If anyone would‘ve hinted at Obsequiae and Inexorum combining forces in a new band, Majesties brand of 90s loving meloswedeath would not have been the first assumption. Yet, here we are on the eve of Vast Reaches Unclaimed (20 Buck Spin) and it's an absolute beast of an album full of everything fans loved about that timeframe in melodic death metal. It's almost as if these guys wrote the next chapter of the genre and the past twenty five years never happened. Buke recently sat down with Matthew Kirkwold (bass), Carl Skildum (guitars), and Tanner Anderson (guitars, vocals, drums) to get the lowdown on this new band and album, how it came to be, and so much more. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat, and enjoy. 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram.
Continuing our un-intentional theme for this Black Metal January, this week's selection isn't quite exactly black metal, though frankly the boys hardly talk about it anyway. This week: Triarchy of the Lost Lovers by Rotting Christ.
Founding member/vocalist of one of the founding fathers of Sweden's incredible Melodeath scene Soilwork, Björn "Speed" Strid sat down to have a chat with Metal V about their stellar new album Övergivenheten, still being relevant after nearly three decades of musical creation and vision, their influence on both old and new metal bands as well as finding new ways to reniterpret themselves. Their style of writing and delivery of a genre that Soilwork helped to spawn plus much more as well as playing some of Soilwork's finest songs both past and present.

I'm sick this week, so excuse the voice and rambling. But hey, rambling makes for a fun podcast! Specifically, we ramble about promos that get sent out way too early, bands that lose their spark over time, and those weren't even really topics we intended to discuss! But we also talk about new music, like Tesseract, Augury, Augury, Barren Earth, Howling Sycamore, and Glorior Belli. We also speculate about The Safety Fire and Psyopus making comebacks. Finally, Apple Music surpassing Spotify in the US. In cool people time we talk mostly Altered Carbon, light spoilers included. Enjoy!
Lewis and Alan get down (under) with an Aussie melodeath masterpiece. Our intro and outro music was provided by Daniel Williamson. You can keep in touch with us at http://castironshow.co.uk/ and @castironshow on Twitter.
