It's one of the greatest TV shows in America right now: The Caitlin Clark effect of being David and Goliath at the same time. Angel Reese's ability to provoke and emote. The wisdom and 4D chess of Dawn Staley. And yet, for a TV writer and stand-up comic who's been evangelizing the women's game for decades, this season has been like showing a friend The Sopranos for the first time. Having witnessed March Madness and in anticipation of next week's WNBA Draft, Morgan Murphy and Pablo determine that the ensuing hot takes from sports media's "empire of garbage" may signal that normalization is here to stay. I didn't really know what to do with this episode, a conversation with one Morgan Murphy, aka guccihighwaters. It's not the best recording – Morgan is backstage in Hamburg when we speak, seemingly building a shed. Also, Morgan isn't very well – it takes weeks for us to connect, such are the perils of getting sick on tour. But I'm so fond of the kid's nervy, quote unquote, Soundcloud Rap, and of the man who made the music himself, that I didn't want the conversation to go to waste. And so I'm putting it out as a bonus episode of the podcast, which is sort of what I've always done with bonus episodes really. Not cannon then. A bit like The Star Wars Holiday Special. But nowhere near that bad. Do check out new single 'In The Dark' by the way. It's a belter. And maybe sometime down the line artist and podcast can connect for a more thorough, hi-fi conversation. And of course, join the Substack. Twitter - @jamesjammcmahon Substack - https://spoook.substack.com

This episode features Maggie Przybylski and Morgan Murphy of Two Broads Ciderworks. They are bootstrapping their way into the cider world. Like many Maggie and Morgan started home brewing beer. 15 years ago the cider experience took hold in Sea Canyon. They picked apples, made pies and fermented apple juice into cider. The whole journey from apple to glass appealed to them. They love cooking and sharing what they produce with friends. Today, the focus is on locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. These two broads began building their tasting room in January of 2020. Just in time for the world to be shut down. The pieces of the cidery continue to come together. They are producing incredible, complex and flavorful ciders in a region that is full of wineries. Matt Cross Tap Takeover Episode Maggie Przybylski and Morgan Murphy are the married team behind Two Broads Ciderworks, a cidery in San Luis Obispo that they launched in 2017. Matt and I had our eyes opened wide to the process of turning local apples into dry, beautiful cider. This is what you might know as hard cider — an apple cider that has fermented and become alcoholic. San Luis Obispo County is really great for cider-making because we have a strong tradition of apple-growing here, and Two Broads Cider definitely makes the most of it. If you love cider, you'll enjoy hearing about Maggie and Morgan's methods, tastes, and travels. And if you don't currently drink cider, I guarantee you'll want to give it a try after hearing us drink it. Two Broads Ciderworks / @twobroadscider

Fade in on a show...with a focus on Smash... HEY GUYS! It's the first episode ever of How Was Your Smash! On this special Extra-Sode (it's not a minisode because, bitch, it's LONG), Julie talks at length to three guests about the best television of all time, Smash! First up it's Nate Harris, and he shares his five and a half favorite moments from the show after chatting before and after the season finale about whether the show is too straight, why the term and the concept of hate-watching must be destroyed, and what the best thing to say is when somebody gives you a massive sum of money. Then, Smash season one writer Jason Grote is here to discuss the show alongside with Vulture Smash recapper Rachel Shukert! Learn what Julia was meant to be eating in bed instead of peanut butter! How the show could have made more sense if Katherine McPhee had played Katherine McPhee instead of Karen Cartwright! And why Derek will never not be likeable. Also! Julie asks some How Was Your Week friends/ Smash fans what their favorite moments from season one were and therefore, there are cameos in this episode from Morgan Murphy! Jackée Harry! Retta! Scott Brown! Holly Schlesinger! My Gentleman friend, Jack! And Billy Eichner. Finally, the Smash Twitter accounts are finally discussed. An easter egg! To say nothing of the Joan Didion anecdote that takes place at Anjelica Huston's house. I know! Yikes. Let this podcast be your star.
