Who doesn't love to doodle?Doodling is like a mind dump. A drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Popular doodles include cartoon versions of teachers (defiantly did this) or famous TV or comic characters, landscapes, geometric shapes, patterns, textures, or even phallic scenes!Meet Amy from @Loveto_doodle. She is a creative genius, who's mind totally baffles me.In a matter of weeks Amy will be stretching her creative force into the community of Portsmouth & Southsea. With the help of a group of local volunteers, Murals are being painted at 6 local venues. The @loveto_doodlecommunity has been set up to encourage, inspire and share creative arts with young teens 15-19yrs old and Adults with Learning Disabilities. As a MH Professional I know first hand that Art is a huge positive form of therapy and with a big MH focus since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, now more than ever we need to inspire everyone to keep a positive mindset and build creative outlets. Thank you to Amy & her colourful mind for giving the community this opportunity & reconnecting us with our creativities. Amy's parents created the highly acclaimed Sonlight homeschool curriculum and, for over 30 years they've had paid staff who prayed for every facet of their business, from customers to vendors. But it wasn't until they hired an intercessor (yes, a paid intercessor) that they saw their business explode. The results were so remarkable that Amy collaborated with the intercessor they hired and co-founded Workplace Prayer. Whether this strikes you as "odd" or not, you owe it to yourself to hear her story. Bottom line: prayer works. Summary: Elementary classrooms are notorious for cute, colorful decor and fun little projects that supplement our content, but that often comes with a cost in terms of sustainability. Today I'm interviewing Amy Louise Davis, of Alou Artist, all about how we can reduce “throw away culture” in our classrooms while also supporting mindfulness and creativity in our students. Amy is a textile artist and embroiderer who is fascinated by pattern and sculpture. Influenced by environmental and social issues, she created alou in 2013 to tackle throw away culture. With a particular interest in repurposing often overlooked, pre-loved materials, she uses her skills in sculpting and embroidery to conceptualize and design beautiful new artifacts. Amy has also found a strong connection in the relationship between sustainability and mindfulness, which she shares with us today along with project ideas we can easily incorporate into our classrooms, Links and resources: Meet Amy on her website alou.co.uk or follow her on Instagram @alouartist, where she shares plenty of Reels and IGTV episodes offering tutorials for creative repurposing. Follow along with the ideas and tutorials in her campaign, MendNotTrend.com, and share your own contributions using the hashtag #MendNotTrend on Instagram and Twitter Check out the incredible cacti sculptures Amy mentions in the show here. Be sure to follow along on Instagram, where I'll be sharing my takeaways and applications from this conversation as I set up my new classroom: @appleblossomteachers For current resources and updates, check out my website. Meet Amy and Annie; Bondi girls and surfing rebels. They weren’t always Bandits. But, while out looking to buy surf rashies for their kids, they noticed something very ’un-bandit'... there were only really two colours. Blue for boys, and pink for girls. So, while out on their boards waiting for the next wave, they decided to do something about it. They decided to bring cool, unisex and sustainable surfing apparel to the children’s surf industry. They decided to be Bandits. Bondi Bandits are on a mission. Actually...we’re on quite a few missions. Firstly.. we believe the ocean doesn’t care if you’re a boy or a girl. That’s why our Rashies are Unisex, designed to be worn by anyone. Secondly.. if you’re in the ocean, you should be looking after it. Our Rashies are made from discarded and recycled fishing nets. Instead of catching fish...they’re now catching waves. And wouldn’t you know it, our Swim Bags are also 100% recyclable too. Finally... we reckon even a start-up business like ourselves should be striving to leave a positive impact. That’s why we’re immensely proud to support Free to Shine, a charity fighting to put Cambodian girls in schools, and out of brothels. With every purchase you make - you’re supporting them too.

Meet Amy, a mom of three and writer at Carried By Hope, who discovered her husband had an affair while deployed. They were living abroad at the time and spend months working towards reconciliation. Several months later, her husband had another affair and asked for her to leave. Amy and her kids came back to the United States for the summer and ended up moving in with her parents to start their new life when her husband asked for a divorce. Amy says life was surreal and she felt like a failure. She describes divorce as “a lot like death, but with no real closure” and found comfort in hymns, scripture, and a divorce group. James Dobson’s book Love Must Be Tough helped her to find healthy perspective. Since becoming a single parent, Amy spends time journaling all of the ways that their needs have been met. Her favorite story came from when she went back to school and didn’t have the money she needed for textbooks: she gave the money she had as a gift to her church and, on the way out, was given a financial gift that covered her needs. When it comes to other people facing infidelity and divorce, she wants people to know “you’re not alone. It feels very lonely…but you’re not alone…The end of your marriage is not the end of your happily ever after.” Amy's Answers to the Fun Questions: • What are you loving right now? Hamilton soundtrack • What’s your favorite meal right now? A good burger with sweet potato fries (especially at any local place) • What are you doing to take care of yourself? Taking Sundays off • What are you doing to be brave?
