Send us a textSt. Louis-based metalcore act dead7 is poised to break through in a major way with the release of their highly anticipated debut album, LOVE WHAT YOU CAN WHILE YOU GOT SOMETHING LEFT TO LOVE, arriving July 11, 2025 via SharpTone Records. Known for their emotionally charged blend of heavy grooves, ambient textures, and bold vulnerability, the five-piece continues to turn heads with a sound that fuses brutal honesty and melodic hooks in equal measure.Composed of Jason Kozik (vocals), Dexter Greer (guitar), Tim Quinn (guitar), Stephen Salyer (bass), and Zach Guinn (drums), dead7 crafts music that leans into both atmospheric metal and alternative rock, while unafraid to explore the depths of love, loss, and internal conflict. Their debut album captures that duality perfectly—one moment it's a crushing wall of sound, the next a moment of haunting introspection.“We keep people guessing,” frontman Jason Kozik shared. “The new material is heavy, but we emphasized the hooks. We tried to make sure our songs resonate. In terms of the content, we focused on love, relationships, and things that are often tough to say.”After gaining traction through powerful singles like “tape mouth” and “heaven only knows” (featuring Nathan Johnson of Fox Lake), dead7 began to find their footing on the live circuit, including festival slots at POINTFEST alongside acts like Bad Omens, The Pretty Reckless, and Coheed and Cambria. The momentum caught the attention of SharpTone Records, who signed the band in late 2024.Heading back into the studio with trusted collaborators Caleb Freihaut and Ben McGuiness, dead7 shaped a record that reflects not only their evolution as a band but their refusal to be boxed in. Touchstones like Loathe, Bring Me The Horizon, and Three Days Grace inspire the record's push-and-pull between chaotic energy and accessible melody.Tracks like “BLUR” showcase that duality immediately, with its vocoder-drenched verses giving way to explosive choruses. “It incorporates a lot of what dead7 is,” Kozik explained. “Lyrically, it's a view of trying to navigate life with everything going on... in our relationships, in our families, and in ourselves. It feels like a blur, and you're trying to survive.”Other album standouts include “HOLE,” a raw depiction of tension in a fractured relationship, and “PLEASE,” a cheeky-yet-intense track featuring Marcus Vik, where soaring melodies meet lusty lyricism and thunderous riffs. Kozik remarked, “We were making a joke about being kind of horny, and we tried to encapsulate it… It has www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. Baltimore, MD's NIGHT'S EDGE announces the release of their fourth studio album entitled “The World That Never Was” this coming August 21st, 2025 + New Music Video “If You Loved Me.”Night's Edge believes in creating music that has a purpose. There is no copy-cating of other artists, or following trends here – even the band's select cover tunes turn the originals on their heads. This is music that you can't get anywhere else, that has something to say, that is unique and exciting while still feeling familiar, like a friend finishing your sentences when you run out of words.Their fourth full-length, “The World That Never Was,” is a statement of songcraft and lyricism. The album flows and progresses clearly as it explores the concept of self-identity and the loss thereof. Moments of melancholy, anger, wonder, and plenty of crushing riffs elicit the stank face. Each single shows a different side of the album.“Someone to Stay” is a guitar-forward track with great leads, a killer solo, and very Queensryche-esque vocals. We gave ourselves a challenge for the live shows, and I (singer, Brian) curse myself for recording this song like this every time we play it live. Female February gets going in earnest for 2025 with the newest album from Poppy, Negative Spaces from 2024!
Roestig. This week: a sister-cast episode to a series we have called the Inbetweeners where we on the bands straddling the 80s and 90s in rock n' punk n' metal. This is more specific to metal in the 90s after feeling the impact of the overwhelming shifting of sounds during the decade. Metal became a dirty word by the mid-90s as grunge and alternative took over the rock world, but a new movement in the metal genre blended all of these influences with the heavy. Thus, we give you - 90s Alternative Metal! What's this InObscuria thing? Terrazas-González began developing his musical ability starting at the age of eleven. He was inclined to play the flute and the tenor saxophone with an understanding of classical music and a distinct attraction to jazz, and five years later chose to take on the clarinet. His grandmother, a "Danzón Nut" according to Terrazas-González, urged her grandson in that direction, but the young player was adamant towards a newfound paragon for himself: Hubert Laws. In May 2002 Terrazas-González was diagnosed with Cancer that spread to his stomach and abdomen, treatments included surgery and extensive radiation treatment to the stomach and abdomen. In 2004, he was declared cancer free and in the same year he joined the band The Mars Volta as a full-flesh member. Female February finishes up with the bizarre and eclectic The Above from Pittsburgh's Code Orange!
This week we pay homage to bands straddled the world of the 80s hard n' heavy and the 90s alternative n' grunge. These were bands that were somewhat outside of the status quo specifically in the hard rock and metal world that seemed to be playing music that was more genre and categorization-defying. Thus we created our own non-genre called; The Inbetweeners! What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we cover all 3 categories and even some bands that we played early on in the podcast. The transition from the hard rockin' 80s to the punk-edged alternative of the 90s was a time like no other, and some bands simply got caught in the middle. Go and check out these songs and the albums that they come from and enjoy some music from The Inbetweeners!
