Welcome to Big Boss Mare with Brandy Von Holten! Tina Dulaban is our guest today! She is the Vice Chair for the Central Region for the Missouri Women in Agriculture. MO Women in Ag put on a yearly conference called the Women in Ag Conference. The conference started in 2001 and has been going strong ever since. Weekends are extremely difficult to work around so the Missouri Women in Ag doesn't even bother with trying to work around everyone's hectic schedules. During the event, Tuesday is the "tour day". In 2023, Von Holten Ranch/Brandy Von Holten was selected for the tour destination. Mounted archery, line dancing, self defense, and dinner are all included in our air conditioned/heated wedding and event venue! Welcome to 2nd Amendment Radio & the Great Outdoors with Marc Cox & Bo Matthews – as always we are produced by Carl Middleman (Pew Pew)! We begin by thanking everyone who came out to Bo's Big Dawg Poker Bash last weekend. Then Mo. Sen. Nick Schroer tells us what is going on with SAPA after a federal judge struck it down. The Second Amendment Preservation Act passed in 2021, & made it illegal for police to enforce federal gun laws that are not included in state statutes. It also allows people to sue police departments for up to $50,000 if they feel like an officer is violating their 2nd Amendment rights. U.S. District Judge, Brian Wimes, ruled the legislation violates the U.S. Constitution's supremacy over local laws & called it, “unconstitutional in its entirety.” Finally, Emily Porter from the Mo. Dept. of Conservation to discuss the increase of women hunting (in honor of International Women's Month).Female hunters have been increasing over the past 15 years at least, according to various data sets from conservation organizations. The state is seeing women in hunting grow younger and more prevalent. While 78,000 Missouri women have firearm hunting permits, most of the increases appear to be in bow hunting.Female bow hunters increased by nearly 40 percent between 2005-2014, according to a report on the state's recruitment, retention and reactivation plan by the Archery Trade Association. The same report indicated a 5 percent decrease in this demographic's age.
On this episode, we speak with Kellie Ann Coats, Executive Director of the Missouri Women's Council. Kellie Ann discusses the work of the council during the pandemic and their current work with incarcerated women through the Aspire MO program.

In this episode, Dr. Graham Taylor is joined by Joshua Taylor, Head Coach of the University of Missouri Women’s Volleyball Program. Together they discuss the characteristics of being an effective leader, the value of being a good teammate, modeling yourself as a leader, living a disciplined life determined to do right things, gratitude and the importance of empathy and trust. These strategies, these ways of thinking, attitudes, behaviors, relational qualities, these are generalizable to all parts of our lives. An effective leader earns the right to lead through individual connections and building trust within their group. 'Ubuntu' is a term that roughly translates to the concept 'I am, because we are'. In other words, Me is a result of We. And it's a way of living that some might see as the essence of being human, a person becomes a person through other people. In today's episode we discuss: —Epidemiology: The authors present a case report of a 29-year-old SARS-CoV-2 positive woman with minimal, mild symptoms who underwent an uncomplicated and successful vaginal delivery to a healthy baby boy at the University of Missouri Women and Children's Hospital in April 2020. After birth, the patient's placenta was subsequently analyzed using hematoxylin-and-eosin (H&E) staining, which revealed evidence of general placental vascular malperfusion possibly due to hypertrophic arteriolopathy along with immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining which revealed the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in chorionic villi endothelial cells. Current literature on COVID-19 in pregnant patients is somewhat conflicting regarding morbidity, miscarriage rates, susceptibility, and the possibility of vertical transmission; the authors posit that this case is the first report of placental SARS-CoV-2 in the setting of mild COVID-19 disease, where the patient had only symptoms of mild myalgias. —R&D: Diagnosis & Treatments: A prospective study conducted at a Malaysian COVID-19 quarantine center of 217 asymptomatic adult males, where 160 tested positive, found a far greater SARS-CoV-2 detection rate using morning salivary samples (93.1%) when compared to nasopharyngeal swabs (52.5%) (p

Conversation 14: The Story, Journey and Passion of Registered Dietitian, Ellen Davis RD, LD, CSSD “I truly developed a passion for nutrition and dietetic when I was running track and cross country at the University of Missouri. I realized far too late in my career as a Division I athlete that I was making poor fueling choices. I made it my goal to become a sports dietitian. Looking back, it was a challenge but I think that is what we do as dietitians, we just put our heads down and just do it. ” -Ellen Davis, RD, LD, CSSD My conversation today is with Ellen Davis, RD, LD, CSSD Ellen was always passionate about being an athlete since 7th grade running track and cross country.
