We are joined for episode 132 by recorder player supremo Ian Wilson.Ian is the principal recorder professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the Head of Woodwind at Eton College and is the visiting recorder specialist at the North East of Scotland Music School in his hometown of Aberdeen. We were so pleased Ian agreed to come back to chat to us again having originally joined us last April. Due to various Three In A Bar style holdups we never managed to release that episode so have a brand shiny new chat with Ian for you!We talk to Ian about his extensive recorder selection, how the sound of a great recorder ensemble is definitely not what you remember from Primary School days but also a harrowing experience involving  hundreds of renditions of the Mexican Hat dance - something surely no one should ever have to experience? Ian demonstrates his quite astounding knowledge of bird song with a starting resemblance to a British countryside stalwart. We chat about the use of recorders in various film and TV scores and its renewed popularity. Anyone preparing for auditions listen up! Ian gives some excellent advice on preparations for scholarship or Music college auditions. He gives insightful information from a panelist's point of view - what they are looking for might not be what you'd think…To find out more about Ian take a look here; https://www.gsmd.ac.uk/staff/professor-ian-wilson-bmus-pgdipmus-lgsm-fhea You can find us on the socials here;Instagram @threeinabarpodTiktok @threeinabarpodThree In A Bar on YoutubeAnything you'd like to share with us? Billy Butcher has gone full T-800. More than we imagined, Ryan Butcher may be far more powerful than Homelander. We'll probably see you again to cover Gen-V as we transition into the New World Order before Season 5.

Steve Waller studies sound reverberations at rock art sites around the world. He calls the field archaeoacoustics. And he theorizes many sites, including here in Utah, were chosen because of their ability to reflect sound. Waller also applies his research to local mythologies, from ancient Europe to the Hopi, and finds that images can correlate with echo myths. Plus, cities across the country — but especially in Colorado's Front Range - are experiencing a housing crisis as rent outpaces wages. That's led to an increase in homelessness and stricter laws to punish activities associated with not having a home. This criminalization tends to funnel homeless into jail or the court system. But Boulder is trying a different approach — community court. // Show Notes: // Photo: The 'Kachina Petroglyph Panel' is seen near Mexican Hat, Utah. The Adventures of Harry Lime is an old-time radio programme produced in the United Kingdom during the 1951 to 1952 season. Orson Welles reprises his role of Harry Lime from the celebrated 1949 film The Third Man. The radio series is a prequel to the film, and depicts the many misadventures of con-artist Lime in a somewhat lighter tone than that of the film.---------------------------------------------------------------------------Entertainment Radio Stations Live 24/7 Sherlock Holmes/CBS Radio Mystery Theaterhttps://live365.com/station/Sherlock-Holmes-Classic-Radio--a91441https://live365.com/station/CBS-Radio-Mystery-Theater-a57491----------------------------------------------------------------------------

On our weekly roundup with The Times-Independent, reporter Carter Pape discusses the latest from local Black Lives Matter protests, to COVID-19 news, and more. First, locals have been demonstrating against police brutality in front of the Moab Information Center every night this week. A candlelight vigil was also held at Swanny City Park in memory of George Floyd, a Black man who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck for over eight minutes. And then, a state commission recommends that Governor Gary Herbert move Utah to the ‘Green’ or ‘New Normal’ COVID-19 health risk phase as soon as possible. Plus, Grand County’s Class of 2020 celebrates a graduation unlike any other. **UPDATE** On June 5th, Governor Gary Herbert extended the current health risk guidance for the state. Salt Lake City, Bluff, and Mexican Hat remain in the Orange/Moderate Risk status, and the rest of the state remains Yellow/Low Risk. His decision departs from a state commission recommendation this week urging Utah to move to a modified ‘Green’ or ‘New Normal’ status as rapidly as possible. Herbert’s decree to formally extend the state’s existing health guidance will run through at least next Friday, June 12. Another exciting episode! Our last episode left off at Angel Peak, New Mexico. It was time to cross into Utah. Our first stop was Bluff, Utah. Robert had heard about the little town and wanted to stop. We were impressed with their little downtown. For such a tiny town, it has a lot to offer. We were quite impressed with Fort Bluff, the visitor center, crafting area, and wonderful film showing how the fort was founded. After our fort tour, we needed to find a campsite. Our sites were set on Valley of the Gods. But the rain was coming. Instead of going right to the Valley of the Gods, we hung out in Mexican Hat hoping for the rain to pass. We got bored, so we drove around Monument Valley then back toward Valley of the Gods. Before we began looking for our campsite for the evening, we decided to go up and down the Moki Dugway. It looked intimidating by the pictures we saw before coming, but when we actually drove it, it wasn't so bad. That’s even after the rain and there were some washed out areas. We found our campsite in Valley of the Gods and stayed there for two days enjoying the peacefulness and the amazing view. We then explored and stayed at the Muley Point area. Robert took early morning photos as the sun was rising. Beautiful! Then we were off to Arizona to attend Overland Expo West 2019. Before we arrived to the Expo, we stayed at Marshall Lake outside of Flagstaff.
