New data from CU Boulder's Leeds School of Business shows that Colorado's economy — once a national leader — took a big turn this year, with our GDP growth ranking 41st in the country. Maybe that's why Governor Jared Polis was so eager to take a literal table saw to a pile of regulations last week? Stand-up comic Joshua Emerson joins producer Paul Karolyi to dig into the data. Plus, we want your help picking Denver's Word of the Year! And we respond to a listener's fiery hot take on Denver's proposed flavored tobacco ban. Paul also mentioned this report saying Colorado is the 6th most regulated state in the country and Vivek Ramaswamy's response to Gov. Polis's latest stunt. What do you think should be Denver's Word of the Year? Paul put out the call on the Denver subreddit, but we think you can do better! It's Friday and we're rounding up the biggest news of the week. First, construction is imminent on the much-anticipated Bus Rapid Transit project along Colfax. Will the roadwork impact access to local businesses in a lasting way? Will the famous strip lose its character? Will drivers actually get out of their cars and get on the bus? Host Bree Davies is joined by Pete's Satire bartender and AAA spokesperson Skyler McKinley and Sie FilmCenter's artistic director Keith Garcia to discuss these changes to the neighborhood where they both work and live. Then, producer Olivia Jewell Love ranks her least-favorite halloween candy and the crew discuss the closure of Natural Grocers and Steve's Snappin' Dogs, Mutiny Information Cafe's grand reopening, and more wins and fails of the week. Bree mentioned her 2023 interview with Amy Cara, one of the developers behind Cherry Creek West project, which was approved by City Council this week. Skyler discussed RTD's lack of transparency around the firing of its police chief. Keith talked about the upcoming Denver Film Festival. What do you think about the BRT construction's impact on Colfax businesses? It's Friday, and we're breaking down the biggest stories of the week. First, a notorious Venezuelan gang called Tren de Aragua has reportedly arrived in Denver, and they've already been connected to a violent jewelry store robbery, a condemned apartment complex in Aurora, and some rumored violence at a political rally. So is this gang a big problem or just another scapegoat? City Cast newsletter editor Adrian González joins host Bree Davies and producer Paul Karolyi to talk about newcomer narratives, a report about plummeting birth rates, and our Rocky Mountain Highs and Lows of the week. Bree mentioned Mutiny Information Cafe moving to Englewood and Wash Park's 125th anniversary. Adrian discussed llamas in the San Luis Valley and bike lane plans. Paul also recommends this recent analysis of the effects of U.S. sanctions foreign economies and politics from the Washington Post. What do you think about Tren de Aragua? For the first time in the history of legal weed, sales are falling. It's an unthinkable turnaround for an industry that was once seen with limitless potential, and it's going to mean a loss of tax revenue for all the public services funded by cannabis sales. So why are weed sales dropping? Ricardo Baca is the founder and ceo of Grasslands, a cannabis-focused PR agency. He's been digging into the numbers, and he sees more than what's on the surface. Host Bree Davies sits down with the veteran cannabis journalist-turned-weed biz insider to parse out what, exactly, is going on with cannabis in Colorado. Oh, and- We're doing another food battle! This time, it's a showdown between Denver's favorite sandwich chains: Snarf's vs. Cheba Hut. So which colorful sub-maker will reign supreme? Or is there another local sandwich maker that deserves a spot in this battle? Leave us a voicemail with your take, name and neighborhood, and you might hear it on the show: (720) 500-5418 Bree mentioned Mutiny Information Cafe's GoFundMe, which you can support here. When Meow Wolf opens its newest and biggest immersive art museum, Convergence Station, in Denver next month, it will feature the work of more than 100 local artists, each one putting their own Denver-y spin on Meow Wolf's particular brand of interdimensional weirdness. One of those artists, Colin Ward, was a leading figure in Denver's DIY community before he died by suicide in 2018, shortly after submitting a proposal for an installation with fellow artist and friend Peniel “Pepe” Apantenco. Today on the show, City Cast Denver host Bree Davies tours the as-yet-unfinished Convergence Station, including Colin and Pepe's room, with Pepe and Kim Shively, who was also Colin's girlfriend. They discuss Colin's art, his legacy, and their complicated feelings surrounding his posthumous acceptance into the mainstream. Come hang with us at UMS! Friday, August 27, 6:30 pm at Mutiny Information Cafe. We'll be giving away some brand new CCD swag too, so you don't want to miss it. Good Morning, Colorado, you're listening to the Daily Sun-Up with the Colorado Sun. It's Friday July 30th. Today - The writer and artist behind The Colorado Sun's weekly comic strip, “What'd I Miss?”. It's the story of a white woman who woke up from a coma. Her younger, Black neighbor gets her back up to speed on what's going on in the world. But before we begin, let's go back in time with some Colorado history adapted from historian Derek R Everett's book “Colorado Day by Day”: Today, we take you back to July 30th, 1861 when a twenty five year old Missourian named Samuel Clemens - known later as Mark Twain - paused in Julesburg for an hour to change stagecoaches. He was traveling west with his brother that summer to escape the Civil War in his home state. Now, our feature story. Meet the writer and artist behind The Colorado Sun's weekly comic strip, “What'd I Miss?”, the story of a white woman who woke up from a coma and is catching up on the world from her younger, Black neighbor. Alan Brooks and Cori Redford will be at our in-person event this Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Mutiny Information Cafe in Denver. The Sun's Kevin Simpson recently chatted with Brooks about the evolution of their comic strip. To catch up on “What'd I Miss?” go to coloradosun.com. And Before we go, here are a few stories that you should know about today: An Aurora police officer quit his job this week after body-worn camera footage showed him striking a man with a pistol 13 times. John Haubert was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault and menacing. The video captured him striking Kyle Maurice Vinson with his pistol, choking him and threatening to kill him. Haubert was responding to a trespassing call on July 23. The death of a 12-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle after he ran away from a youth treatment center will be the first child fatality reviewed under a new system announced by the state child protection ombudsman. Ombudsman Stephanie Villafuerte said she intends to fill the gap left by other child fatality review systems in the state that do not result in publicly accessible reports that could help save children's lives. About 40% of child abuse deaths in Colorado do not get a review that results in public recommendations or information. Colorado's top health official testified in Denver District Court this week in a whistleblower case filed against the state health department. Agency director Jill Hunsaker Ryan was called to the witness stand to explain the firing of the health department's former head of disease control, Tony Cappello. Cappello says he was fired in retaliation for disclosing financial mismanagement of the HIV program. Hunsaker Ryan said she didn't understand the implications of legal guidance regarding HIV spending. Colorado has issued an ozone health warning every day since July Fifth. And the state has had 37 Ozone Action Alert Days already in 2021. What does it mean? Pollution and high heat are creating problems almost daily for those with respiratory issues, and even for healthy people who exercise at the worst part of the day. The Sun's Michael Booth researched the Air Quality Index and put together a guide you can find at coloradosun.com. For more information on all of these stories, visit our website, www.coloradosun.com. And don't forget to tune in again tomorrow for a special holiday episode. Now, a quick message from our editor. Two years ago, Kayvan Khalatbari was running to be mayor of Denver. He had started a chain of pizza shops, helped legalize cannabis, supported numerous arts organizations, and he had big plans for managing Denver's growth. Now he's the ringleader of a growing group of progressive-minded Denverites decamping for Trinidad, Colorado, a small rundown town on the New Mexico border. Mutiny Information Cafe is opening an outpost down there this summer. So are the owners of Grandma's House Brewery and the Hi-Dive. City Cast Denver producer Paul Karolyi sits down with Kayvan to talk about what he sees in Trinidad that he no longer sees in Denver. Plus, we'll hear from another Trinidad booster, Denver's iconic historical preservationist, Dana Crawford. Don't miss another morning with the City Cast Denver newsletter! Welcome to Episode 157 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Jeff, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin), joined by Michael Jeffries, are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Back from a fun live show in Trinidad, we hunker down at our home base for more geekiness, starting with the ever great Doom Patrol. The season is almost over and so much is happening on the show. The last episode had a lot of ass in it, although probably not how you're thinking. Tudyk continues to dominate on this show, though everyone does a real good job. We started talking about Brendan Fraser movies, as we are wont to do. What's your favorite movie of his? The multiverse is a thing that is prevalent amongst Marvel offerings, most notably in the Spider-verse but also in Agents of Shield. The new season features all kinds of twists, and also its separate from the Thanos world we know. They apparently weren't told what would happen in the MCU so they have had to work around it. There is a Coulson doppelganger, named Sarge, and he seems bad. Real bad. What does this Multiverse mean for other Marvel properties? That led us into casting for X-men characters, because they have to show up at some point. Who would be a good new Wolverine? We list a bunch of choices, so feel free to let us know which is your choice. We're thinking someone about 5'3" and you wouldn't believe the actors of that height. We finish up with small segment of Broadcast Sneaks, giving you what you need to know for your footwear needs. You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Welcome to Episode 155 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Mitch, Jake, Chris Baker and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Specifically, we talk Engame so be forewarned...SPOILERS abound! We all saw the movie, as you probably also did based on the numbers it is pulling in. It went profitable after a weekend of showings! There is a LOT to process after seeing this movie, and we did our best to do so. We ask questions, because the movie does a good job of leaving certain things open. So...if you've seen the movie, then give this episode a listen. You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Follow us on Twitter @broadcastgeeks. Welcome to Episode 154 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Mitch and Matt Orrin) along with Anthony Crawford, are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Endgame is upon us! While we talk about other topics, the MCU dominates this episode. We see a list of the MCU movies ranked from screenrant and we discuss them. Some are on point, while others completely miss the mark...Ragnarok at 16, c'mon! Some are hotly contested, such as where the first Iron Man falls. Do you agree with the current rankings. We also discuss the Flash and how physics still effect him. Can he stop on a dime, or more specifically...a fixed point, or is there a slide? Can he coordinate that slide to stop on that point? If roadrunner could, then could he also? We go deep on this one. Lastly, we talk Star Wars trailer and the implications for the last movie. Is Palpatine back, and did he have anything to do with Rey's birth? Or even Anakin's if we go back? Who will end up the good "guy" at the end and who the "bad"? Do the trailers show us misleading information? We realize there are two many questions, so we just speculate. Are you excited to see it? Welcome to Episode 153 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Jeff, Mitch and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Doom Patrol takes a turn for the weird this week, which says a lot for this show. Mitch gives us the breakdown of the last episode, which features the many characters inside the head of Crazy Jane. Cliff gets a peek inside her head, at the Underground where they all live, to find Jane and bring her back to consciousness. We talk about how good of a job they are doing with the Cyborg character, especially as far as keeping his powers manageable and somewhat believable. We take another stab at why Mitch doesn't like 'Horse & Sword' fantasy, with the origin story dating back to his football days and playing games in Kearney (prounounced KUR-NEE), Nebraska. Did you know that our Mitch is a State Champion? We didn't either, but it plays into why he doesn't like the genre. Next up was Star Wars talk, as there was a bunch to talk about. The new trailer was released, giving us LOTS to discuss. Is Palpatine going to have big role in the movie? Will Rey turn bad, and Ben good? Which Skywalker will rise? The Skywalkers are terrible people and demonstrate bad personal traits, such as impatience, anger, and emotional immaturity. Well, at least the men do including Kylo, who is the son a Skywalker. Wait...could Han also be a Skywalker? This brought us to bounty hunters, specifically the Mandalorian, which will be released on the Disney+ streaming service debuting in November. Which is your favorite bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe? You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Follow us on Twitter @broadcastgeeks. Welcome to a special Shazam! Episode of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek, but mostly Shazam! We have a special Shazam!-centric episode, recorded weeks before the movie was released in theaters. We saw it, we liked it, and then we talked about it with occasional off-topic discussion. Listen and prepare to be spoiled. You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Follow us on Twitter @broadcastgeeks. Welcome to Episode 152 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jake, Jeff, Mitch and Matt Orrin) with Carlos Madrid are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Endgame is weeks away and new trailers are coming out all the time!! Some of us avoid them but the rest of soak in the glory of whats about to hit theaters. We talk about what we know, and speculate about what we think, will happen. Who will stop Thanos? Will it be the newly introduced OP'd Captain Marvel? Will it be The Hulk? Or Ronin? Then, what will happen AFTER Endgame, as we start a whole new phase of the MCU? Hopefully the Fantastic 4 and X-Men will be involved! While talking about the MCU, we told Jeff the premise of Captain Marvel and he stated he doesn't like the Skrulls and might have an issue with shape changers. We tried to delve in real deep to figure the extent of that dislike. Does it apply to only Skrulls, or would Mystique also be in there? What about Transformers? Back to Doom Patrol, and other DC properties. This last ep of Doom patrol featured Danny the Street, a sentient street that is running from the govt. The show is endearingly weird and we all really dig it! Cloak & Dagger is back and when we brought it up, someone thought we were referring to the old Dabney Coleman movie with the same name. Then we reminisced about Dabney Coleman and all of his fine roles. What was YOUR favorite Dabney Coleman movie? You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Welcome to Episode 151 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the OGs (Jake, Jeff, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Doom Patrol is up first! Is Robotman also considered a cyborg, or would he be an android? We talk about that, as well as whats been happening on the show. The show is lot of fun albeit a little weird, and we speculate who else will appear on the show. That brings us to the new Joker on Gotham, who looks kid of odd. Odder than what you'd expect the Joker to look like, even if it all takes place years later. We have so much discussion about the Joker in general, such as whether or not he is circumcised. Also, it is canon that he wears a Merkin. Do YOU know what a Merkin is? With Endgame around the corner, its hard not to talk about the MCU and what is coming down the pike. We saw a pic of Paul Rudd wearing a hat, possibly with a new Fantastic Four logo. Is this Marvel putting it out there? Will we see them in the near future? We speculate about the Illuminati showing up in post credits scene, introducing Prof. X, Reed Richards, and Namor. Wouldn't that be cool!! Prior to ending with talk about why some people (Mitch!) hate Horse and sword fantasy, we chatted a bunch about Conan O'brien and all of the cool things he has done. Especially Conan 25, in which he release 25 years of episode material to the world for free! We also talk about how loyal he is to his staff. It made for a fun conversation. Welcome to Episode 150 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Nate and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. DC is putting out a Batman vs the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles and that got us all excited! Jake talks about how aligned it appears to be with the comic book, and we discuss any possible changes. This leads to us speculating about time changes across the dimensions, because Shredder gets to Gotham more than a year before the turtles. Batman isn't happy when he first encounters them but when he realizes the true threat, they work together. Do you think Batman likes one of the Turtles more than any other? Which one do you think it is? With the Disney acquisition of Fox properties now at a close, we talk about the implications of the next phase in the MCU. Thoughts are that the Illuminati will be a focus, which is a great way to incorporate Prof. X and even Namor. However, will the Xmen being a completely new set of people? Will they start them young, like first class? Will they have a new Wolverine, and who will it be? Speaking of MCU, James Gunn is back at the GotG helm, but he is gonna be busy because he is also going to direct the Suicide Squad for DC! Which movie do you think will be made first? After a little discussion of James Van Der Beek, who we all kind of like, we talk about TV programming. Lex Luthor is now on Supergirl though we're concerned that they are watering down Supergirl's importance by using Superman and his villains on HER show. They should emphasize a whole new crop of villains for her. We discuss Netflix programming, which will take a hit when the Disney+ streaming services comes out later this year. We also talk about Kevin Smith making a bit of a resurgence with his meta Jay and Silent Bob reboot. Somehow, we get into butt stuff but if you think about it, don't we all? Welcome to Episode 149 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. We saw Captain Marvel and did she kick some serious butt!! Did she kick Kree, or Skrull, butt? Well, if you want to know then listen to this episode because we pretty much spoil the movie. This is the last MCU movie before End Game, and they show us what Thanos will be up against. Firstly, there is a really cool tribute to Stan Lee in the opening title. And his cameo is GREAT in the movie, making us think that he IS God. What are your thoughts on it? The movie makes some minor changes from the comics, specifically with the Skrulls and Kree, and maybe also how she gets how powers. However, the changes work well and shouldn't bother too many purists. We see Ronan, though he doesn't appear to be down with the clowns because he doesn't have his face paint on. We talked about space travel, and how some of these characters are doing it. Its faster than light speed, but we aren't sure if it is straight up teleportation. One of the Geeks thinks they are similar modes, which leads to some arguing and deriding. Listen to see which one of us it was! Welcome to Episode 148 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Chris and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. We start our episode off with Doom Patrol, the latest live action offering on DCU. It is a very non-conventional show, with weird characters, and it can be a lot of fun. We talk about the characters, their powers and possible offerings later in the season. We talk about the Titans connection as well. Next, we jump to Marvel and specifically of the Captain variety. Jake was the only Geek to have seen the movie but he wasn't around to share his thoughts. We talked about the BS that Sam Jackson has been feeding us for years, making us think he was spoiling stuff but really he was just messing with our heads. We started to talk about the next phase for the MCU, and how there is a long break after End Game. We jump over to the Spidey verse, talk more about that movie and then how the new Spiderman movie will fit into the whole timeline. For all you Trekkies out there, we give the Bakedown of Star Trek Discovery. Chris Baker gives us a complete synopsis of season 1 and a bit into season 2. We talk about how the new Picard based show will play out. He tells us how Discovery fits into the Star Trek universe, including the newer movies. You won't wanna miss this section of the pod. Lastly, we talk about the CW multiverse with attention to Arrow, which had just been announced will be ending after next season. We have mixed feelings about the news, as that show was what sparked our podcast! Some of us think all good things end, and need to end to help it be defined as a good show. Hopefully, his Green Arrow will be absorbed somewhere in the DCU on a new Justice League type show. Who knows what other DC characters could start to get their own shows. Who would YOU like to see get their own show? You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Follow us on Twitter @broadcastgeeks. Welcome to Episode 147 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Jeff and Nate) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. Word on the Comms is that nothing was accomplished this episode, however, if you are an ardent listener then you know that this is ALWAYS the case! We got a glimpse of the blue Genie that is Will Smith and started talking about that. As it normally goes in our conversation, we ended up a bit off track and discussed how Genies are created. Were they people that became a Genie, or are Genies their own race? Do you know any Genies that you could ask? You can guarantee that we will talk about our favorite topics, such as the upcoming Marvel movies. Captain Marvel is less than a month away, and despite silly fans trying to bomb review it, we believe its gonna be good. Especially when it leads into End Game which is what everyone is still talking about. DC has exciting news also, other than the upcoming Doom Patrol on DCU. Aquaman seems to not only be ruling the 7 seas, but definitely still the box office! John Stamos is our featured celebrity this week. Are you a fan of his work, both on screen and behind the drums? The Beach Boys were apparently. Too bad he was never a leading man, or was he? Let us know what you think! You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Welcome to Episode 146 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Jeff and Matt Orrin) are back in the Quantum Realm, under Mutiny Information Cafe, to discuss all things geek. We had to start on that Avengers teaser that was aired during the "Big Game" and was it a good one! Although, it left us wanting more...both visually, and informationally. We throw some theories around, maybe one of them will be right. We throw a potential "spoiler" out there while Mitch covers his ears, but it isn't confirmed or even that big of a deal. Next, we jump to the DCU which is still our favorite streaming service. We are pumped for the next round of Young Justice episodes, slated for June, as well as the Doom Patrol. This led us to talk about the DCEU, which confirmed that Batfleck is out and someone new will enter the fray, possibly younger. As much as we liked Batfleck, which oddly enough we did, we are excited for a younger iteration of the Dark Knight. Maybe DC will realize that it's streaming service can blur the lines between TV and movies, eliminating the need for huge star power. We started talking about different shows and movies, such as the Ted Bundy documentary. Apparently, Jeff shouldn't have watched it alone and he recommends you avoid doing the same. He also told us about Russian Dolls, which is kind of like Happy Death Day. We talked about Y:The Last Man being made into a show on FX. Then, for some of our long time listeners we tried talking about Star Trek. Unfortunately, the Geeks that were in attendance havent watched the new Star Trek, so we talked about Orville instead. Essentially, Seth McFarland redid Star Trek and added some humor. Isn't that good enough? You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Welcome to Episode 141 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, ALL of the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin) are joined by Jeremy Pysher and are in the Quantum Realm, located below Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. Another episode and we are still talking Titans! We see the history of Hank and Dawn as they share a tragedy. We see a lot more than that, in fact...its more like Hank and Dong! This was a real dark episode, showing Hank take one for the team to protect his younger brother Donny from a preying, pedophile Gym Teacher. This could help explain some of Hank's aggression. The episode ends with Rachel calling out to them from inside their dreams. We know Trigon is coming. What does this spell for our heroes? Speaking of heroes, James Gunn is producing a new film that looks like a horror version of the Superman origin. This seems very exciting for some of us. We talked about different kinds of superhero films, such as Super (directed by James Gunn) with Rainn Wilson. I guess Gunn is into the darker side of superpowers. Idols. Do you have one? We talked about some of ours and how we acted when we met them. Sometimes, you lose control of things when you meet them. For example, Jeff stiff armed Nickelback singer, Chad Kroeger, when he met Sammy Hagar. It's probably ok, since it is Nickelback. Pysher told us about how he met Macauly Culkin, which must have been an interesting meeting. We talk a little bit of Kevin Bacon, and some of his better films. Honestly, they are all pretty good. How many degrees of Kevin Bacon do you have? Jeff talked about how there was nothing to do in his hometown except go to see the movie She's Having a Baby. That was the only film in town for middle schoolers. Finally, we talked Elseworlds...how could we not?? The CW is establishing themselves as WAY better than DC films when it comes to delivering what we want to see. Our favorite DC heroes encounter, and enlist, Batwoman and Superman in their quest to stop Dr. John Deegan from changing reality and becoming a god. But a more serious threat, or Crisis, is imminent. We talked about how DC TV is matching Marvel with their output, obviously not on a grand scale, and making fans real happy. However, Mitch has problems with some of their animation. Listen to find out which ones the mild, mannered, Geek can't stand. You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Follow us on Twitter @broadcastgeeks. Welcome to Episode 140 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, ALL of the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin) are joined by Carlos Madrid and are back in the space formerly inhabited by Sexpot Comedy, right above Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. We talked more Titans, because it SO GOOD!! Seriously, this show has been delivering each week and it's gonne suck when the season is done. Will Dick become Nightwing this season? Who is the big bad? Did Starfire just kill Raven? We assume the answer to that one is no, but the show made it seem like its a possibility. This last episode introduced Wonder Girl, Donna Troy, and mentioned both Wonder Woman and the Justice League. We're also excited for the upcoming CW crossover event, Elseworlds, which will introduce some new characters such as Batwoman and Lois Lane. We know a little about the crossover, and talk as in depth as possible. We also got news that they casted the role of Renee Montoya (aka the Question) in the new Birds of Prey movie filming next year. Hopefully, DC can start making movies as good as their TV. Marvel, on the other hand, has no problem with their movies. The new Captain Marvel trailer just dropped and we paused recording to watch it. We've all seen it multiple times since because it looks real good. We talk more about the character that Jude Law is playing, which is not the possibly hinted at Mar-vell. Unfortunately, they wont be including any of the Netflix characters especially since Daredevil was just cancelled. That leaves Punisher and Jessica Jones, both of which will probably be cancelled after their next seasons. If they ever did use those characters, would they recast them? We hope not with some, especially Punisher. It almost Christmas time, and Duck Tales (Woo Ooo) just had a great Christmas episode. Turns it that Scrooge doesn't hate Christmas, its just his only day off each year and he wants to unwind with his buds, which happen to be the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. This brought up everyones favorite version of the Christmas Carol. Some say Scrooged, others say the Mickey Mouse version. What is your definitive version? We ended with discussion on the Caped Crusader, and his fighting prowess. We wondered if Dick has ever fought Batman for any reason and, if so, could he beat Batman? Could Batman beat Daredevil, or even Iron Fist, in a fight? Listen and find out our thoughts! You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Welcome to Episode 139 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the trio of Geeks (Jeff, Jake and Matt Orrin) are joined by Carlos Madrid and are back in the space inhabited by Sexpot Comedy, right above Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. It's all about Titans again this week as this show continues to rock! We're seeing a much darker Dick Grayson work his anger out, and get him closer to Nightwing. We don't know if he'll change during this season, but it is definitely going to happen at some point. The upcoming (current?) episode will introduce Donna Troy. We discuss her place in the world of DC, and how she compares to her more "adult" counterpart, Wonder Woman. We also talk about the upcoming Swamp Thing as this remains high on our interest list. We then talk about Venom and its worldwide financial success, especially for not being the next movie released in the last few years. It's getting close to hitting $1billion!! What does that mean for Spiderman going away from Sony and back to Marvel? Well, it doesn't look that good. If they can make a Spidey related movie, WITHOUT Spiderman, with this much success then who knows what they will continue to do. The new Spiderman game came up next and it is so much fun. Do you prefer to play games on Console or PC? This could be a hotbed topic for the Geeks! The CW-verse takes over the discussion next, and we talked about our favorite shows right now. Arrow seems to be atop the heap for another week. We're ALL anticipating the upcoming crossover event, Elseworlds, especially with the new trailer CW released. We cannot wait to see Batwoman make her appearance. Legends of Tomorrow, while not part of the crossover, is also worth the watch. They have been doing a lot of fun, magical, stuff. We finish up with Sylvester Stallone and the next Rocky based movie, Creed 2. This movie appears to be a double sequel, one to Rocky 4 and also to the first Creed movie. Regardless, we're pretty excited to see Dolph Lundgren once again on the screen, big or little. We started naming our favorite Sly films, as there are plenty of really good ones. Which is your favorite? You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com. Follow us on Twitter @broadcastgeeks. Welcome to Episode 138 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the a trio of Geeks (Jeff, Jake and Matt Orrin) are back in the space inhabited by Sexpot Comedy, right above Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. Talk started with Titans, only available on the DC Universe streaming service. This show has been great and we talked a lot about it. The last episode featured Jason Todd, who appears to have some issues. Was he a rebound for Batman after Dick leaves him? We're looking forward to the Doom Patrol show, especially after their appearance on Titans. We're also looking forward to Swamp Thing, which could change EVERYTHING in the comic book world we all love. Will Constantine show up on the show? Will there be other magic users such as Zatanna? Guess we'll have to wait and find out. Talk of villians led us to the topic of modern day villians, such as Jeff Bezos. He appears to be our version of Lex Luthor, bald head and all! Hopefully, Elon Musk doesn't follow suit and continues to do the cool things he is doing. Someone will need the resources to take down Bezos, and Elon could be the one to do it. Speaking of villians, we switched over to the topic of Gifted and some of its high profile characters such as Lorna aka Polaris. As the daughter of Magneto, will she take on his mantle? Word is that she will put on the cool Magneto helmet. Also, can the Strucker dad burn himself with his lava hands? We talked about whether or not mutants can be effected by their own powers. What are your thoughts? Next up we talk about the CW shows, with Arrow still being on top. Though, how does "evil" Laurel know how to do her job of DA? She wasnt a lawyer, so is it something anyone can do? We also talked about Curtis, aka Mr. Terrific, and how terrific his balls are. His character is starting to get good again. The other shows have been pretty good, with Black Lightning really turning it up. Our featured actor this week was John Ritter, starting with his role in the original IT. He was a very underappreciated actor and had some really good roles. Then we were all over the board talking about Agents of Shield, Flash Gordon, and Harry Potter. Give it a listen and tell us what you think. Welcome to Episode 137 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake and Matt Orrin) are back in the space inhabited by Sexpot Comedy, right above Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. The Man known for bringing us many of our favorite Marvel comic book characters, Stan Lee, has finally left this mortal coil. He passed away on the day we recorded this episode, and we gave him a rightful tribute. We talked about our favorite characters, his impact on the comic world, and which was his best Marvel movie cameo. Which is your favorite? We also talked about the haters out there, those that talk trash about him. We acknowledge that some people, such as Steve Ditko, might have gotten a raw deal. No one is perfect, especially Stan Lee, but his contributions cannot be ignored. Afterwards, we went to our usual discussions about what we are watching. Gifted has been pretty great lately, with a loss of a pretty cool character. The CW shows have been good also, though it is hard to imagine that Arrow is top of the heap again! Even though it isn't on CW, Sabrina is tied to the universe. They have been getting some heat lately as the Satanic Temple is suing them over use of a statue. Disney is still working on their streaming service, set to release next year. It sounds like their programming is gonna be pretty nuts! Star wars shows, Marvel shows featuring Loki and Scarlet Witch. Sounds like one more service we'll need to be subscribers of! In the meantime, Disney has new Duck Tales episodes available and they are HIGHLY recommended. That show is so good for all ages, and hopefully they'll put it on the streaming service. Speaking of streaming services, DC Universe has been killing it lately. The live action Titans show has been a lot of fun, and a little dark. This last episode introduces a NEW Robin, presumably Jason Todd. We cannot wait to see how the two Robins interact. Will Dick finally take on the mantle of Nightwing, or does he still need time? If you haven't watched the show yet, you really should. They also introduced the Doom Patrol, who are set to get their own show. We finish up with movie talk starting with Creed 2, the next movie in the Rocky universe. How many Rocky movies does that make it? We list them all, as well as our favorite parts and also our favorite of the movies. Do you prefer Rocky 3, with Clubber Lang, or Ivan Drago, in Rocky 4? We also talk about the next monster movie in the making, Godzilla vs King Kong. That should be very exciting! Welcome to Episode 136 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, the full assemblage of Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Nate, Jake and Matt Orrin) are in the nether region of Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. Daredevil is out on Netflix, and more of us have been watching. We talk more about the second season, focusing on the great acting and choreography. The Marvel Netflix shows have great villains and supporting characters. Speaking of supporting characters, Dave Bautista has done an awesome job, especially as Drax in Guardians. He was also a real good wrestler and apparently a really cool, shy, guy as demonstrated on a different podcast some of us listen to. We started talking about other wrestlers and how they came off in their day. Whats your oldest memory of wrestlers when you first started following? Possibly as a sign of the times, WE Geeks got political. Do you think its OK that the WWE is still doing their show in Saudia Arabia? We talk about the possible implications. Tell us what you think. Our TV shows are back in full swing, and we talked about them. John Constantine, played by actor Matt Ryan, is starting to shine for DC. He's a regular on Legends of Tomorrow, and he's doing the voice for animated shows. Will he appear on the new Swamp Thing show, soon to hit the DC Universe service? Will they connect those shows to the CW? Stay tuned to find out! If you haven't already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Welcome to Episode 135 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Nate, Jake and Matt Orrin) are joined by Monica Nevi, a comic and film maker based out of Los Angeles, at the Sexpot Comedy Studios located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe for another packed episode of geeky goodness. Monica, much like Jeff, is a big basketball fan so we talked a lot about the NBA and the WNBA. We talked about the greatness of old teams, the movement of teams like the Seattle Supersonics, and her documentary webseries 80 for 80. On it, she interviews octogenarians with sports related questions. Well, you can't talk about sports, like basketball, without mentioning Space Jam. Monica shared her favorite line from that movie, which involved a conversation between Bill Murray and Michael Jordan. Could we see more basketball related movies, or TV shows? Maybe we could get a new channel, such as The CWNBA? Daredevil season 3 has been released on Netflix and the man with no fear definitely doesn't disappoint this time around, neither does Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. This all happened at the same time that Netflix dropped Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, from their roster of shows. The last came as a surprise to all, and we throw our thoughts out on why this happened. Is it because of Disney releasing their own streaming service in the near future? Does it have to do with ratings? Listen to find out. Matt Orrin just got back from the Telluride Horror Show, a horror film festival set in one of the most beautiful parts of Colorado, and talks about the fun times he had. He met Stephen Chiodo, director of Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and even hung out with him over the weekend. They were Festies! There were a lot of fun, and some scary, movies at the fest and they talked about one call Mega Time Squad, which allows a person with the cursed amulet to create a copy of himself and go back in time. Not exactly like Madrox, the Multiple Man, but that led to interesting conversations about him. How many copies can he make of himself, and does he lose strength and power with each copy? If you could copy yourself, how many would YOU need to get through each day? We put the magic number at around 3-4 copies. We finish up with the regular topics, such as CW shows, comic books, new movies, and Clint Howard. We also talk about the new Halloween movie, which Nate saw and enjoyed. He talks about it but there are no big spoilers. If you havent already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Welcome to Episode 134 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Geeks (Mitch, Jake and Matt Orrin) are joined by Apples, a Comedian from northern Colorado, at the Sexpot Comedy Studios located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. Venom is in theatres and some of us went to see it with funny man Apples. Can they make an entertaining, functional Spider-man based "villian" film without the webslinging hero? It appears that they did! We all pretty much liked it, though it had some trouble spots. It seemed no one dug the Eminem song at the end, but you decide for yourself. However, it is top of the box office for two weeks in a row, so it might have staying power...like a turd in the wind. We couldn't just talk about Venom, as there is a WHOLE world of content out there! Some of it is spooky, like clowns. We talked about that clown from Poltergeist and Apples taking Mitch ghost hunting. Listen to hear what they found on their hunt. We also created a new show, Poltergeists & Pies which has the participant baking for a spirit, trying to figure out what baked good they might want. Onto the DC Universe, we talked about the new Aquaman trailer and Jake noticed Sea Bikers, riding on giant sea horses. Fins of Anarchy! Also, James Gunn seems to be coming over to DC to work on Suicide Squad. This could be very exciting if it really happens. Titans is now officially out on DC Universe streaming service, so make sure to check THAT out! Apples is apparently a big Transformers fan, from back in the day, so we needed to talk about that Bumblebee trailer. Its weird having a movie about a peripheral character, but we will say that the old-school look of robots was great! Bumblebeem, Soundwave and Optimus Prime look like they should, and that makes this very exciting. The original Michael Bay Transformers movies have merit but this new movie seems to lack the Bay-os of those films. If you havent already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Welcome to Episode 133 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Geeks (Mitch, Nate, Jake and Matt Orrin) recorded at the Sexpot Comedy Studios, located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. The conversation always seems to come back to Batman. We brought up the Dark Knight multiple times on this episode, in different contexts. I guess with him exposing himself in comics, he is BIG news! Though you might see the Bat-dong in comics, you definitely won't see it in the new Titans show coming to our new favorite streaming service, DC Universe. However, it appears that Batman will appear in the show and we saw pics of his potential suit. We're excited for Titans, especially since we know that Dick Grayson meets Jason Todd. Can there be two simultaneous Robins in the Bat-world? Speaking of Batman (see??), we've been watching more of Batman: Brave and the Bold. That show is awesome, as is Diedrich Bader's voice work. The format of the show and the characters really make it excel. Is it as good as the Animated Series? Some would say it is, but in a different way. BTW, you can catch Batman:TAS on DC Universe in HD, along with a bunch of really cool stuff. We talked more about the old Flash show and then into which is our favorite Flash? Do you prefer Barry Allen on the CW, Wally West from the Justice League cartoon, or even Wally from Young Justice? There are many to choose from in the Multiverse...what's YOUR choice? Our TV shows are coming back soon, with Gifted already out. Things are getting hot on that show, and we suspect they might do a House of M type situation. It also seems that the Dad is getting his powers back and, since he is a Von Strucker, he could be pretty powerful. The CW shows are back in October, and the this year's crossover, called Elseworlds, sounds like it will be AMAZING!! We should see Batwoman, Lois Lane, and Superman and Nora Fries (wife of Dr. Freeze)! Stay tuned for that to drop in early December. Looking for good shows to binge on Netflix? American Vandal sounds real good, and Jake speaks highly of it especially the second season. The first season is about a film crew solving the mystery of a vandal that draws dicks everywhere, and the second season is about the Mad Pooper, someone who commits a prank that forces the whole school to have bad diarrhea at the same time causing a panic. Maybe they did it for revenge? Watch to find out. Speaking of revenge, Nate talks about Mandy, the new Nicholas Cage film. He highly recommends it. Welcome to Episode 132 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the Geeks (Mitch, Jeff, Jake and Matt Orrin) recorded at the Sexpot Comedy Studios, located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. Batman was a HUGE part of our conversation this week, specifically his lower region. A new iteration of Batman, geared towards a slightly more mature audience, features the Bat-dong and Jake tells us how big it is. He makes it seem as if it was as big as Dr. Manhattan's in the Watchmen movie, but hopefully it's not blue. Imagine the cod piece he'd have to wear. Fortunately, he has Wayne Tech to create all of the goodies he needs to fight crime. Especially when its criminals that use THAT technology to commit the crime! Then again, he couldn't be his best with his trusty manservant, Alfred. Matt Orrin thinks Batman could never marry another person because he already has a life partner in Alfred. What are your thoughts? We then talked some Superman, because of the rumors that Henry Cavill is moving on from DCEU. Nothing has been confirmed, except that negotiations regarding a cameo in the upcoming Shazam movie aren't working. There have also been talks about Michael B. Jordan possibly being cast as the Man of Steel. We think Jon Hamm would make a good Superman, but it would depend on what timeline we are looking at and the context. Michael b Jordan casting rumors. The DCUniverse streaming app is in FULL effect and we are loving it! So much old content that is now available, like the Justice League and JL Unlimited animated shows. The Captain Marvel teaser/trailer was just released and it got us very excited. We saw some Skrulls, a young two-eyed Nick Fury, and Agent Coulson!! We still don't know a lot about what will happen in this movie, or who Jude Law will portray. Some think he could be Mar-vell, but we'll have to wait till March 2019. We also need to know how this movie will tie in to the upcoming Infinity War movie. We heard Taika Waititi was on set for reshoots...Korg?! As usual, Marvel talks lead us to Netflix and their related shows. We discussed Iron Fist, season 2, and Jake felt it left a bad taste similarly to the show, the OA. What will happen to the future of these shows, and which new shows will be introduced? When will we ever see these characters in the larger MCU? Will Netflix ever give up these properties? We do know the Loki and Scarlett Witch are supposed to get their own show, but on an upcoming Disney streaming service. Is everyone getting a streaming service? Stay tuned for more info on the soon to be released Streaming Geeks service. This weeks featured celebrity was Diedrich Bader, as we discussed his best roles. He was a great Batman, he was awesome in Office Space, and great as Oswald Lee Harvey on the Drew Carey show. What's your favorite role of his? We then talked about old TV shows, as they are becoming much accessible on the many streaming services available to us, like Hulu or CBS. We love to watch old superhero shows such as the Flash, whose costume then might be better than the current one. Its always great when actors from these old shows appear in the new shows. DC, and especially CW, has been really good about including old actors, such as John Wesley Shipp, Helen Slater, Dean Cain, Mark Hamill and many others. Do you have a favorite? If you havent already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Welcome to Episode 131 of Broadcast Geeks! As usual, talk of who owns what property was discussed, specifically Sony. We talked about their properties moving forward, starting with the new Venom movie coming out. Will Spiderman, or even just Tom Holland appear in the film? Are they going to connect to other characters down the line, or will their movies just be "Like a Turd in the Wind", so says our eponymous anti-hero. This goes along with the 3rd Wave of Geek, as Marvel gets ready to end their phase of movies. Sure, some characters will stick around but it seems that the stories will revolve around a different set of heroes, such as Captain Marvel. We are ALL super excited for Brie Larson to kick ass as the hero to save all heroes...hopefully she can shoulder that responsibility. Barbie, Ken, and He-Man must be excited because Mattel has their own film division, just as Sony lost the rights to those properties...can't get away from this topic! Hopefully, a new He-Man movie is made and Dolph Lundgren will appear in it, though not necessarily as the title character. The topic of conversation meandered its way, to old TV shows and whether or not they hold up. The Drew Carey show DOES hold up and, in fact, has gotten better with time. They were ahead of the curve as far as content goes and could probably still do well if it came out today. They DID have a huge cast of funny, and successful, people. Cleveland Rocks! Why do people love the Big Bang Theory? Why does Mitch Hate it? We talked about that polarizing show, because its been around a while and despite the vitriol many have towards it, there are LOTS of people that loved it. It's one of those shows that appeals to a certain set of geeks and non-geeks, but not all. Are you a fan? Not much in casting news except Timothy Dalton, one-time James Bond, has been cast in the new Doom Patrol show which will premiere on the new DCUniverse service, coming out Sept. 15, though the show probably won't arrive till October. Gifted, season 2, should hit TV within the next few weeks and it sounds like its going to be a fun season. Speaking of fun, Disenchantment has been a delightful show to watch with great voice actors lending their talents. If you haven't watched it yet, check it out. We talk about Luci, the demon, that looks like a cat. Does it look like a cat to you? Funny man Kyle Kinane is in a new show called Paradise PD, along with Dana Snyder and a bunch of other funny people, that Jake talks about. We finish up with Bruce Willis movies, and whether or not they are good. Some actors you like, or dislike, but cannot help liking their movies. Tom Cruise can be very unlikeable, but his movies are not. Bruce Willis, however, doesn't seem to have animosity towards him and many of his movies are enjoyable, whether or not they are actually good. One of the Geeks hated the Fifth Element...listen to find out which one! If you havent already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Welcome to Episode 130 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week the FULL assemblage of Geeks recorded at the Sexpot Comedy Studios, located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. We started off talking about the upcoming DCU, which is available to everyone on September 15th. We have high expectations for this network, based on all the cool shows being advertised, and even though their movie output has been "slightly" disappointing. Hopefully Aquaman is good enough to ease the load that Wonder Woman has been carrying for DC! Out of curiousity, what Frat would you be a part of if YOU were at DCU? Listen for our choices. Who is in the new Star Wars movie?? Yes, Doctor Who Matt Smith was cast a role in the upcoming Episode IX movie. We'll continue to speculate his purpose until we find out for sure. Since we're already talking Star Wars, Baker gets us caught up on some of his friends experiences at Dragon Con, which just wrapped up. Hey, remember Alf? He's back...in POG form. No, not really (yet?) but some of us watched episodes of the old Alf TV show and it still holds up! Regardless. it sounds like they are rebooting Alf, or at least bringing him back in some capacity. This led us to discussing the genius of Jim Henson, and the talented crew of puppeteers and writers that helped create the Muppet-verse. His contributions to the world could never be measured, or equalled. Can you imagine a gritty reboot of Super Gonzo? *fingers crossed* What's your favorite Schwarzenegger film? The list it great, it could be one of so many! Commando, Raw Deal, Last Action Hero, Kindergarten Cop or True Lies to name a few. If Predator is your choice, then get pumped up because there is a new Predator movie coming out which apparently features a super Predator. Stay tuned for more on that! Dormam-who? You know who, which leads us to wrapping up with the MCU, and the new phase after the upcoming Avengers movie. We speculate all night long, even after we're done with this recording. Why did Thanos come to Earth at this time? Was it because Odin finally died, along with some other key players in the MCU? Could he have used a different garment for the stones, such as an Infinity Boxers? They'd probably chafe a bit, and then what would he do to activite it? You can use your imagination. If you havent already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Welcome to Episode 129 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week we recorded at the Sexpot Comedy Studios, located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe, for another episode of geeky goodness. A shortened version of the Geeks (Matt, Mitch & Jake) talked about a bunch of different topics. despite our board not being very big. We started with heroes that are rich, like Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne. What would they be like if they were poor? Would Batman be the same, or would he not care about human life as much? Mitch talked about the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles and tried to convince Jake how good it is. FYI, they have new weapons that they found in the sewer that are magical Chinese weapons, and Splinter looks like a hamster despite being a rat. Makes sense to us too...NOT! Jake goes in depth on Preacher, almost convincing Matt to start watching again. Have you checked out the new dating app for vampires? Its called Fang-er and we think it'll be a huge success, despite early reviews saying it bites. We talked a little more about Picard and the new show about him. He says he won't be a captain, but nothing else has yet to be revealed, though that doesn't stop us from speculating. We finish with a breakdown of the long running show Red vs Blue, which should appeal to you Halo fans. We had lots of tag lines that could have potentially made the title, but this weeks title is the time stamp where we dropped our first F-bomb of the episode. We lost track of the others, as we work real hard to make our Pod radio friendly. Some runner ups were, (Superman plows Zod), (Teen Turtles Go), and (Bumcast Geeks). If you havent already checked out Denver Open Media, and what they have offered then go to https://www.denveropenmedia.org As you might already know, we'll be on Tuesday nights at 10pm. Welcome to Episode 128 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week we recorded at the Sexpot Comedy Studios, located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe, for another episode of geeky goodness. The Geeks (Nate, Matt, Mitch & Jake) talk about Deadpool 2, and how was Jake was into the extra footage version which he said was 4 hours long! Turns out, his copy had both versions and he was actually watching the theatrical version. Maybe next time he'll have watched the other version and can fill us ALL in! We continued to discuss the implications of Disney firing James Gunn, and whether or not Bautista can, or will, be replaced in the next installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. Do you think he can/will? We are all excited for the Batwoman news, with Ruby Rose being cast as the titular character, though we aren't sure if she will first be introduced on Arrow or just dropped into her own show. Who knows...maybe the DC Universe channel will finally drop and they'll do something there but we wont hold our breaths on that happening any time soon! Daredevil season 3 is apparently being dropped at the end of this year, which makes it 4 for 4 on Netflix Marvels shows in 2018. Is there a significance, and could it be related to Infinity War? We wont know until the end of this year, or if someone in the field spoils it for us. We also addressed the new Star Trek series, which will feature Patrick Stewart returning as Jean-Luc Picard but in WHAT capacity? Will he be an admiral? Will Worf and the others have appearances? Stay tuned for more! Most episodes of Broadcast Geeks are recorded at the Comedy RoomRoom inside of El Charrito at 2104 Larimer Street in the heart of Denver's ballpark neighborhood. Welcome to Episode 127 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week we recorded at the Sexpot Comedy Studios, located above the awesome Mutiny Information Cafe, for another episode of geeky goodness. The Geeks (Jeff, Matt, Mitch & Jake) talk through ALL kinds of tangents, starting with Avengers and time travel. That led to Ant-Man & the Wasp because of rumors about how they tie in to the next Avengers movie. Will it have something to do with the Quantum realm? Then we talked about the new Joker movie and the casting. Did you know DeNiro is slated to be in the movie? With Scorcese directing, we have suspicions as to how it will be and we think it might be like the Killing Joke. Also, with Marvel (Disney) getting back the X-Men and Fantastic Four movie properties, we have many ideas as to how the landscape will look in the next couple of years. A lot of this came on from Mitch's newly acquired sweet comic book collection, which included Captains Americas first appearance. We ended with the person that made us 'fanboy out' the most when we met them. Who was yours?
