Slam The Gavel welcomes Steve DeVore, Travis Nicholson and Terri Parker to the podcast. They came on to discuss a young man sitting in jail, on taxpayer dollars for a false accusation made during divorce. The mayhem began in January of 2021 when Jamey DiDomenico, a loving DAD and devoted husband suddenly discovered incriminating text messages on an iPad that their four year-old had been using. The messages from an unknown man suggested an affair between Jamey's wife and one of her alleged clients. Troubled, Jamey photographed the messages and confronted his wife. She denied the allegations and instantly asked for a divorce. Days before their divorce depositions, she ACCUSED Jamey of SA. The accusation triggered a dangerous chain of events. His wife obtained an order of protection, citing UNFOUNDED fears, which led to Jamey being thrown out of his home with only 30 minutes to gather his belongings. Jamey and his son, from a previous relationship, were barred from returning and Jamey also lost custody of his daughter. By November 23rd, 2023, Jamey went to trial on the false charges. DESPITE 125 letters attesting to his honesty and character and the presence of over 150 SUPPORTERS in court, the trial was held in the SAME courthouse where his ex-wife practiced law. THIS RESULTED IN A WRONGFUL CONVICTION. No evidence of violence was presented, only conflicting accounts, but the judge sentenced Jamey to 10 years WITHOUT parole. With a background that stretches from sweaty summer lawn jobs to making big moves in the flooring industry, Sean DeVore has seen just about every angle of building a career from the ground up. He grew up surrounded by hard workers and picked up early on the importance of discipline, setting goals, and sticking to personal basics—think tidy presentation, a solid work ethic, and never shying away from a challenge. In this NBN episode, host Hollay Ghadery speaks with John Devore about his phenomenal memoir, Theatre Kids: A True Tale of Off-Off Broadway (Applause, 2024). Friendship. Grief. Jazz hands. In 2004, in a small, windowless theater in then-desolate Williamsburg, Brooklyn, an eccentric family of broke art-school survivors staged an experimental, four-hour adaptation of William Faulkner's novel As I Lay Dying inside an enormous wooden coffin that could barely fit the cast, much less an audience. The production's cast and crew—including its sweetly monomaniacal director—poured their hearts and paychecks into a messy spectacle doomed to fail by any conventional measure. It ran for only eight performances. The reviews were tepid. Fewer than one hundred people saw it. But to emotionally messy hack magazine editor John DeVore, cast at the last minute in a bit part, it was a safe space to hide out and attempt sobering up following a devastating loss.An unforgettable ode to the ephemeral, chaotic magic of the theatre and the weirdos who bring it to life, Theatre Kids is DeVore's buoyant, irreverent, and ultimately moving account of outsize ambition and dashed hopes in post-9/11, pre-iPhone New York City. Sharply observed and bursting with hilarious razzle-dazzle, it will resonate with anyone who has ever, perhaps against their better judgment, tried to bring something beautiful into the world without regard for riches or fame. About John DeVore: John DeVore is a two-time James Beard Award–winning writer and editor who has worked for The New York Post, SiriusXM, and Conan O'Brien's Team Coco. He's also written for Esquire, Vanity Fair, and Marvel Comics, among many others. John lives in Brooklyn with his partner and their one-eyed mutt. Learn more about your ad choices. Brett recently made an appearance on William Ramsey Investigates with top Hollywood-DC researcher and writer Matthew Alford to discuss the murder of deep state-connected Hollywood screenwriter Gary DeVore. Brett interviewed Alford about his 2016 book on the DeVore case—The Writer with No Hands—for the latest issue of Cultural Engineering Studies. The discussion on the show touches on Hollywood's vast relationship to the federal government and the clandestine world more broadly, as well as the history and challenges of using FOIA (the Freedom of Information Act) to obtain documents from the government regarding its collaborations with the entertainment industry.Note: The livestream of this conversation experienced some audio issues, such issues have been edited out as much as possible https://drmattalford.substack.com/https://www.youtube.com/@DrMatthewAlfordhttps://www.amazon.com/Writer-No-Hands-Pocket-sized/dp/1530649870/https://www.williamramseyinvestigates.com/https://decoding-culture.com/cultural-engineering-studies-issue-2/https://decoding-culture.com/cultural-engineering-studies-issue-2/#interview-with-matthew-alfordhttps://twitter.com/CinemaPsyophttps://www.patreon.com/PsyopCinemahttp://psyop-cinema.com/https://linktr.ee/psyopcinemathomas-psyopcinema@protonmail.combrett-psyopcinema@protonmail.com
Visual Intonation Podcast – Featuring Taj Devore-Bey In this episode of Visual Intonation, we sit down with Taj Devore-Bey, a rising Philadelphia-based cinematographer whose lens is shaped as much by trauma as it is by talent. Before he picked up a camera, Devore-Bey was navigating the sharp edges of adolescence in Southwest Philly, where a life-altering home invasion forever redefined his idea of safety. At 16, he witnessed his father survive a near-fatal shooting — a moment that shattered the concept of home and safety, and later echoed through every frame of his visual storytelling. Devore-Bey's artistic journey is rooted in dualities: light and shadow, chaos and calm, grit and grace. A former high school football player at Cheltenham and a student of film and media at Mott Community College, he brings the discipline of sport and the depth of scholarship into his work. He has served as Director of Photography and Assistant Editor on Awaken: A Tale of Inner-City Violence, Crime, and Its Impact — a film that mirrors much of what he has lived and seeks to interrogate through his camera. His voice is young, but his eye is seasoned. Influenced by visionaries like Spike Lee, Terrence Malick, Ava DuVernay, and the visual mastery of Bradford Young and Chivo Lubezki, Devore-Bey crafts work that refuses to look away. Each shot is an invitation to see — not just what's there, but what it means. His commitment to empathy and perspective permeates every project, including his collaboration on Pulled Over/Pulled Under, where he worked alongside a powerful creative team addressing racial profiling and systemic injustice. Join us for a conversation that moves beyond the lens: into memory, identity, survival, and the enduring question of how art can not only reflect the world, but reshape it. Taj Devore-Bey isn't just documenting stories: he's reclaiming them. In today's chapter, we dive into the murder of a woman that history seems to have forgotten. Not anymore. In December of 1969, Bani Yelverton, a young Black woman with a promising future in modeling, was found murdered in her friend's New York apartment under circumstances that baffled investigators. With no sign of forced entry, few concrete leads, and a city gripped by upheaval, the case soon went cold. Who wanted Bani dead—and why? In this episode, Laurent sits down with Jon Devore. Jon is a professional skydiving stuntman, aerial stunt coordinator, and captain of the Red Bull Air Force team. This episode is rich with insights and full of contrast. From his beginnings as an educator, to pioneering freeflying, to doubling as Johnny Utah in the Point Break remake - Jon shares how teamwork, and dedicated training were vital to his accomplishments. Jon also discusses the delicate balance of humility and excellence, and how crucial both are to his success and the sport as a whole. In contrast to his many amazing accomplishments, Jon shares some very personal stories such as the loss his teammate Eli Thompson, his recent near-fatal speed flying accident, and the immense physical and mental hurdles he had to overcome and still deals with daily. Finally, John gives us a glimpse into the future of the Red Bull Air Force and the rigorous process of integrating a new team member. Our conversation offers a deep dive into the mind of one of air sports' most accomplished figures. This independent project is only possible with the support of our listeners.
