Click to Subscribe:  https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Young and the Restless sees the tension escalate the week of April 29-May 2, 2024 as Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) finds herself dealing with the aftermath of her sister Ashley Abbott's (Eileen Davidson) surprising disappearance. Ashley, who has been dealing with an emerging alternate personality, leaves Traci in a lurch at a therapy session, only to be later spotted behaving erratically at Neil Winters' Jazz Lounge. Meanwhile, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) remains preoccupied with a situation involving Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell).  In another storyline, the kidnapping of Harrison and the involvement of Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) keeps the Newman and Abbott families on their toes on the CBS soap opera. As Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) deal with the threat, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) manages to locate his son. The whereabouts of Claire Howard  (Hayley Erin), however, remain a mystery, adding another layer to the ongoing drama.  Elsewhere on YR, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) is locked in a power struggle at Chancellor Winters, while the lawsuit against the company picks up speed. As the week of 4/29-5/2/2024 unfolds, viewers can expect high-stakes drama, unexpected revelations, and new developments. In January of 2018, the world famous VIP Record sign was removed from the iconic record store located on the corer of Pacific Coast Highway and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The sign  and the record store became synonymous for the record store that was instrumental in launching the careers of Warren G, Snoop and Nate Dogg was removed. Before the removal of the sign a battle for the legacy the sign represents was underway.  Kelvin Anderson, the owner of the iconic says he put the sign up for sale on eBay to help fund his retirement.  Long Beach City Council, who offered no assistance to keep the store open, unanimously voted to make the store a historic landmark in an effort to block the sale.Since then, there has been no movement, no new location, and no definitive answer on where the sign will be housed.Anderson is now hopeful that will change.  He says he has a commitment from Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, to have a permeant home, or a plan in motion for the sign and a potential VIP Records Black Music museum before he leaves office.Anderson, with the help of Rhonda Love and DreamKreators studios has started the “Where's the Whistler” campaign to raise funds for the signs new home and museum.  To donate you can visit the website here. You can also attend a Vip Records live music event every first and third Wednesday of the month at Roscoe's Jazz Lounge located 730 E. Brodway Blvd. Tickets are $10 and a portion of the process will go to the “Where's the Whistler” fund raising efforts. On today's episode of The Word podcast we hear from Kelvin Anderson about the struggles to make the museum a reality.
