that Kristoff has been associated with for two decades is being phased out. This has been replaced by a more sleek, modern look. Kristoff Vengeance is the first of the existing lines to receive the new packaging. PCA 2024 Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-ssh

There was plenty of excitement and enthusiasm over what Kristoff Cigars was bringing into the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA). Kristoff is a company that has not been afraid to innovate, and this year they introduced two new regular production offerings that are the company's first Nicaraguan puros. On top of that, they also delivered another PCA Exclusive cigar. At the same time, Kristoff has also announced it will be making some significant changes to the packaging of its portfolio. We apologize in advance for the audio. We recommend turning your audio up if the sound is too low. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-q33

[00:01:43] Smoking a special non-pitted prune cigar.[00:05:17] Classing up the cigar. In this episode, we had a few unexpected twists and turns, but it turned out to be an absolute blast. Here are three key takeaways from this episode that I think you'll find interesting:1️⃣ Live Show Experiment: We decided to shake things up a bit and do a live episode. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, but thanks to the encouragement of our amazing listeners, we went for it. And let me tell you, it was a fantastic experience! We're definitely considering doing more live shows in the future, so let us know what you think!2️⃣ The Kristoff Guard Rail Cigar: We had the pleasure of smoking a very special non-pitted prune cigar called the Kristoff Guard Rail. This cigar had a unique silver band, and boy, did it deliver in terms of flavor and quality. If you're a cigar enthusiast, you don't want to miss our discussion about this gem.3️⃣ Insights into Cigar Culture: Our planned guest unfortunately couldn't make it, but that didn't stop us from diving deep into the world of cigars. We explored the differences between cigar culture in different parts of the world and had a fascinating conversation about blends, flavors, and characteristics. If you're curious about the intricacies of cigar smoking, this episode is a must-listen.I'll leave you with a quote from the episode that really resonated with me: "Smoke what you love. Life is short. Do it, baby." Wise words, indeed![00:08:30] Zimbabwe tobacco and cigar flavors.[00:13:48] Cheap swill and whiskey preferences.[00:18:00] Zimbabwe tobacco flavors.[00:22:16] Shelf placement and cigar sales.[00:25:18] The magic of this story.[00:29:07] The culture of cigar smoking.[00:33:18] Big business and upstaging.[00:40:22] Cuban cigar sales in China.[00:45:11] Cuban cigars and their reputation.[00:49:30] Cuban cigars and taste comparison.[00:53:23] Flavor change and enjoyment.[00:56:23] Pairings and recommendations.[00:59:59] Life is short.#guasrdrail #cigars #cigartalk #Kristoff #podcast

This week on The Cigar Authority broadcasting live from the Toscano Sound Stage in Salem, New Hampshire… Glenn Case is the owner and founder of Kristoff Cigars (and a really nice guy if you don't piss him off) but we think he has never been on The Cigar Authority. We are going to finally change that stat today as we discuss his near death experience that led to the creation of a new blend. In the first hour we light up a Kristoff Guardrail that is part of the care package while in the second hour we light up another Kristoff in the form of the JT Signature. Join us for all of this and the usual suspects including the VS Question of the Week, Offer of the Day, Cigar News, the email of the week and a peek into the Asylum. For as long as I have been coming to the Premium Cigar Association (and its predecessor IPCPR Trade Show), Kristoff Cigars has been a staple at the Trade Show. Some years are busier years than others in terms of new product, but each and every year Kristoff is one of the booths I look forward to visiting. 2022 was a year where it certainly was one of the busier ones - in terms of both traffic (hey, we photobombed our friends at HBTC in the booth shot) and new products. This year the new products had both a personal and business touch. There was a new regular production line, a PCA Exclusive line, and a line extension. At the same time, all three of these lines continue to showcase that Kristoff is very healthy when it comes to delivering innovative products. PCA 2022 Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-neQ

This week, #ELOsoFumarTakes welcomes Glen Case of Kristoff Cigars back for our #210thTake. The last time we sat down with Glen, a small thing called the Pandemic was just starting. Nobody knew what laid before us, but the past 24 months have proven the resolve that Case and his team built along the way. The Dominican Republic was hit the hardest with shutdowns of all cigar-producing countries. Additionally, we reflect on the tragic loss of a pillar to the Dominican Republic and Kristoff Cigars. We reflect back and forward with Glen. Enjoy! For this occasion, Glen and I would like to spotlight the American Diabetes Association and in the process, honor the memory of Glen's father - Mr. Vern Case. Learn more HERE. From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Glen Case of Kristoff Cigars. While Kristoff didn't have any new products to launch at the 2021 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show, our team had made the decision early on to cover the company as the first booth of the Trade Show. There was no economy of scale or minimalist booth when it came to Kristoff. The company had a full-scale booth and had brought its full sales team into action. Owner Glen Case made the decision to not launch new products, but keep the focus on quality and consistency of his portfolio. References PCA 2021 Report: Kristoff Cigars

This week on the big show, Tony and Fingers encounter something they have never tried before -- a vatted rye whiskey. They had questions. What is a vatted rye? What goes into the process of vatting a rye? Those questions and more were answered with this week's drink -- the Hochstadter's Vatted Straight Rye Whiskey. Tony Katz and Fingers Malloy (http://eatdrinksmokeshow.com) host Eat! Drink! Smoke! (http://facebook.com/eatdrinksmoke) recorded live at Blend Bar Cigar (http://blendbarcigar.com) in Indianapolis, IN. Along with the Hochstadter's Vatted Straight Rye Whiskey, the guys smoked the Kristoff Ligero Maduro cigar. To kick off their coverage of the Premium Cigar Association's Convention and Trade Show, Tony sat down with Glen Case, Owner of Kristoff Cigars. Glen talked about the Kristoff brand, why he got into the cigar business and the industry in general. You don't want to miss this interview! Coca-Cola announced they are changing the formula of Coke Zero and fans of the zero calorie soft drink are freaking out on social media. Is this a good move? Do they not remember the New Coke debacle of the 1980s? It was supposed to be a one-hour flight from Vegas to Stockton. It turned into a 17-hour nightmare that included reroutes, a lockdown and for many passengers, a night in an airport. What went wrong? How would the guys handle that situation? The Podcast is Free! Jarrid discusses his unexpected career twists and turns that had him working for one of the largest retailers in the U.S. to heading up the sales effort for a boutique cigar brand. This week, #ELOsoFumarTakes welcomes Glen Case of Kristoff Cigars to sit down for our #114thTake. As you all know, The Kristoff Vengeance Perfecto was named the #ELOsoFumarTakes #1 Cigar of the Year for 2019, so it'll be a huge pleasure to sit down with the man behind that cigar. Case started off in the Financial Industry, before jumping into his wife's (Teri) family cigar brokerage business. Six months in and building large successful sales for companies led to him being fired, yes, fired. You see, when companies get larger and more successful, they move from brokerages to In-House Sales. It's part of the gig, something that didn't sit well with Case. So, Kristoff was born. Named for Glen and Teri's son the company has become one of the industry's success stories and has done it in a way that just isn't typical. The rest is history!
