El 1 de octubre de 1931, el Parlamento de la II República aprobaba el voto femenino en nuestro país, tras un arduo debate. España reconocía este derecho con algún retraso respecto a los países escandinavos, Rusia o Reino Unido, pero antes que otros de nuestro entorno, como Francia, Italia o Bélgica. Aunque la constitución republicana de 1931 incorporó el derecho al voto para toda mujer mayor de 23 años, el debate parlamentario dejó claras las enormes reticencias de la sociedad de la época a reconocer este derecho. Dificultades que se pusieron de manifiesto en el vivo enfrentamiento mantenido entre Clara Campoamor y Victoria Kent en la sesión parlamentaria. Mientras la primera propugnaba el voto femenino en contra del criterio de su partido, el partido Radical, Victoria Kent, diputada de la colación republicana y socialista y reconocida feminista, defendía que no era el momento de conceder ese derecho puesto que el voto de la mujer estaría influido por la Iglesia y los poderes conservadores, con lo que, finalmente, sería perjudicial para la propia República. Clara Campoamor logró imponer su criterio y el artículo quedó aprobado por 161 votos a favor, 121 en contra y 188 abstenciones. It is 1880 lumberman Barney Glasgow leaves his true love, saloon singer Lotta Morgan, to marry Emmie Hewitt, his boss’s daughter. His buddy Swan marries Lotta instead. Twenty-five years pass and married to Hewitt’s daughter Barney Glasgow’s success was certain and his advancement rapid. He’s the head of the firm now. He is sad when he hears of the loss of Lotta and eventually goes to visit Swan when he meets Swan and Lotta’s daughter who is the spitting image of her mother. Barney still in love with her mother finds himself falling in love with the young Lotta but Lotta falls in love with Barney’s son Bernie. Before the story producer Cecille B.
