In August of 1979, Michael Jackson released his 5th studio album. It was the first album released for Jackson on Epic following his departure from Motown. The album is also the first with Quincy Jones at the helm, whom Jackson had met on the film set of The Wiz. It is considered a classic of the disco era and possibly his greatest record. Let's talk Michael Jackson, Off the Wall!
Kingcow decided to play this 1979 masterpiece for The Crafty DM. Michael's fifth album is easily his best up to this time. What he learned on this he would use later on "Thriller". If you haven't heard this you're in for a treat. Happy Easter! Praise Jesus!

My guest this week is writer and painter Lesley Arfin. Like many of my guests, Lesley is a good friend (so maybe I'll stop saying that now every week). When I met her I had heard about this cool girl who was writing really vulnerable, personal pieces as a column for Vice called "Dear Diary". She's then gone on to write on the TV show Girls and create the amazing show Love (on Netflix). She's due to have a baby in October, so her playlist is all for her baby girl.1. For as prolific and talented an artist as he was, this was an inscrutable man. We find him here, at the top of his talent (arguably, see also Jackson 5), and nailing it on every track. Also, this is super disco, which can play out however your mind leads you, given your leanings. Brilliant record, and let's all give a "hee hee" and "sh'mon" in his memory. The King of Pop's breakthrough solo album, "OFF THE WALL" doesn't seem to be revisited as often today as many of his other albums throughout the eighties. It might be a sign of the times but today, I'm giving the album a look for myself! Does it have the same appeal today as such a massively acclaimed album had back in the day?
