Glorious St.Anne, we think of you as filled with compassion for those who invoke you and with love for those who suffer. Heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take the present affair which I commend to you under your special protection (name it/special intention).Deign to comment it to your daughter, our Blessed Lady, and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy conclusion. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face. With you and Mary and all the saints, may I praise and bless Him for all eternity. Amen.Good St.Anne, mother of Her who is our life, our sweetness and our hope, pray forme.Send us Fan MailSupport the show
Send us Fan MailG'day and welcome to the A Place to Call Home Podcast, a podcast sharing the stories of people building a life in agriculture across rural Australia. In this episode, I sit down with Mark Vass, a fifth-generation cane farmer from the Burdekin in North Queensland.Mark's journey into agriculture hasn't been a straight line.Starting out as a boilermaker, Mark spent time working across the country before jumping into running a music festival with his brother in his early 20s — an experience that taught him plenty about risk, business, and resilience.Like many people who grow up in the bush though, agriculture has a way of pulling you back. What started with a simple conversation with his dad eventually turned into leasing country, stepping into the family operation, and building his own farming business — all while continuing to grow and expand through diversification and business outside of agriculture. This is a conversation about taking risks, learning through failure, building from the ground up, and the importance of integrity, community, and backing yourself. In this episode, we chat about:

Long hidden in an attic, vivid and revelatory poems shine a new light on the life and loves of Iris Murdoch. In the dusty attic of Iris Murdoch's Oxford home lay a battered, black chest. In 2016, when the chest was finally opened, Murdoch's life in poems was revealed. Renowned for her fiercely intelligent novels and groundbreaking philosophy, Murdoch was one of the great writers of the twentieth century. Yet she is also known for her equally radical life – intense friendships, relationships with both men and women, and an open marriage – about which much has, often controversially, been written. Now, her tightly wrought and vivid poems reveal a new, deeply personal account in Murdoch's own voice. They range over the preoccupations closest to her heart, from the state of Ireland to memories of a first love lost in the Second World War.We speak to Dr Miles Leeson, one of the editors of Poems from an Attic by Iris Murdoch, to learn more about this exciting discovery and how it adds to our understanding of the work of the famous philosopher and novelist. Dr Leeson also reads three poems from the book, 'Reverie in Winchester Cathedral', 'I find that honesty is a hard thing', and 'Macaw in the Snow'. Dr Miles Leeson is Director of the Iris Murdoch Research Centre at the University of Chichester and Visiting Research Fellow at Kingston University. He is Lead Editor of the Iris Murdoch Review, Series Editor of Iris Murdoch Today with Palgrave Macmillan, host of the Iris Murdoch Podcast, and has published widely on Murdoch's work. He published Iris Murdoch: Philosophical Novelist in 2010, the edited collection Incest in Contemporary Literature (2018), the festschrift Iris Murdoch: A Centenary Celebration (2019), the co-edited collections Iris Murdoch and the Literary Imagination (2022) and Iris Murdoch and the Western Theological Imagination (2025), co-edited her selected poetry Poems from an Attic: Selected Poems 1936-1995 (2025), and is currently writing Visiting Mrs Bayley and Other Essays (2026) Iris Murdoch and Feminism and editing The Oxford Handbook of Iris Murdoch (2028).You can find out more about him and his work here:https://www.chi.ac.uk/people/miles-leeson/Iris MurdochIris Murdoch was born in Dublin in 1919. What happens when a teenage metalhead from a quiet Swedish suburb grabs a guitar, jumps on a local bus with his friends—and some of the biggest names in Scandinavian metal—and decides to rewrite the soundtrack of modern metal? On today's episode of Bringin' it Backwards, Adam and Tera Lisicky sit down with Mikael Stanne of legendary band Dark Tranquility for a candid, unfiltered look at three-plus decades in the scene, from cassette tape trading and fighting over synth vs. metal in the schoolyard, to accidentally inventing the “Gothenburg Sound” alongside fellow icons At the Gates and In Flames. Mikael shares why forming Dark Tranquility with neighborhood friends was more about escaping the ordinary than chasing fame, how those infamous bus rides into Gothenburg were basically a rolling summit of musical minds, and what it was really like to win a Swedish Grammy during the chaos of 2020 (spoiler: he had to text the band to tell them they'd won). Plus, hear how the band's 13th album, “End Time Signal,” came out of major lineup changes and a band-wide leap into the unknown. Whether you're a die-hard metal fan or just fascinated by artists who never stopped pushing forward, you'll want to catch every minute of this episode. St. Anne is a model for all mothers. She demonstrates what it means to make children into living tabernacles of the Holy Spirit. The degree of dedication it takes a carpenter or other craftsman to build a tabernacle is radically less than the commitment, care, and charity that all mothers are called upon to shape genuinely Catholic children. She is also a model of prayer and a witness to how God works in our lives to form our children with genuine Catholic virtues.

O Holy St. Anne and St. Joachim, faithful servants of God and loving parents of Our Blessed Mother Mary, we come before you today with hearts full of trust and devotion. You were chosen to nurture and raise Mary, preparing her to become the Mother of our Saviour. Intercede for us, that we too may grow in faith, patience, and love within our families and communities. Strengthen grandparents, parents, and all who guide the young, that they may be wise and gentle teachers of the faith. Watch over all families, protect them from harm, and help them to become holy homes of peace and grace. Through your powerful intercession, may we learn to walk humbly with God, and, like you, trust fully in His providence and mercy. Amen.

44 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.Simile est regnum caelorum thesauro abscondito in agro : quem qui invenit homo, abscondit, et prae gaudio illius vadit, et vendit universa quae habet, et emit agrum illum. 45 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.Iterum simile est regnum caelorum homini negotiatori, quaerenti bonas margaritas. 46 Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it.Inventa autem una pretiosa margarita, abiit, et vendidit omnia quae habuit, et emit eam. 47 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes.Iterum simile est regnum caelorum sagenae missae in mare, et ex omni genere piscium congreganti. 48 Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth.Quam, cum impleta esset, educentes, et secus littus sedentes, elegerunt bonis in vasa, malos autem foras miserunt. 49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just.Sic erit in consummatione saeculi : exibunt angeli, et separabunt malos de medio justorum, 50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.et mittent eos in caminum ignis : ibi erit fletus, et stridor dentium. 51 Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.Intellexistis haec omnia? Dicunt ei : Etiam. 52 He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old.Ait illis : Ideo omnis scriba doctus in regno caelorum, similis est homini patrifamilias, qui profert de thesauro suo nova et vetera.St Anne, the spouse of Joachim, was the mother of Our Lady and the grandmother of Our Lord. Devotion to St Anne has increased very much in the whole Church.

Dahlia has finally arrived in New Orleans, and she makes her presence known by possessing multiple civilians and giving a taste of her power in a fight at St Anne's. Dahlia's arrival prompts Elijah to have Josephine create a safe house at St James Infirmary for Hayley and Hope. Meanwhile, it encourages Jackson to come up with a stupid plan, which he loops Hayley into. Luckily, double agent Aiden was able to sabotage it quite easily. Meanwhile, Klaus teams up with his former opps Mikael and Davina to hijack Freya's tools for a weapon to kill Dahlia (which Dahlia promptly destroys). But Klaus comes up with a smart backup plan which also accomplishes one of his longtime goals….Remember to rate, review, and share, brothers!Follow us on Instagram and TikTok @doppelgangerspodcast!

"When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?' He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord you know that I love you.' He said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.' ” John 21:15 Submit a Podcast Listener Question HERE! Mary Mirrione joins us on the podcast to ponder the scripture from John 21 with Peter and Jesus. AUDIOBOOK: Audiobook – Now Available on Audible CGSUSA is excited to offer you the audio version of The Religious Potential of the Child – 3rd Edition by Sofia Cavalletti, read by Rebekah Rojcewicz! The Religious Potential of the Child is not a “how-to” book, complete with lesson plans and material ideas. Instead it offers a glimpse into the religious life of the atrium, a specially prepared place for children to live out their silent request: “Help me come closer to God by myself.” Here we can see the child's spiritual capabilities and perhaps even find in our own souls the child long burdened with religious information. This book serves as a companion to the second volume, The Religious Potential of the Child 6 to 12 Years Old. The desire to have this essential text available in audio has been a long-held goal for many. The work of many hands has combined to bring this release to life as an audiobook. IN THIS EPISODE: While rumors abound about St. Anne's Nunnery being haunted and a variety of stories can be found on the Internet, most have factual errors about the camp's history that bring into question the tales of ghosts, abortions and nuns drowning babies in the swimming pool. Every single one is just an urban legend… aside from one very disturbing true event. (Urban Legends And True Terrors of St. Anne's Nunnery) *** Where do urban legends come from? We'll look at some of the most famous ones, and the history behind them.
