Send us Fan MailYou've done it, haven't you?The career. The salary. The title. The financial independence that your grandmother couldn't even have dreamed of. You've built the life that ticks every box that society handed you, and you've done it f*cking brilliantly. So why does it feel like you're living someone else's life? This week's episode is for the Gen X woman who is financially free and psychologically still asking for permission. The one who is awake at 2am thinking I can't do this for another 20 years... and then talking herself out of doing anything about it.Because I believe that the thing that keeps high-achieving women exactly where they are isn't actually a fear of failure. It's the fear of becoming someone their current identity doesn't recognise.Inside this episode, we get into:Why our generation specifically got wired to attach identity to career successThe employee identity that's running most Gen X women's lives... without them even knowing itWhy reinvention feels psychologically unsafe even when you desperately want itThe difference between the employee identity and the CEO identity (and it's got nothing to do with whether you have a business)Why you don't need to burn your life down... sometimes it starts with one brave moveAnd why you're not lost. You're just still running on an identity that was built for someone else's version of successThis isn't about quitting your job tomorrow. It's not about becoming an influencer or moving to Greece, tempting as that sounds. It's about becoming the CEO of your own damn life. On your terms. In your next era.Because you didn't break through every ceiling to stay in a room that doesn't fit anymore, did you? It's time for the identity to catch up with the woman.

The Founderz Lounge Episode #88 with Don Varady and Steve Bon.In this episode, Don and Steve sit down with Matt Hall to break down what actually makes a successful franchisee. Matt shares his story from the factory floor to becoming one of the top operators in the Clean Eatz system, and why consistency, process, and community involvement matter more than hype. They get into what most franchisees misunderstand, why some owners struggle to follow the model, how to build a strong team culture, and what separates elite operators from the ones who keep getting in their own way. Matt also opens up about burnout, leadership, health, and how personal discipline affects business performance. If you want to build a better business, lead people well, and understand what it really takes to win as a franchisee, this episode is for you.Timestamps:[00:00] Trailer and Intro[02:06] Matt Hall's background[04:58] Why Clean Eatz was different[06:40] Fears of buying a franchise[09:10] Franchise misconceptions[12:35] Helping improve the system[15:22] Why following the model works[16:31] What separates top franchisees[19:55] Matt's non-negotiables[23:05] Corrective action and process[26:30] Building culture and retaining great people[30:42] What Matt looks for when hiring[32:16] Why franchisees resist the model[34:34] The danger of freelancing in a franchise[38:05] Multi-unit misconceptions[40:50] Burnout, motivation, and staying engaged[47:50] How to rebuild momentum when struggling[51:08] Fitness, discipline, and longevityKey Takeaways:  • “We don't tell the customer no.” ~Matt Hall• Fear is one of the biggest reasons franchisees struggle, especially when it comes to marketing, hard conversations, and getting outside their comfort zone. ~Matt Hall• “There's never a time that we are too busy to ever follow the process.” ~Matt Hall• “I build the team and the team builds the company.” ~Matt Hall• Strong franchise systems get better when franchisees bring high standards, solve problems, and help improve the brand instead of just consuming what is already there. ~Don Varady• Building people matters because joining a franchise does not remove responsibility. In this episode, I'm sitting down with Matt Hall to unpack how he grew his membership from a stagnant 30–50 members to nearly 350 in just six months—despite a tougher online market. What really stood out to me is that this wasn't about hacks or shortcuts. It came down to raising his standards, focusing on delivering genuine value (not content that's secretly a sales pitch), and simplifying everything. Instead of trying to do more, he chose to do less—but better. He also made a bold decision to pause his one-to-one work for three months so he could fully focus on building a stronger offer and a more intentional launch strategy. We also dive into how he built momentum leading up to that growth. From consistent in-person networking and investing in paid speaking opportunities to running ads into a live three-day challenge, Matt focused on building trust and visibility in a very human way. I love how honest he is about the numbers too—around 3,000 subscribers, 900 challenge signups, and about a 12% conversion rate during a five-day cart. It's such a great reminder that success comes from understanding your metrics, staying consistent through the ups and downs, and being willing to rinse and repeat what works. And ultimately, building recurring revenue through membership has completely changed the stability of his business. 3 Key Takeaways: Do Less, But Do It Better One of the biggest lessons for me here is that growth didn't come from adding more—it came from simplifying. Matt focused on improving the quality of his offer and delivery, which made everything more effective and easier to scale. Real Value Builds Real Trust (and Sales) It's not about dressing up a sales pitch as “value.” When you genuinely help your audience and raise your standards, people notice—and that trust translates into conversions. Consistency + Courage = Growth From pausing one-to-one work to investing in visibility and sticking to his launch plan, Matt showed that growth requires both consistency and bold decisions. It's about committing to the long game and repeating what works, even when it feels uncomfortable. Before NFTs were a category and crypto was an industry, two artists released 10,000 characters into the world with no roadmap, no pitch, and no expectations. What started as an art experiment in code ended up flourishing into a movement about ownership and identity. In this episode of Possible, Reid sits down with Matt Hall and John Watkinson, co-founders of Larva Labs and creators of CryptoPunks, to trace how a small creative experiment became one of the most influential cultural phenomenons of the internet era. They reflect on what it means for art to live on-chain, why decentralization was a design choice rather than a slogan, and how digital identity became one of the most valuable real estates online. From museums and blockchains to profile pictures, permanence, the conversation explores how letting go of narrative control can allow culture and community to write the story themselves.

“another thread which I have extricated out of the tangled skein” [HOUN]    It has long been accepted that the original title of A Study in Scarlet was meant to be A Tangled Skein. While there is no surviving manuscript of the first Sherlock Holmes story, a single page of notes has long served as Sherlock Holmes's "birth certificate." However, Matt Hall discovered a letter in Sydney, Australia that proves otherwise. His research is presented in Vol. 37 No. 2 of The Sherlock Holmes Journal.  And it's much more than just a Trifle.
