The first five years of Royce Isaacs' professional wrestling career saw him excel at high levels throughout the world of Independents. Breaking out in his home state of Colorado working for Lucha Libre Laughs and later Rocky Mountain Pro, Isaacs excelled as a tag team wrestler and as a singles. He'd become LLL Heavyweight Champion in 2015. Royce would spend the Fall of 2016 working for DDT in Japan. He would return in the Spring and Summer of 2017. Around this time Isaccs would make his debut for Championship Wrestling and instantly become one of their top stars. He would also be featured on Ring Warriors which briefly aired on WGN. He win top honors in the United Wrestling Network by winning both the TV Championship and the Heritage Champion (the top prizes of that era) before moving on to his next adventure. The NWA and the Crockett Cup. Although he and Thom Latimer did not win the Cup, they would become NWA World Tag Team Champions before ultimately, Royce left the company. Although Royce teamed with Jorel Nelson outside of the United Wrestling Network and the NWA, it was as the 1Percent that Royce and Nelson really took off. They were wrestling for AEW Dark & Elevation, was the West Coast Wrecking Crew in New Japan Strong. This would open doors for Royce. HE would join Tom Lawlor's Team Filthy, begin to compete at Josh Barnett's Blood Sport. His tag team prowress with Nelson allowed his team to flourish all over the country. Royce has now competed in Mexico, Japan, Canada, and all over the United States. On this episode of The Alliance Blog Podcast, we're going to discuss the transition that Royce made from working the NWA and UWN to becoming a major part of NJPW Strong. We will also celebrate the ten years of Isaac's career. We will also take a look at his upcoming events including NJPW Strong: Resurgence and Jamie Iovine's Ante Up 2, presented by Epic Pro Wrestling. https://dice.fm/event/6gw9q-jamie-iov... The episode is late I know, however I do promise it's at least pretty good. Doug and Bill go over the week that was wrestling, and their oh so insignificant lives! This week the boys cover their 4th of July, Brody King, Veda Scott, Bill's COVID Adventure, The Post, Jim Ross, PWG 19, Speedball Mike Bailey, Heidi Howitzer, the history of Billy Gunn, Fiddler's Green, Lucha Libre & Laughs, Konosuke Takeshita, Bob Dylan, and of course Ric Flair's Deathmatch Tournament! Here are a couple of questions for you after listening: How many minutes does the Flair match last before Flair dies? Does Bill deserve COVID due to his mistreatment of “employees”? What is your favorite side to have with fried chicken? My answers: I give 15 minutes. Yes. I'm a mashed potatoes and gravy type person, maybe add a biscuit. If you ever share wrestling with an uninitiated fan, you gotta show them something with highspots, something like a car crash, or something funny, and on today's episode, we lean into the latter! Zak welcomes Lucha Libre & Laughs promoter Nick Gossert to Smark & Friends, and as you might tell about the company's name, LLL brings together the worlds of wrestling and comedy. We talk to Nick about how the idea of LLL came to be, the times the comedians at commentary got the wrestlers to corpse, and how Nick responds to gatekeepers who say comedy has no place in wrestling. Welcome to episode 5 of One on Lund! This is the first episode that Nathan recorded without broadcasting via Facebook Live. While it seemed like a fun idea to be able to interact with listeners in real time, the live broadcast came with some audio issues and video freezes, and so Nathan will focus on the classic audio-only podcast format going forward. Perhaps future episodes with guests will be available on Facebook Live, but isn't it a good thing for all of us to spend less time on Facebook? Also in this episode, Nathan plugs the new podcast Shinin' by friends and fellow comics Sam Tallent and Dave Gborie. If you're looking for a fun and entertaining listen, check out Shinin' via Stitcher, iTunes, or the Sexpot Comedy website. Nathan talks about his love of professional wrestling and describes how he came to be one of the commentators for the popular show Lucha Libre & Laughs. Combining wrestling action and stand up comedy, LLL has been a Denver favorite for years. Nathan is eternally grateful to creator Nick Gossert for the opportunity to call live wrestling alongside Sam Tallent, with occasional support from Mitch Jones, Aaron Urist, and Ian Douglas Terry. Be sure to catch Lucha Libre & Laughs March 2nd, April 27th, and a huge 2 day event June 1st and 2nd! One on Lund is a painfully personal podcast featuring Denver Comedy Champion Nathan Lund.
