Fantasy Baseball Live – January 25, 2026 – 3:00pmMicrosoft TeamsSegment 1 – News and Notes1.The Braves get bad news this week as Ha-Seong Kim suffered a hand injury and will miss at least the first half of the season. Are the Braves really going to battle with Mauricio Dubon at shortstop?a.If so, how much does his value increase?2.The White Sox finally trade Luis Roberts – moving him to the Mets IF/OF Luisangel Acuna and RHP Truman Pauleya. The deal felt a little light for me, but maybe Roberts is more famous than good, posting a sub .300 OBP the last two seasons. He did steal 33 bases in 2025. i.Does this give him a new lease with a chance to produce the 38-20 season he did in 2023, or was that just an outlier?ii.Acuna is slated to start in center field and if true, I'm assuming his draft value goes up?1.Stat line for 2026: AB, HR, SB, and BAiii.Let's compare the Mets lineup to the Dodgers.3.The Mets also acquired Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers from the Brewers for SS Jett Williams and RHP Brandon Sproat.a.WOW – huge trade as the Brewers once again move an ace pitcher with one more year of team control. However, unlike their 2024 deal to the Orioles for Corbin Burnes, they get two high-end prospects. Thoughts on the deal?b.Does Sproat start the season in the Brewers rotation? If not, when do you see him up?c.How long until Williams is in Milwaukee to either play shortstop or center field?4.The Rangers acquired MacKenzie Gore for five prospects – SS Gavin Fein, RHP Alejandro Rosario, 1B Abimelec Ortiz, SS Devin Fitz-Gerald, and OF Yeremy Cabreraa. This one is a quantity deal for the Nationals as only Ortiz is near-ready for the big leagues. What do you think of the deal?Segment 2 – Fantasy Questions of the NL WestLos Angeles Dodgers1.Andy Pages is a divisive player coming into 2026. He looked pretty good during the season, but in the playoffs, he was awful. He's the 29th outfielder off the board. Too high, too low, or just right?2.Does Dalton Rushing get enough at-bats to be rostered in 2026? His ADP is 403 (27th round).3.Hyesong Kim didn't play much last season, but is penciled into the starting second base position entering the 2026 season. Over/Under 30 home runs/stolen bases in 2026?a.His ADP is 443 – 39th second baseman off the board.4.One fallout of the Edwin Diaz signing is that Roki Sasaki will not start the season as the closer. He's listed as the Dodgers' 6th starter. He's the 79th pitcher off the board; let's call it a Top 60 pitcher. Does that feel good to you? Too high, too low?a.We will look at other pitchers going around where his is going.5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)San Diego Padres1.Jackson Merrill – 2026 stat line – AB, HR, SB, and BA2.Ramon Laureano finally broke the stigma of not being able to hit right-handed pitching. He posted the same batting average against both arms and hit 15 of his 24 home runs against right-handed pitching. After the trade to San Diego, he kept on hitting – 9 home runs in the last two months.a.Are you buying this breakout?b.The NBFC really isn't as he's the 55th outfielder off the board.3.I think I recall you willing to take a flyer on Sung Mun Song. Is that still your take?4.Joe Musgrove will cost you an 18th-round pick. Are you interested?5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)San Francisco Giants1.Bryce Eldridge is listed as the starting DH in San Francisco. Will this play out?a.Over/Under 400 ABs in 20262.Will Drew Gilbert get enough playing time to make a difference in 2026?3.Luis Matos hit eight home runs in 57 games last season. He makes great contact with solid exit velocity and launch angle data. There's even average speed?a.Is he a little undervalued with an ADP of 600?4.Landen Roupp (417) or Kai-Wei Teng (627). Who would you rather draft in a Draft and Hold League?5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)Close

Poni mentions that the Pirates never have a hard time finding a good closer. However, that was usually the case when Huntington was the GM. The Pirates traded Joe Musgrove to the Padres for a guy that recently retired from baseball, among two others that were not good. They also got Endy Rodriguez from the Mets in that deal. A caller says he likes Rafael Flores more because he plays first base as well as catcher. Another caller says that the Bednar trade made him buy Phillies hats for him and his wife and become a Phillies fan. Philip Rivers became a grandfather today.
Pirates saved roughly $20 million with the Bednar and Hayes trades. Jeff Passan loves the Bednar trade for the Pirates. Donny Football said on Twitter that it's incredible how bad Ben Cherington is at his job. Mullsy thinks the deal was below average for Ben Cherington. Poni says that one of the pros of the trade is that Flores has been productive in the minors. The Bednar trade does not measure up when compared to other deals. A caller calls for Ben Cherington to be fired now. An insider on Twitter said that the Bednar return was light in terms of the reliever market. We still don't have a Tommy Pham or IKF trade with 100 minutes until the trade deadline. A caller says that the Pirates won't reinvest the money they freed up. Poni and Mullsy both tweeted out polls asking if fans liked the Bednar trade, and both polls resulted in about 85% no. A caller is happy that Bednar got traded because he wants him to go win a World Series.

Welcome to Episode 55 of TableSetters! Today, we're joined by Matt Devine, one of the voices behind Devine Sports Gospel, your go-to source for all things San Diego Padres. Known for his humor and sharp takes, Matt is a must-follow for Padres fans. Be sure to check out his Instagram @DevineSportsGospel and X @DevineGospel for all the latest updates and bold opinions. We kick things off with a look at how Devine Sports Gospel came to be. Matt takes us behind the scenes of the platform's origin story and what makes it such a unique voice in Padres fandom. From there, we dive into the recent Roki Sasaki signing. Just before the deal with the Dodgers went down, Devine Sports Gospel stirred up some conversation about how Dodgers fans would feel if they missed out on Sasaki. With the signing official, we reflect on the drama that led to Sasaki's move to LA. Next, we pay tribute to the late Peter Seidler, whose impact on Padres fans and the San Diego community was immense. Matt shares his thoughts on Seidler's legacy and what it means for the Padres' future. Speaking of the future, we discuss the Padres' ongoing ownership drama and what it could mean for the team's direction. We shift gears to the 2024 NLDS, where the Padres led the Dodgers 2-1. Matt shares his thoughts on the thrilling energy and the decision to start Dylan Cease on three days' rest in Game 4. Then we dig into trade rumors surrounding Dylan Cease and Robert Suarez and how these moves could affect the Padres' 2025 roster. Plus, Matt gives his take on whether the Padres are better off with Luis Arraez after watching him up close. The Padres' offseason has been tough, with WAR projections remaining flat. Matt talks about the moves he hopes for before Spring Training and whether he sees a silver lining. Then, we play a fun "life depends on it" game: Who's more likely to win an MVP in the next few years—Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., or Jackson Merrill? Matt's answer is sure to spark some debate! We also look to the future of the Padres, with Matt sharing which prospect excites him the most. Plus, we discuss the rumored tension between Juan Soto and Manny Machado—was it well-known locally? Matt offers his perspective. In a lighter moment, Matt shares the hilarious backstory behind his comment about throwing Lemonheads at Brian Giles after a social media comparison with Juan Soto. Finally, we reflect on Joe Musgrove's iconic shiny ear moment from the 2022 playoffs. Matt gives his take on that unforgettable sight. We wrap it all up with a fun question: who makes Matt's Mount Rushmore of San Diego athletes and why? Follow us for more:

Inspired by Daulton Varsho, Jeff Erickson and Fred Zinkie review which players are better in real life than fantasy, and which players are better in fantasy in real life, and try to find some underlying trends. --- 00:00 - Fred Pod 9-2 01:00 - Daulton Varsho comment from Sunday night. 02:15 - Varsho isn't a good real-life hitter, but he's been decent for fantasy this year ($8) and hit .281 with 18 runs and four homers in August. 04:50 - Players who were better in real life than fantasy this year. 05:00 - Bryce Harper. 11th in OPS but just a $22 player. He will hit 30 homers, but without many steals and his batting average is more good than great. 10:00 - Freddie Freeman. 14th in OPS but a $20 player. He may not reach 25 homers or 10 steals. Hitting .285, which is fine but not special. 17:00 - Riley Greene. 20th in OPS. But hitting .259 with 20 homers and 4 steals. Missed a bit of time, but his R/RBI aren't great either. An $11 player. 22:15 - Popular opinion is that J.D. Martinez has been very good for the Mets. It's true. He has a .777 OPS. But he has generated just $4 in fantasy. Just 16 HR, 0 SB, 108 R+RBI. 29:00 - Orioles talk - Jackson Holliday, Coby Mayo 32:00 - Better in fantasy than real life. 32:20 - Maikel Garcia is second last in OPS. Has generated $17 in fantasy. The 33 steals and 83 runs scored are pretty awesome. 35:15 - Jacob Young is a poor man's version of Garcia. Eighth worst OPS but a $9 player thanks to hitting .258 with 31 steals and 69 runs. He's one of baseball's worst hitters but is helping fantasy teams in 3/5 categories. 38:35 - Zack Gelof has the 4th worst OBP of any qualified player. He also has 16 HR and 20 SB. A $4 player so far. 42:30 - Christopher Morel is batting .196 while somehow generating $3 in fantasy value. That's what 21 homers and 8 steals will do for you. 44:25 - Brice Turang has sunk to 13th worst in OPS but has generated $18 in fantasy production thanks to seven homers and 40 steals. Almost as valuable as Freeman. 46:15: - Firing up Julio Rodriguez, who's next? 47:00: - Alexis Diaz 52:25 - Good News for the Padres: Yu Darvish may return Wednesday; Joe Musgrove had a great start against the Tigers; Tatis is back. --- Pick6 Download the new DraftKings Pick Six app and use code RWPICKS. 1.I released my Top 400 Prospects. Please have five questions prepared for me.2.Jonathan Cannon has pitched ok for the White Sox. He has a 3.91 ERA but not many strikeouts. Any interest?3.Joe Musgrove might be back this weekend against the Marlins. Would you start him? He was not very good prior to hitting the IL.4.Joe Ryan left Wednesday's game with tight triceps. If he misses some starts, who will get them? a.One thought - Zebby Matthews is now in Triple-A. Good stuff and pounds the strike zone – just doesn't walk anyone. One of this season's big breakout pitchers.5.I'm a big fan of Zach Dezenzo. He got the call for Houston and started Wednesday's game. Many rookies have gotten the call for Houston, but few have actually played. Does Dezenzo play?6.That Holliday kid's pretty good, no?a.Coby Mayo seems to be following in Holliday's Part 1 debut. The Orioles just signed JD Davis. He better hit and hit soon. Thoughts?7.Josh Bell has four home runs since becoming a Diamondback. He's terribly streaky, but he's on a roll now. I'm assuming you're running him out there.a.He has 18 home runs. Over-under 25?b.Even if it's under, he's a 20/75 guy. Not bad for a cheap corner infielder.8.What one hitter are you targeting for this weekend's FAAB?9.What one pitcher are you targeting for this weekend's FAAB?
