During a time in which social justice efforts for adult professionals are silenced, we welcome the iconic Jessica Stoya to discuss the globalization of the adult film industry and its impact on adult industry professionals. Along with discussing historical events that have led to changes in the adult industry, we discuss some of the hurdles that adult performers experience in their personal life that put their basic needs for food and shelter in jeopardy. These hurdles exist due to right wing, sex negative influences in our culture and can result in, for example, the performer being “unbanked” meaning that the performer may have trouble finding and keeping a bank that will allow them to have an account and other banking fundamentals, or they may be refused housing when looking to rent or buy property which can lead to a very real fear of homelessness. This all sounds heavy, but Stoya's impromptu Les Mis musical parody makes it all worth the emotional labor. Trust me. Then, we go on to discuss Stoya's bold career transition from mostly being an adult performer to focusing on writing and being an intimacy coach for Pam Shaffer's clinic Best Self Psych. This is a fascinating and important episode, especially if you care about adult performers' rights. We hope you join us as once again as we dare to Open Deeply. Stoya's Bio: Jessica Stoya has been working with sexuality since 2006. Her writing on the subject has appeared in The New York Times, VICE, Playboy, and many other publications. She, along with Rich Juzwiak, pens Slate's How To Do It sex advice column. Her first book, Philosophy, Pussycats, & Porn, has been published in English, and Spanish, Russian and Serbian translations. She completed her Ante Up! Professional Development certification in 2021, and has begun an undergraduate degree studying philosophy. For the first round of the games, our protagonists must kill another player to advance. Quinten and Atlas seem up to the challenge, but James and Dorothy have yet to be certain. Elle and I talk about Poker After Dark's Game of Gold, a poker playing granny, and Phil Hellmuth with Michael Phelps talking trash, as well as a poker player that is banned from a poker series for adding chips to his stack illegally. Elliott rules on a situation where a player turns his hand up but doesn't fold. Patrick and I play our the second of Matt's PLO session and I end the show talking about what I'm thankful for. https://linktr.ee/anteupmagazine https://www.patreon.com/AnteUpPoker https://www.jackpotdigital.com/ http://www.youtube.com/@AnteUpPokerMedia

How can parents and caregivers create a safe and open environment where young individuals navigating their own identities feel comfortable exploring and expressing their evolving identities? What are the most common misconceptions or misunderstandings that parents and caregivers have about supporting queer, trans, and non-binary young people? How can they overcome these barriers to offer genuine support? What actionable steps can educators and community leaders take to ensure that queer, trans, and non-binary youth feel seen, heard, and validated in these spaces? In this episode, Effy and Jacqueline invite sex educator and author Cory Silberbeg back on the show to discuss how to support young people in their quest to understand their identity, sexual orientation, and gender in today's political climate. They discuss the role of “trusted adults”, how to facilitate conversations and field questions in the home, and how to ensure a support network in and out of the home environment. In all her education in sexual health, Kara has never heard orientation explained or broken down the way that Aubri Lancaster did when talking about asexuality and aromanticism. Aubri challenged Kara to think more deeply about how orientation is taught and expressed to illustrate that we are leaving out important details and many layers. They look at those layers with more intention. If you like philosophy and the study of human sexuality, then this episode is for you. Aubri Lancaster (she/her) is an AASECT and ANTE UP! Certified Sexuality Educator. As a Greyromantic Asexual, Aubri has lived experience and a connection to the Asexual and Aromantic communities that provides a unique perspective on the issues facing the changing landscape of sexuality and orientation. When not working, Aubri spends her time with her spouse, her friends, her 6 year old, and her two adorable Chihuahuas. Learn more about Aubri: www.MyPassionAngel.com IG and TikTok: @AceSexEducation

What is the distinction between talking with children about their bodies, about sexuality, and about sex? And why is it important to talk about each? What are some barriers for adults to have these conversations with the children in their lives? How can we ensure that our conversations about sex are age appropriate…and what does “age appropriate” mean anyway? In this episode, Effy and Jacqueline chat with children's non-fiction author Cory Silverberg about having expansive conversations with children about sex and sexuality, including consent, body autonomy, pleasure, relationships, and identity - all grounded in the child's experience. They discuss the building blocks that support honest dialogue between children and trusted adults, as well as some of the barriers and pitfalls adults can come across when talking to the kids in their lives.More about CoryRaised in the 1970s by a children's librarian and a sex therapist, Cory grew up to be a sex educator, author, and queer person who smiles a lot when they talk.Cory spends a lot of time reading, writing, and talking about sex and gender and are happiest working with others.
