We have a couple of stunning upsets, the return of many of our sweeties from years' past, and we get very distracted talking about the television show Reacher on this podcast about the television show Jeopardy!. Plus, Roger Craig returns in a big way with an ode to his legendary ToC moment and some news about his love life (which Jeopardy! fans also find a way to fume about, as is their wont), we get some very nice updates about our contestants' lives (Hannah Wilson owns a yarn shop! Troy is a dad now!), and we dive deep on a very unfortunate part of America's history, the Plessy v. Ferguson case. A reminder you can now donate to support the show and get our first-ever bonus episodes for your troubles! Guest: Larry Baer, CEO of the San Francisco GiantsIn 1992, Larry Baer was part of the ownership group that bought the San Francisco Giants and successfully prevented the team from being moved to Tampa, Florida. Back then, they had a big problem to solve: An old, uncomfortable ballpark that voters wanted to see replaced, but didn't want to pay for.20 years after the construction and financial success of Candlestick Park's replacement, Oracle Park, Baer — now the CEO of the Giants — embarked on an even bigger project, developing an entire neighborhood near Oracle called Mission Rock. “We're in the baseball business, but really, we're in the media, entertainment, sports, real estate business,” he says. Chapters:(01:05) - Growing up a fan (04:37) - Larry's dad (07:28) - Stopping the move (13:28) - The Giants in 1992 (15:18) - “What am I doing here?” (19:31) - Hiring with urgency (23:34) - Last out to first pitch (27:45) - Buster Posey (30:13) - The Candlestick problem (36:36) - Making a new stadium (43:00) - Always hungry (45:01) - Becoming CEO (49:52) - Homegrown talent (52:55) - The Mission Rock neighborhood (57:27) - Revitalizing San Francisco (01:03:20) - “It all starts here” (01:07:20) - What Oracle Park means (01:09:52) - What “grit” means to Larry Mentioned in this episode: Barry Bonds, Candlestick Park, Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal, Josh Harris, Larry and Bob Tisch, CBS, Peter Magowan and Safeway, Charles Schwab, Don Fisher, Bill Hewlett, Arthur Rock, Charles Johnson, Harmon Burns, Bank of America, Walter Shorenstein, Dianne Feinstein, Bob Lurie, Bobby Bonds, Dennis Gilbert, Roger Craig, Al Rosen, Dusty Baker, Bob Quinn, Brian Sabean, George Steinbrenner, Bob Lillis, Matt Williams, Greg Johnson, the 1994 baseball strike, Chase Manhattan Bank, Warren Hellman, Jimmy Lee, Pacific Bell, Coca-Cola Company, J.T. Ted was 8 years old when JFK was assassinated on November 22, 1963. A pall came over the nation when JFK was assassinated, everyone around him was effected. JFK's murder deeply effected Ted, starting his fascination with the investigation. Oswald being shot by Ruby just two days after JFK’s murder seemed too fantastical to be true! Ted has a background in TV reporter & teaches journalism. Ted loves investigative journalism. With Ted's pending retirement, he's looking forward to focusing on his great JFK Youtube channel! Listening to weekly episodes of Black Op Radio helps keep Ted close to the subject. Ted has current FOIA requests in progress with hopes of learning more on the Chicago plot. Ted interviewed Ruth Paine a decade ago! Ted tells why she cut him off from further communication! It was amazing to Ted how Ruth Paine tried to manipulate him. Solving the assassination of JFK's murder is coming down to the hard work of independent researchers. Ted appreciates the determined truth seekers in the JFK research community! Ted's nickname was TV Ted in the television & reporting world. Sgt. Robert Vincent's plane was diverted to Dallas, where they picked up an LHO lookalike! The CIA kept complete oversight over Sgt. Vincent & his wife after the assassination. Ted has concluded the JFK assassination was a CIA operation. Many people associated to the assassination on some level lost their lives or were harassed by the CIA. Len created 50 Reasons For 50 Years short videos to cater to people's short attention spans! Researchers are very interested in the murder of Officer Tippet by an Oswald imposter. Ted really appreciates the Oswald research published by John Armstrong in Harvey & Lee. Len & Ted discuss the multiple Oswalds that started to appear in different states. Was the CIA Edward Lansdale brought in to orchestrate & direct JFK’s assassination? Len believes the reporting of Oswald in Mexico City was a CIA created distraction. Thomas Arthur Vallee in Chicago also looked like Oswald & had a similar military career! Roger Craig saw an Oswald lookalike in Dealey Plaza getting into a Rambler station wagon. There were TWO Oswalds arrested on November 22, 1963 at the The Texas Theatre! The plane with Sgt. Robert Vincent landed at the Roswell AFB after leaving Dallas. David Ferrie was being followed by the CIA to make sure he didn’t speak out about the assassination. Oswald was seen creating a ruckus in multiple locations bringing attention to himself on purpose. The Warren Commission censored what was published in the report, rejecting multiple testimonies. Gerald Ford & the other members of the Warren Commission are guilty of helping with the cover-up. The Warren Commission has told hundreds of lies but ignorant people & shills still promote the report. With the WC claiming Oswald was in Mexico City, then how could Lee be at the Sportsdrome? How could Lee Harvey Oswald defect to Russia, return to the US with assistance & not be charged? Sylvia Odio reported that a Lee Harvey Oswald visited her home with anti Castro Cubans. Oswald arrested at The Texas Theatre seen at El Tico restaurant in a car registered to CIA business. Allen Dulles & The Big Money behind the opposition of Kennedy. NSAM 263 was JFK's initial initiative to start pulling out all troops from Vietnam. Len explains the Golden Triangle. David Ferrie was killed shortly after it was made public he was involved in Garrison’s investigation. Autopsy whistleblower suicided along with reporter Dorothy Kilgallen & Dr. Mary Sherman!

The Sports Experience Podcast with Chris Quinn and Dominic DiTolla
Episode 258 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & we're back on the gridiron discussing Roger Craig. A revolutionary player, Craig became a star for the San Francisco 49ers during the 1980s. Craig was a weapon at Fullback and Running Back in San Francisco's West Coast Offense, and his skills as a runner, receiver and blocker made him an integral part of the 49ers' dynasty. Craig's valuable set of skills helped him to become the first player in NFL history to record 1,000+ rushing yards and 1,000+ receiving yards in the same regular season in 1985! The former Nebraska Cornhusker made four Pro Bowls, won the NFL Offensive POY Award in 1988 and won three Super Bowls with San Francisco. One of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's biggest snubs, Craig finished his career with 13,100 yards from scrimmage and 73 total touchdowns. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-sports-experience-pod/support

The man behind the Hum Baby Giants of 1987 and 1989 was part of the great Dodger teams of Brooklyn and Los Angeles plus the worst Mets team of them all. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Two months into the season, and the Giants are hanging around .500, which honestly, is good enough by the time you hit September. They are still relevant in the West, but more so in the NL Wild Card race, where they briefly held the third spot for a couple of days (now 2.5 GB). The rookies Schmitt and Bailey have cooled off, but have earned a lot of respect from the veterans, and they could be here to stay. This begs the question of what to do with Joey Bart? They're going to kick that can down a long road with his "injuries." The bullpen is performing more like we thought, and Camilo Doval was named NL Reliever of the Month, converting all 11 saves, which was the most since Brian Wilson had 11 in September 2010. Zaidi said they will be "aggressive" at the trade deadline, we revisit two ex-Giants who are doing well, and we pay tribute to the "Humm Baby" himself, former Giants manager Roger Craig, who died earlier this week at the ripe age of 93. I was 12 years old when he commanded the 1986 club, famously known for "Humm Baby," and "You Gotta Like These Kids."www.torturecast.com@torturecastfacebook.com/torturecastGet 20% OFF @manscaped + Free Shipping with promo code TORTURECAST at MANSCAPED.com! #ad #manscapedpodwww.twitter.com/torturecastwww.facebook.com/torturecast

They also take a look at what they know for sure about the Giants heading into their 60th game of the season. Finally, Sam Lubman talks with Giants rookie third baseman Casey Schmitt about his first few weeks in the major leagues, sightseeing in San Francisco, and Sour Patch Kids.
